We came in for drinks and small plates. Started with Blood Orange Margarita and draft beer. The margarita was very good and served in a calavera (skull) vessel with Tajin on the rim. Fun and tasted great. Drinks went well with door on guacamole and chips. This was followed by al pastor tacos de la calle. The al pastor was very well seasoned and had a good depth of flavor. We also ordered comarones al ajo. The sauce was fine, but had little acid counter balance to toe oil and butter. Sadly, the shrimp was over cooked, so it was pretty chewy. Service was good. It was around 10P, music was bumpin' A friend of mine and I were looking around for a place to grab some last minute drinks, when we saw the sign. "LaJosies" after some quick googling we decided to check it out. Did ya'll know it's Fogon sister bar! Enough said. We walked in, we're greeted by some amazing staff, and it's women/Latinx owned. Anything to support my fellow women and POC's! The bartenders are fun and dare I say good looking! My group of friends stopped in here for drinks and snacks. The drinks were tasty and inventive - my friend got a truly spicy margarita, I had a cuba libre that was served in the coke bottle. I tried the shrimp ceviche since I am always drawn to that on menus and it was quite delicious. The rest of the menu looked good too. I just did not have a good experience overall due to atmosphere. The two people waiting at the time were more concerned about chit chatting near the till than making sure the customers were attended to. We were a group of 5 but they seated us at a cramped table for 4, and I was the one with one cheek hanging off the bench. The whole place is concrete with very little padding to absorb the sound so it was very LOUD. My roommate and I happened to stumble upon this place while we were searching for a place for a nice Sunday afternoon drink. I'm so glad we did because the drinks and food were great, and the service was spectacular! They are a new establishment, opening about a month ago. I applaud them for keeping a safe environment for customers especially during this pandemic. Ordering was easy and contact free. Seats on the patio were very safely spaced apart and all the workers had masks on. It was my first time sitting outside to eat at an establishment since March of this year, and I felt very safe doing so here. They have a good variety of bites to choose from. The menu isn't extremely extensive but it was big enough that you had a fair amount of options. Drinks were great! I went with the strawberry mojito and it was the perfect refresher for the weather we've been having here in Seattle. My roomie went with their watermelon margarita - also very enjoyable! Came with a 6 other people and I was fairly easy to find a table. The food was decent and drinks were good. I am heavy drinker so they aren't strong in my opinion but definitely tasty. My favorite part is the music can be control by the customers through an app so that adds to the vibes. read more

We came here for Cinco de Mayo and it was an amazing find. We were initially waiting to get into fogon but the wait was crazy. We decided to check out this new place and you had to wait in line but we only waited for about 15 minutes. We enjoyed drinks including margaritas and Mojito's. We ordered the spicy shrimp as well as the Carne Asada plate (which is not on the menu). The dishes are very flavorful and left us craving for more Mexican food the following week. Coming from Southern California I was a bit skeptical of eating Mexican food in Washington thinking it wouldn't be authentic. I was completely wrong! This is some of the best Mexican food I have had anywhere. The food was amazing, we had the taquitos, burrito and ceviche. All exceptional. Drinks were amazing and everything was reasonably priced. One of the many surprisingly good new restaurants in the Capitol Hill area. When I first moved here about 2.5 years ago there weren't that many great options to eat at. I'm happy to say that during the COVID era there were a new number of great new spots that popped up including La Josie's. Would recommend ordering a skirt steak platter. It might not be on the menu, but it is a possible option. Very satisfying and filling. The wait can be a little long if you're coming during peak hours, but it shouldn't be longer than 30 mins. You can quickly pass the time by visiting any of the other shops nearby. read more

I had ordered carne asada nachos & 2 sopes (1 carne asada & 1 chicken tinga) by far some of the best sopes I've had but unfortunately I never received my nachos. After reminding the waitress multiple times, she'd go check & would tell me they'd be right out but they never came out unfortunately, decided to close my tab out & as I was closing out they decided to bring my nachos out when I was getting ready to leave & they still wanted to charge me for the nachos I never ate. I live in Tacoma but we take a mini road trip down to Josies once a month to eat some of their delicious food. I haven't found a tortilla soup as good as theres. I highly recommend it along with everything in the menu. Not the biggest portions or pricey so you can definitely get 2-3 items. Tried out this place for the first time as we are new to the neighborhood. Loving all of the daily deals offered by restaurants in the area. The 24oz Modelo and Hornitos shot for $12 at Josie's definitely turned up the energy. The salsa roja was a little bit too spicy for a house salsa, but highly recommend the pico de gallo (mixed with cabbage to give it a nice twist).
