I'm honestly very disappointed. We ordered delivery from what used to be one of our favorite local restaurants. Three years ago, we dined here and had an amazing experience, which is why we were excited to order again. Unfortunately, this meal was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. I ordered the pork ribs and fried shrimp. The ribs were extremely dry--so dry that they tasted like they had been cooked days earlier and reheated multiple times. They were nothing like the ribs I remembered from previous visits. After just a few bites, I started feeling uncomfortable. The fried shrimp was equally disappointing. It had almost no flavor at all and tasted bland and uninspired. My husband ordered the burger, which was advertised as a blend of Wagyu and regular beef. We were expecting something special, but the patty lacked flavor and the quality was disappointing. What surprised us even more was that we live only five minutes away, yet the burger bun arrived completely soggy. The packaging was also poor. The food came in cheap plastic containers without any ventilation holes. For fried foods especially, proper packaging is important to prevent steam from ruining the texture. It felt like very little care was put into preparing the order for delivery. To make matters worse, both my husband and I experienced stomach discomfort and excessive gas afterward, and we were still feeling it the next day. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that this was my husband's birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant because of the wonderful memories we had here years ago, but the food quality was nowhere near what we remembered. I genuinely cannot understand how food of this quality was considered acceptable to send out to customers. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes a closer look at its food quality and delivery standards.
Been here a few times and I keep coming back for the Bodega burger and the stout beer they offer. Aside from the burger, everything else on the menu is pretty pricey especially the steak options. Service has always been great here and it can get very busy on the weekends so I would definitely recommend to make a reservation ahead of time.
All the food and beer selections were great. Would love to come again. The location is small but has a great ambience with nice decor. We let the staff know it was our first visit and they gave us great recommendations.
We came here for a BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION and he made reservations for 8 people at 7pm on Saturday. There's a SECRET password to actually get into the restaurant. We were taken to our seat which was a NICE private seating with its on TV screen. It has a nice wall which made it sound a bit quieter but, then the waiter came and said OOPS sorry we gave you the wrong seats and so we were taken to the SEATS near the restroom and it was so LOUD... 2 orders TOMAHAWK: 10/10 The food was EXCELLENT!!! OMG the CORN TORTILLAS was the best I've ever had!!! I would just be so happy to have the CORN TORTILLAS but, their meats are all really flavorful and tender too!!!... CAULIFLOWER: 10/10 The flavor and texture of the cauliflower was so good!!! BRUSSELS SPROUTS: 10/10 I loved the sauce so much and the Brussels sprouts were so adorably cute and small. It's usually bitter but, it doesn't taste as bitter here and the sauce was just AMAZING!!!! SERVICE: 8/10 Good but, could be better! We waited 30-40 minutes after finishing dinner for the cake to be served. And with no knife to cut the cake and utensils provided!!! Come here for the FOOD PEOPLE!!!! Let's ROCK ON LA BODEGA BREWING!!!!!!
Hands down the best drinks AND food in Whittier. We came in thinking it was gonna be a chill, casual lunch, ended up tumbling out there because the drinks were STRONG! Can wait to return for their happy hour.
Solid spot, great drinks and atmosphere, we sat at the bar. The burger was disappointing though. The cheese tasted really fake and the fries were alright.
This place is an absolute amazing hidden gem. I would strongly recommend making reservations as they are normally fully booked on the weekends. They have some of the best tasting dishes, unique drinks and great decor.

