My sister and I wanted to try a new spot for Mexican food, and we came across La Gloria, and I'm so happy we did! The service was amazing. All the staff were very sweet. When we sat down, we were offered a tostada as we looked over the menus such a fun touch! And my sister and I tried the special drink our waiter told us about, a watermelon margarita. I loved it. My sister got the nachos while I got the quesabirria tacos everything was delicious, good portions with and fresh flavors plus the food came out fast! They have a bar area and a family-friendly section and on Friday nights they have a mariachi band playing! This was a really fun place. I can't tell you how many times I drove by this place without even knowing it was here. There is a small cluster of restaurants that honestly don't have the strongest reviews. La Gloria is the exception. Reviews glow, but since you have seen my score, it's clear there is room for improvement. Once seated, we were served a Tostada. This was a single small fried tortilla with beans, cabbage and salsa. Probably cost less than $.25 in material, but sells for around $7. Now whenever, I talked to my God Mother, rest in peace, about a new Mexican restaurant, her first question was always the same, "How were the Frijoles?". These beans were creamy, well-seasoned and flavorful. The best refried beans I've tasted in some time. I still say the appetizer is overpriced, but I also see why they serve you one free for dining in. We started with chips and salsa. I still say, they should be free, but at $4, it's a little tough to complaint, but I will. The chips came on a dinner plate. A dinner plate of chips would be about the same size as a restaurant basket of chips, however, there was a large bowl big enough for soup with the smallest amount of salsa in it. So now, 25% of that surface space is gone. This bowl which most likely holds 16 oz has about 3 ounces of salsa, in it and 1/3 of the plate space is empty, So you have enough chips for one person and barely enough salsa for dipping. The salsa was also tart, no heat, no seasoning, we were very disappointed. Last, if you charge me for chips and salsa, it better be bottomless, but once the chips were gone, they removed the plate and bowl without offering to refill either. There were a couple items that looked good to me, but they both had squash. Sorry, I've never heard of squash in Mexican food, unless it's vegan, but maybe it's popular in the region this family is from. Rather than ask if it could be removed, I decided to go with the Carnes Asada. The food took a while to arrive, but they said everything is made from scratch and fresh, so I anticipated a meal worthy of El Presidente himself! Now, clearly this place was not without its flaws, but this was the best Carne Asada I've ever tasted. I was really skeptical, because it was thick cut and when Carna Asada is thick cut certain things tend to happen, it's not cooked evenly, the meat isn't seasoned well enough, so bites end up being bland. No, this was juicy, well-seasoned and cooked evenly, flawless. It also came with a generous scoop of guacamole, that didn't really impress. It was also served with Fried Cheese, no idea what that is, sounds like something served at the fair on stick. I got several tortillas that were hot and fresh and a small cup of whole beans that could have used some crumbled cheese on top. There was also a large portion of rice, but the flavor was a bit fishy. I don't know if they used a seafood broth, but for me it was inedible. There was also a smoky, spicy salsa served, but again, it was a tablespoon. Stop being so cheap with the salsa! This also would have been a far better salsa to go with chips than what was served. Glad I tasted everything, but not sure I would order it again. I didn't eat half of what was served do to taste which means I overpaid. If we do make it back, it would probably be for happy hour. That way we could sample a couple other items in a smaller portion for less. Would I recommend this place, sure, but not without the above cautions included. I like to clean my plate and feel like I got a deal, neither happened here due to some questionable choices in flavor or seasoning. The people could not have been nicer, but I can't say we left completely satisfied. read more

