This is by far my favorite Dominican Place, Amazing Food Always on point with the customer service. I Would Definitely Recommend This Place To Friends And Family. read more

I visited with establishment for the first time yesterday. My order wasn't taken correctly, but I pride myself on being a patient person. I didn't get my complete order until more than an hour later. From the photos and the reviews I was hoping the food would be worth the wait. No chance, I ordered take out and the first thing I tasted was the tostones. No taste whatsoever, I ordered two Acapurrios and they were over loaded with salt. I ordered a beef steak and rice meal, and a chicken and rice meal. The only thing I liked was the yellow rice and red beans. The rest wasn't worth the money. Which leaves me still searching for a good restaurant that serves Latin food other than Mexican food. read more

This is the best place to get Mofongo. The DC area doesnt have good Mofongo overall. This is it. I have tried many places and its surely the best. The staff is nice and I recomend coming here read more

Yummy! They were able to accommodate my vegetarian mofongo. Very attentive and nice waiter. My wife enjoyed the fresh limonada. She loved it because it was perfectly made and wasn't too sweet. I enjoyed the fresh tamrindo. Good portions and had food to take home. Visit this place for something different. You won't be disappointed! read more

Ordered a serious sampling for takeout and was not disappointed. I'm from the tri-state area and consider myself a mofongo connoisseur, so I did not take this order lightly. The mofongo was a generous portion and was delicious when topped with the habichuelas rojas. As sides, we ordered maduros, boiled yuca, and avocado. All items were fresh and savory, including the pollo frito. I'd definitely recommend La Casa Del Mofongo :) read more

Portions are big and everything looks real good. It was my first time trying mofongo and it was quite tasty. I ordered the bistec con abichuela, my boyfriend had the mofongo de chicharon and we ordered a side of tostones. Regarding the food, the only thing I could say it that the steak was real big and I would have preferred if it were charred a bit. The actual restaurant had a bar/night club feel so that was a tad confusing but over all the staff were great to us. Parking (plaza parking) is scarce but luckily there was a spot open for us right out front. read more

Puerto Rican mother tested, Puerto Rican mother approved. If you want traditional food, this is the place to go. The server was top notch and spoke only Spanish, so you know it's legit. No white hipsters with sleeve tattoos trying to fake it at this place. They have a new cook so don't rely on any of the old posts. read more

I will resume this place with one word: trifongo. I love their trifongo, it is so good. Is a mix of yuca, sweet plantain and green fried plantain. I have visited this place many times and never disappoint. As a puertorican individual yes their mofongo can be better but that's beside the point. Their staff is friendly. Sometimes their staff can get distracted and take longer than usual to assist but at least they compensate with a great smile and happiness. read more

My husband ended up with food poisoning! The food looks good on the TVs they have scrolling through the menu options but it's very much lacking. I got carne asada that was very much over cooked. My plantains were burned. My son ordered fried chicken and it was not what anyone at the table expected. The drinks come in cans. And they charge you per can. No soda fountain. And it took over an hour for us to get food. The had several empty tables so it's not like it was a full house. The waiter was more worried about whatever at the bar. The remaining staff was preoccupied with a birthday party. I was very disappointed. I will not be returning. read more

The food left much to be desired. We ordered sancocho and it was salty. The meat in the stew looked and tasted old. Completely inedible.

I've searched far and wide throughout the DMV for some quality mofongo. Look no further! This place satisfies all of your cravings, and they have a killer happy hour! My favorites are the Mofongo with either the masitas de cuerdo (fried pork chunks) or bistec encebollado (flank steak pan fried and smothered in onions) read more

So I order mofongo with shrimp and garlic sauce and house salad. My total came to $20.12. I ran across the street to go to the CVS because I was ordering takeout. I came back about 15 minutes later and my food was ready. I grabbed it and gave the bartender a tip. Got home about 20 minutes later and realized there was no salad in the bag so I can't review that. the mofongo was dry with dry pieces of meat. The sauce was good but desperately needed salt and pepper. The shrimp were big and delicious. It's also a good portion. I still feel like it needs a salad to pull it together plus some other kind of creamier sauce. Like a salad dressing. I wouldn't order the mofongo again, it's just not delicious enough for the price tag. Parking there is also horrible. I guess I am comparing the mofongo to the great mofongo I had in Puerto Rico two weeks ago. It was the best I've ever had. read more

Very good. Mangú was my Friday breakfast. I liked the lunch as well. Value was very good.

