5 stars for quick service, good price ($5.99/lb), pretty tasty. Only wish parking weren't so bad. It's in a market, so you have to park kind of far and seating is limited. Go before 5pm and you should have plenty of room. read more

We went on May 14, 2016 and ordered Garlic butter crawfish, lemon pepper wings and seasoned fries. The crawfish were really small considering that they're huge this time of the year. The seasoning was good but if the crawfish isn't fresh then it's such a waste. Being a crawfish lover, we can tell they were mostly dead before they were cooked. The wings and fries were good but we're not coming back. read more

LA Crawfish - LA Crawfish - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Houston, Texas

This place is inside 99 Ranch Market. First visit: We ordered the crawfish : it was alright. Pho: it was alright. Crawfish tails: very good. 2nd visit: crawfish tail ( obviously it's good) . Ordered chicken wings with lemon pepper flavor: chicken is crispy outside, soft and juicy inside , and the flavor is just right. The beignet : BOMB!!!! Absolutely give this place another visit in near future! Please keep up the good work. read more

Always baffled by the line at this place when i go grocery shopping at 99 ranch. The crawfish is so inconsistent. I've eaten here twice, ordered the same thing, and they were completely different in taste. Someone is confused back there. read more

I had order here many times. This is the first time I had experience this. Before having my brother heading to pick it up. I had call in advance to see if it were fresh. The person answer said yes. So I had my brother pick up 30lbs. I had order them to bring them to Portland for my sister. First batch was all dark and giant and tasted frozen not fresh. And the next batch was smaller but it was more fresh. Not sure why we getting frozen crawfish when is in season? read more

Will never come back again. We have been coming to this place for years, love supporting small business, but unfortunately we will never be returning. We ordered 5 lbs of crawfish and every. single. Piece. Was over cooked and completely falling apart. We could not eat even half of it. We really are not the type of people to complain so we kept digging through the bag to see if there were any good ones as the juice was great. Sadly, it was a bad bag. We at this point told the manager and his response was "you should've told us before you pulled them out of the bag to check them. We can't do anything now at this point." They "couldn't" replace the crawfish. Mind you, you could push down on any shell in this bag and it would've been proven soft. And he refused to touch them to check. We are NOT people who complain especially at our favorite crawfish place. So this was extremely disappointing to hear that because we waited to complain and checked the bag throughly first, that they couldn't replace at least one of our meals. They weighed the bag that had nothing but juice in it and gave us back $9. Incredible. read more

I don't write reviews often, but my husband and I just had a little mini date at LA Crawfish. I wanted to surprise him with something fun and flavorful. And that's just what we got. Everything was delicious! We had the crawfish pho, tamarind chicken wings, garlic butter crawfish, cajun crawfish & the beignet fries. We love pho and this was spicy with crawfish and sausage. This was such a nice treat to have the fusion of these two worlds. I have to admit that we preferred the cajun spice crawfish to the garlic butter ones, however, dipping the cajun ones in the lemon butter sauce that they provide at the counter, made it the best! If you like getting your hands dirty, this is the place for you. We highly recommend this restaurant! We will be back with our kids and friends and family. read more

LA Crawfish - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Houston, Texas

Crawfish was horrible! Either frozen or severely over cooked. Some had heads and no tails. Others had tails no head. There were just head pieces where the tail was cut off with a knife. Fried fish basket was like eating fish jerky! Couldn't even bite through it. Was just a slice of fish batter and over fried. Good things: corn, sausage and fries. read more

Ordered a small sample of each flavor and I thought it was good, but not overwhelmingly amazing like people are saying. All the sauce & seasoning outside of the crawfish is good but the actual meat tasted the same between the three different bags. The surprise for me was how much more i liked their wings over their crawfish! I'd come back for the wings alone but would skip the crawfish. read more

Best crawfish flavor (Cajun) I've ever had. The gumbo is a bit odd and the chicken bites were terrible but the beignet sticks are to die for

DEAD CRAWFISH! U gotta be kidding me, this place sucks azz! The guy at the register told me with a straight face that the crawfish are live and medium sized. Most of mine were tiny, dead, mushy, and inedible. I should have asked for my money back. I spent $35 at this place and left hungry. I should have taken a picture of that garbage they served us. There are too many good crawfish joints in Houston to have to put up with this. Never coming here again! 1 star is too generous! This place deserves negative stars!! After I posted this review, I was accused of being a competitor from another crawfish restaurant. Just to clarify, I have no affiliation with any restaurant. I've lived in Houston for 30 years and have eaten crawfish for 30 years. I know the difference between good and bad crawfish. I came into your restaurant last month, and was very disappointed in the food I was served. Take this as constructive criticism. I'm not a hater, I just tell it like it is. Unfortunately, you guys dropped the ball and I won't be coming back. Be a man about it, but don't try to dismiss this review as a ploy from your competitors. I was a a legit customer until now. read more

