    The customer service here was friendly and efficient. The hibiscus virgin margarita and coconut flan I ordered were pretty delicious! The space is a little dim inside with lots of seating and a patio. Overall, I'd come back here to try their other foods and drinks. I'd recommend this bar/restaurant if you're ever in Fremont and want Mexican food/drinks.

    The food was a bit mediocre here. I tried two of the tacos and had the platter with rice and beans. The rice and beans were pretty good! But the special tacos were not great. The shrimp one was alright, and the bahn mi style one was overcooked. The meat was tough. Service as really friendly and helpful though! Might come back here just for drinks or happy hour? Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for authentic Mexican food.

    I had the two taco plate and chose the shrimp and the carne asada and I quite liked both! The service was fast and attentive, but it was a slightly off hour since it was 2-3pm on a Saturday. The vibe of the place was giving Tex-Mex bar and I enjoyed it! Overall, it was nice and I would come back!

    Great drinking spot! The little devils were fun. We tent to come here on Tuesdays for their taco tuesday deal, which is pretty good. The your dad's tacos are very delicious and also quite filling. The coconut flan is also definetly a highlight. The serving size of the nachos is also definitely huge and can feed several folks.

    Stopped in for some quick dinner in Fremont. Was craving tacos and Red Star answered my call. We arrived right around 6 on a Friday and we're the first people with a wait. Luckily two people left right as they were putting our names down. The vibe is great. Loud, pop music playing, industrial decor. Definitely see it as a first stop or last stop on a night out. The food was pretty good! I got the taco plate and my partner got the burrito. Both were around $13 which feels pretty reasonable. I'd definitely stop in again for a happy hour. Margs at $8 with deals on food seem like the way to go.

    AMAZING service, food and atmosphere. Everything is very affordable and there are so many great things to choose from. My group came in on a Saturday night and got seated right away. The food came out very fast and was made to perfection. I absolutely love the cocktail selection and they do have non alcoholic options which are just as good! Definitely will be back in the future. 10/10 would recommend to stop by for a bite to eat while going around downtown

    Loved the vibes and restaurant overall. The service was great and so quick - we were top of mind and quickly served and our server came around a few times to check in. The food was also great, loved the fresh and warm chips, they really did hit the spot especially on a cold day. I loved my margarita, it was perfect in terms of tequila and Serrano overall but wasn't spicy so it's doable and it wasn't sweet either which I liked. The 2 taco plate was perfect in terms of portion and I loved the shrimp taco but it was definitely on the sweeter side and the tequila lime chicken taco was okay, I wish there was more flavor to it but it wasn't bad. I'd definitely come back to try their other tacos.

    Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Red Star. Service was very quick and attentive. What i noticed first about the menu is that for Seattle, prices were quite reasonable. In fact, my burrito, which was great, was only $14. That is less than I normally pay for any entree or sandwich in the city. It's for sure a Mexican themed restaurant so as you can imagine the ambiance is just that. I won't discredit any Fremont restaurants for parking issues since that's what you get when you go to Fremont. I will definitely come back here.

    Red Star Taco Bar is where Fremont goes when it wants to eat like it just won the lottery but still only paid happy hour prices. The menu reads like a dare--Sriracha Honey Tofu, Bang Bang Cauliflower, Philly Cheesesteak, Fried Chicken, and the infamous "Mom's" and "Dad's" tacos--so naturally we ordered them all. Drinks? A roasted pineapple margarita, watermelon slushie, and a mocktail cheekily named Until Proven Guilty. It's chaos, it's indulgent, it's exactly Fremont.

    My friend and I came in for happy hour on a hot summer day. The inside is way too hot, so we asked to sit on their covered patio area which was a bit better. Service was super friendly. Felt pretty taken care of, given that we were seated outside. We ordered some tacos and the chips w guac and salsa. I got your mom's taco which tastes like a better Taco Bell taco lol. Good amount of beef and toppings. Taco shell nice and crunchy. The carnitas taco was pretty good too. A bit spicy but yummy all the same. Chips and guac and salsa were really good. Chips were fresh and still warm by the time it came to the table. Overall, this place hits. Obviously not the cheapest option for tacos, but still really good! Would definitely recommend coming for HH!

