I've delayed writing this review for a few months just to make sure the fix that was provided to my laptop really worked. It did it was such a great improvement! What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate. The guy at the repair shop was super nice and attentive to my observations. The end result was excellent - all the issues were fixed (proxy and computer speed) and my PC is as it should be - fast and efficient and it has been 3 months of excellent performance. This is a great computer repair shop. It is conveniently located next to a Ralph's and one of the best breakfast burrito spots in the city. This shop is open every day but Sunday, the staff is ultra competent, they offer more services and at a better price than what you would get at a best buy and over paid for a similar service. Also I'm kind of a repeat customer, so I know they don't overcharge, and you are going to get your computer fixed well before you have to meet whatever deadline you have to meet or if you just don't want to wait a week to have someone replace a missing button om your computer. read more

We desperately needed to upgrade our kids gaming computer and found John and Allstates Computers here on Yelp. We needed to upgrade to a bigger SSD card on our Dell desktop/tower, so I called first to see if I could make an appointment. John was very friendly, no appointment necessary, just come over and drop it off. The building is actually really easy to find. Just north of LAX and the In-N-out on Sepulveda Blvd. Parking lot in the back on the CVS side with direct access to the building. My desktop PC died suddenly and unexplainably a few days ago. I've built several PCs before, so I attempted to troubleshoot the issue on my own; I tried swapping monitors, cables, hardware, you name it. I rummaged through message board after message board, hardware manual after hardware manual. Ultimately, I was unsuccessful and at a complete loss of what to do. In a panic, I found John at Allstates Computers. He told me to bring in my PC tower and he'd take a look. I swung by a few minutes later and he started troubleshooting right away! I think all-in-all, we spent about 45+ minutes troubleshooting and trying new things until we were able to successfully diagnose the problem. In the process, he taught me a few things and it was extremely evident from our interaction that he had advanced knowledge of computers and how to fix them. All the while, he was friendly, polite, and patient. Since I did not need any additional parts, nor did I need to leave the computer there overnight for additional work, I was expecting to only pay for the diagnostic labor... THIS WONDERFUL MAN WOULD NOT ACCEPT MY MONEY!! I tried to pay him and he refused. I tried to buy his lunch and he refused. He genuinely just wanted to help me, a complete stranger. He could tell how much effort I had put into trying to fix my machine before reaching out for his assistance and he could tell how flustered and panicked I was at the possibility of losing all my data (or having to buy a brand new computer). I was having a terrible day that day and John showed me just how kind and helpful people can be to one another. Not only was he exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable, but his heart is just as big and his customer service skills are A+. John and Allstates Computers have earned my business for the rest of my life. If I ever encounter any computer issues in the future, I will go to him and him alone. I have already recommended his services to several people and will continue to do so for as long as his shop is open. I cannot give a higher recommendation - easily 10/10. I requested service to fix an issue with my PC. It was not able to install drivers, programs, or updates. My PC would keep crashing, making solving the issue myself more frustrating. After days of troubleshooting the issue myself, I caved in and went to Yelp to seek professional help. Within minutes of posting my service request, John was one of the first techs to reach out. After reading the reviews for his business, I decided to give him a shot. John is quick to respond to inquiries and was able to fix my PC within a three days of dropping it off after requesting service. Granted, it was on a late Friday afternoon when I dropped of my PC. By Monday afternoon, I got a text stating that my PC was ready. After going to the shop to pick up my PC, John went over the causes of the issue and provided tips on what to do if the issue were to happen again. For $125, he diagnosed the issue (I believe the diagnosis is free), reset my BIOS, reinstalled the operating system and the necessary drivers, and even provided me with some software to monitor my PC. I know doing all that takes time, and with my specific issue, took a lot of troubleshootong. For the price he charged, I would say I got a pretty good deal. My laptop was unresponsive. Occasionally it would turn on and just when I needed to do something, it would go into hibernation. I called Allstates and he was extremely responsive. Asked me to bring the laptop in and he would try to help. I turned up 20 minutes later. He looked at my laptop and immediately knew what the problem was. Explained to me how to get around it. I volunteered to pay. He was very gracious about it and said there is never any charge for diagnostics. Next time I have a problem I will definitely go to Allstates. I was having trouble charging my Apple MacBook Air and decided to get it checked out after work. Allstates Computers popped up on the the top of my Yelp search with quite a few great ratings. The location is very close to home. There is ample parking in the lot adjacent to Sepulveda Blvd. John greeted me and asked what was happening with my computer. He tested the power cable and ports. It would charge for a short period than stop. He tried another cable and still wouldn't charge. I had to leave the computer there overnight so he could run diagnostics. Before I left he even helped me with my iPhone battery issue. I just picked up my computer and it charges. John cleaned the ports and connectors. My desktop PC was showing no signal to either one of my monitors, no matter how many times I tried updating, restarting, unplugging, and plugging it back in.  I looked around online for someone who could diagnose the issue and found Allstate Computers. I read all the wonderful reviews about the owner, John, and gave him a call, to which he said to bring it in when I have the time. John immediately hooked it up, and in about a minute or so, had run many diagnostic scans. I was given a full diagnosis and a lot of answers about my PC's problems. This included a BIOS firmware that hadn't been updated since 2018! John helped me update and install it the following day. My PC has been running smoother than ever since taking it to John. Both diagnostic appointments were free of charge. I will be bringing my computer to Allstate Computers from here on out and would highly recommend others do the same if you want quality customer service, expertise, and convenience. read more

I sent in a request about building a custom PC. I didn't buy it pre-built so I had all the components, but was having troubling with assembling it myself. John responded to my inquiry super fast, gave me a quote, and the next day I was able to drop off all my parts! He was responsive and communicative throughout the whole build, and it only took a couple days for it to be finished. All States Computers did an AMAZING job, so much better than what I could've done. When I walked into the shop to pick up the PC, I was amazed and sooo excited because it looked so good!!! Everything ran perfectly, the PC was cooled efficiently (currently running at ~44C on average), and I've been able to run everything I want to at home. I knew that this was a challenging request, and I am so so happy with the results and the work that was done here. I broke my computer trying to flash-update my bios (stuck in a bootloop+blackscreen). After spending a whole night of troubleshooting I was wholly convinced it'd be easier to just buy a whole new motherboard and rebuild my PC - but figured it wouldn't hurt for the free diagnostic here. John ended up completely restoring my PC + informed me I had some cable issues. He rearranged all of the ones that I had wired incorrectly before and if you look at the picture, managed to turn on lights I didn't even know existed. This was all for free & done within 15 minutes.