Such a fun and unexpected spot with a speak easy feel. We stopped by for bites and drinks and were pleasantly pleased with the vibe, drinks, food and friendly staff. You must make a reservation but are able to get seated as a walk-in if its not busy. We had a reservation and were seated within minutes. The front entrance display looks like a butcher shop which is actually functional and not just for display, in other words you can order a nice cut of beef to take home. Once you pass the freezer door entrance inside, you'll be seated in a small dining area with a full-size bar and a wall display of locked Steins which actually belong to club members (which on its own is a whole other can of surprisingly cool worms to delve into). Overall, we had a fun time and enjoyed everything we ordered so we'll def be back. Another plus, there's a free easily accessible parking structure across the street.
Absolutely LOVED the ambiance! Such a beautiful vibe & extremely chill. Not what I expected at all when we walked back, but soooo worth it. The food was delicious! The cocktails were okay, they looked great though. The Caesar salad chicken sandwich was SO GOOD! Chicharrones w guacamole was delicious! The wings, carne asada fries & chips/ salsa were delicious. Our waitress was extremely attentive & on top of our order. Always keeping an eye on us without hovering. Love that. Will definitely come back. Great spot in Whittier!
Came here for beer and food and was not disappointed. Did not have a reservation for a Tuesday night but after 20 mins we were able to sit down. The food is a bit pricey but high quality. Loved the steak fried rice, was enough for me even though it's listed as a side.
We came here for date night and thankfully we had reservations, because the wait time was 45 minutes long. It was my first time here, you walk into what looks like a meat market store front, you then wait and are let in through a freezer door, kind of like a speakeasy. We ordered their sizzling hot plate with beef, pork, and chicken, it comes with tortillas and a bit of grilled veggie and two pieces of cheese. We had beer and wine . They don't have mixed drinks, as they don't have a liquor license. Cool little date night spot.
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 First time here and it was definitely a good find. A speakeasy close to uptown Whittier that looks like a meat market from the outside. Recommend making a reservation for this place before you go. You walk through the "freezer door" to get into the inside of the speakeasy where it is spacious and has cute, dimly lit ambiance with a bar. Started with chips and salsa, not complimentary or bottomless, unfortunately. Chips were good and salsa was HOT, but delish. Then had the guava summer salad - light and refreshing with guava, figs and avocado on it. Ordered a guava seltzer - not great and barely has guava flavor and would not order again. Then for dinner we got the El Comal (chicken, tristar angus skirt steak and pork adobada that comes with salsa and homemade corn and flour tortillas). This dish can be shared and serves 2-3 ppl. This dish was AMAZING. Each meat was cooked perfectly - buttery, moist, flavorful, melt in your mouth pieces of meat. I was actually throroughly surprised at how good it was and was very full and still had leftovers. Will DEFINITELY be back.

What an experience! This bar & restaurant is like no other. Located behind the door of a meat market, it can be easy to miss! Once you pass through the large vaulted door you enter into a speakeasy lounge with beautiful decor and ambiance. Seating is available in a private room, open seating, and bar seating. Their margaritas were freshly made and their food was unbelievable. The quality of the meat was undeniably good, I can't say enough positive things about our experience here. Although it's not local for us, I would return in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique date night or night out with friends. Must try!! read more
The food, service, and vibes of this place are the best. You walk in to what looks like a store selling beer and some beef from cooler doors like a market/deli and then they open what looks like a big freeer door to a restaurant and bar. The service was amazing they are very attentive. The rib eye was delicious the sea bass was light and fresh. The mashed potatoes were garlicky and delicious.. the cilantro lime rice was kind of plain it kind of tasted like plain sticky rice I will definitely get the esquite next time and skip the rice.. we ordered the bread pudding it comes with ice cream on top omg!! Sooo good make sure you leave room for dessert. I have nothing but great things to say about this place it's small but such a cool place to go have a nice dinner.. read more

Came in for brunch with my 3 kids. We all loved it. The atmosphere is very cool, the girls loved that they had to walk through a fridge door into a "fancy" room. Loved their brunch options. Got the huevos divorciados. Not too spicy but just enough kick for most to enjoy and the portion was perfect. The eggs in the kids meal were so fluffy! Even reheated they were great since we had leftovers. And the cafe de olla was perfectly sweetened. Our server was amazing and so nice. We'll be back! read more

