Do not skip. La Chingona is legit unique dishes. Amazing flavors!! Ordered the Quisada and couldn't be happier!
Always love a women owned restaurant! There was a long queue but the wait was still reasonable. You ordered your food and paid then they will assign you the available table. Love the workers there. Very hard working people Tres Leche French Toast - 3/5 Three slices of Macrina Cinnamon Brioche, topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberry puree, fresh sliced strawberries and blueberries. Drizzled with condensed milk, whipped cream and powdered sugar. Served with a side of 3 leches. I really didn't like the strawberry puree that much, I'd suggest you to have it on the side instead. And this is really a normal french toast and the it's not soaked in leche. The leche is on the side. Steak a la Mexicana - 4/5 Grilled skirt steak with potatoes sautéed in ranchera salsa, side of rice and beans garnished with avocado and queso panela, and corn tortillas. The portion size was a bit smaller than i anticipated but the taste was amazing! The mimosas was such a great deal and tasty! Especially the guava flavors! Street parking was rough on the weekend so do come early. They do have a parking lot but it's extremely small.
La Chingona is THE spot for fish tacos. The fish portions are huge and the breading is crispy and perfectly holds the fish together. The texture is light, but the flavor is so tasty - everything you want a fish taco to be! I'm stuffed after 2 fish tacos. On the other hand, the tacos and burritos are just okay. I don't like that they include chunks of potatoes in both. The potatoes just overwhelm the flavor of anything else, and make the the tacos/burritos too heavy and filling. Their parking lot is on a huge hill with angled one way in parking. We have never tried parking in the lot, because street parking is way easier and there always seems to be street parking available. Service is always friendly and the decor is fun. The volume tends to be on the louder side with their music and being generally busy. They have plenty of options for both indoor, outdoor, and bar seating.
What a spot! This restaurant has been on my list for the longest time and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint at all! Highly recommend: - Mexican coffee - wet breakfast burrito The service was amazing. We were a pretty big group and they were so kind and helpful because we didn't had a reservation. So welcoming. Will definitely come back!
great place, fun decor, lots of menu options for meat eaters, pescatarians and vegetarians. as a vegetarian, i especially appreciated being told that the rice has chicken stock. we had a table of four, ordered different kinds of margaritas, chips and salsas and main dishes. quantity per order was reasonable for the price. the food was good but it didn't WOW me; i cook a lot of latin american foods and have lived in south america and traveled extensively throughout the spanish speaking world (including different parts of mexico) so i'm particularly picky. this is not to say the food was bad...it wasn't! the service was good and the people working obviously care a lot about the customer experience and the overall quality of the food. this is a solid choice for mexican food in west seattle.
Came here for the first time and love the decor, so much color! I got the special which was one taco with beans and rice- the rice was a little dry. The beans were very good though. The taco was very filling but I don't think it was worth what I paid. I will say the mango aqua was delicious!! We did get dessert and was very good!! Churro ice cream!! The service was ok. They were all very nice. Just wish that there was salsas, salt and seasonings were all at the table and not have to ask for them since it's an order first and then sit.
I went to my friend BD brunch last Sunday. I got tamale. We shared Mexican corn on the cobs and pandulce (sweet bread). The pork tamale was good and moist. The salsa added spicy flavor. I really enjoyed corn on the cobs. The sweet bread was okay, little dry for me. My friends like their foods. Everything tastes good. The burrito was big. The service was good. The inside restaurant was full of painting and art works. They even have art for sales in the bathroom. There is small parking lot and street parking.
Pro-tip: Arrive when they open, otherwise you may have a wait. Such a fun spot! Traveling from Texas, Mexican cuisine was far from the mind when looking for a spot to eat in Seattle. We were swayed by our Airbnb host who claimed La Chingona is "out of this world". He was right! The experience, and food, did not disappoint! Cafe en Olla to start, or if you order horchata instead it comes in a large mason jar, followed by a freshly squeezed juice. I tried the orange and carrot! So good. While dishes are expensive (we spent $75 for two adults), they are filling dishes. The steak and eggs had everything you needed (I could've done without the added cost of mole, but I wanted to try it), and the burrito was enjoyed with the different sauces. I will certainly want to try their baked goods during our next visit.
I always say California [Bay Area] has the best Mexican food, so it's hard to compare -- but this place hits the mark in every way. Seattle, your shrimp is amazing! Everything here is made fresh, and every bite was incredible. I highly recommend the shrimp and fish tacos, and the Michelada was hands-down the best I've ever had. We stayed in Seattle for four days and came here three times -- we even had to come back for brunch! This place is an absolute MUST. As for the service, it couldn't have been better -- everyone was welcoming, had great recommendations, and made us feel like part of yet another unforgettable experience with incredible food.
You for sure get what you pay for. At first I thought it was a little on the spendy side but the portions are large. I was very happy with the food and the service. The food was super delicious and my favorite part was the chips. They had the perfect amount of crispiness and not oily. The tacos were huge and extremely delicious. They also provide hot sauces which were mild and hot. They both had the perfect amount of heat to it. Also the decor in the place makes it feel that much more special. So glad we made a stop in and tried this newer place in west Seattle. For sure will be going back.
First time here for brunch and it did not disappoint. We came on a Sunday around 12pm. Street parking. The lot parking is tight. There's outdoor and indoor seating. I think it'll be really nice to sit outside once the weather is warmer. We ordered and picked our seat. I loved the ambiance. Festive, colorful, bright, and the staff was great and attentive to go with all of this. I got the pozole. Best I've ever eaten. So good. So filling. My partner got the French toast breakfast and it was so good. The French toast was amazing. Coffee was also good.
The flavors of the food here are amazing! The interior is so nice, inviting, and fun. Hubby and I got here at about 5pm on a Saturday and we got a seat in the bar right away. But I will say by 5:30 we noticed people standing outside and waiting for seats. So there's that. Parking. Parking is tight. They do have a parking lot, but if you're not used to Seattle hills and tight ass parking, then the parking lot might be intimidating. Getting in is easy. But think "getting out". I suck at driving so my husband got in and out with no issues...but yeah. If you're weird about parking like me...you might want to scope it out first via google maps or something. Cool cool, back to food. The drinks here are SO good! We got the Spicy Cucumber and the Mezcal Watermelita. Both were good, but wow the mezcal watermelon one was AWESOME. I typically think Mezcal tastes like burnt rubber...but this drink was done SO well! Very good. But make sure you like Mezcal before ordering. Because yes, there's still that burnt rubber taste to it. For food-I got 4 tacos. My tacos were BOMBBBB. Hands down. So good. Hubby got the Carne Asada. And like any protein hungry male ordering Carne Asada would probably say...I need more meat. So the Care Asada was good...just always wish there were/was more protein to it. But that's all places, not just here. We finished with the churros and ice cream and these were the best churros I've ever had. Even compared to the churros you get off the streets of Cozumel. I also got a big horchata. Oh man. This is the first horchata I've ever had (I've had Rumchata-yum) and this was GREAT! Very happy I was able to try authentic horchata. 10/10 we would come back AND this is a place I would take my in-lawns (who retired in Cozumel) here. We had such a great time!
We've been many times since my first review almost a year ago, and this place has stolen my heart. The food is good whether it's the brunch or dinner, so morning, noon, or night. This place is also a fiesta. The ambiance is enchanting, and they add additional decoration for times like Valentine's or other holidays. Dia De Los Muertos is such a party, that we went in the morning for brunch and and the evening for dinner. You might encounter singers at brunch or Mariachi or event Aztecan dancers were there with a performance outside. The staff is very nice, but it's more than that. They are dedicated to the experience and making it right and making it nice. This place is alive with corazon and alma.

