Had to finally make our way to Baltimore to get our hands on the famous crab dip bagel. We went in on a weekday and did not have to wait in line. This location is great because it's so spacious. Our order was taken quickly and we were able to order what we wanted without having to be told anything was sold out. We did the two crab dip bagels, the Crookie, and the hojicha brioche aux craquelin. In total, we spent about $45. The crab dip bagels may seem pricey but they are actually very filling. Beware, once you are there, you will see other things and want to try them. I was conflicted about waiting until the next bake schedule hour to try the elote cornbread, but had to save that for next time because we were short on time. We really enjoyed our bagels, they were very tasty, but I also felt like still good but overly hyped. They were good, don't get me wrong, but just a bit overhyped. I personally wouldn't wait in line over an hour for them as I have heard others share they have done in the past. As for the other pastries, they were fine. We were quite full from the bagels so maybe we didn't give them a fair shot, but they were just "fine" to us. Nothing spectacular or out of this world. Came here to get the famous crab dip bagel. Parking is tight and I had to park a few blocks over in a side street. (FYI...watch the signs to avoid being towed). No issues. I went on a weekday and there was a short line so the wait was no more than 5-7 minutes. The ambiance was fast-paced and smelled of fresh baked pastries, which was right up my alley. There was plenty is seating in the back as well as outdoor. They have a menu for you to peruse before you order. They have assorted sweet and savory items along with typical bakery drinks (coffee, tea, etc.). The staff were very pleasant when I approached the counter for my order: a crab dip bagel, ham and cheese croissant, and a "crookie", which was a croissant with chocolate chips inside and topped with chocolate chip cookies. My items were packaged in no time and I was provided with reheating instructions for my items as well. First up, the crab bagel, a nice, fresh, pillow soft bagel topped with a mixture of fresh crab and sweet corn (not on my bingo card to be included in a traditional crab dip ). This was interesting...I did have to add additional Old Bay seasoning to this once I was home (I'm a Bmore gurl, what can I say?), which made it more tasty, in my option. Now, for me, would I go across town and potentially stand in a long line for this? No, I wouldn't. It was just okay for me. Next, the ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was flaky and airy with the perfect amount of chew and crisp. I did reheat it according to the instructions and it was good. The ham's saltiness combined with the cheese and croissant made for a decent item. Finally, the "crookie", which I also heated up. Now THIS???? I was not expecting that burst of sweet, delectable flavor in my mouth. This was my afterthought purchase and proved to be THE star of my whole Cafe Dear Leon experience. The croissant, once again, flaky, chewy, airy with the surprise of chocolate chips inserted with those two chocolate chip cookies on top....NOW, would I go across town and potentially stand in line for THIS? Very busy vibe but that's to be expected on the weekend. We did end up finding seating for two people. There's outdoor seating as well! We got there pretty late and actually got the last sandwich. They were out of many things besides drinks. SHOCKER . I wish I could remember the sandwich's name. Just know it was a 10/10 blind buy. Honestly some of the best pastries I've ever had! Well worth the wait! I got to La Maison at 11am on a Sunday. The line was long, but it moved decently fast. They also have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating which is super nice! To drink, I got the Brown Sugar Hojicha Latte, which was perfectly sweet and strong! Loved it. We ordered pretty much every pastry, but my favorites were the Guava and Cheese Pain Suisse, Elote Cornbread, Crème Brûlée Tart, and Monkey Bread. I also tried the egg sandwich, which I enjoyed. Love that we have a sit down option / second location. Got to try cafe dear leon finally thanks to that! However I think I may have gone in with TOO high of expectations because of all the rave reviews. I was expecting to have one of those "wow, this changes everything" pastry moments, and for me, it didn't quite reach that level. Everything we had was good, fresh, and clearly made with care; it just wasn't the most incredible bread or pastry I've ever eaten. Cafe Dear Leon I finally made it. It is a beautiful cafe. The service was A1 with very friendly helpful staff. So I tried the infamous Crab Bagel. It was good! Think of a hollowed out bread bowl. While in the area I used my yelp and saw this. My fellow yelpie friends