My 8 year old says it's the best chicken tenders he's ever had. He says "you have to go for the chicken tenders and the tortilla chips are great with extra salt." "It's so good.Period." Seriously though, this place is good. Even my picky "Mexican food is terrible seattle" wife enjoys this place. Experience: they first served us fresh tortillas which were good, but not great. They tasted like they had been sitting around for a little while. But then, they gave us a second one, and it was fresh and great! The two salsas are good. Have a little bit of heat. I enjoyed them. The kids menu is good. There's plenty of items for little humans - plus they love the tortilla chips. Decent beer and mixed drinks. I can get my Negra Modello, so that's all that matters. They have Pepsi products. I had a carnitas plate. The servings are big, but not huge. I cleared my plate. I think my wife has enchiladas. She said hers was a 5/5. So, come here! It's good! Update- something (or nothing) happens in the bar between when your order is taken and when food is delivered. Most recently, we ate our HH apps and fully ordered our dinner for 3 of us. Had a long convo about what was recommended... took the advice and ordered it, and it never came! Same thing happened with our drinks. We never got our second round. We ended up cashing out and going to Amaro. The other time I ate in the bar, the wrong meals were delivered to our table. We had to flag them down, tell them and they picked it up and delivered it to the correct table. I'm honestly rethinking my visits here. So disappointing. read more

We were planning to go to a different restaurant next to them but saw their nice outdoor seating and decided to go to Agave instead on a Saturday for lunch. The food was great but the service was extremely slow. It took a very long time for them to come take an order. We asked for napkins when we ordered the food but no one brought us any. The food came but we still had not received any napkins or even utensils so we had to ask again. Their highchair for babies were dirty and looked unsanitary. read more

I would say this place is off to a good start, but room for improvement! The vibe is a little more upscale than Poquitos was, but I found the menus and pricing to be similar. My friends and I went for happy hour and there weren't many people there, but I also don't think they have been fully announced to the community. We got happy hour margaritas, which were good. A few sips in, we realized it was nearing the end of happy hour, so we asked if we could order another round before happy hour ended. The waiter brought them out IMMEDIATELY, while we still had full drinks. I felt like it was pretty clear that we just wanted to get the order in but were in no rush to get the drinks, so this was kind of odd. Also, after 2 margs back to back, I wasn't even slightly buzzed. Not very strong. I got seafood enchiladas and WOW. Some of the best I have ever had. The sauce on them was incredible, I could take a bath in it. Really creamy,but not too heavy. I loved my meal. We had to ask for chip refills a few times. For it not being busy, it felt like the service wasn't super attentive. At the end, we asked for separate checks, which we had established at the beginning of the meal. The guy came back with a pen and went through each item one by one, asking who got what. When we got to guac, we asked to split evenly and he looked like he was going to faint. We decided to give up and just put it on one check. It was WEIRD that he had no idea what we got and that this was the only system for him to split it. He was doing it with a pencil! The food and space is great, but it felt like the staff was all on their first day of serving anyone, ever. I get that they are new, but it feels like nobody we interacted with had ever worked at a restaurant. Hopefully this is just a learning curve and this improves over time. I am not in a rush to get back , but eventually will return to my enchiladas. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant!! Spacious, beautiful interiors, comfortable seating, friendly staff, and of course delicious food... Been here twice already! I feel like the cocktails are a bit watered down. Maybe I just haven't found one that I really like (tried the cilantro jalapeño, and the mezcal scratch). In terms of parking, there's street parking nearby (just around the corner) or there's free retail parking inside the building (up till 10pm). Their food is generous! Highly recommend the carne asada!! Love that sweet potato fries come on the side for kids. Bar seating area is pretty nice. read more

Delicious shrimp ceviche for two, freshly made, sweet and tangy. Fish (cod) tacos, were enough for two people. Beef brisket enchiladas was more than one prison could eat. Wanted to try Agave and I'm so glad we did. Oh my, lovely ambiance, food and service. The place is absolutely beautiful, and huge. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. We went at an odd time, but assuming they get pretty busy so plan accordingly. They had tons of vegetarian options, and I was so glad. The nachos were served with delicious tomatillo and salsa. SO GOOD! The pineapple juice was so fresh, and the sweet potato fries - perfect! And the show stopper for me was the artichoke tacos. I've never had anything like that, was so well seasoned and delicious, plus the rice on the side was so so good. Overall, some of the best Mexican food I've had and I can't wait to go back. We were really excited to try a new Mexican restaurant in our area, so it's with some regret that I have to say our first impression wasn't great. We were seated quickly and had a great server who got us a couple of margaritas to accompany our chips and salsa. Everything was great and tasty. I don't know if they offer refills of the chips, because we finished our bowl and were never offered more, though we did have people ask at least 4 times if we wanted more margaritas, which we declined. The weird thing is that nobody ever took away the empty bowls or glasses, so now we had a stack of empty dishes on the end of the table. But that's not the problem. The problem is that our food never came out. You know how when you're waiting and it seems like you've been waiting a bit, and then you see a table next to you getting their food before you? Then a second table, then a third. I finally flagged down what I think was a manager that was walking past and asked him to check on our food for us. At this time our server came by and we mentioned it to her as well and she went to see what was going on. The worst thing is that nobody came back to fill us in on what was going on. No info, no apology, nothing, until about 5-10 minutes later when a runner came out with our food. Had someone just come over and apologized and explained what happened, it would have been 100% ok, but to be completely ignored is terrible customer service. The food that we got was decent, though mine was now lukewarm, but my wife said hers was hot. It wasn't bad, but it's hard to gauge when you've been waiting for an hour. This is where the chip refill could have come in handy. In the end they did take 50% off of our two entrees, which was again weird because nobody mentioned it, I just noticed it on our bill. The server did finally apologize and pointed out the credit when she picked up our card, but again, at this point it's just too little too late. Even if the food was ok, it's not worth such bad customer service, so we probably won't go back. I'd much rather go to Julio's or any other restaurant nearby that knows how to treat a customer. read more

