As a whiskey lover, the Shed is my favorite spot to drink at Anderson School. It's probably the smallest bar I've been to in the Seattle area, but it has an amazing selection of booze, especially whiskey. I really enjoyed the To Hell With Spain, a nice riff on a Remember the Maine - Rye, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Luxardo, Angostura Bitters, Orange Bitters, with an Absinthe Rinse. They have a truly global selection of whiskey including ones from India and Australia. There are a few small tables inside or you can take your drink outside as well. Service was fantastic from the sole bartender, who really knew her whiskeys and cocktails. Definitely a nice spot to drink, as long as you are not in a huge group.

Small bar, very cozy and warm for Seattle weather. Bartender was super nice and makes pretty good drinks. Good for a small group of people if you want to sit inside but plenty of seating outdoors. Food was good too. Recommend if you want to relax and have a cocktail.

Small, cozy, inviting. This place is a total vibe. Best Old Fashioned in town. Great seating outdoors for good weather.

The Shed is a cozy little nook in the interior courtyard of the Anderson School, surrounded on two sides by the Tavern on the Square and the Woodshop restaurants, and sitting amidst the picturesque garden with its tiled paths, glittering Christmas lights, and pavilion tents with firepits and outdoor seating. Warmed by a sultry fireplace within, it is one of my new favorite bars. While the seating area has been gutted due to social distancing restrictions, I can imagine how wonderful it would be to enjoy a straight whiskey here, inhaling the fragrant wood smoke, and sitting tucked into a dim corner adjacent to the hearth. Fortunately, we were able to find a table next to the exterior fireplace, which sufficed for a decent consolation prize. Hard to ask for more in these troubled times! I can't wait to come back and enjoy the full experience! Try the rotating featured whiskey! I should have grabbed the printed menu, because I cannot for the life of me remember which one I had, but it was so smooth and warming, it vanished far too soon. I think I am going to call them and ask what it was. It was too good to forget.

A flaming feature... a McMenamins trademark near The Shed.

The Shed is one of the drinking and eating establishments and McMenamins' Anderson School. This is actually a great part of the experience here if you are doing the full tour for dining and drinking and of course gaining stamps for your passports. The Shed is small unlike the other places here so I imagine timing can be important on how many people are around and what special events are going on as to whether you can find a seat or not. There is outdoor seating which is nice providing the weather is cooperative and there is a fire place to enjoy both inside and outside. The Shed specializes in whiskey but they also have other libations available as well. Definitely a nice place to relax as long as a crowd isn't flooding out the place.

We loved visiting The Shed at the Anderson School McMenamins. The bartender was very knowledgeable of whisky, beer, and cocktails. Our drinks were delicious. The space was small but cozy and gave speakeasy vibes.

The ambience is charming. I've been there before when the weather was cold so the shed was cozy. It's a quirky experience has a shed, dive bar experience. The staff is really nice but the cocktails are very expensive for the quality that you get. The water served on a plastic cup also cuts any Shed vibe for me. But kudos for the service.

The patio was buzzing but we snagged a couple of Adirondack chairs around the fire pit and suddenly realized how perfect it was. Now. The espresso martini. I don't know what they're doing back there but it was absolutely perfect. My husband's cocktail (name forgotten, quality not) was equally excellent. We were well taken care of. The food? I ordered the breakfast special -- tater tots loaded with jalapeños and pulled pork -- and honestly it was so good that was. My husband's sandwich got the same rave review from across the table. No notes. Our waitress was an absolute gem. Funny, easy to chat with, and somehow kept great energy despite how busy it was. She absolutely made the experience.