We started with the watermelon margaritas which were fantastic! Since it wasn't warm evening, we ate outside in the shade. Everything on the menu looks good. But I ended up having the jicama tacos with prawns again. Light and scrumptious! My hubby had the ribeye tacos, which were a little too spicy, but absolutely delicious. We kept the night with the Milton lava cake, which was Rich and chocolatey! La Gloria is a Mexican restaurant in Bothell very near 405. It has a sizable bar that shares restaurant space with an Asian restaurant called Inchin's Bamboo Garden. The receipt calls out both restaurants. I met a friend for an early dinner and ran into a sizeable group of office workers who were there for happy hour. They were loud! I asked if we can move tables, and the server accommodated moving us to a table on the Inchin side of the restaurant, which didn't appear to be open that day. Phew, it was so much quieter; we didn't have to yell at each other anymore. Service was smooth and swift. A copy of their menu can be found on their FB page but subject to change. Parking is readily available at the building complex-lot. The Food: Quesabirra Tacos, $16 - 4 Stars This order includes two tacos, with a side of beef consommé for dipping. Diced onions and salsa round out this dish. The slow cooked shredded beef is very tender and flavorful. The consommé has pieces of beef to fish out. I dipped with the salsa instead. For the ambiance of being in a restaurant, this dish is good. If I only want tacos, there are taco truck options that are just as good at a lower price. So happy I chose this spot for my celebration dinner (got a job I was hoping for)! The vibe is so cute and festive and I really dig the colors and overall ambiance, which is big for me. The staff were all great from what I saw as well. I found it odd that La Gloria is connected to Inchin's Bamboo Garden and there is just a decorative half wall separating them. We were sat at said wall because we had a minor with us. Very unique indeed. I will say service was a bit slow, but it was pretty full inside. This is not a big restaurant by any means. It's much more intimate and mostly a bar. But the food! Clearly the owners are from Michoacán which is where my gf is from, and she was so excited to to try the enchiladas from her home state. We ordered a side of chips and salsa and a couple fajita bowls and were served a complimentary tostada appetizer after ordering. Tortilla chips were freshly fried and salsa had a mild-medium kick to it. The fajita bowl was great value for all the protein and fixings that come with it. Delicious hidden gem. I can't believe I didn't know about this place. The jicama tacos are a wonderful gluten free option. I asked for the sauce on the side so I could try the other salsa with them. I am so glad I did. The carne asada tacos were really good. The salsa that comes with the chips was super good and I added it to my tacos. They also give you a complimentary tostada per person. You can ask for no cheese. The service was really good as well. The place is primarily a bar with a few tables in the under 21 section. But well worth coming to this place with kids. After all this time, we finally made it to La Gloria. The dining room was lively with almost every table occupied, they've extended the dining room to include a place where minors are welcome, service was excellent, and prices were very reasonable. The complimentary tostada in the beginning was a nice touch. We had the roasted veggie queso appetizer that came with fresh and hot house-made corn tortillas and chips, and fresh salsa. I ordered the Chicken Tinga roasted poblano enchiladas. My husband had the Carne Asada and a Diet Coke. The queso portion was huge. More like a four person appetizer. If you get a brown slightly burnt bit and covered it with a little bit of that salsa, it was amazing. My enchiladas were also very good and what I expected. The sauce definitely made it. I'm glad I got it, but I would probably try something different next time. My husband's Carne Asada was perfectly grilled. The Charro beans were delicious. Tucked away in an industrial park shared with a McDonald's and Starbucks this is a bit of a hidden gem. It's a comfortable spot with friendly servers. Food was great and flavorful, not the disappointing fare of most chains. Shrimp ceviche, enchiladas and carne asada were great (although either have liked more char on the asada) and portions were generous. It's so hard to find a date night spot in the area which is open past 8:30pm! La Gloria really delivered. We loved the service, the vibe, the food and the drinks here! Although we came with a 3month baby and they are primarily a bar, they sat us in a separate area in the back, which was also less noisy. The vibe was lively - there was music and plenty of people having a good time. There was also a large family group of 20+ in the non-bar section, so you know they're family friendly. The staff was super sweet, and checked on us multiple times throughout the night - something I feel like I'm experiencing less at other restaurants? It was really nice as they were on top of it when we needed another drink or an extra napkin, etc. We got sat right away, and as my husband was always hungry, ordered right away too. They bring out a complimentary small bite of a type of large cracker the size of a taco tortilla, loaded with fixings including beans and cotija cheese. We also got margaritas, one regular rimmed with tajin, and one pumpkin. The pumpkin was