What an experience for a birthday celebration. There were a lot of factors to went into making this all special. It was a Friday afternoon, so there was no one else there but us The ambiance of the place was so chill with the wispy octopi and blowfish that was reminiscent of the Crusty crab, if it was allowed to mature and become refined. The food was great but the drinks were phenomenal. The key component was the master bartender that just happened to be on shift that day. Michael. Talk about being someone who has a passion for their craft, being a master and loving every minute of it. The history of the drinks and their components, the origins of the makers, the sensory experience of the bitters and personal stories that went into every drink that he made. Some of them on the menu and some of them not. I asked for a rye whiskey drink and he produced the most amazing manhattan I've ever had. I inquired about Mezcal and he made me a drink that embodied the structured flavors of smoke and leather with sweet and savory. And then there was absinthe. The original Zombie was a fine introduction to that, and it did not disappoint, but he had a plan for each path. We will absolutely be back for more. read more

I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad night but we did not have a good experience here. Service was slow and we sat for a while before someone came to take our orders. The Cajun tots we received were cold and hardly any Cajun spice on them. I thought they mistakenly gave us the plain tots. No cutlery was offered with our sandwiches. Fun tropical tiki themed restaurant and bar with rustic south sea vibes. This Nui Nui is at Anderson School above the Northshore Lagoon swimming pool. We've been here a few times and always enjoyed their food, drinks, and service. Their cocktails are amazing and pairs well with the chill atmosphere. Seating is spacious and is perfect for group gatherings. Cocktails are undeniably their forte. Their menu features 13 cocktails, however their bar has a decent collection and can certainly create more than what is listed on the menu. My favorites are The Original Zombie, Painkiller, and Jungle Bird. The Original Zombie has a limit of 2 per customer and for a very good reason. They also have a kiddie cocktail menu featuring 4 drinks. And yes, they're non-alcoholic. Their food is also noteworthy. I tried their Tokyo Tots, Nui Nui Banh Mi, Big Wave Brussels Sprouts, and Saigon Kick Chicken Tenders. The Banh Mi was decent and was served with a side of mac salad. The chicken tender was spicy and was topped with pickled carrots and daikon radish. The brussel sprouts were crispy and flavorful. Our server was very attentive and always checked in on our table. Overall, a great neighbor spot. They do have a happy hour menu and is worth checking out. read more

On an overcast and dreary day, Nui Nui transported me back to a tropical oasis. TLDR: poke bowl and Mai Tai was an exceptional combo. This property was a new experience to me, though I've heard of friends speaking highly of McMenamins throughout the years. Now I had a wedding to catch in the mountains, so time wasn't really on my side. However, the staff was accommodating and extremely friendly. When you walk in here, you're immediately on island time. The low lit bar and restaurant was built intentionally with little details creating a classic Polynesian experience. If I'm at a tiki bar, it's pretty difficult for me to not order a Mai Tai. The classic cocktail is the measure of a great tiki bar. Served in a traditional mug, I found the drink to be balanced and nuanced. Order one, hell order two! Food wise, I remember at the time being at a standstill. It all sounded good! They didn't have what I originally ordered, so I pivoted to the poke bowl. This bowl was amazing! Fresh fish, fresh toppings, and surprisingly filling. If you like tiki bars, Nui Nui is a must! read more

Such a fun spot to try out! It's the ultimate tiki bar experience and reminded me of Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room minus the animals :P my family got seated right before happy hour ended on a weekday and we got seated right away! Got some drink and app orders in before HH ended thankfully. All day happy hour drinks on Tuesdays for healthcare workers too! I got a mai tai and my husband for their moscow mule, drinks were tasty and came in fun tiki themed cups! For apps, we got their firecracker shrimp sliders and ahi poke. I'd definitely get the firecracker shrimp sliders again! Ahi poke was a pretty small portion. My mom and I split the Goonies burger and it sounded like it was going to be pretty tasty but I sadly wasn't super impressed. Burger was under seasoned and was pretty small for what they charge. Love this 2nd story bar that overlooks the lagoon pool! It's a long thin bar and each end has a fun more private room. The staff are always attentive and we love the selection of Tiki drinks and Asian Fusion food here. It's spendy but McMenamin's has upped their game with food. Got the happy hour food, the poke nachos, sliders and sweet potato fries. The only downside was the poke had tortilla chips instead on my expectation of wonton chips. read more

Nui Nui at Anderson School is one of my favorite McMenamins bars! Having visited the Edgefield, Elks Temple, and Kennedy School locations, I'd say I've hit quite a few and Nui Nui stands out. I've come here twice now and both times have been a treat. The vibe is so fun - how could you not love a tiki bar?! Love the low lighting and as always, MceMenamins themed Nui Nui to the nines. We were here with a bigger group of 7 and were treated to the semi-private room off to the side. The room overlooks the pool as most spots in the restaurant do, which is always fun tropical feeling addition. We went later on a Sunday so the pool wasn't busy at all and there was no additional noise from it. Service was great and all of our food and beverages came out quickly throughout the evening. This time around I opted for the Kalua Pork Plate which was delicious. It comes with rice, mac salad, pork in a huli huli sauce, and a roll. The pork was tender and extremely flavorful and the mac salad hit the spot! While we were at a tiki bar, I still opted for a beer. The former Kraken (now called the Leviathan) hazy IPA is always my go to. Definitely bold flavors happening here, but strong and delicious! Always a great time at Nui Nui and highly recommend checking out! read more

