I had work done here on a laptop previously, which went great, so when my daughter's laptop started acting up reporting "Hard drive not found" when attempting to boot, this was the first place I went. John helped me, indicated there was something very wrong, and helped me lookup my Dell tag number, and I found it was still under warranty. I was not charged for this diagnosis, which I was surprised at and very grateful for! He told me to contact Dell support, which I did. Dell support was very helpful, but they just sent me a new hard drive, and said I had to install it myself. The way these Dell laptops are, you need a special screwdriver to open the case, which I did not have, even though I have small screwdrivers and am reasonably tech savvy. I called up Allstates, and spoke with John, and he quoted me a price of $99 to replace the drive (the new drive had Windows on it, so I just needed the physical replacement). I decided to save myself the frustration of shopping for the proper size screwdriver and dealing with very small screws (my eyesight is not as good as it used to be) and I took the laptop in to Allstates. I am so glad I did!! John helped me immediately, opened up the laptop, and replaced the drive with the new Dell drive. I would have been satisfied with that, but John was very thorough. He double checked all of the internal screws to ensure they were tight, and cleaned the CPU cooling fan. Then he verified that the computer would boot. He was very thorough and patient, and although it took a few minutes for the new drive to be configured (installing drivers, etc.) we just let it do its thing. It took less than 15 minutes total, most of that time was waiting for Windows to be configured. While we waited, we had some idle chit-chat, John was very friendly and easy to talk to. We finally got to the Windows keyboard selection screen, I told him that's fine, I can handle the rest, so we shut the computer down. Last step was to reattach the bottom, he got everything snapped into place properly, double checked that all screws were tight, and even cleaned the screen! I was delighted! After all that, John didn't even charge me for the service! I was so happy, a job well done! I was ready to leave the laptop for a day or two, but to have the laptop repaired in under 15 minutes, and no charge as well, I was beside myself. Allstates customer service is first rate. It's rare to find such customer service, skill, and friendliness in a small business these days. I wish I could give 10 stars! Thank you John! read more

I don't think five stars make justice. I brought my pc, since it had apparently an OS configuration issue, "No Boot device found" error message. John was digging into it and found out that the hard drive needed to be replaced. Well, John saved all my docs, pics and everything I previously had. He also gave me the old part and my computer was running like a new by the next day. The fee for services and part is way too reasonable and I also got 6 months warranty. This is now my "to go" place for my tech needs. I appreciate the honesty, professionalism, quality of service and value. I feel happy I didn't have to purchase a new computer!!! Although I didn't purchase services from this company, I have to express my gratitude towards John and the integrity of his company. I originally brought in my Macbook Air laptop to fix a broken screen backlight. John gave me honest feedback and informed me that they could repair it for me by doing a hardware replacement, but I was better off going to a shop that could do repairs on the individual components of the motherboard. Instead of trying to sell me on his service, he gave me a fantastic referral to an out-of-state repair shop that ended up saving me hundreds of dollars. Apple and another local repair shop quoted me over $400 to replace the motherboard. However, I went with John's advice and used his referral which ended up costing me only around $150. I was working on my computer, my 10 year old laptop to be precise, and it said I had a low battery. I checked the charger and it was connected. A short while later, it shut off and never restarted. Needless to say, 10 years of personal data, pictures, files and memories were in jeopardy. I jumped on Google and Allstates was the first and highest rated. It was after their business hours so I sent them my phone number through Yelp. At 8:55 the next morning, 5 minutes before they open, I received a call from John. I was already on my way there and he said it was a great time to come in. He quickly explained my options and let me know I would hear from him today. At 2:30, he called to let me know he was able to recover my files but the laptop was a goner. He also accepted the Yelp discount (be sure that you check in) and I was on my way. John was absolutely amazing! Someone from my community recommended him on FB. I went to him and he hooked my laptop up and checked everything and came to the conclusion that it was my screen display and quoted me $350, but told me to continue to my appointment that Apple had set me up with at a certified Apple guy. I went and he was going to check my laptop the next day. I told him what I was told was wrong with it and he literally opened it two inches and said, "Yup, I know exactly what's wrong. It is the screen display." He did absolutely nothing but hold it on his hand as he was about to put it away and then opened it two inches after I told him what John told me, and the guy still charged me $19. (John didn't charge and he actually did a lot!) Then he proceeds to tell me that the part plus labor was going to cost me a little over $700! No thanks. As soon as I walked out, I called John and told him to order the part. Since it was Friday, the part would come in about 2 days and he said he'd work on it Monday morning. He sure did! My laptop was ready Monday morning! Everything fix and looks and works great so far. Even has a 6 month warranty. I ended up only paying $342! I started by requesting a quote for my MacBook start up issue through Yelp for another nearby business. The great thing about using Yelp's quote request feature is that you have to option to have Yelp send your quote request to other nearby businesses so that you can get the most competitive price/quality for your project. I am so glad John from Allstates responded to my quote request, because this business wasn't even within my radar. John responded by offering a free diagnostic for my MacBook problem with no appointment necessary. The day I decided to drop by, I also brought in an iPad Pro with a restore error issue. When I arrived, I was really impressed with the orderliness of the store. This is definitely something I like seeing when entrusting someone with precision work. Employees are wearing masks. Social distancing reminder markers are on the floor. John seemed very knowledgeable and kind as I was discussing my devices' issues. I had arrived in the morning, and he promised a turnaround that day or the following day. He finished investigating the issues that same day. While he was unable to fix either of my devices, I was assured of the thoroughness of his investigation when he explained all that he had done. He even consulted his friend who actually works for Apple. John did all of this work for free. I was also able to bring in all my random electronics recycling.