Another plus is that Woodinville Whiskey Distillary is 25ft away as they share the same parking lot. We don't frequent Hollywood Tavern as it was our first time, but it was just too easy to drop by for a snack before stopping by the distillary. Found a table in the bar area that was just right with beautiful view of the whiskey bottles lining the window. We got prompt attention and reviewed the menu for the snack. I was about to get fish and chips but was steered toward the Cubano pork sandwich with french fries. My wife got a caesar salad with romaine instead of kale and we decided to try the fried pickles too. No drinks other than water as we had plans afterward. The positives is the location, the atmosphere and they had all the pub fare you would expect. The only thing that dampened the pleasure was everything the fries, the sandwich, the salad, and even the sauces tastes quite salty to me. My wife mentioned to me seeing red edges on the romaine in her salad typically meaning not as fresh as it should have been. Definitely a nice place for beer drinking in the bar or outside on the patio during these springtime days. Not sure of the root cause of the over seasoning, but I'll ask for lighter next time.

They have a beautiful facility and the tasting room was filled with souvenirs from shirts, jackets, flasks, glasses and all of them looked top-notch. Loved to buy a baseball cap, but my head is 61cm and I must have the velcro closure as the plastic snap hats are just too small & cheap for me. They have a counter bar area strategicly set with no chairs where it's comfortable for four 1/4 to 1/2 oz taste, but you don't get too comfortable. The hostess was pleasant, inviting and we honestly enjoyed reviewing the menu of +10 different whiskeys where we need to pick out 4 of them for the standard flight. They had a cross section of proofs between bourbons and ryes with a premixed old fashioned that was made by aging in maple syrup barrels. My wife went for ryes and i did the bourbons. I started with the 80 proof then navigated toward the highlight of the 115-proof. I was pleasantly impressed how drinkable without the burn going down was the 115-proof as it benefits from a sweeter, corn-forward base + cooler aging that results in better integration and less aggressive burn -- it "drinks easier" than the numbers would suggest. Of course, try what you can and it's great when you can share tastes between 2 people all the choices. For me, I found the cast strength aged 6 years 115 proof to be the best.

The opposite of a smash burger. Put some seasoning on the patties. Smush them to create more surface area for the seasoning. The bacon was undercooked and chewy, but the onions were perfect. I took a cooking class at a respected college on onions so I appreciate good onions. Also, I ordered it without sauce. The menu described it as "drive-in" sauce, but the cook said he didn't know what was in it. Instead of no sauce, he put a bunch of mustard on my burger. I ordered no sauce! I've worked in or for restaurants my entire life so I know better than to ever do something like that to a customer. Ever. The fries were the worst part of the experience. They were so undercooked they were soggy and a little nasty oily from whatever they put on them. They were cut way too thick for how little they cooked them, but with the extra oil and being undercooked, they were pretty darn good rewarmed in my air fryer. I'm not a Brussels sprout fan, but my friend substituted them for the fries for a reasonable $4. She really liked them. The only one of us that didn't have the burger had the king salmon. It looked really good, but my friend said it was tough. The piece he gave to me might as well been from a can. Also, it had way too much acetic acid on it I guess in an attempt to make it less tough. Their selection of beer is terrible, but to be fair whiskey is in the name. The beer was $9 for a Coors Light clone. That's too much for a beer that was flat from a glass that wasn't clean enough and from lines that tasted like they weren't cleaned often enough for the beer to form bubbles.

Located on the upper floor of Pike's Place, this cute bar has a good amount of seating with both table and bar top options. We went on a Saturday night at around 9 PM and it wasn't too crowded -- we were quickly seated at the bar top for a party of two. When you walk in you'll notice that they have a more rustic, dark ambiance that still provides a more casual feel. We were immediately greeted by our host and were seated right away! We were having a late dinner so we ended up getting the Tater Tots with all the toppings, beef tartare, and a side of their coleslaw. For the two of us, that was more than enough! Their portion sizes were very generous and filling. The tater tots were amazing, with the perfect amount of crisp, sauce, and toppings! The beef tartare was also so delicious with the perfect amount of seasoning and the yolk beautifully ran through the meat. For drinks, we ended up getting two cocktails as well as as a whiskey flight. For the cocktails we ordered the Turn the Page and Angel's Wings. Both drinks were absolutely amazing! It was the perfect balance of tasting the spirit with its complementary fruity notes. Our bartender also curated a flight for us based on our budget, preferences, and curiosities because we were interested in learning more about the different whiskeys and it was such an amazing experience!