Went here with a group of coworkers and had a lovely time! There were 7 of us, so we made a reservation and ended up getting a semi-private room with a view of the pool. It was SUCH a vibe- this location is so well-themed and felt so fun and quirky. The service was lovely. They got everything right on the first try, checked in appropriately, but also let us have our fun. We got a variety of tiki drinks and they were all wonderful. I also got a curry bowl and thought it was great, but a little light on flavor. Still good! They have some veg and gluten free options here and the menu has labels that make this very easy to decode. The vibes here are so fun that I would LOVE to come back. Don't miss some shareable brussels sprouts too- so amazing! read more

I'm a big fan of tiki bars, they just make me smile. This one sits on top of an indoor pool complex, and is decorated as only the McMenamin's chain can ;-). The food is always great, and the service is always spot on, but the drinks are always fantastic and extremely tiki. This is a great date spot in Bothell and won't break the bank. I used to go here with coworkers for happy hour, and generally have enjoyed it. In fact, I usually enjoy all the McMenamin restaurants/bars: great beers and tots, tots, tots. On this most recent visit I wasn't feeling it: the vibes or the food. There's something a bit unappetizing about the smell of chlorine and the pitter-patter of flip flops running through the restaurant. We ordered the "Tokyo Tots." I loved the tots themselves, and some of the saucing (wasabi-spice, sake bomb glaze, scallions), but the overall effect was "meh." The glaze was drizzled on top and the tots on the base (2/3 of them) were under-glazed and essentially unseasoned. I also had the Mai Thai Steak Salad. The Lemon Grass-marinated steak was over cooked (tough), under seasoned, and surprisingly bland. It felt like a typical steak salad you might get at a much lower-scale venue. I missed the usual McMenamin flare and any real Asian flavors. The drinks were all very good. I enjoyed the Saturn (a gin and passion fruit inspired libation). It was sour and tangy and a little sweet: nicely balanced. There are a lot of fun Tikki options (including some kiddie cocktails). The service was also good, very attentive. read more

Fun hidden Tiki Bar inside of Anderson School above the Northshore Lagoon swimming pool. A bit of a challenge to find but worth the effort. The bar is long and narrow to fit the space but it is chock full of some pretty cool tiki items. We ordered some Cauliflower bites and sweet potato fries to go along with our drinks. I had the McMenamins Lager which is pretty easy drinking. The bartender was not very engaging but we didn't let it bother us. We loved the food here and it came to us pretty quickly. The decor is done so well with plenty to look at and lots of hidden nooks and crannies around for a variety of seating options. Definitely a good place to hide for a drink and you won't be found! I recommend going here as the vibe is pretty cool and the food and drink are above par. read more

This place is a really fun place to go in the dead of winter to transport you to somewhere warm. We've been just as a family before but also had out daughter's 2nd birthday here after an hours swim in the pool and our friends enjoyed the space so much that two others have recently had their birthday parties there too. The space is dark and cozy and has views of the pool. The food is a little pricy but actually really pretty tasty. We've ordered mostly finger foods and things that kids would like and all of that was pretty standard but well executed. Staff are present and accommodating but also don't go expecting a high level of service. Delicious drinks. read more

If you're a fan of tropical style tiki drinks, this is the spot for you. My wife and I are tiki fans, and we came here after flying in from out of town and were super impressed! The drinks were all very well balanced. The food was all exceptionally well flavored, filling, comforting, and all around delicious. And our server Bailey was great in giving us recommendations, making sure we had everything we wanted, and keeping the meal and drinks coming at a good pace. Waited for over 80 minutes for food. Other restaurants were over and hour wait for food to come out so we bailed.

The drinks, location, decor, and food are all fantastic. HOWEVER, the service and lack of dedicated age 21+ tables are not. Adults can sit in the very small section of two person tables at the bar, or you can sit in larger tables to the left and right of the bar. But unfortunately, if there are more than two adults in your party you have no choice but to sit along side with families of children, and more often than not, young children that were just at the pool, and are now hungry, cranky, and tired. I get it, the parents want to unwind and have a meal with your kids. But I don't want to hear their tantrums, watch them running around, or have them practically crawl over me to look out the window at the pool. Nor do I want to watch my language and worry about what adult conversations they may hear. McMenamins could alleviate this situation by expanding the 21+ bar to include the tables on either the left or right side of the bar. A very simple solution would make this great tiki bar more desirable for everyone. read more