    Great spot for a summer afternoon happy hour. They have tacos for a few bucks (veggie options available) and margs for $9. Their back patio is covered with heaters but the sunshine streaming through the skylights in the summer is hard to beat. Their tacos are decent. The tequila lime chicken is my favorite and your dad's taco reminds me of a full/fresh Taco Bell taco (in a good way). The fish taco is awesome, too. My veg friends like the black bean and tofu tacos. It's a fun atmosphere and it's usually pretty busy, so plan ahead if you're heading here at peak times.

    Great spot for happy hour! They have delicious margarita slushies (in a variety of flavors) and decent food (including seasonal tacos, regular tacos, burritos and more). The back patio is a pleasant place to hang out.

    I always come to this place when I was in uni. I'm always obsessed with their drinks but red sangria is my go to. It tasted like black current juice, it's so refreshing in summer and after eating a spicy taco. I got 3 different tacos, one of them was so spicy for me but they all tasted so amazing. The Chicken Karaage one was okay, it doesn't feel like it pair well with tacos! This was our first time sitting at the patio. It's pretty busy on a weekday. The service was amazing, our server was so sweet and nice. There's another server, he's so goofy and funny, and have the best positive attitude!

With a dedicated menu for gin cocktails to an extensive array of different distillers, I was amazed. We enjoyed our cocktails thoroughly and also enjoyed some light bites. The arancini was a special of the evening and came out perfectly hot and crispy. The calamari was also fried very well. I did dock a star because about 80% of the food items on the menu were unavailable even though it wasn't closing yet. We did also get a little lost and ended up at stumbletown's sandwich shop before we found our way here. Luckily they're close by each other!

The Garden Party was a bit of a miss since as much as I tasted the orange and grapefruit, it was a very light drink and tasted a little watered down. The biggest plus is that the drinks are fairly affordable compared to the greater Seattle area, priced at $14. I liked how their menu says 14 for $14, as they have just 14 cocktails to choose from and the drinks seem to rotate seasonally. For us, we went just in time to still have the spring menu, but they will change to the summer menu on June 20.

We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. Go if you are looking for variety, skip the fish, bring ear plugs, and hope you have a brighter table than ours. Parking is street only. 3 Stars for the food, minus 1 star for the restaurant environment (unrelated to staff) The Food: k'tiss dip with crudités, $18 - 4 Stars We chose the marrow stone blue oyster mushroom option - p'set. The is a pan seared fish, make your own fish wrap. We did not know we ordered a DIY dish, which is ok in principle, just not good to be surprised. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. There is now a GoFundMe for the unpaid staff who had to quit their jobs.

What I ordered: Wishing to sample a little of everything, we were served, family style, two orders of Bread ($9 each) - buttered with salt and pepper; Fritto Misto ($12) - assorted, lightly fried and pickled vegetables with tarragon aioli; Smashed Burrata ($19) - snap peas, preserved lemon, mint, basil, sherry reduction; Carrot & Tahini Dip ($16) - caramelized garlic, feta, pistachio, crudite; two orders of Heirloom Tomatoes ($21 each) - melon, chevre, crispy quino, soft herbs; Crispy Potatoes ($16) - whipped feta, hot honey, mint; Mushroom Agnolotti ($34) - roasted maitakes, chanterelles, whipped ricotta, miso butter, thyme; Roast Chicken ($42) - chickpea, berbere yogurt, marinated cucumber, mint gremolata. To finish off our meals, we shared the Olive Oil Cake ($14) - basil yogurt cremeux, strawberry gel, and the Chocolate Tiramisu ($16) - mascarpone, rum, amaretto, candied hazelnuts. What I loved: Oh man, every dish was delightful. I found something to savor and repeat in each of the dishes we were served. From the sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes, to the creamy burrata, from the crispy potatoes, to the fresh peas and everything in between. Our least favorite, at the table was the mushroom Angnolotti, inconsistent from bite to bite. The presentation of the Carrot & Tahini dip was a bit haphazard compared to the rest of the dishes served, but the flavor was still lovely. Why I loved it: The service was unparalleled, comfortable yet professional and quick to offer recommendations for our larger party. The decorations and quaint spaces truly welcoming, and the food, excellent. Cost: High ($40+ per person)