sweet and goes down easy! The regular margarita - you can taste the alcohol more. The margs came out quick, and the food must've only taken 10minutes or so. We enjoyed the pork belly tacos, which were their special that day. The birria tacos were good as well, although I would've salted it more inside personally. The queso fundido comes out bubbling, and has a nice cheese pull if you want to make a vid for the gram. My birria and drinks were awesome! Siphiwe was our server and she suggested the hibiscus drink (I think it was a margarita) and it was delicious. The nachos were good also, I thought there was a little too much onion (which I don't like but my mom and boyfriend do). The chicken quesadilla was a pretty small portion but it's a modern Mexican bar so I didn't expect a jumbo quesadilla! It is a tortilla shell topped with refried beans, cabbage, pico de gallo, sour cream, and queso fresco. They give one to each person at the table. Refreshing, light, and tasty. The floors are concrete, and the tables are wooden with wooden chairs and suede seats. They have some tables outside with heat lamps, but the outdoor seating pis right by the parking lot so we chose to eat inside. You walk right into the bar and they have a restaurant further back. They actually share the restaurant with a Ramen restaurant. The chicken nachos came within 10 minutes of our ordering. There was so much shredded chicken on it along with refried beans, cheese, pickled jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole. This nacho dish is terrific. The cheese is evenly melted. The chicken is tender and flavorful. The refried beans are vegetarian. No lard used here. The chicken street tacos were the largest street tacos I have seen prepared. They come with onion, cilantro, and a large radish on top. Large chunks of chicken fill the taco. The guacamole on top of the nachos is heavy on the lime. However, it's like biting into a fresh avocado. The flavor was delicious. If I lived in the area, I would come here frequently. You can't beat the happy hour prices. The food is delicious! I have probably driven by the location many times but it is one of a couple other restaurants that share on end of the building. When you do find it, you will be happy you did. I am a Nacho guy and of course I had to try them. I was not disappointed. I had the shredded beef nachos and wowsers, they passed the test with flying colors. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I also love a place that has multiple options when it comes to Mezcal drinks which seems a bit rare. Sat at the bar. We came rather early on a Thursday so the place wasn't super busy. Bartender was super friendly, attentive and made pretty decent cocktails. They have a little bit of everything on their menu, except pork (carnitas/chicarones etc). They co-share the space with another restaurant that does not serve pork for religious purposes, which I can appreciate. Definitely was not a deterrent for us. We were given a bean tostada as a starter (instead of the typical chips and salsa), which I loved because I always end up eating way too many chips and salsa that I fill up on them before the food comes. Kudos to them on not being typical. Asked for their spiciest salsa, they gave us salsa macha which was tasty and a decent bit of spice. Ordered the queso fundido, it took almost 20 minutes to come. Way too long of a wait, especially since they weren't that busy. Queso plate was giant. Way too big for 2 ppl. Ordered two kinds of enchiladas because I wanted to taste multiple items on their menu. Vegetable poblano enchiladas were decent, but the poblano sauce lacked depth, a tiny bit plain. The chicken tinga enchiladas with red mole, were just ok. Sadly, Enchilada sauce was weak sauce and I couldn't tell if the meat was shredded chicken or beef, and it was missing cheese for my tastes. Overall both styles were a little bit of a let down. The hubby ordered the quesabirria tacos. Those had lots of flavor and I liked the green tomatillo sauce that came on the side. We did not order dessert because we were too full. The ambience is nice, I liked the Frida kahlo decor. The front patio was unkempt and needed some tlc. Overall the place was decent and I really liked the red sangria. When we arrived to our destination for La Gloria, we tried to find the entrance but it was hard to tell so we almost went around the building when one of the servers called us over and she lead us the way! She went out of the way to come looking for us! We thought that was very generous of her for doing that! However, the food and service were amazing! Hence the pics! Friendly servers! Energetic, talkative, welcoming! Love it so much we might come back again sometime soon! Last of all, the atmosphere is very pleasant, there's a bar on one side that leads to other tables if you love to drink then it's a perfect place, I personally don't drink