Mofongo con Camarones al Ajillo
Jennifer J.

Some of the best Dominican food I've ever had outside of someone's kitchen is from here, Curzi's. Their tres golpes (or cuatro golpes) here is clutch. Their mangu is super smooth and buttery, my mouth is watering thinking about it. I also love their mofongo with shrimp (garlic sauce) so much that when you eat it, you have to stop and let someone know how garlicky and delicious it is. I've been to both their restaurant and ordered via DoorDash or UberEats. Their restaurant itself truthfully is small and a bit of a hole in the wall, but do not let that deter you from ordering. I do make the suggestion that when you order from the apps, if there isn't much of a description, make sure you specify if you can what you exactly want or changes. Definitely will continue to be a repeat customer!

Mangú with fried eggs, cheese and salami
Luis S.

Had a platano craving the other day, more specifically for some tres golpes (mangú, fried salami, fried cheese, two fried eggs). Curzi's Seafood absolutely came through with some buttery mangú and plentiful portions overall. My only feedback is that I would've definitely appreciated some onions along with it, which is usually included on this dish, but no biggie (I made some at home and added them on top ). When I stopped by to pick up the meal, I was met with great customer service, and a preview of some of their other food items on the hot bar. I'm excited to be adding another good Dominican food spot to the rotation and to try more of their food!

King fish

Stopped In here because I saw it said seafood so I wanted to try it. The food was soooooooo good. Got chicken with white rice and king fish with beans and rice. I wanted to seafood soup but it would've taken an hour she said otherwise everything else was soooooo freaking good. I'll be back again again and again. Super satisfied and good customer service.

I Feel Blessed & Grateful That I Came Across It. This Is Authentic Dominican Food Made By True Dominicans, And You Can Taste The Love In Every Bite. It Really Brings A Piece Of The Island Right Here To Maryland Just Minutes From DC . Parking Is Limited, But There Are A Few Spaces Directly In Front Of The Restaurant. The Space Is Small & Intimate, But Very Welcoming. It's Only Been About A Year Since They Opened, But It Feels Like A Place That's Been Around Much Longer Because Of The Love And Energy Inside. The Customer Service Here Is Top Tier!! It's Owned By A Husband & Wife "The Medinas" They Are Truly Special. So Warm, So Kind, & So Genuine. They Make You Feel Like You're Being Welcomed Into Their Home For A Meal. The Service Is Full Of Love & Care, You Can Feel Their Passion In Everything They Do. That Alone Would Bring Me Back... And Then The Food Just Seals The Deal Even More. WHITE RICE , RED BEANS , AVOCADO & GRILLED SALMON {Build Your Own Meal} EVERYTHING About This Plate Was Perfect!!!!! The Rice Was Cooked Just Right With The Perfect Amount Of Salt. The Red Beans Were Rich, Flavorful, & Surprisingly Had No Meat, Which I Loved. *So Many Places Add Pork, But Here They Automatically Cater To Different Dietary Preferences Without Sacrificing Flavor.* The Grilled Salmon Was Cooked Exactly How I Requested, Honestly Even Better Than I Expected. The Attention To Detail Was Impressive. And Of Course, The Avocado Brought Everything Together For That Perfect Final Touch, I Left So Full & Satisfied. EXTRA SIDES: TOSTONES WITH GARLIC Double-Fried, Flattened Plantains Lightly Salted And Topped With Garlic Oil (I Requested This And They Delivered). So Good & Perfect With The Rice & Beans. FRIED PLANTAINS Made Exactly How I Like Them, Sweet, Perfectly Fried, & Not Overly Sweet. CHEESE EMPANADA OMG The Cheese Pull Was Insane. Crispy Outside, Loaded With Cheese Inside, They Did Not Skimp At All, So Delicious. MALTA I Had To Get A Malta, A Traditional Dominican Drink That Paired Perfectly With My Meal. Sweet, Rich, & So Satisfying. I Had To Try As Much I Could To See What I Would Like & Everything Was Amazing. I Was Overwhelmed Yet Beyond Satisfied. Literally Everything They Make Is Delicious. Super Reasonable Prices With Plenty Of Options. Some Food Is Ready Buffet-Style While Other Items Are Made To Order. You Can Dine In Or Take Out But I Highly Recommend Sitting Down & Enjoying The Full Experience If There's Available Seats. This Place Is Something Special. Authentic Dominican Flavors, Amazing Hospitality, & Food Made With Real Love. I'm Definitely Going To Be A Regular Here As Much As I Can. I Truly Hope They Get The Recognition They Deserve Because This Place Is Truly A GEM .