gave it good reviews recently. Its definitely larger then the Fells location with outdoor and indoor seating. Like the other location, pastries and sandwiches are all made on site. The price point is quite insane for a cafe in which I purchased a pre made tuna sandwich, cheesecake and a iced oatmilk lavender latte for a grand total of $27!! It was very busy with college students studying and a few others sitting inside. I was able to grab seating outside under the umbrellas as it was raining. My tuna salad sandwich was tasty but the bread a bit hard as it was sitting stacked up pre made. The cheesecake was okay and my latte needed to be remade as it was quite bitter. All in all, its not a lot to rave about especially with the high price point. I may return but its better options with cheaper price points. read more

First time at this second location for Cafe Dear Leon. Street parking was fairly easy and finding the building was also easy. There was a 10+ ppl in line in front of us, but the line moved fast and by the time it was my turn to order, they had still plenty in stock. Surprisingly they still had a few Crab dip bagel which we had to try, among a few other things. I only ordered the Tiramisu Brioche because it was so pretty to look at but it ended up being my favorite. It's definitely a treat considering the prices of their menu items. The trick it seems to securing a famed crab dib bagel from the bakers of Cafe Dear Leon minus crazy lines is to head over to La Maison. When we got there, it was 2pm. Good news- many many crab dip bagels to be found. And of course it is still delicious. Bad news- that was about it for the lunch options cos that 11am sandwich offering stuff is almost sold out. There was only a couple ham croissants, a couple hot dog rolls and one veggie sandwich left. Mind you they stay open till 3pm. Once again the disappointment I always feel with this enterprise - I wish they would make more of each option on their bake schedule. They know they are popular and they always sell out of food. Yesterday I finally checked out La Maison powered by Cafe Dear Leon in Remington, and I totally get the hype. The space is beautiful without trying too hard. It has the simplicity and charm of a French bakery, and it felt so warm and inviting. There was plenty of seating inside, making it a great spot to get some work done, but with the weather being so nice, the outdoor seating was tempting too. One thing I thought was really cool is that their menu changes throughout the day, starting at 7:30 a.m. and wrapping up when they close at 3 p.m. We ordered the crab egg sandwich and the focaccia sandwich, and both were so good. That focaccia sandwich? I haven't stopped thinking about it. We also tried the monkey bread and Brazilian lemonade, and neither disappointed. The best bakery in the country may be Cafe Dear Leon. Their original location is small and always with a well-deserved line. This location is their second and very large. (It's inside the building of a popular butchery/deli that shut its doors.) Walk inside Tuesday-Saturday early because their pastries sell out quickly. I was so excited to try this new trendy coffee shop by Cafe Dear Leon! The space is large with lots of plants, seating, and great ambiance. However, I did go on a Friday so it was VERY busy, it was hard to even grab a seat. I ordered the crab dip bagel and an iced oatmilk latte, and my friend got a hot matcha, an almond croissant, and a smores cookie. My crab bagel was pretty good, I had been dying to try it since it's so viral online. It was a bit lukewarm when I ate it though, and I did get a small piece of crab shell in one bite. The latte was insanely good and the espresso was not bitter at all. In terms of service, you wait in line to pick your food and then order your drink at the register. They give you your pastries right away, and then you have to go around to the espresso bar to wait for your drink. Service was very friendly but a bit slow. Holy cow, the pastries here are INSANE! Soft and delicate, and the sandwiches are suuper filling. Came here with my friend to work on some assignments and ordered a bit more than we could chew. I will say finding solid seating here is tough, and it is packed tight. But it is handicap accessible, and gets some great light. It's right across the street from a wonderful consignment shop and Ottobar, which makes it an ideal place to grab a quick lil bev if there's an outdoor market happening. The hours here are a bit odd, but otherwise I think this is a great spot to get some work done if you don't mind loud, dense environments. I also appreciate the space heaters sprinkled about the seating area to ensure everyone gets some heat in this large hall. Also, if you haven't been to their cafe in a while they have updated their seating area and it is much more comfortable