Never again!! We will not eat at LA Crawfish ever again. We have ordered several times the blue crabs in butter garlic and 30% of the time those blue crabs have been dead too long. Meat has gone stale and decomposing to a white putty substance instead of fresh little chunks of crab meat. Today we ordered 6 lbs and 4 out 8 crabs were decomposing to putty substance. For the bonus, we felt weak in our stomach and something akin to a small case of food poisoning. We downed a couple of Tylenol's and felt a little bit better but never again! We know good seafood and LA Crawfish isn't it. If we were starting to vomit tonight, you can bet we'll raise some stink with Dept of Food and Safety. Be wary folks. read more

Great neighborhood place. You can't go wrong with the crawfish or the pho here. You order at the counter where they give you a plastic table cloth and gloves for your crawfish. So when you are done it's easy peezy, you fold up tablecloth and boom! Your done. read more

Crawfish ia terrible. It taste frozen and out of my 2lbs that I got, I ended up with like 6-10 that were to mushy to eat. You know the dead ones that you are suppose to remove from your batch before you boil. I gave this place a few chances, and its awful. The outside part of wings of course got flavor but when you get to the meat, it taste like its been in the freezer too long. I'd never recommend this place to anyone. There are a lot better cf joints. read more

Went with my family here last night for the second time, and I was pretty disappointed. The size was between small and medium, with the occasion big one. Since it's not really crawfish season yet, we kind of expected that. However, what we didn't expect was the crawfish to taste and smell frozen. It felt like at least a third of our order was filled with frozen/dead ones. We like to eat the heads, but you could definitely smell the stench when doing so. Thus, that was quickly out the window. Furthermore, our order had so much junk in it too, such as dead claws, overweight in juice, and just seasoning/garlic. I eat crawfish at least 1-2 times a week and frequent Cajun Kitchen on Wilcrest, and that's what you call fresh and good crawfish! It was 6.99/lb, which is about standard price nowadays. You do get 10% discount for checking in on either Facebook or Yelp when you place your order. The place is clean, which is a definite plus. One thing I REALLY didn't like was when the cashier scoffed at me when I added tip after I paid. Keep in mind that it's self serve - you order at the register, they bring out the food to your table, and you throw your own trash away, thus it is not full service by any means. So really, the guys working at the register don't really do anything for you. However, I still tipped about 8% of my bill. It seems like the cashier guy saw that and gave a slight chuckle/scoff, which is pretty rude. Listen guy, you should be glad that you're getting tip considering yall are just standing around behind the registers and calling out ppl's names to pick up their food when it's ready. In hindsight, I shouldn't have left ANY tip. In summation, I wouldn't come back here mainly bc of the food, but that cashier guy sure didn't help either. I gave it a second star due to the fact that I like the set-up and it's clean. Cf alone would be 1 star. read more

Do not eat here! They dont sell you the promised pounds of crawfish, and their crawfish is bad!

the quality of shrimp keeps on going down...the weight of the food decreases over time. They refused to cut the sausauges that we ordered, and they will not provide knives to cut? How are we suppose eat this 6 inch long sausage?? It's not like we carry knives in our pocket so we can use them at any given time. read more

Likes to advertise that it's fresh, but it's obviously a mix of frozen and fresh (product is being "cut" to get more quantity). I fell for the we have a farm so we get fresh ahead of others marketing ploy. A little embarrassed since the Richmond location fooled me last year. I suspect that they believe if they cut the product people would doubt their intuition that it's frozen, since the next piece may be fresh. This place is dead to me. Seafood Shoppe, although a little further out, is forever the best and always, I mean always live crawfish or they won't sell. read more

Food was really good. Shrimp easy to peel. Crabs were full and juicy. And 10% off bill with yelp check in

It is the worst experience ever!!! We knew there is a crawfish restaurant in 99 market and today we wanted to give a try. We ate 4pounds crawfish here. We understand now is off-season so we accepted those dry, unpalatable crawfish. And simply decided never come back. However, after we bought some groceries and got home (about 2-3 hours) me and my boyfriend FEEL SICK and I throw up. We had nothing before or after these. So I called them. I told them I wanted to talk to the manager and the lady said they don't have one. So I told her we feel sick after eating there. Then she called someone else to answer the phone. The guy said that food poisoning happens after 24 hours. It should be something we ate last night. It was bullshiting. Food poisoning is something way serious than having staleness food. If we had food poisoning, I'm gonna send you to jail! Then I asked him if you use fresh crawfish or not? He replied that our crawfish is PRE COOKED. I repeated ask him 3 times if you use fresh crawfish and he kept telling me it's pre cooked. So I said, you don't really answer my question, do you use fresh, dead or frozen crawfish to pre cook? He said, our crawfish are PRE COOKED and it is FROZEN!!!!! You are selling frozen crawfish for $8.99 per pound??!! And without letting people know??!!! Good luck with your business!!!!! read more