Really enjoyed this place. Ice cold beer and delicious fried appetizers (get the family platter), and great mofongo. Flavors were awesome and the service was pretty good. My wife had the sancocho and I had the mofongo with carne guisada. The sauce was amazing. If in the neighborhood I would definitely come back. read more

If La Casa Del Mofongo's customer service were an animal, it'd be a turtle. If La Casa Del Mofongo's customer service were a road, it'd be I-95S during rush hour. If La Casa Del Mofongo's customer service were a government entity, it'd be congress attempting to pass any law ever. What I'm trying to say is, La Casa Del Mofonfo's customer service was the slowest. service. this. side. of. Silver. Spring. All I wanted to do was to taste of the sweet nectar that is authentic Dominican food and when we happened upon the bright orange colored building in the sketchy shopping mall, it was as if the food gods had smiled upon us once again and a bright light shown down upon that gaudy orange as if to say "Come my children, Dine. Be Fed. Mufongo." Unfortunately, the heavenly magic pretty much stopped there. We walked in greeted by a giant, jovial dude who sat us up front. Among the 20... I'm not even exaggerating... or so tv's, we spied out the waitresses busily.... well, busily doing anything but waitressing. 10 minutes pass. Nothing... 15 minutes. I'm only comforted by the sounds of my stomach softly grumbling in contrast to the spanish soaps playing all around. 20 minute... yeah, I set the timer. 10 minutes longer and if no one farts in our general direction, we're out. Low-and-be-hold, a Casa Del Mofongo's customer service struck once again... not even a "gracias" thrown in our direction for thirty-pain-stakingly-hungry-minutes. I would have told them that they had terrible customer service and tableside manor, but they never came to the table ... not once. Literally, stood up, looked over my shoulder, and threw my hands up as if to say "Caribbean restaurants must be a great industry to be in if you can just let money walk out that door, brotha." I think I have anal glaucoma about this place, because I don't see my ass coming back here... ever. And if the internet service provider is as slow as La Casa Del Mofongo's customer service, I doubt they'll ever see this review, but got-dangit people, PLEASE get your service straight!!! read more

Me and my husband were just driving by and saw this place, we immediately made a u turn and decided to give it a try, we both love mofongo and we've had a hard time finding restaurants that sold mofongo. I tried the mofongo con pechuga a la plancha and my husband had mofongo con pollo guisado. Both were very delicious!! Si eres de puerto rico, te va a encantar este lugar, vas a sentir que estas en los kioskos de luquillo! Te va a salir un poco mas caro que en la isla, pero vale la pena pagar cuando tengas un bajon de comida criolla. read more

I've been trying to find a good Latin restaurant in Maryland for a few years now. This is NOT it. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, so I know what a fancy AND a chinchorro mofongo looks and tastes. The mofongos offered at this place fall short of everything. The caldo (broth) is tasteless. The mofongo was close to being tasteless. It had chicharron (pork rinds), but it also had pork meat in the middle, which was hard, almost old meat. NOT what I expected. The white rice was bland and the red beans lacked flavor. Las chuletas (fired pork chops) was hard, over dry, over cooked, greasy and tasteless. I could not stick a fork in them. In addition, the shrimp where not de-veined. The alcapurrias were greasy and the meat inside was bland. I did not bother with desert. If the main dishes where that horrible, I wasn't going to waste money on their overpriced flan ($4) and tres leches ($5). Deserts where on display, so I could see that the portion was not proportional to the high price. Everything on the menu was overpriced. I understand that some of the ingredients for these dishes are hard to find in MD, but the portion sizes where to small for the price. Parking was ridiculous. A small strip in the front of the restaurant, that was difficult to get into and exit. People don't know how to park, so most of the spaces where wasted. The parking lot next to the building doesn't have enough spaces for the demand of the area. We went on a Saturday, so parking was free, but during the week, all the spaces have a parking meter. To complete my experience, I had indigestion right before the bill came, so the "food" I ate, went right down their own toilet. I was very disappointed in this place. This was my first, and last visit. read more