First off: this place sets a new (high) bar for Mexican food restaurants in the area - - the outside is inviting, and the inside is really cool. Secondly, we hit the jackpot with our server (Guadalupe) - - she was really sweet and attentive without being overbearing. Now for the food: we went for lunch and had chicken tinga tacos and brisket tacos that were to die for. Two tacos each, along with rice and refried beans that were also very good. The chips were warm and not greasy, and the salsa (both green and red) were very tasty. A great date night place - we'll definitely be back for dinner next time. We now have our new favorite Mexican food place, and since we live in Mill Creek it's only a short drive down BE Hwy to downtown Bothell. Well-done, Agave Team! read more

We were so excited to find parking today as we have tried and failed on several occasions. The place is very nice inside - it was not busy. The guy seating us did not say hello or greet us in any way and was confused on where to put us when we asked for a booth. We sat a long time before a waiter came, took 10 min to get a soda and another 10 for chips and salsa. Food came quickly - I had the carnitas dinner and it was not carnitas but rather a saucy pork roast. The rice and beans had zero flavor. Waiter dropped food and was not seen again, I got up twice looking for him and finally ask the bartender to help get us service. Will not come back and thankful saving us a stop at the Everett waterfront as we were exited to try the sister restaurant. Service was such a turnoff and the food not good enough and pricey for something lacking so much flavor to want to return. read more

They serve you a large bowl of nachos and 2 salsa's as soon as you sit down and they have a great bar & great drinks. The food was good, not great. I ordered the harbenaro brussel sprouts with my meal, and those were trash. I had to look up harbenaros just to make sure that I was getting the right thing. They used the green unripe ones for the sauce... and they added raisins and sunflower seeds to it. I had to deduct 1 star for that. We also ordered guac for the table, and it was heavily cut with tomatoes. And not a lick of salt or pepper, lemon/lime juice, or any other spices to spruce it up. I know people disagree with adding seasonings to stuff like guac, but considering that it was heavily cut you needed to do a little something. It was edible, but quite bland. One more star deducted for that. Otherwise, the restaurant was really nice and had a great ambiance. read more

We were then told it was already last call. It was disappointing because we weren't trying to order a full meal or stay long. I understand restaurants need time to close, but if last call or closing procedures start that early, it would be helpful to have that clearly posted so guests know before making the trip. read more

We have been to Agave about 6 different times since they opened! Love the flavors in all of the dishes we have ordered. Have had several of their street tacos and the seafood enchiladas which have a great flavored sauce on them. Service has been great 4 out of the 6 times we have been there. Seated outside our service was slow and not very attentive, the other time was during a World Cup game going on and the restaurant was extremely understaffed, not the waitress fault, she was essentially handling the whole dinning area. read more

Service was very attentive, so much that I inadvertently had three margaritas! the food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the bacon-wrapped jalapeños and chimichurri steak. There was a lot of other stuff on the menu we wanted to try. A great improvement on Poquitos. The ambiance is colorful and artistic yet with comfortable, flexible seating options. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Agave's in Bothell. While I loved the look of the former restaurant, I was pleasantly impressed by the subtle changes that added to a warm atmosphere. Our wait staff were attentive and quick to update us on the progress of our meal and checking in on drinks. I didn't take a photo but the cocktails we had were excellent and not watered down like we find is common at a lot of other restaurants. The menu options were perfect - not so much it loses quality, but enough that there were excellent options. I believe it was the manager, who came around to clear plates and asked if we were pleased with our meal - which we were. I have a feeling we will be regulars in no time! read more

So so much better than Poquitos. Wow, what an experience. The flavors are explosions in your mouth. We had the chicken fajitas and the chicken tinga tacos with jicama slaw. I haven't got past the tacos on the menu and still haven't tried all I want to. All have been Stellar. Happy hour has some great deals. As far as the atmosphere, they kept all that was good about Paquitos, and made it better. More open, more light, better seating. Service at the bar is very good. I hesitated to try this location, because a friend visited earlier and had bad service. We came for dinner with an open mind, and I was pleasantly surprised by the attentive and friendly service. While the business was relatively busy, we received good service. The food as great and reasonably priced. I would recommend it for a nice comfortable dinner.
