Bartenders are absolutely wonderful (but the drinks can be pricey). KJ Shan is also wonderful and there's a great, wide selection of songs. The tablets for entering your info and song run terribly slow. Bathrooms are clean and well-stocked, though not labeled well--women's restroom is straight down the hall, men's is to the right just after the photo booth. Unless they're meant to be unisex, but I don't think that's the case? This place is PACKED wall to wall after 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, and I've never dropped in those nights where it wasn't an upbeat and pretty cheery vibe. When I say packed, I mean that you should wear an outfit where you can take off layers, because it gets WARM. On the weekends the song queues can get LONG but you're able to manually check where you're at in line via the tablets. If you wanna leave before 12am, get there and put your song in no later than 8pm. Expect a $5 cover on weekends, too, though sometimes it's $10. Which is crazy. And yet, I still pay it... People are super nice and if you aren't bringing a posse out with you, a lot of folks don't mind you sitting with them at their tables if it's busy and they have an extra seat open. A lot of times people will get down by the stage and dance to songs people are performing, which is just the best when it happens. Had a great time with my friends, but the karaoke host was kind of a dick. Who cares if you don't put two names for a song you want to sing with a friend? The technology is super slow and mildly difficult to navigate, and he refused to give my friend another mic for a song that another friend wanted to join on after she signed on. Instead of explaining anything like a human being he just pointed to the lengthy instructions on the machine. It's fucking karaoke, it's not that deep. I contacted them to reserve tables for a party, but they double-booked the space. The waitress was great and she quickly found my party another spot. HOWEVER, all the reviews about the DJ/KJ are correct. I did one individual turn, then following my turn put in a request to do a song with my friends. I correctly inputted us as a group, but at the time of our turn was told I was not allowed to go up because I had already gone. Since my turn it had been about 2.5 hours, and other people had been able to have multiple turns to sing since I had been there, including from the party that they double-booked me with. I brought this up to management and was given a partial refund and coupon, however they clearly cosign this guy's horrible behavior. I will not be returning. There are plenty of other places in Seattle to do karaoke without being treated like that. Especially when I brought over 15 paying customers with me. Also - there was definitely someone over served. Came here because my guy loves it, and I should have known better about ordering a sweet drink, as they're not my preference. I was eager to try a tiki drink, though, and our really kind server picked up on that. They recommended a Mai Tai. They were so welcoming and friendly on a relatively quiet Wednesday night, and I did my best to act happy with my drink, but they sensed my disappointment and offered me a free drink. My guy happily took my mai tai and I ordered a vodka soda, into which I could tell they put good quality vodka :o) So I came away very happy and feeling cared for. Came here on Halloween night expecting a big crowd, had to pay a cover to get in which I wasn't a big fan of considering the wait to actually karaoke was extremely long. Drinks were fine, but the bar staff were the rudest people I have encountered in a long time. Friend and I got yelled at in the bathroom by a bartender because we were "taking too long in the stall." Again, Halloween so we needed a few extra moments to reassemble costumes after using the bathroom, however she decided to accuse us of doing drugs in the stall all because we took a few extra minutes after peeing to fix our clothing. The vibes inside are great, and though it wasn't packed on the Monday night, there was a good handful of people and a good audience for karaoke. If you're trying to sing, make sure to put your name on the list early, unless you're down to tip to make your name go higher. This was the second stop in our bachelorette bar crawl and my first ever karaoke bar. It might just be me but I was nottttt into the karaoke bar atmosphere!!! It was so dang loud and the awful singing hurt my ears so much. The constant stopping and starting of the music while the next group was coming up and getting started was annoying. First negative review of a bar, but what a shitshow! This place is wild (which is perfectly fine), but after a beer, I went to use the restroom and walked in on some frat guy pissing on his friend's leg. I could tell because there were four of them in there (all wasted), and the guy getting pissed on was shouting, "Bro, Jake is literally pissing on my leg right now, what do I even do?" I work at a brewery, so I went to tell the bartender what was happening so he could address the situation properly. Telling a bartender about some bathroom piss party you just walked in on is awkward, so after I told him about it, I simply mentioned that I was an industry worker and that's why I wanted to let him know (didn't ask for anything, was simply trying to be relatable). This was met with him throwing his palm up in my direction like I should stop talking, which was pretty weird given that I was just trying to help him out. I really don't mind a no nonsense bartender, or even an unfriendly one. It's a hard job sometimes and I've definitely had my fair share of bad nights. This was just weird and I felt like I got treated like a part of the problem. The gals behind the bar were nice, but Karaoke guy was also super rude to a ton of people trying to navigate their weird ass sign up system. I'm sorry, I really wanted to love this place. I mean, karaoke 7 days a week, 365 days a year? Yes please! However, the system to actually input your name and then your song is God awful. If your main entertainment is karaoke, you'd think that you'd have that shit dialed in. The touchpad to create an account and then enter a song in is spotty, glitchy and the DJ has zero patience for anyone using the system. I've seen karaoke bars that use a paper system and a huge binder of songs 5x more efficiently than this shit show. We were there for 4 hours