    Garlic Chicken Mofongo with Chicharron

Food: Fresh and phenomenal. Home-cooked with the owners right in the kitchen. It is a family-owned establishment and they either greet you, serve you or cook for you or any combination thereof. A welcomed feeling! You literally feel like you're walking into their home FILLED with love and Puerto Rican pride!! We had Garlic Chicken Mofongo with and without Chicharron. Vibrant flavors through and through. Came with a side salad to interrupt the richness. The Empanadas (Chicken and Gauva were our choices) were large, flaky, fresh and filled with deliciousness! Crust is VERY light, they use that GOOD lard! Now...the drinks are nothing to be played with! The Mojitos (Passionfruit) and Pitorro (Pineapple, Tamarind y Coconut Chai) will have you curled up sucking your thumb! They have a stage ready to bring in the best Musicians specializing in sounds from Salsa, Merengue, Jibaro, Bomba and all styles in between! The stage is set in front of a large Puerto Rican flag, which gives a FANTASTIC experience that made us feel like we were at our favorite Boriqua's casa en la Isla! Viva la Puerto Rico!

Overall a great experience. Comfortability and side pricing are two areas that could be improved. First, the bad: The seating is hit or miss. If you're a bigger guy, opt for the metal barstools (with backs) in the main dining room. We picked the tables by the front window, and the super light plastic chairs were considerably wobbly. Outside seating looked alright, though it was too hot to dine out there this time. There's kind of a value mismatch in some of their menu items. We got the platter for two, which ran us about $45. I didn't mind the price for that, as it gave us a great sampling of their menu. The side of Beas and rice, however, were $8 apiece. That's our mistake for not checking first, but between that our two Coronas (plus tip) the bill reached over $90 for the two of us. I think there's some room for price adjustments on the sides! Now the good, which I promise outweighs the bad: The food was great. Everything came out hot and looking great. One of the staff came by and recommended which sauces to use for which dishes, which was nice! Honestly everything we ate tastes great. The mofongo was the surprise hit - absolutely delicious. The staff was so nice and helpful - every person we interacted with was eager to help us understand the menu, very attentive to our needs, and just generally very pleasant. A truly fantastic place to get Puerto Rican food in St Mary's.

Delicious authentic Puerto Rican food at El Coqui LLC in Point Lookout Callaway Md. if you haven't tried this place you don't know what you are missing, here is a delicious Pork chop plate filled with of flavors from the island of Borinquen! My favorite local mom and pop restaurant, with cocktails and yummy beers. Cheers!

Temporary set up at Callaway awaiting the permanent brick&mortar setting to be completed (late June).

Stay local, eat local! Check out their great menu and choose an interesting meal...why not!? Food is great and enjoy the vibe! Who will make the 5th star? You

We've had things from their food truck in the past and the restaurant did not disappoint. We got a sampler platter and everything was delicious and the mojitos were fresh and well-made. It did take a little while to get our food and drinks, but that's totally understandable since they just opened and they were already busy for the lunch crowd. Only thing I'd try to improve on is getting some sound panels as the back room got pretty loud.

OMG!! My sons begging to go to Puerto Rico now. Came here to get a taste and got the itis. We tried the mofungo with garlic shrimp and it was so delicious. The empanadas with the dipping saice were soo tasty. The plantains just right and the Pina Colada was on point. We drove from Waldorf for this and they did not disappoint. We will be back, already planning our next meal!!!

We spend a month every year in Puerto Rico. There food reminds us of the best we have had in PR. Mofongo options are especially good.

My friend and I ordered two Abuelo's Favorite Plate and the rice and peas were proportioned, the shredded pork succulent and the ripe plantain sweet and delicious. We topped our order off with two guava and sweet cream pastelillos - pastry nice and flaky and the filling just the right sweetness to end this delicious meal on! Thank you Que Rico for a meal reminiscent of my childhood Sunday dinners!

