    Guacamole and Chips
    Ben F.

Warm July evening- Friday, waited about ten minutes for a seat on the deck. Friendly service, if maybe a little...aloof? But whatever...they were super busy. Chips, salsa and guac to start. It was nothing special. Tasty but not unique...just chips and salsa. Drinks next- house marg for me. I had two so ‍. Skinny marg for my friend. It lacked flavor. Horchata for the kid. He liked it but was not overwhelmed. He wasn't underwhelmed either. I suppose that means he was 'whelmed.' I had the carne asada enchiladas with red sauce. Pretty good, though the main spice coming through was salt. Others had chicken enchiladas and the chimichangas. All around we enjoyed it but were not raving. The atmosphere was pleasant. Loud music dominated a little... The price was reasonable, I suppose...$100 not counting tip, for three people. I ordered two enchiladas and could only eat one. Everyone else cleaned their plate. I'd go again but the food is not a highlight.

Visited El Chupacabra's deck on a gorgeous July noon. The place was quiet, allowing for instant self-seating. The shaded deck created a relaxing vibe, perfect for sipping margaritas, munching on chips and salsa, and enjoying a burrito. The deck's ambiance is fantastic, with full shade across all seats--ideal for lingering with drinks and browsing the web. I didn't check for Wi-Fi, and my iPhone signal was weak, but it didn't detract from the experience. The chips & salsa portion was massive, easily enough for two or more. The salsa reminded me of a watery Pico de Gallo. I only ate about a fifth the chips and, since they came with my meal, I'd skip ordering this separately next time unless with a group and having drinks. The 10" burrito was substantial; I ate two-thirds and couldn't finish it. They offered to pack it up, but it was too messy to save. Next time, I might try a crispy chimichanga. Overall, lunch was enjoyable, though the bill for drinks, chips, and an entree hit around $40--higher than expected, but fine for a carefree day.

Skinny Margarita Tall with extra soda

My friend and I like to come here late on a Sunday night after she's done her work for the day. Usually should get the Pacifico and I'll get a margarita of some kind. I don't like the sweet but I like the citrus, so bartender extraordinaire Matt models the lime really well add extra soda to make it tall and delivers the perfect bitter fizzy cocktail for me. Recommend you always get the chips and salsa, because they have three side salsas to come with the fresh pico -- and the pineapple salsa is outstanding. My friend always gets the same thing, two enchiladas all beans no rice with red sauce. And I usually get some form of Christmas burrito -- meaning red and green sauce -- usually carnitas but sometimes Carne Asada -- and it's delicious. There's always enough for leftovers for the next day, if you order the large. I like to take the leftovers home to my son who appreciates the deliciousness. This place delivers. On a rainy night, there's a fireplace and plenty of locals who know where the Hospitality is. Try to sit at the bar if you can. Our neighborhood is lucky to have this place.

Not the place for veggies, but always the GOAT for vibes and good gnosh. Great vegan options always.

We visited El Chupacabra in Greenwood with a large group to celebrate my cousin's graduation, and it couldn't have been a better choice. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly--service was smooth even with our big party. The menu had great vegan and vegetarian options, which was a huge plus for our group. Everyone loved their meal--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was another highlight: spooky, eclectic, and full of character without feeling overdone. It made the whole experience feel fun and unique. We sat on the patio, which was a really nice option on a pleasant evening. The bathrooms were clean and acceptable, and everything we needed was easy to access. Highly recommend for a casual but memorable night out with friends or family--especially if you appreciate great food and a quirky, fun vibe!

El Chupacabra is an accommodating Tex-Mex type of spot that seems to really appeal to groups and a younger crowd with its red lighting and industrial metal sounding tunes pumped through the speakers. It was mostly average from start to finish here. It wasn't really that busy on drizzly weekday evening. A few groups eating and Dashers here and there doing pickups, but it took a couple minutes to locate someone to help us be seated so that was a bit choppy. Waitress points to an available table we can sit at which was clean but looked like it could use a sweep under it. To start I got a house margarita at $7 that was pretty good. we got Tacho's for the table. I was expecting something a bit more interesting, maybe it's my fault for not simply asking but they're basically Tater tots with queso dip and some garnish. Very shareable with 3-4 people but forgettable beyond that. Wouldn't recommend. I got a burrito bowl, and the portion again is quite large, enough to save for leftovers unless you're real hungry. The presentation was ok, on a nice sized plate but everything was in a separate corner which I found a bit weird rather than it be stacked or side by side like maybe a chipotle burrito bowl. The Salsa was all on the left, the cheese all at the top of the plate, the meat on the right and the greens just kind of all over. The Carne asada was pretty decent actually. Decently seasoned and a fair portion. So again, not bad but the ambience, service, and food just don't cross into the "Let's hit Chupacabra later!' status for me beyond a couple drinks for me.