and each got one song in (out of 3 people). Yes, it was a Saturday but that is some high level karaoke mismanagement. Moreover my bill for 2 people was $160 with tip. Uhhhh, sorry, charging exorbitant prices for drinks at a bar who makes their name on karaoke is not in any way, shape, or form acceptable. My absolute favorite karaoke night spot!! I've been here several times, and I've never been disappointed. From the moment you enter, you feel the Hawaiian theme - but there's no requirement to pick tropical themed songs. I personally don't drink, so I can't comment on their beverages, but it's a great time even for sober folks. The vast song selection makes it easy to find something for everyone, and I love that they ensure that a song can only be sung once that night. This way, even if you aren't the one singing on stage, you get to enjoy a variety of songs and not just the same few repeatedly. Hula Hula is a classic place to have some fun in Seattle. While mildly overpriced, the drinks are delicious and taste like vacation, and the food selection is really good as well as tasty. The crab rangoons are a must try and the totchos (or vegan totchos) are amazing! The service is consistently good here, and my only complaint is that they do karaoke 7 days a week (may not be a complaint for some) so it is never quiet or super chill there. We sat down and received actual table service which isn't common at most Bar Lounges but I assume since they served eats as well this isn't too uncommon (and always welcome). They serve food until midnight and have a solid happy hour with vegan and gluten-free options... Hula you're Hulaing your way into my heart. Tall tables, Tiki decor and tenacious tunes between karaoke sets. Sign up for Karaoke yourself... that's right it's self service as they have tablet like devices around the Karaoke Jockey booth just right of the main entrance. It takes a minute to figure out the system (though it's easy to use) and if anyone else has performed the song you wish previously... it will not go through... so check in with the KJ to make sure you're actually in as this happened to my best friend Ryan twice. Also make sure you're entering yourself as a new artist. You can't sign up for a second song until you've performed your first however if you arrive early you'll get to sing your heart out... the wait toward the later half of the night can be a long however social one. The banos/bathrooms are in the far back (left of the exit/main door/entrance) and are decent enough. The have some a fun photo booth that takes card or cash but is more than you'd expect. The drinks are a bit pricey so I suggest making your cocktail of choice a double... which they might also push a little now that I think of it... but I ain't even mad... I had never been to Hula Hula, but now can't wait to venture back for Seattle Shenanigans. read more

Cover charge on Saturday night was $6, which is really not bad for a place this poppin! Open mic karaoke is free, but you can always tip the DJ to bump up your song. They call each name for about ten seconds to see if that party is still there, and skip to the next person in line to get the music moving. Apparently they have a loooong line of singers! A nice little tiki bar where you can sign up for karaoke. They have a large variety of songs that you can choose from. There is a little stage and if you choose a popular enough song there will be a small crowd right in front who will sing and dance with you. It's hilarious and such a great sight to see when the entire bar is singing along because everyone's just having a good time and embarrassing themselves one way or another. I ordered the classic Mai Tai ($11) which did not taste good. It was super sour and everyone at my table tried it and they all scrunched their faces as well. I had to power through to finish my drink and it was not pleasant. I'll make sure to try something else next time or get a well drink. A friend and I signed up to sing a song but there was such a long queue and we left before it was our turn. My friend and I are visiting from out of town this week and were told that this place was great. The drinks aren't really great, but the experience was okay until the DJ started taking the mic multiple times while other people were waiting for a chance to sing before the last song of the night. And this was after waiting for 2.5 hours!!! In my opinion, if it's known that the queue of people who want to sing is long and they've been waiting for a while already, then it would make sense for the DJ to refrain from singing long drawn out songs that have more of an instrumental break than actual song lyrics. The proud boys Customer Service. Here What happened to me yesterday to meet my colleague for a drink. Arrived and I was welcomed nicely by the security that most of them are familiar as I live in the neighborhood. I set with my friend and she ordered a drink for me. A bartender girl came to her and asked her the following : Do you know him?  My colleague answered that she knows me( god I was saved! After a little bit, another white bartender girl came to her and asked her the same question with more little proud boys spices. Do you really know him? Are you sure everything is okay?. My friend was chocked and she told me if maybe I killed someone there to deserve such a deep investigation knowing that I live in the neighborhood and all the bartenders around the area know me very well and I have a wonderful relationship with everyone except for sure the proud boys. I was there a few minutes from the time I'm writing this review today 2/22/24 and I asked about the owner but it seems that he is not working at night, so I asked about the manager to get some clarification as I felt discriminating and not respected especially with my colleague. I had a chance to talk to Omar "  the famous proud manager " who supposedly know that customer service is the key of any business success. Before I tell him anything, he initiated the conversation, I know why you are here he said? About yesterday correct? A customer complained about you. A girl came to us and complained about you misbehaving or disrespecting her or whatever? When customer complained about another customer then we go ask his friend but not him. Know that I didn't had any conflict that day or talked to anyone except my colleague. Omar wanted to fight me but I didn't want to play his game.