Time of dinner: 7:45 Now unfortunately for this place they had an off night compared to previous times I've been here but have not reviewed it. It's the beginning of crawfish season and I was hoping to get some at a place I know I like. A friend of mine was also coming along with me as they have never been to Ranch 99 before, so I wanted to take her some place new for her. While ordering, noticed something that caught my eye and got we wary of what I was about to eat. Pho. They have pho on the menu now. Don't get me wrong, I love a good bowl of pho, but when certain niche restaurants start to branch out in to things they weren't already previously known for, it starts to get fishy. Ended up ordering 2 lbs medium, 2 sausage, 2 potatoes, 2 sweet corn, crawfish empanadas (also never seen here before), and you guessed it a bowl of pho tai bo vien. We get our table setup of plastic table lining and roll of papertowls (brilliant btw, love it) and take a seat at the first table near the register, which is my favorite table since it's right next to the condiments and the new-for-me-since-i-haven't-been-here-for-a-while water dispenser. First out, the pho. Average to mediocre taste, if you have been to pho dang in HK4, they you've tasted this one. Some people like it there, I however don't think it's as fantastic as they say. Once you've had real pho in Vietnam, you can't really say one place is super awesome in the US. I'm not saying it's a bad bowl of pho, it's just that both Pho Danh and this place would fall in that massive gray area of, eh-it's-aite. Good hints of cinnamon and star anise which I do like, but the broth wasn't as rich of beefiness or as aromatic as I would prefer. Second, the empanadas. Now this was a little surprising. It was like they took their crawfish soup/etoufee, put it in empanada bread and then deep fried it. It was good, a little over fried, but good. It's a messy dish, so beware of leaky juices and crawfish falling out. They serve it with a korean chilli sauce which I believe to also be the their crawfish base, which I also like. I dip my crawfish tails in there too. Lastly, we come to the crawfish. Lets cut this one short. The crawfish were small, which is what I expected, mushy, and not as flavorful as I remembered. The sweet corn was overdone, felt like they went straight from freezer to the boiling pot and stay in there too long. Potatoes, also over cooked, did not keep any sense of shape after being bitten in to. Sausage was not as porky either, I think they switched sausages. I know this sounds like a horrible review and you're expecting a 1 star. I am giving it 2 merely on the fact that I know, I will be back again, probably at an earlier time in the day to get the fresher crawfish as opposed to the sitting-in-the-pot-all-day crawfish, and the fact that I know I've had better there and it's just the beginning of the season. This is my first review, so I hope you found this informative. read more

Great food! Everything will be eaten on the table. Nicely seasoned crawfish, blue crab, snow crab and my favorite huge shrimp! I like garlic with spicy sauce! Great dessert, New Orleans tasting beignets!!!! They are awesome! This place is inside of a market, but does have it's own little separate area. read more

Love the crawfish and spices. Must get the gigantic cold can of Asahi beer from the grocer.

I traveled all the way from Paris, France to get some crawfish!!!! I'm originally from the Bay Area in CA so I compare all crawfish to the likes of Boiling Crab and Crawdaddy's. LA Crawfish is very similar- vietnamese owned, Louisiana influenced. Crawfish are little on the small side? Or maybe its just the season...? Sauce is nice and buttery (garlic butter) - we got the spicy selection and MAN OH MAN it burns. Would have wished for the sauce to stick to the crawfish more instead of just being very liquid, but still very content with what we got. Staff is fantastic and on-point with all our mess. Very accommodating and helpful with all questions. read more

EASILY THE BEST CRAWFISH IN HOUSTON!! Not gunna lie, whether you're a Houston native or just passing thru on I-10, LA Crawfish is the spot. Every visit is consistently awesome! I usually order the spicy cajun with sausage and potatoes. BOSS!! The crawfish are always above average in size (YEAR ROUND) and perfectly spiced. And at $7 a pound it definitely doesn't hurt the wallet like other places may. I've also had their wings, fries, and garlic butter crawfish and shrimp. Spot on! The employees at the counter are always super helpful and very kind, even when they're working extra hard (that line gets pretty insane sometimes). LA is BYOB which works out rather well being that it's only 100yds to the beer aisle in the store. If you're not fortune enough to land a table inside their fenced in area then they'll give you a cup to pour your beer into while sitting in the cafeteria. If I had to make a complaint it's that the line gets intense at night. But how can you blame them for that. Will return.... ...next week. And prolly the week after. read more

