It was time for another visit to La Madeleine to take advantage of their very nice private room for our Toastmasters club meeting. The restaurant is always so gracious, letting us use the room. Plus, what's not to like about dining at La Madeleine! All of our members went through the line and ordered what they wanted. Everyone loves that! My wife ordered the Chicken Salad Croissant. She's never met any chicken salad she didn't like. I opted for the Café Sampler. It included a cup of La Madeleine's incredible cream of mushroom soup, a tossed Caesar salad, and a slice of Quiche Lorraine, one of my all-time favorite quiches. Of course, we had to stop by the bread bin, which had an assortment of breads and jellies. Oh yummy! After a short wait, our entree selections were delivered to our table by a server with a welcoming smile. Our entrees exceeded our expectations and were delicious. I don't normally give bad grades to restaurants however, this La Madelaine is out of date and being poorly managed. I do not know if it is corporately owned or is a franchise. I don't recommend eating here for a couple of reasons. They are poorly stocked. They have young teenagers or uneducated individuals in charge that don't care about the restaurant or the patrons. The ownership clearly needs to make updates -and hasn't. The coffee maker is so loud the event that rented the backspace couldn't even hear their presentation due to how loud the coffee maker was. It wasn't dirty or gross, but someone needs to spend some time making it a welcoming venue. I won't eat at this particular location again ever until it is updated. The one in flower mound is so great! It's clean and well managed with the manager present all the time walking around checking on you and making sure your food is right Flower Mound as well stocked, and never out of anything even at closing time. read more

Not only was our American breakfast delicious but also the manager, Sonya, went out of her way to show us kindness. When I bought our breakfasts, I told her my friend is having knee replacement surgery in a couple of weeks and I would like to buy a piece of coconut cake for us to share. She said it was on the house. Not only was that piece a gift, she brought us 2 other desserts to share. Unbelievable ! We've always loved this place since it opened years ago. But, when you walk into an eating established and are greeted by an overturned cockroach, you would most likely turn around. But, only my husband saw it and did not mention it until after we ordered and while looking for a table to sit noticed his brother right there in the middle of the dining room. Noting the many times employees crossed through that room while we were there, we came to the conclusion that this must be a regular problem they have chosen to ignore. The restaurant was open until 9pm. We arrived about 15 mins before they were closing. We asked if we could place an order to go and the guest representative at the front counter was friendly and accommodating. One of the individuals, who was working in the kitchen, was not as friendly toward the idea. That person made it obvious that they were not really in favor of taking an order at that time. This despite that we ordered off the menu of available items (already made and not requiring kitchen service). The location was clean and our food was quickly assembled and we left and ate at our hotel, We are fans of La Madeline and they met our expectations in every way - even if the one person did have a bit of a bad attitude. Kudos to the rest of the team for keeping on going with great customer service - and I hope the kitchen attendant was just having an off day and they will be better tomorrow! read more