so sitting away from the bar felt very comfortable for my husband and I. I was lamenting to my hair stylist, a Mexican food fan, that the only good Mexican restaurant I have found in Seattle is La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard. My test for good Mexican food is Mole. The Enchiladas Mole was fantastic, without the usual refried beans and rice. We found what we thought was a nice little hole in the wall. They have a thorough cocktail menu and a bunch of seating outside. Little did we know it would be truly one of the better Mexican places we have been to since moving here 10 years ago. The patrons all seemed to know each other as well as the staff which gave a small-town vibe. A few folks brought their dogs to the patio. The music was just loud enough and they have live bands on occasion. The food was truly excellent. I had the Fajita bowl and it was huge for a fair price which is hard to find these days! I love this place from food , service ambience it's perfect place to spend evening. This restaurant is shared with Inchin bamboo garden so I am surprise that both of these restaurant share the seating capacity and you are free to order from either of them. This is the first time I see sharing and it's benefits for customers like me for sure , who love Indian style Chinese and Mexican. My son literally saw how sharing helps both the restaurant , a great example for kids We ordered Prawn Jicama taco and , vege taco and it was amazing with all spiced veggie. It was made spicy and tasted great. We were served complimentary Tostada to start with and my son liked it so we ordered more. It was cripsy tacho with beans , cabbage and salsa on top. I really wanted to give this 5-stars, but there was a blip that has to stop me. We ordered chips and salsa and never received it and was charged for it. I would have mentioned something at the time, but they brought out a "snack" as they called it of tostadas and I wasn't sure if that was supposed to be it? And I felt embarrassed to ask. I do think it's worth a loss of a star to be put into that situation. It would be one thing to forget and not be charged for it anyway, but the way it added up kind of sucks. Also, $4 for chips when we're already spending $80 doesn't feel great to begin with. The tostada tortilla was delicious too, so I think we would have enjoyed the chips. But on to the food, which was still a 5-star experience on our tastebuds. Everything was absolute delicious. Between the payment blip and being awkwardly squished at the end of Inchin Bamboo restaurant it just misses being an addition to my best in the PNW collection, that's just how amazing the food was. 2nd visit required an update to my previous review. Chips nice and crunchy. Guacamole is perfectly balanced with lime and salt. Salsa Verde is probably the best tasting I have ever had. I am normally a red salsa person. On the main meal the beans were a little salty, but tasty. Spanish rich was mild and soft. Really good rice. This place was a total bust!!! First off no complimentary chips, and salsa was like WTF, every Mexican place in the area offers free chips, and salsa. Ended up ordering some chips and salsa. The chips were like deep-fried in the salsa tasted like fish sauce salsa. Also, it took about 15 minutes to be greeted with a drink order . For Mexican food, not to have burritos on the menu was definitely lame . Ended up ordering the ribeye tacos. The tacos were very small with a couple of pieces of steak, which definitely was not ribeye stacked with a few pieces of steak and some avacados they had very little flavor A buddy of mine ordered prawn enchiladas which, definitely he did not like . The restaurant is connected to a Thai food restaurant which seem like they top the enchiladas, with like a green curry sauce also after discovering that the enChilada had maybe one prawn dicected up to make it look full. Also, it did not come with rice and beans like most Mexican Cantina's in the area or really anywhere. Overall very disappointing definitely will not be coming back to this place. It was our first time in and we came for dinner on a Friday. We were able to seat ourselves immediately, although the seating options for La Gloria are far fewer than the attached restaurant (Inchin's Bamboo Garden). The service was friendly, restaurant was clean, and the mixed drink was strong! They had a few vegetarian options, this time I went with the Taquitos and they were piping hot and crispy, but the filling was a bit bland (I look forward to trying the other dishes though!) The nachos were hearty, and the molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was standard but it definitely hit the spot. The charge shows up as 'Inchin's Bamboo Garden' which is a bit confusing (the two places seem to share the bar space), however it was an overall decent experience and we'll be back to try out more of the menu! read more