Food was inedible. The mofongo was greasy and had a very disturbing aftertaste. Being born and raised in the Caribbean eating all types of mofongo imaginable, I can say this is the WORST MOFONGO I have ever had the disgrace of trying. I was ill for the rest of the night. The music was extremely loud to the point I could not speak to other people on the table. There were only two tables occupied in the place ( I would not call this a restaurant) and service was unnatentive and rude. Unless you feel like wasting your money and making a late night run for antiacid medication do not come here. read more

Let me do this in English to reach a broader audience. I am a Brazilian-American with a lot of experience in the DR (soy aplatanado). The food is wonderful, totally legitimate home cooking dominicano. We've had mofongo, sancocho, and the lunch menu with costillas. Great. The servers are really nice, very attentive and professional. I believe they all speak English, so don't hesitate if you are not a Spanish speaker. The exterior is really not attractive, but inside it is clean, spacious, and just very nice. It's a great deal for a lunch, very inexpensive and really tasty. Highly recommend! read more

We still daydream about our trip to Puerto Rico -- La Isla del Encanto -- so we were psyched to see La Casa del Mofongo open in our neighborhood. On our first visit, we ordered Pollo Guisado, Tostones, and Tamarindo to go. The servers were super friendly and the service was quick. The chicken was DELICIOUS....so soft and juicy it fell off the bone. The tostones were nicely fried - but we could have used some hot sauce. The tamarind drink was tart, but way too sweet. I hope they ease up on the sugar from now on. On our second visit, I ordered the Mofongo de Camarones, my husband ordered the Chicharron with rice and beans, and we ordered Tostones to share. The mofongo was great -- rich, dense, salty and garlicky, perfectly balanced by a light tomato sauce and a lettuce garnish. The shrimps were a bit overcooked, but still tasty. Unfortunately, the pork was uneven - some of it was tasty and tender, some of it overcooked and dry. My husband made it through part of his mountain of rice, and we had fun dipping our tostones in the beans. The decor is elegant yet comfortable. The bright orange and red walls are a nice complement to the dark wood of the tables, chairs and bar. Great place for a family event, a night out with friends, or a date. And their alcohol license has been approved! Plus it looks like they've got a sound system for a serious salsa party. read more

I really wanted to like this place... But was disappointed. I ordered the pork mofongo and although the pork was very good, the plantain itself lacked taste. With mofongo if you get a good side sauce you are golden. The sauce should be a little thick in consistency. This was not the case here. The sauce was more like water and it was lacking in taste. I had also ordered the bistec encebollado and that was also lacking in taste. The steak came out in a sauce that looked and tasted like it had been thickened in cornstarch. Gross. I gave this place 2 stars because the chinola juice and the morir soñando were actually pretty good. Maybe I'm just used to Caridad restaurants up in NYC. My quest for an amazing Dominican restaurant in the DMV area continues. read more

3.5 stars A Mofongo place in the DMV - woohoo! If you're looking for good mofongo definitely try this place. But do yourself a favor and get a copy of the menu at the place itself. What they have posted online is only a fraction of their entire offerings. I got the chicarron mofongo to go. It was delicious! You get plenty of fried pork belly goodness with tan perfect amount of crispy skin and fatty, salty satisfaction. You even get some of the porkiness mixed into the mofongo itself. Unfortunately whole tasty the mofongo was on the dry side. It could be a difference between to go vs dine in so I wouldn't discount that with my assessment. I didn't care for the coconut dessert they had. This macaroon like dessert was too sweet for me. If the rest of their offerings are as good as what I had, I'll definitely return to eat my way through this menu. read more