So after a doctor appointment in Seattle we decided to go hear again! I'm surprised the price seemed like most food was 13 to $15 I think it's expensive mostly my Al pastor salad was so so salty I could barely eat it so I said to the waitress She said they could make a second one but my husband was done eating So she was nice and took it off the bill My husband likes his meat dish So we have gone two times and it was good Al pastor So I don't know what happened ????

Do you guys fry taco chips and meat items in the same fryer? I am vegan want to make sure that before ordering taco chips. Thank you

The fryer is shared. But most menu items can be substituted and made completely vegan.

What's the best thing to order here that's not spicy at all? Hard to infer from the reviews.

I would say anything! Simply remove or put pico on the side, choose whole beans and a non spicy meat (all but the chicken tinga). You may ask your server, they are great at re-arranging dishes to suit your needs!

    No. They are not

We sat near the bar high top and ordered Mexican corn and poblano cashew enchilada with carnitas. Both dishes were enough for 2 people to share. The Mexican corn is fairly standard, with cotija and some chips to supplement the dish. Portions were quite decent and the corn was fairly good. The cheese is nicely melted for that nice long cheese pull. The poblano cashew enchiladas were very delicious. After all, people say that's the dish that makes them stand out. There are 3 pieces of enchiladas with a generous amount of carnitas. There's also some pickled onions and other fixings to enhance the dish. The sauce was rich yet not too heavy. Service was really good. They checked up on us once in a while and ensured prompt water refills. The whole experience from the food to the decor to the service, is top notch and worth the above average price tag.

(those burritos are massive omg.) the mole enchiladas were SOOO good, as were the cashew poblano enchiladas. their sauces are so yummy and the presentation was on-point for both enchiladas. i also had a bite of my friend's carne en morita which is a slow cooked pork dish, and i was obsessed. the only thing i'd say to pass on would be the tacos. drinks were also great and had amazing presentation. i was very satisfied with my carajillo and my friend's passion fruit mojito was also very tasty (you could NOT taste the alc in it i swear) overall, koko's is a great spot if you're looking to dress up for a cute night out but also craving some tasty mexican food.

The table also has two glass bottles of water for refilling as needed which I always appreciate. We started with the Bone Marrow and Queso Fundido and both were delicious. 10/10, no notes. I typically don't like Queso Fundido because it gets so greasy and the cheese hardens fast but this was flavorful, spreadable and the chorizo was a nice compliment not the main event. The Bone Marrow was exactly what you'd expect! So yummy. For our mains we got the Buenos Aires Torta (actually the reason we came to try Asadero) and the shrimp tacos. The bread for the Torta was flavorful and perfectly toasted. The steak was delicious and the chimichurri was so good I just wish there was more! My husband got the tacos and he said they were also very good! After we finished eating we were offered peppermint tea (complimentary) which was another really unexpected and unique touch/experience! The service from everyone was great. Very friendly. Quick service. The establishment was clean and so cozy but also upscale in a very chill way. Bathrooms were clean and smelled good with cute decor. It's not a huge place but I think that's what allows for such an attentive experience. From start to finish we really enjoyed ourselves and will absolutely be back with friends or family!

I'm usually a fan of a smaller, curated menu because it suggests care in sourcing and execution. But for us, the execution just didn't land. Everything is served family-style, but the portion sizes didn't justify the price point. We started with the sourdough and butter spread, and it was a letdown right away. The bread was hard as a rock, and the butter--while sounding interesting--came slightly burnt and didn't feel worth $11 for two pieces. Next was the albacore tuna tostada. As someone who travels to Mexico City often, I was genuinely excited for this. But it leaned heavily on avocado, with barely any tuna to balance it out. For $25 and only two tostadas, it felt pretty stingy. The rapini quesadilla sounded promising but ended up tasting mostly like broccolini and mushrooms--nothing that really stood out or justified the dish. We finished with the 21-day dry-aged steak, which, at $59, felt like it should've been a highlight. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. It came out essentially raw, which I didn't mind in theory, but it was incredibly chewy and lacked flavor. It was difficult to cut and even harder to enjoy. The tortillas were nice, and the demi-glaze had potential, but overall it just didn't come together. Even the refried beans on the side were underwhelming--something you could easily find done better at a casual spot. On the bright side, the mezcal margarita with a tajín rim was excellent--well-balanced and probably the highlight of the night. And the service was warm and attentive, which I appreciated. But overall, for the prices and the hype, this place just didn't do it for me. Maybe we ordered wrong, but I've had much better elsewhere. I hate to say it, but I probably won't be back.

Before it seemed like Maiz Molino was focusing on elevated, unique Mexican dishes (shown in the pics in my prior review such as short rib, and other sort of "fusion" dishes, and more seafood focused, etc.) Now, the menu seems way more generic and casual like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, etc. just offered w/ different proteins. They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. One is a generic all day menu and then another menu had brunch and dinner on it. It was around 5:30 p.m. but they were out of a particular steak dish that we were interested in. Service was friendly. We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.

I will be dreaming about this dish for years to come. I am a pescatarian and gluten free and there were TONS of options for me. They mostly use corn for everything, not flour.