First time here! Cool entrance to the restaurant, looks like you're walking into a meat locker. Felt like we were dining in a member's only club We tried flights and appetizers the GUACAMOLE CON CHICHARRÓN Ripe Hass avocado, charred serrano, red onion, tomato, freshly squeezed lime juice, diced queso panela, topped with roasted pepitas, accompanied with pork chicharron. Really good. Along with EL REY SHRIMP El Rey beer battered shrimp tossed in chipotle aioli on a bed of Napa cabbage, garnished with fresh Chile Fresno. Side of ginger scallion salsa. Tasty but be careful with those Fresno chilies they are spicy. This was a late night snack everything was really tasty service was awesome! We will definitely be back for dinner. read more

Such a cute speakeasy! You would never have guessed that a hidden bar is located in the back of their front store (meat market). The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by their host and seated within a couple of mins. We ordered the Bodega Burger & Short Rib Chilaquiles. Both dishes were great. The atmosphere was really upbeat, customer service was excellent, and the decor is beautiful. I highly recommend! We will be back. read more

First time we went during the week it was good, we had el Comal some chips and beer. It was three of us and the portions of meat were ok (&70). We returned today, Saturday and it was busy we order chile rojo and a hamburger. .the sauce on the chile rojo was good however, the portions on my plate (3) were tiny. They got confused with his order, they brought us a chicken sandwich first instead of the hamburger. Then they brought me another hamburger, which I wanted to accept so I did not had to wait anymore but my husband said I should wait to eat what I wanted. By the time they brought the chile rojo My husband was almost finished. I was not found of the side of beans either, the seemed to be from a can. I really wanted to return my plate but I was hungry so I ate the tortillas to fill up( I normally don't eat tortillas. I am sorry but for &30 should be a decent piece of meat....if it was not for the tortillas I would have have to eat at home. The beer is ok, $12 for a tiny glass I don't think we will be coming back soon. read more

I love the ambience and aesthetic of La Bodega! This is my second time coming and I'm a big fan of the food and the service. Its a few more dollars per meal but i think its worth the quality and decor. I will most definitely be back again. read more

Came here with another couple before heading over to Greenleaf for a comedy show. I had made reservations and they took us right in. The place is designed very well and the service was fantastic. We ordered "el comal". It has a tray that slides out with tortillas and it comes with three kinds of meat: grilled skirt steak, pork adobada and marinated chicken. It says if feeds 2-3 people and I agree but those would be very decent size servings. We also added a "Ay Papa" which is a loaded potato and someone wanted a portion of refried beans. Quite a lot for the four of us but so good. Like the most interesting man in the world :), I don't always drink beer but hen I do, I typically like reds or ambers. La Bodega has a great [sorry need to emphasize GREAT] selection of beers. My buddy was trying to decide which beer he wanted when I ordered my flight and he changed to a flight immediately. He was very happy he did. You can look at the pictures below to see what I got. They have some great wines and the girls enjoyed their red. read more

This is a really great spot to try out if you are in the uptown Whittier area. There are many great spots in uptown and this is one of my top 5 favorite. The service is always so great and friendly. They brew all of their beers in house and also make their Seltzers in house. They are really cool about letting you sample before ordering. I've tried a few different things off the menu and while not the healthiest, it's a good option for a cheat day. What I really like about this spot is how small and intimate it feels. It almost feels like a VIP lounge lol. read more

Very cool spot for a lovely dinner! The concept is intriguing and the inside, although not too big, is quaint and neatly decorated. Service was very friendly and welcoming! Lots of smiles and good momentum while serving the plates. We arrived on a Tuesday, tried some beers and had dinner. Beer selection is plenty along with some signature margarita drinks. The sides, mac and cheese with chile verde, mashed potatoes (not so mashed), and frijoles were a bit disappointing. However, the Chile Colorado and New York steak were on point! Perfectly made and flavors just right. Made it worth it! Definitely give this place a try and don't get fooled by the entrance (like we did). Haha! read more