The chicken salad tasted like it was made with can chicken and the mayonnaise used was a poor quality. The potato soup was not warm and also had the taste of can soup.The keish Lorraine had a stale or days old taste. The coconut cake was also lacking flavor. The meal was over priced, $27 was ridiculously overpriced for the quality and taste. The wait staff was "so-so" and overly ready to show you where to enter the tip. Very disappointed with the quality of food at LaMadeline Grapevine, Tx today. The bread was stale and we got 3 slices for 2 people. I was not impressed with the chicken lamadeline. Broccoli was cold and flavorless. Did not care for the rice it came with. I did not like the flavor of the mushroom sauce on the chicken. The ham and cheese sandwich was not very good. Bread was cooked so hard you'd have to have beaver teeth to cut through it. LaMadeline used to be so delicious. Lately their quality has really suffered. We will try again another day. Maybe it's just a bad day for the chef. The mango and sweet teas were really good. The strawberry rhubarb spread was great. I considered a chocolate eclair and even those did not look appetizing. Establishment was clean, silver ware and glasses were clean. Restroom was clean. i have not eaten here in years but happen to be in the Grapevine area what a big mistake! 3 people total were working , this place was dirty , dirty , dirty. The silver ware holders were nasty, dirty the floors dirty, dirty carpet, old stained tables , tables were left unclean with dishes on them. I must fist disclose a high degree of sentimentality that I have for La Madeline, which will become highly apparent in this review. I was a huge fan of Patrick Esquerré, and his efforts to bring French cuisine to Dallas at reasonable prices. That being said the La Madeline of the 80s & 90s is long gone, with only a few vestigial organs left to remind us of what once was. This particular location as others have mentioned, is relatively unkempt and dare I say dirty at times. The majority of the menu is premade, possibly frozen, drivel which is almost unpalatable. There are some items from their original lineup that are still worth getting. The Sacher Torte, quiche Lorraine, strawberry rhubarb confiture, tomato basil soup, and their chicken Caesar salad are all still justifiable of the occasional jaunt. Even so, these items are nowhere as good as they were upon inception. The baguettes, and croissants are no longer worth patronizing as they are missing a certain je ne sais quoi, not to say they are inedible, just tremendously mid. My best memory of La Madeline came from the late 1990s, when they introduced a Beef Wellington entree, which was incredibly inexpensive, whilst being true to form. If memory serves, I think it was even served with a red wine pan sauce. All rumination aside, I don't think we'll ever see La Madeline return to it's roots of excellence, and dedication to scratch made French favorites served in an unpretentious manner. Though for the moment, I would like them to stay around for a bit longer, if for no other reason than to invoke fond memories of a not so distant past. read more

I still enjoy coming to a Lamadeline for a nice breakfast/lunch and visit with friends. I love the fireplace and the coffee is consistently good. The free bread and jams are always a nice extra too I like this restaurant for the following reasons -order at the counter they bring it out -reasonable prices -the APP(get it) allows you to pay with a quick scan and receive rewards!(who doesn't like being rewarded) -coffee 3 types unlimited -cozy seats and a fireplace -free yummy bread and jams -staff is awesome They have a private room in the back the allow you to reserve (for free!) and bring your own Food in. This restaurant is just sad. We visited on Wednesday night at 6:45 pm. There was a person taking orders and a table with 3 women. No one else. The person doing orders also had to get the complimentary bread for you. He informed us they were out of sourdough and gave us the heels and one piece of multigrain. We then went to find a table. Nearly all of the tables had dirty dishes and glasses in all 3 rooms. We wanted to sit near the fireplace but the tables on both sides were full of dirty dishes. When we went to get our silverware, the spoon holder had dirty spoons with soup caked on them. All the spoons were dirty.i took the whole basket to the guy behind the register. I also told him there was no jam for the bread. He apologized. He came to our table a few minutes later with 2 spoons that had just been washed as they were still warm. He said they were the only clean spoons they had right now. Then after a little while he also brought out our food. The food was good... but the place needs help. I had business in Southlake, so I decided to stop by here for breakfast. I ordered the Fresh Berry French Toast from their holiday menu. About 10 minutes after I ordered, I was wondering about my food. I noticed a couple plates including mine were sitting on the counter waiting to be served. When I went to refill my coffee mug, I observed the staff chitchatting behind the counter. I considered serving myself as I returned to my table. About five minutes later, an employee saw the plates on the counter and took them to their respective tables. It would have been 18 minutes since I placed my order. By this time, the french toast was lukewarm. I told the employee about the food sitting on the counter. When she returned after speaking to the staff, she told they were waiting for the whip cream. When I asked what whip cream, she did it was on the side of the plate. I showed her the photo which had no whip cream and she had nothing to add. I felt so bad for the one worker who had to work the register and take orders while preparing food and serving it. The worker didn't even have time to clean the tables.. most tables were filthy with dirty plates and bowls. No manager on duty no busser to assist with cleaning tables. We came in on a Sunday at 9 am and we sat by the fireplace. We love the bread, butter and jam that comes with your meal. Its always fresh and delicious. We both ordered crepes with mushrooms and swiss. Mine came out cold. My husband ate all of his. The service once we sat down was a miss.