I do appreciate I can build my plate to my preference. Pictured was the combination pork (braised & pulled) over rice and beans topped with gravy. Be mindful if you do not eat or desire a lot of rice to let the staff know; otherwise, you'll get a healthy serving of rice with your meal. To date I've eaten nearly every option they serve which are simply delicious. This restaurant is good to visit for all hours throughout the day and evening. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor patio spacing to accommodate groups and their customers. The music varies but I've heard my share of bachata played over the speakers. The owners and staff are committed to serving their customers. I do believe this is a family owned and operated establishment. For the first timers visiting you may order similar from behind the counter similar to chipotle or order made to order menu options such as the coconut cream fried red snapper over rice. They also have tasty empanadas. Overall 4.4 out of 5

When I looked up dominican restaraunts it came up and I was very surprised and happy to see it. Now the reviews on yelp are not great and I questioned if I should go. I am glad I did. In my opinion, I don't know what happened before, but the day I went my foodie spirit was happy I came. I had the chicharron de Pollo with yuca frita and Maduro. My friend had the bistec, we shared the pastellitos, fried cheese and Carne frita. Everything was amazing and how I remembered. The carne frita was a last minute add on and flavorful. The bistec had fantastic seasoning. Now the atmosphere is that of a club. So inside it is pretty dark, but you can see your plates. I can't wait to go back!

The meal arrived two hours later and missing the entire entree of Mofongo. The beef was skirt steak from the Lomo Saltado recycled to "complete" this order and arrived dry and over cooked/seasoned. EMPANADAS on the menu is plural for more than one but only one was delivered. The only "right" thing that arrived was the maduros...with an aftertaste of fish. That means that they fried these plantains with recycled oil they fry fish with. I am Latino and know how this menu should taste and ALL OF IT is not Dominican food.

The Sancocho is amazing. Its a hearty meat stew that in my family we call it the hang over soup or the feel better soup. Growing up if I had the flu or a cold my mama would whip this up. Their soup was good... but I wish it had tripe and more meat in the stew and a bit more seasonings. Would i order it again? Probably not. Mofongo. Something that I absolutely love.. It didn't taste fresh.. the chiacharrones ( fried pork cracklings) was not crispy :( The saving grace was their chicken guisado.. a very hearty chicken stew ... that was a chef kiss. Unfortunately, due to bad past experiences with mofongo from other places, I decided to skip the mofongo and go for a guisada (stew). Generally speaking the beef stew, which was served with beans and rice was decent. However, for my tastes, the stew seemed to be really greasy/fatty. I do not think that I ever had a guisado with so many fat droplets in the "soup". Also, I thought the beef was a bit tough/chewy for a stew; I was expecting the meat to be a bit more tender. While the stew was not horrible, I will say that I was a bit disappointed that I spent $20 on it. Since this is a Domincan restaurant, a little Spanish might go a long way. Overall, I thought the staff was nice. However, this appears to be a place where the staff knows a lot of the customers (or at least the Latino customers), so you might feel a bit like a persona non grata upon entry. However, they'll probably will warm up to you after a few minutes. While I somewhat enjoyed my stew, I really enjoyed my margaritas more. Since I'm still new to the area, I might check out some other Latin/Dominican restaurants before circling back around this restaurant.