This family deserves five stars over and over again! Of course giving them five stars means that everybody's going to come see them and we will have to wait in line to get our food in the future. The atmosphere is super family, friendly, and filled with tradition! And the food was absolutely on point, thank you so much! read more

Solid spot in West Seattle! Friendly service, easy to order, two types of salsa one hot one mild, limes, and lots of seating. Torta que me vez (asada, pastor, cheese): best thing we had tonight. Lots of meat, good crunch of the bread, perfectly cooked onions, guac. A tasty and filling meal! I'd highly recommend this and I will probably request added pineapple next time Pastor burrito: overall solid burrito, although the meat was not equally spread throughout the burrito so the end had lots of meat and the beginning was a lot of rice and beans. Add both salsas and some lime and BAM, delish Horchata: they have pretty good horchata here, not too sweet and not grainy like at some places read more
The best last minute food decision ever. We were road trippin' around to find all of the Danish trolls and stumbled along this Taqueria. The staff were welcoming, friendly and had great recommendations. We ordered 3 different style tacos and a quesadilla with chicken. I later went back for the mango fresa and the lovely waitress talked me into the cucumber lime juice. She was spot on, it was amazing and refreshing. The flavors were great on every item. As was recommended, the mahi mahi fish taco was the best item and had the most flavor. My husband preferred the chipotle aioli and I preferred the green hot sauce. The restaurant is vibrant and a lot like what you would find in Mexico. It was clean and airy. We thought we hit an off time at 1:30 but it quickly became busy by 2:00. We are eager to check out their Bellevue location as well. read more

