What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate. The guy at the repair shop was super nice and attentive to my observations. The end result was excellent - all the issues were fixed (proxy and computer speed) and my PC is as it should be - fast and efficient and it has been 3 months of excellent performance. I came in without an appointment and John got right to work on helping me diagnose my problem. He tried a few tools to get a sense of what the problem could be, talked me through the various levels of repair that we could go down, and sent me home with an initial fix that hopefully solves it without me having to buy a whole new rig. All around great service and appreciate him taking the extra time to get me an answer then and there vs just having me drop it off and then having to wait for a response. He will not let it beat him! This is the person you want in your corner on going beyond the problem when necessary. I asked him if it was able and even worth it, to install the latest Windows on my 11" Samsung XE700T series, tablet/laptop/Slate that had W8 on it? The computer is over 13 years old. And he was able to do it! I strictly use it to install Radio Frequencies on my HAM Radios. He saved me money where I didn't have to buy a new Windows laptop. He will honestly tell you if your computer is a good one or bad one! Meaning.. he will NOT try and sell you on something that's not worth it on your computer. This place will take your old computers you don't need anymore and they will wipe them clean and refurbish them and give to needy schools/organization/non privilege, etc.... so it can help others.. I've already donated 2 computers to them. To sum it up....... If you want your computer repaired right and locally, this is the place. To me, their prices are very reasonable! My system would buffer like 1995. I decided to get an after-market router instead of continuing with the Spectrum router. I couldn't figure out how to get it to work so I found Gus on Yelp and saw that he had the most reviews and most of them were good. I called and spoke to Gus. He asked me to explain to him exactly what was going on with my internet. After that, he told me what his price was to come out and troubleshoot. I told him I would think about it. The next day when I texted him my hire decision he told me he had been thinking about my problem and said he thought he came up with a resolution. He told me to call Spectrum and have them replace my modem. He also sent me a link of two items to order on Amazon and said he believed that once these were installed that would solve the problem. I followed his advice and then set an appointment for him to come...he is very busy so getting a time we could both agree on was a little difficult...but was finally resolved. Let me say he was here for an hour and 40 minutes and his remedy solved my problem 100 %...My internet is so fast now. I have 5 bars all the time and have only lost service once for a minute since he was here a week ago...he was extremely professional and knowledgeable....what he told me to do was exactly correct. He installed my Nighthawk router and an Amazon Firestick I had purchased and also the two items that actually make my internet work now. I also had no sound when watching Netflix and even their techs could not resolve that issue, now everything works perfectly...it was worth the $235.00 I paid. The contractor had no clue how to fix this and we were left without reliable internet. After reaching out to many services, Mendel was first to respond. He perfectly understood the issue and offered to come immediately, early AM on a weekend no less, and at a VERY reasonable hourly rate. When he showed up, it was clear why he named his service "Friendly" as he's the nicest person I have met. He immediately identified the issues, involved me in the process, and managed within an hour (not all day as I had worried) fix everything. You can see it in my photo below.