Don't believe the hype. It's just that, hype! The crawfish were small and mushy (maybe 3 large crawfish out of 2lbs), which had a bad taste like molt. The seasoning was toooo salty. I had to drink a entire bottle of water (without coming up for air) to get rid of the taste. Another thing I was not please with, was the fact I was charged an additional $2 to get the cajun and garlic seasonings mixed. At other crawfish places you can choose which flavors you would like to mix or hell get all flavors mixed AT NO ADDITIONAL COST! I will say the only thing I liked was the beignet fries. The two stars are for the beignet fries. read more

Best fried shrimp I have ever tasted!!! Usually it's bland at other places but it was very good and the waffle seasoned fries are also very tasty. We Got the 4 lbs of the garlic and Cajun crawfish which was good it definitely met my expectations when I came wanting to try some of the best crawfish in houston. The potato was over cooked but other than that I had a great experience here and I will definitely be back when I'm in the mood for crawfish and fried shrimp. read more

Okay this use to be my go to place and now sadly it's not. The last few times I ate here it was a huge failure. It was bland, barely any garlic seasoning, dry, and there was a lot of bad(dead) crawfish in the mix. I thought it was maybe just me that felt this way but all of my friends have said the same thing. Sorry la crawfish until I hear ur back on par I won't be back. read more

As always LA crawfish delivers. I have been here only multiple occasions and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. Of course, the food is what stands out. LA crawfish is so damn good. Don't let the ranch market parking debauchery scare you off because once you get inside you'll forget about what you just experienced outside. My boyfriend and I tried the garlic butter and cajun both extra spicy. When you order extra spicy they tell you "no refunds if it is too spicy". Honestly, it's delicious but not that spicy. We, surprisingly prefer the cajun flavor over the garlic. PACKED with flavor. The seating area is not the most ample but there is extra seating outside the restaurant in the food court area. Table cloth, a paper towel roll and bibs are provided to you after you order. They have soft drinks and water available to purchase there but if you want to purchase beer, you must make use of the fact that you are inside an asian market that sells beer, hence the BYOB. But who wants jacked up beer prices when you can buy a six pack for not much more? Sign me up. The seasoned fries are really good and you should remember to get sides of their garlic butter dipping sauce for $.54 each. I've also noticed that they have pho and more importantly a pho challenge! LA crawfish is one of the best if not THE best in the city. read more

This place was disgusting! I was so disappointed in the crawfish. They tasted old and a lot of them were dead. Never going back here again.

Place is not all that great. Food is way overpriced and the crawfish are dirty.. they still have dirt on them. The only thing I like about this is you can bring your own beer to drink that's basically it. read more

This place haven't been in business for very long so there aren't many reviews but all the reviews were 4 stars or higher so I decided to get some togo after doing my grocery shopping at Ranch 99. Currently, the price is $5.99/lb which is cheaper than Boiling Crab at $6.99/lb. 4 level of spiciness. I got level 3 and it was just perfect. My tolerant for spiciness is pretty high up there and I almost couldn't take Level 3 so I can't imagine what 4 is like but I would like to try it one day. The garlic flavor was great and it soaked well into the meat. Some places do not give their crawfish enough time to absorb the spices so only the shell has the flavor but the meat would be bland. That is not the case here. I got 2 lbs of crawfish and a corn and literally inhaled the entire thing. You do not have to pay for seasoning or mayo here like you do at other places which is a big PLUS. The staff here is very friendly and polite. I HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

I liked this place last crawfish season, but I went yesterday and paid $6.99/lb for Frozen crawfish!! How disappointing! And they didn't even tell us it wasn't live/fresh! I felt jipped, and the crawfish was SO yucky. You could just taste how unfresh it was. read more

LA Crawfish - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Houston, Texas

$5.99/lb of crawfish + BYOB = a great meal! Not only are the crawfish tasty, and flavorful you also don't have to shell out $$$ for an ice cold beer. The spice level is a bit inconsistent. If you go earlier during the day, spicy equates to medium and later in the evening, spicy equates to inferno in your mouth. The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars is charging for corn and potatoes where other crawfish joints throw in for free. Perception of free food = extremely happy/returning customers. read more

Been going to this location exclusively for years. Crawfish is great. Love the Cajun spice. But the boiled shrimp was old and not fresh like previous years. Must be from slower pandemic traffic. Very disappointed. Won't be ordering shrimp next time read more

The spicy boiled crawfish does not play around. Seriously. Also, the crawfish empanadas are really good.

This place used to be really good. However, the past couple of times I've gone, I've been very disappointed to find out the crawfish is FROZEN. the crawfish was either soggy or chewy with a nasty taste like it was soaked in rotten fish juice. I have no idea where LA crawfish get their crawfish from, but this is crawfish season. There shouldn't be any excuses as to why any crawfish restaurant should be serving frozen crawfish. It still shocks me to pass by it and still see lines of people waiting to order. If you want real, "Vietnamese styled" flavor crawfish I would suggest driving to Chinatown and getting your money's worth. read more