Great small business in a great spot off the bridge. Margaritas are awesome....if you ask for a hot one it's super hot!! By far this place has the best fish tacos I've ever had. Every time I come I end up getting them again. Once I broke and got a quesadilla. It was not what I expected at all and it was fabulous!! I ate so fast I forgot to take a photo. So here's a pic of the drink. read more
Finally some good Mexican food in Seattle!!! We walked into this place and were instantly greeted by Sandra (one of the co-owners). She made excellent recommendations! We were able to deduce that she was from SoCal like us based on her accent so we knew that she knew what was up! A good start! The salsas: green is tasty, the red has some heat but damn it's so good! I got fish tacos and I gotta say these are the best fish tacos I've had in Seattle! Huge piece of perfectly fried fish with a delicious Baja style sauce. Also got a pastor burrito and LOVED the fresh pineapple in the burrito. Place is decorated beautifully, great art from local artists. We loved it so much we're going back tomorrow! I want to try everything on this menu! read more

In the pictures- Potato Pinche Taquitos Nopal tacos (my fav!! loved the cactus flavor) Relleno tacos Papa tacos Vegetarian tacos Churros and ice cream Tres Leches I tried the happy hour menu and the prices are so affordable for the quality and quality of the food. There are different options in tacos including so many vegetarian options. The desserts are so good and drinks are freshly made in house (my fav was mango aqua fresca) The decor right now is valentines themed and feels like coco the movie! They have an outdoor, an indoor and bar seating area. The moment I walked in, I was mesmerized by the ambience and warmth of the people- it's a women owned family restaurant!! read more

We came to celebrate my friend's wedding and the workers went above and beyond to make our party of 15 feel welcomed and at home. Leslye was our server and she was so attentive and friendly. She made sure she got all our orders correct and she was also checking on us often. We felt at home and the food is so authentic! It reminded us all of being in Mexico, especially el Mercado de la Merced. The decor inside is so beautiful! I ordered chilaquiles verdes con pollo with an over easy egg. So good! Not spicy at all (although I wouldn't mind if it was) The cafe de olla is delicious! As well as the mango mimosa, and it was strong too. Thank you for a wonderful first time experience! We definitely felt well taken care of at the end of our meal. We'll be back again. read more

Best Mexican food I've had since moving to Washington. Great ambiance and the food is even better (idk if I mentioned that). I ordered a shrimp burrito and it was the burrito I was looking for my whole life. I also had to get the flan because why not. Yazmin was really nice along with the owners. Women owned, Spanish as a first language environment. I will definitely come back. read more

This place is a 10! West Seattle is lucky to have you. We drive almost 30 miles to come try this place out. I originally saw this restaurant on Instagram. A little while ago a friend that lives near by recommended it. We finally had a Sunday afternoon to drive here and eat. When we arrived there was already many groups waiting to be seated. They have an outdoor area that's covered and has a fire pit. The wait was no more than 15 minutes. As you wait you review their amazing menu. It was very hard to choose. Once your name gets called you go inside and place your order. All the staff was great and friendly. If you've read any of my other reviews to places I've given a 5 star review it's always been their friendly customer service. I love when I can easily chat with spline and walk away feeling like I've just made a friend. They have many tables to sit in inside and outdoors. I ordered a mango agua fresca that was divine! Not super sweet and not watered down. When food arrived we were shocked to see the size of the tacos. They are huge! This is not regular taco. Worth every penny. My posole was probably the best posole I have ever had. The flavor is unforgettable. I never order posole at restaurants because they never add the right amount of veggies or meat. Let me tell you this bowl has so much meat. Everything about my bowl was perfect. Our experience here was the amazing. We will be coming back and telling all our friends about this spot. One of the staff even mentioned how they have events with live music. I look forward to coming back here. If I lived closer we would be here every weekend. Take my money!! Like I said before...worth every penny. Don't miss out. Give this place a try. read more