and chic with a mix of padded bench seating and wooden seating. Fairly new (Opened Oct 2025), spacious, instagrammy, and inviting cafe/bakery created by the owners of Café Dear Leon! So happy they developed this location with a more expansive menu, ample seating, and the same delicious food and drinks. Went on a Sunday morning- be prepared to wait in line. Waited about 15-20 minutes but it was worth the wait! Tried a bit of everything from their menu like their famous Crab Dip Bagel, my favorite Crème Brûlée Tart, decadent Koginut Pumpkin Basque Cheesecake slice, Smoked Salmon Sandwich on Everything Focaccia, and washed it down with a Black Sesame Caramel Latte. Perfect sized pastries for sharing or eating throughout the week. The sandwich was phenomenal. My first time trying smoked salmon and the textures, flavors, and everything was perfect. Maybe just a tad bit salty that's all. The latte was good, but I expected more of a Black Sesame taste- I got mostly caramel though it's tasty. I wasn't impressed with the Crab Dip Bagel, but the the Crème Brûlée tart is perfect as always (sold at Café Dear Leon also). The basque cheesecake is rich and amazing-doesn't even require the pumpkin sauce on the side. Overall, I'd come again to try more of their items on their rotating monthly/seasonal menu. I am excited to write a review for a cafe I have been wanting to visit for a long time! I have heard great things about this new establishment by Cafe Dear Leon, and the reviews do not lie. Upon entering the cafe, I am welcomed into a warm, inviting ambience. The space is well organized to cater to quick to-go orders or for folks to gather around a table for a meal or sit to do work remotely. There are plenty of seating options as well as outlets for remote work. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I was pulled with interest to try the crème brûlée *chef's kiss* delicious, light, and delightful in every bite! I was delighted to order a vegetarian sandwich available in the 7:30 AM menu. It was DELICIOUS. I do hope Cafe Dear Leon/La Maison continues to maintain vegetarian items on their menu. The restrooms are clean and organized, and ADA accessible/compliant. Parking is relatively easy with street parking right out front of the property. I would say the music was a bit loud, such that it would overwhelm a conversation between two people. I look forward to returning to this cafe. I would really like to see Cafe Dear Leon experiment and provide vegan desserts, since all their items mostly contain allergens like dairy, milk, and egg. It is possible that La Maison is even better than Cafe Dear Leon. The food and coffee are superb at both. But. La Maison is huge. There are many tables of different sizes, many of which are near outlets, and it is a very pleasant spot to sit for an hour or two and get some work done or just read or people watch. Also, because of its size, you can wait on line inside of the restaurant instead of freezing or baking on the street. The pastries are extremely well executed and the ones that are the best tend to be things I've never heard of and can't pronounce. They currently have a laminated pastry filled with black sesame paste that is the perfect combination of sweet and savory and flaky. I also tried a vegetarian focaccia sandwich that was creamy and herbaceous and just generally delightful, but I have no idea what was on it. Bigger is a theme here for La Maison, as it is a sitdown experience, which is something that the owners always wanted to have, but with Covid lasting so long and the size of the space never got to actualize in Canton. The coffee service here is amazing. They have a massive new coffee machine and I just learned they have different lattes at La Maison versus Café de Leon in Canton so just FYI. I love their seasonal items and have been a sucker for their chocolate croissants and just their regular Cortado's. I also really like their cookies anyway the vibes here are great and it's still gardeners a long line, especially on their fresh drops, but not nearly as impossible as the canton location is. I got up bright and early to check out La Maison, the new second location by cafe dear leon -- a true community staple! The space is HUGE and so cozy -- such a beautiful addition to the neighborhood and already feeling like the perfect community hangout spot. I did some work here and I know this will be so great for the winter months to get cozy:) There's street parking, plenty of indoor seating, WiFi, and even a separate drink pickup area. The pastry counter is filled with the same beautifully crafted selection you'll find at their original Canton location. I got the baklava latte (hot, with oat milk) and the crab bagel and the chausson (apple turnover), and everything was absolute perfection. I waited for about an hour to get in and it was so worth it!