Rude waitress, initially sat me down at a table but I said I'd like to sit at the bar, so I ordered my drink but then I decided to sit back where she wanted to sit me. Rude waitress came back to tell me it's dine in only at that table( she never told me it's dine in when I walked in) and that table is part of her service for the night... so I couldn't sit there. I was just trying to finish my one drink. I went back to the bar and finished my drink and left. The brewery/ restaurant was practically empty. It's kind of disappointing to be mistreated when you're not even being rude. Hope everyone else has a better experience. Ps. Bartenders were super friendly! read more
La Bodega Brewery has a speakeasy vibe. It's brewery and restaurant hiding behind a gourmet meat market. We had such a fun night here! We came here to eat, drink, and watch the Dodger game not thinking we would be watching the final game with the Dodgers winning the World Series. We started out with appetizers. The guacamole con chicharron, chips and salsa, and wings. The salsa was spicy, the wings were very tasty, and the guacamole was delicious. Speaking of delicious the chile Colorado was phenomenal!!! Tender, juicy chunks of meat in a savory sauce with just a hint of spice. It came with a side of beans that made a great dip for the chips. I ate so much food I had to gat a doggie bag to go and the chile Colorado was even better the next day. I washed it all down with the El Rey, a Mexican style light beer. When the dodgers won, the bartender took out a cowbell and started ringing it with everyone cheering and taking pictures. Then she poured everyone a glass of cold champagne for a toast. We had a great night and a great dinner. Definitely a night to remember! read more

Let me start by saying that from the outside it doesn't look as grand but don't let that steer you away. Once you make your way through their "freezer" door it'll take you to magic...well the next best brewery in Whittier. I have to say service throughout dinner was great. You can see that they work as team because they didn't wait for one server to take our order. If we were ready anyone who approached us was willing to help. The food and drinks were another great highlight. We had the seltzer La Fresa. Their seltzer doesn't have a lot of carbonation unlike other seltzers. We also had the raspberry margarita which has to be my favorite. I loved that it has a hint of sweetness and bitterness; perfect combo of both. It's also great that all of their dishes can easily be shared which makes it easier to try more of their dishes. We had the guacamole with chicharron; nothing too special but it did have great taste. Now the star of the show was the Bodega fries! I would say you have to get these as an appetizer. I wish we would have gotten the comal because we got a glimpse of it on another table and it came with different meats to share and it came on a small comal. This can be a great for a girls night or impress a date. Don't miss out! read more

This was my first time at LA Bodega and it did not disappoint. I arrived just in time for dinner service to start. I ordered the Bodega Fries and the Chile Verde. The Bodega Fries were seasoned well, the meat was delicious, and the pickled jalapeño provided such a nice kick. The Chile Verde literally falls off the bone. It was tender and so flavorful. On their drink menu I had La Fresa and the Bodega Passionfruit Seltzer. They were both light and crisp, super refreshing. La Fresa is a bit sweeter, but both so good. I am excited to come back soon and try some more things off of their menu. read more
What a great find this place is! Recently, I had the pleasure of drinking and dining to celebrate my birthday with some dear friends. This restaurant is a reservations only type place. Servers are dressed in stylized "meat locker" aprons. The decor is very neat, clean, and reminiscent of art-deco vibes. The inside windows are "dressed" with refrigerated meats -- very enticing and indicative of their offerings. Once we were inside the actual restaurant, we were met with a very intimate setting. The building itself was small, so was the bar, and seating area. That said, the smallness really added to the intimate vibe - making me feel like this is a "date night" sort of spot. For appetizers we had the chips and guacamole and chicken wings. Everything was the perfect balance of savory and tasty!! My wagyu beef hot dog was perfect! It had a perfect snap when I bit into it, suggesting it was fresh and cooked well! I made fun of our friend who ordered a salad - but then was low-grade jelly because the salad looked AWESOME! We've been trying to eat here since they opened (hubby and I). Finally we're able to slip on in. Our waiter Adrian, was great, very nice and good recommendations. We ordered and array of items Comal - was good, but $70.00 seems excessive considering the portion - see photo. Brussel sprouts - were phenomenal! Handmade tortillas- perfect Beans - just as good as my mother n laws Chili verde Mac n cheese - loved the idea, but the consistency of the cheese was off putting (very watery). First time here with my wife. Cool concept, great service, amazing food. Really small inside but not cramped if that makes sense. Wife had the Chile Verde and I had their Bodega Burger.