It is my latest favorite brunch place. They have a parking lot. It is always easy to find street parking too. It is a quint and welcoming place. Staffs are friendly. The foods are AWESOME. The foods are served fresh and tasted great. I love that I can order single items, like I can order one taco or two taco with a side of rice and beans. The street tacos are bigger than the average street tacos. And I have to say the flavor is also bigger! Wow! I had one fish taco and one shrimp taco. Both delicious and I would get both again! The fish was big, hot and crispy. The shrimp was cooked just right. The grilled onions and mushrooms added to the flavor. Served hot, from pan to plate! Also had a side of beans and rice and both delicious! So many good looking things on the menu I want to try. I'll be back! Highly recommend La Chingona! read more

Came for breakfast and it was amazing. Got the green chilaquilles and they were soooo good. You can tell everything is made fresh. It came with a tiny bolillo which was the cutest thing ever. The atmosphere at La Chingona is bright, fun & colorful, and comfortable. The employees are friendly and quick, and the owner is so kind - her passion for her food is so apparent and it really shines through in the outstanding quality. The portions are very generous, my usual order is 2 different tacos and they are always overflowing - both with flavor and literally! The tacos are big, too (I usually fill up with just 2) and the food comes out fast regardless, so ordering more is a breeze. An important litmus test for me at any restaurant is how well they handle simple dishes. Rice & beans is something that SO many Mexican restaurants in Seattle and beyond fall short on. Not La Chingona. Their rice & beans are perfectly cooked and taste so... hearty. It's like the food equivalent of coming home at the end of a long, rainy & cold day and you're finally settling onto your couch with a soft blanket. I would be genuinely happy to have only those rice & beans for dinner every. single. day. TACOS. There is a reason I almost always get them. So far I have tried: Chingon (beef steak, shrimp, & cheese), carnitas, azteca (grilled cactus & cheese), lengua (beef tongue), and camaronero (grilled shrimp). The chingon taco might be my favorite but azteca is a close second - they're fantastic. The lengua is thick cut, you can see it's truly all beef tongue, and it's so tender. I truly have nothing bad to say about any taco I've had and I would happily order all of them again if the mood struck. I still have more to try, too!! The salads have a ton of textures and flavors and are oh so satisfying, especially if you're seeking somewhat lighter fare. The enchiladas are delicious, wonderful acidity with the salsa verde that goes amazing with the cheese. The guacamole is creamy & so rich, the chips are thick so they don't break or crumble and they're crisp & crunchy. The horchata is the perfect complement to.. honestly their entire menu? I am hopelessly addicted to it. Churros with ice cream are perfection - another beautifully balanced dish, I wish I could order it every time I go. I genuinely can't recommend La Chingona highly enough. It should be at the top of your list to try if you haven't yet! read more

First time here and it was delicious! From checking in, getting our table and ordering our food was a smooth process. It was a packed night, but the the staff was very informative with wait times and how long it would take to get our food, but we didn't have to wait long at all. Sondra was so sweet when I told her it was our first time, she gave recommendations and everything she recommended was delicious. We got taco chingon, wet burrito, mole enchiladas, agua de mango and mango margarita. Again it was all delicious! This place had awesome decor also. Can't wait to go back! read more

What an outstanding establishment. Every time I come in here the staff goes above and beyond to cater to my party. The food is so delicious. It's easy to do Mexican Gourmet food incorrectly. This restaurant does a tremendous job at capturing the gastronomy of Mexico City. The tacos al pastor, the pozole, the tamales. You cannot go wrong. The aguas frescas are tremendous. I would say this is perhaps not the place to visit if you're working with 40 bucks and are feeding two. I often spend 55-70 here, but it is absolutely worth every penny. You can probably eat for 20 bucks a person but that's probably not how you're going to fully enjoy your experience considering all their options.. the music is always exceptional and the decor of the place is great too. They are hosting a phenomenal Dia De Los muertos event and I'll be here every weekend for it. Gracias mi gente por abrir un lugar tan excepcional read more

Solid fast casual Mexican restaurant! I visited solo on a Sunday just after noon and the restaurant was about 40% full. You walk up to the counter, order your food, and get a number to take to your seat (if you're dining in). My food came out in like 5 minutes which was perfect because this was a quick fuel up stop before heading to another appointment nearby. The Big Boss Chilaquiles were piping hot, tasty, and a pretty good portion size. Don't forget to grab your own plasticware, etc. before sitting down-- I'd walked right past this stuff and was a bit confused before I realized. I was in and out in like 30-40 minutes which was exactly what I needed, though I could imagine lingering longer under different circumstances. Good food in a fast, clean, vibrant environment-- would definitely visit again! read more
