All the La Madeline's across town are revamping to a newer, more modern design. I like this one in particular because it still has that old world French feel. It's the best part of the restaurant... cozy up by the fire in the rickety chairs and you'll feel like you're in an old French farmhouse. Start with your counter service ordering and don't forget to grab a baguette before you take your seat in one of the French themed rooms. Your wooden spoon with a number on it will let the server know which table to bring your food to. My fave is of course the tomato basil soup, french dip and the tomato bowtie pasta. I always enjoy La Madeleine when I go, but the last three time I've had to wait 10-15 min to order (I was next in line) or no orders were being taken! Today at 12:00 I walked in and only pastry orders were being taken, no lunch orders. What is the Franchisee/owner doing to allow proper staffing during high volume times? Or is this a company issue not allowing higher incentives to new/current employees to either bring them in or retain then. Wow. What a disappointing experience today. My husband and I got there at 2:00 to oder food to go. You think if your meal is $27.44, you would have it in less than 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, I spoke with a manager who refunded our meal and said your order would be ready in a few more minutes. 15 minutes later, the item we were waiting for was sitting getting cold while the other items be ordered 45 minutes earlier was no longer hot or cold. We spoke to the manager and left without our food. NOTHING should take 45 minutes. I had the croissant French toast and it was delicious! Not too much syrup and plenty of fresh fruit on top. The three pieces are plenty to eat. I like that you can refill your coffee as much as you like and the real cups are nice. I arrived at 10:00 and it wasn't too busy, shortly thereafter it got full fast and loud. I ordered a whole crossiant chicken salad sandwich,pasta salad, and tomato soup. I go to la madeline a lot in Irving and order the same thing everrrrryyytime. This time it wasn't so great. I waited 40 mins for my order and I didn't really care until I got super hungry... A worker realized I was waiting so long so she asked me about my order... thats when it came out. Luckily, the sandwich and the pasta salad were served cold. The soup tasted different ....I use to be in love with the soup... but it tasted odd. The manager was in the front the whole entire time talking to his employees, and he never noticed me.... i was walking back in forth thinking I had to pick up my food, or did I miss it when they called me... I think they forgot about me... A lady walked in asking if she had to pick up her food in the front, and the manager told her that they server it to you. La Madeleine is the "French" version of Panera. You go up to the counter and order. Someone brings out your food for you at your table. They have a couple "Parisian" specialties as well as baked goods, salads, and sandwhiches. I came for Brunch, but it was more lunchtime, so I had the chicken salad on a croissant with bean soup. It was satisfying. There is free bread by the drinks, so definitely take advantage of that. read more

I haven't been to this location in a very long time but went today with my sister-in-law. We had the best time! We sat in the corner next to the fire, the setting was perfect for a perfect lunch. I had half of the turkey bistro, tomato basil soup, and Cæsar salad. My sister-in-law had half a sandwich and two soups! What a great deal. We spent $10 each and we were completely full! We were disappointed by the quality of the food. My husband and I had a turkey brie and goat cheese sandwich but it had no flavor and we could hardly taste any cheese at all. We also ordered two almond croissants but they were not fresh made. Finally, I had a decaf coffee but it was just watery coffee and I left it there after the first sip. I really, really love La Madeleines. They are the best place to have breakfast during the weekdays (weekends still in my top 5). I will usually have the scrambled eggs (which come with a crousant) and either a cup of fresh fruit or a cup of oatmeal topped with fresh blueberries and brown sugar. I must have been there on a bad day. It was disorganized, the coffee was warm and I overheard a customer arguing with the cashier over her bill. Otherwise, the food was good, but not worth the effort of getting the problems solved. [Update to this review] Today I went with my son and daughter-in-law for desserts before they flew back to Japan. Everything went well. The service was good. The lemon tart, the fruit tart and the eclair were delicious. The coffee and tea were hot. Guess everybody can have a bad day. read more

La Madeleine has delicious desserts! I love the fruit tarts. The food isn't bad either. My last encounter at la Madeleine was on a Saturday around 9pm. It wasn't too busy as they were closing at 10pm. We ordered food to go as well as some desserts. The wait time wasn't bad. The only bad thing was that one of the cooks would put a sandwich in to cook and while he was waiting he would be on his phone. He did not wash his hands after doing so. Gross. We talked to the manager, Steve, and he told us that he would make us a new sandwich himself. There is an open kitchen concept so we could see him make the food. He made the food and gave us a free dessert! Steve assured us that they would have a meeting with the entire staff to deal with contamination and being on cell phones while working. I hope they did have that meeting. It was nice to know that the manager cared about the customers needs and concerns. read more

