Nui Nui At Anderson School - The Original Zombie

What an experience for a birthday celebration. There were a lot of factors to went into making this…read moreall special. It was a Friday afternoon, so there was no one else there but us The ambiance of the place was so chill with the wispy octopi and blowfish that was reminiscent of the Crusty crab, if it was allowed to mature and become refined. The food was great but the drinks were phenomenal. The key component was the master bartender that just happened to be on shift that day. Michael. Talk about being someone who has a passion for their craft, being a master and loving every minute of it. The history of the drinks and their components, the origins of the makers, the sensory experience of the bitters and personal stories that went into every drink that he made. Some of them on the menu and some of them not. I asked for a rye whiskey drink and he produced the most amazing manhattan I've ever had. I inquired about Mezcal and he made me a drink that embodied the structured flavors of smoke and leather with sweet and savory. And then there was absinthe. The original Zombie was a fine introduction to that, and it did not disappoint, but he had a plan for each path. We will absolutely be back for more.

I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad night but we did not have a good experience here…read more Service was slow and we sat for a while before someone came to take our orders. The Cajun tots we received were cold and hardly any Cajun spice on them. I thought they mistakenly gave us the plain tots. No cutlery was offered with our sandwiches. We asked for a condiment but didn't get it until we were nearly done eating. It was a bummer as I was showing this place to a friend. I had talked it up and was left disappointed.

The menu changes seasonally, and they host special events once or twice a month with unique fixed food and drink pairings-so there's always something new to try (and the events are a blast). A huge part of what keeps us coming back is the staff. The servers are friendly and attentive (and a lot of fun to chat with if it gets slow). And if you sit at the bar (highly recommend!), Cameron and Michael take it to another level. They're both talented, passionate and a lot of fun. They're always happy to make something off-menu or surprise us with bartender's choice. They've definitely turned us into cocktail snobs lol. And the food absolutely holds its own. We originally came for the cocktails on another bartender's recommendation, but we were blown away by how good everything has been. The ribeye is easily as good (or better than) steaks I've paid twice as much for elsewhere. The burger and fries are among the best around-and these days, one of the best deals anywhere if you go during happy hour. Similar can be said for everything else on the menu; we've had every appetizer, entree and side dish at least twice :P And since we're usually posted up at the bar, when there's a lull we sometimes get to chat w/ the kitchen, and it's clear they take real pride in what they do. It's just an awesome place with awesome people! :)

They have a nice little patio area where you can enjoy your beverage and you are allowed to bring food from neighboring restaurants! We enjoyed a couple of rose pours here before I spotted the guava hibiscus sour from Payette brewing in Boise! So much flavor and the right amount of sour. Just how I like it! Right now they are practicing social distancing and allowing only one person in the lobby at a time with a second register at the back for ordering once you've been seated out back. There are so many good options available in this tiny footprint of space right off the main drag in Bothell. I look forward to future visits to this neat spot!

I got a small glass of some rando cider, but I think that I got charged a higher peace than what was listed on the chalkboard menu that hangs up above the cashier table. Staff was welcoming, but idk...was not feeing comfortable here. Very tight, too. Only like three stools to sit at if you decide to stay at this bar. Very cold here, too. At least the bathroom was spacious...arguably more than it had to be because would be nice to have more floor area at the front so more customers could be seated. Not much else to say except that the bonsai bar workshop was a cute experience, but also very hard to hear them because the portable heaters would be running, but gave out no heat after 30 minutes. Soooo, what was the point? Hm...

Food & drink: (4/5) Ironically only one person in my six person group likes beer, with two others (including myself) who are turning around to it. With that being said, I got the american pie cider, two of my friends got various IPA's that I'm failing to remember names for, two others got root beer, and another got a kombucha. I really enjoyed my cider! It was refreshing and I would definitely get it again. As for food, we got fries with truffle oil and a monster cookie with vanilla ice cream. It was all so good! I would only say that the fries are in need of more salt but that's something I could've easily asked for (was too lazy in the moment). Service: (5/5) STELLAR staff here. Everyone is so friendly and there were all smiles when I looked around at other guests.

It's at the corner of one of the buildings. Dark, mid sized interior with some cool neon lights and light up marble pattern bar counter. Not very busy when I went at happy hour/dinner time on a Friday night, but the place is busier later at night on Friday/Saturday during the warmer months. Sometimes they have events and DJs. Sat at the bar and tried out some happy hour specials. Got the Korean sauce wings ($12) and cheese truffle fries ($8). Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

We got the Atlantic salmon BLT sandwich and the piece of salmon was huge. The paella was delicious and I highly recommend it. The service was good as well. My only complaints are the restaurant was really cold and people were putting coats on inside. Also $30 for the paella is way too much for the size of the dish. It's tiny. They should add more rice and a larger dish.

I'm sorry I didn't get her name. I ordered a Rue Old Fashioned and it was perfectly blended and tasty. I wanted lite so ordered the Coronation salad and it was so good, just the right an out of chicken thighs grapes, cranberries and shaved almonds and the smooth curry dressing was so delicious. It was so perfect and I'll Definitely order it again. Then, I ordered the bread pudding to go. It came with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream with some caramel sauce. However, the bread pudding itself was close to in edible. It must have been made weeks ago and was so dry it almost required a jackhammer to break apart. I was so disappointed and ended up throwing most of it out. This place is less than a block away and I've never had a bad meal there and I highly recommend it. But recommend passing on the bread pudding unless you want something to throw at an ICE agent. 2/2822026 -amendment-I stopped here again for lunch.