Being P.Rican, I was SO excited to see the sign that said "Casa Del Mofongo"!!!!! I've been waiting for a place like this to open in MD. I decided to stop by today and try out the Mofongo de Pollo. Boy, was I disappointed :-( The shredded chicken mixed with the monfongo over powered it, I couldn't taste the flavor of the mofongo!!! It was a bit dry (too) and the fried chicken pieces that came on the side was pure fat, hardly any meat. I put the red sauce on top to see if will change the taste, nope. I wish this place luck, but they need to change the name to "Comida Del Caribe", because people are going to assume that the mofongo is top notch; but isn't. It's not worth the $13 bucks I paid for w/out a drink. I will be planning a trip to New York to find a place that truly knows how to make Mofongo de Puerto Rico/Caribe. read more

The food was ok but the staff was very friendly. I took my order of red snapper rice and black beans to go. They let me choose from 3 sauces. I was going to do tomato but the waitress suggested I get the coconut. It was good. The fish was tiny for 16.99. I prob wouldn't go back I feel it was expensive for what it was. read more

Food was good but the service was HORRID. We came during lunch time and it wasnt that packed so we just sat down and waited for a while until someone acknowledged us. We asked for a mofongo as an appetizer but it came out with all our food not as an appetizer. I asked for ketchup and it took her literally 10 min to realize she forgot to get it for me. The service is really bad here. If you don't mind waiting this is a good place to come eat. read more

I visited with a friend who's from Puerto Rico, ostensibly looking for good Puerto Rican fare. Although it was pretty late (past 10 pm), we were welcomed warmly and seated promptly. The service here is great! Our waiter was very nice and outgoing. He even showed us photos of his recent trip to Puerto Rico! The menu is extensive. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered a pastel de pollo and an order of tostones. My friend ordered arroz con gandules and the chicharrones de pollo. Something to note - although the restaurant is Puerto Rican-owned, much of food is prepared Dominican-style due to the kitchen staff. And yes, there is a difference. They were happy to make some tweaks to my friend's liking. We both enjoyed the food, which was served in pretty large portions, and the check came to about $25 for the two of us. We'll likely return! read more

Lovely people, tasty and homey food. Even the rice and beans are flavored well- not an afterthought, and good comforting Mofongo itself.

This is by far our favorite restaurant to go to when we get a craving for some Dominican / Puerto Rican food. We completely recommend this place to anyone in the DC metro area. The food service and prices are great and they even have live entertainment on some weekend nights! read more

I heard so much about this place, I couldn't wait to find time to get there... I don't live near. Today I had the opportunity to stop on my way back from Virginia and I'm so glad I did. The mofongo de pollo was delicious! The mofongo was seasoned well and the chicken was tasty and perfectly crispy! While waiting someone else ordered the red snapper, it smelled amazing. It's on my list to try. I wish I ordered more. I'll definitely be back! read more

Had mofongo for the first time and not bad. I had the shrimp mofongo covered in garlic sauce. For appetizer had the family platter which was good with their ketchup mayo garlic dipping sauce. Also tried their malt beer which was wayyy better than the Goya version. Ended with flan which was also good! read more

The food here is absolutely amazing! My favorite I getting the family size appetizer to share, which really serves as a meal for two. Oh and the passion fruit juice is to die for. The best thing about this restaurant is their Mayo-chup. It's a mix between mayo and ketchup with a little zing to it. The only thing stopping me from giving this restaurant 5 stars is the location. Parking on the weekends is a nightmare! Wish they would have chosen a better locale but, it's not a deal breaker. Overall I highly recommend this place! read more

A bit disappointed after a few recommendations. Parking can be a headache but once you are inside, it is hard to decipher the combination of disco ball, high tv's, semi full bar, and hardwood dance floor. Staff is not as knowledgeable and definitely not struggle if you order in English though they do compensate in how friendly and open they are. Food has decent flavor but that is about it. Texture and consistency is off.. tough meat, hard and dry mofongo, a bit burnt and hard tostones, etc.. For drinks, unless you order a beer, stick with water! read more