Chicken La Madeleine is always very good. It's not an entirely "French" menu though...pretty Americanized. Lastly, I have reduced a star due to cleanliness--often over 50% of empty tables are un-bussed and cluttered...you have to ask the staff to clear them so you can actually sit! read more

The Grapevine location has become a huge disappointment in the La Madeleine franchise. It is totally inefficient since doing away with the walk through service. Our wait for soup and salad was approximately 20 minutes. The soup arrived lukewarm and even though I paid for a bowl, I was served a cup portion. Our waiter acted surprised that I asked him to bring the size I ordered,even after showing him the receipt. The manager was annoyed that I asked for my soup to be reheated. No apologies. The tea ran out and was not refilled and the dessert case was almost empty and this was early on a Sunday evening. I will stick to the Dallas locations in the future. read more

I normally go to the Arlington location all the time. It's very quick to order and get my food right then and there before i even check out. I have been here for 30+ minutes now waiting for a Caesar salad with chicken and a chicken la Madeleine plate. We are the only ones in the building and it has taken this long and still plus more time. Also at the Arlington location you ask for bread and they give you sliced bread or two kinds on a nice plate. Here i asked for the same thing and they said it's going to cost me. They gave me a baguette that is barely as big as my pinky finger. I will have to say i will never be coming to this location again. I would rather drive 30 minutes from home to go to Arlington verses driving barely 5 to get to this horrible grapevine location. read more

Food is always good here but what is the point in submitting an online order at 10:00 am for 12:15 pm pick up and when you get here at 12:15 pm, they don't have a record of it until you walk in to pick it up?? I'm in a hurry and don't have time to wait. That is why I placed my order online in the first place. I've been waiting for 20 minutes and counting... I don't feel like wasting my entire lunch hour waiting on my order. To top it all off, my order had been sitting there for over 10 minutes. I had to go ask them if that was my order. This place is amazing! I usually come here about once a week (I would come more, but like somebody said, the food is very rich and hearty. The manager there, Will is awesome. He continuously checks on you to check to see if you are ok, and need anything. They just remodeled actually, and instead of paper menus, they have sandwich boards that are really big, (they look more fast food) and you have to wait to get everything now (where before, you could get your soup and salad and then go to your table before your entree was served). I havent eaten here for close to 20 years. I was wonderful then and it was wonderful yesterday. The staff were friendly, smiling and looked happy to be there. Since it had been so long, I needed some help and they were helpful too! I had the Chicken Parisien sandwich and a cup of French Onion soup and it was marvelous (yes I really use that word) I went with my 18 yr old son and he tried the ....ham? started with a "C" and had Monsieur in the name and was also a sandwich. La Madeleine is always good. I believe Panera has probably modeled their good around them. Always fresh food leaning towards soup and sandwiches. Took my daughter here after she had a job interview and had a lovely time together. I had tomato basil soup and a grilled chicken sandwich and they sooo good. $20 for our meals. I was very excited to eat here, I ordered the Croque Monsieur half Sandwich and a cup of Tomato Basil Soup, My friend ordered a pasta dish. They brought my food out first. OMG! It was cold and half way frozen when I took a bite out of it. I took it up to the girl at the counter and told her. She was surprised that it was cold and still frozen, she said she would have them fix it. So they bring it back and it is the same Sandwich I took a bite out of and was half way still cooked. I thought they made all of there food fresh, but I guess not. Needless to say I will never go back. My friend waited 30 minutes for her food to arrive. She said her food was good. The rice was under cooked but she enjoyed what she ordered. Needless to say I will never go back. I lost desire to eat at another la Madleine, due to the food is not freshly cooked and the sandwich was warmed up in the microwave. This review is for their dinner items. I met people here around 6pm on a Wednesday night for a casual work meeting. It was really quiet and pretty empty, which was great. Plenty of space to choose where to sit. They changed up the processes a little bit since the last time I've been to a La Madeleine. You order from a menu at the register vs. how you used to see all the food out before you, almost like you would at a buffet. I ordered some delicious tomato basil, as they are known for having perfected that soup. It's true, they have. I also got a chicken friand, which is tender chicken, mushroom, onion and Swiss filling in a flaky puff pastry shell topped with creamy wild mushroom sauce. I unfortunately found the puff pastry to be extremely hard and overcooked on the edges. The middle was soft and delicious, but I couldn't cut the edges with a fork and I didn't want to be sawing at a pastry with a knife, so I just ate the middle part. This was the only issue I had and otherwise enjoyed my experience. read more