Pretty good food if you have a craving for Puerto Rican food…read more The Pastelillos were delish. I ordered a ground beef and a chicken with cheese. They were crispy, good amount of filling and nice flavor overall. Fantastic. I think they should serve the meal with a bit more rice. The Pernil, pulled pork was sort of dry and unfortunately the large side of garilc mojo sauce (garlic oil) was sideways in the bag and by time I got it home, the oil had all leaked out into the paper bag and onto the floor mat inside my car. The mofongo bites listed as 5 bites, however I only received 4. They were on the sweet side. The masa from the plantain taste too ripe for my liking. I prefer more green plantains in my mofongo. The tostones were pretty good. The pictures made them look a bit larger, but oh well. This was my first time ordering from a ghost kitchen, and the concept is a brilliant idea because you can order from so many cuisines! You can try so many restaurants in one place. Quite amazing.

So after seeing all the posts flooding my Facebook about Puerto Rico Cafe, in Manassas, VA., we…read moredecided to make the one-hour drive to Manassas, yesterday, to see what all the hype was about. If you're even thinking about indulging in amazing Puerto Rican food, you need to make the drive to Puerto Rico Cafe in Manassas, VA. I'm serious, it's absolutely worth it. My Scottish fiancé and I (I'm Panamanian) literally drove from Frederick, MD, to Manassas, VA, just to eat there, and I would 100% do it again without hesitation. From the very first bite, I felt like I was back in Puerto Rico during my short but unforgettable year living there. The smells, the flavors, the warmth it hit me right in the soul. The carne frita...Perfect. Crispy edges, juicy pork, seasoned exactly how it should be flavorful and comforting in that "this tastes like home" kind of way. You can't fake that kind of flavor. It reminded me of my mom's cooking and even the food from my beautiful Panama. The pollo en crema de ajo was incredible. The sauce was creamy and full of real garlic flavor, but not overpowering, just perfectly balanced. My husband, who grew up eating completely different British/Scottish food, would not stop talking about it. That says a lot. The pollo en salsa criolla was just as delicious tender chicken with peppers and onions in that classic criollo sauce that tastes like it's been simmering all afternoon. The arroz blanco and arroz con guandules were cooked to perfection not mushy or sticky, but fluffy just like well-cooked rice should be. The yucca wasn't oily; they were crispy, nicely golden brown, and the tostones (patacones in my country) were crispy and lightly salted. And the desserts... listen. The quesitos con guayaba were flaky and buttery, filled with perfectly sweet guava. The pastelillos de guayaba were crispy on the outside, sweet and slightly tangy on the inside. We should have ordered more, I'm not even joking. Now we also ordered parcha and guava homemade juices to go. Nothing completes a meal without a sweet pucker of juice. This wasn't just lunch or dinner. It was an experience. If you're craving authentic Puerto Rican food made with love, this is it. We didn't just find a café we found a little piece of the island right here in Virginia. Thank you for the amazing experience, from a Panamanian and Scotsman. We will definitely be returning.

It was our first time here and we couldn't decide what we wanted. After drooling over the plates that went by, we asked the owner to help us narrow down our options. We landed on the Chicharron Sampler for an appetizer. For our main courses, we had the Bandeja Paisa and the Paella Caribena. We were also eyeing the Dominican-style beef stew and the Sancocho Soup. We asked for a sample of the Sancocho soup and that's when we found out they make everything to order - including the soup! His wife went into the kitchen and whipped up a sample of the soup ... we didn't mind the wait for the sample as we knew she was working her magic! It did not disappoint. We ordered a large soup to go! It'll be cold later this week and this will be perfect in the rainy weather. This place reminds me of home - the way my mother cooks ... the flavors are developed and everything was cooked to perfection. I did a little dance in my chair with each bite! The portions were large - we'll have left overs for the next several days! And I CANNOT wait! We're looking forward to coming back and trying something new!
