Met up with a friend and former colleague from work. Walked in and totally got immersed in the local hang out vibe. Welcoming not like hey who are you. Server quickly asked if I was having food or just drinks. Being Tuesday had to go with the tacos. Controlled the juke box via the app, enjoyed a couple of IPAs, and pretty good tacos. Came here for a drink with a buddy and was met with nothing but rude service from carol who refused to serve me and my friend because she didn't believe we were 21. I am 25 years old and have never had this problem anywhere else. She was extremely unprofessional and from what I had seen did not want to help the younger patrons who had been waiting to place their orders. Upon looking at the reviews I can see that this is a common problem. I hope Tubby's can take this seriously as I love to support local businesses. read more

We have lived around the area for a while now and wanted to visit bars nearby, and frankly we were disappointed with this one. The service was slow from the start, we waited around for quite a while before eventually having to walk up to the bar ourselves to place our order. There were two people working by the bar but no one took our orders despite standing there for a while. What made the experience worse was the way some of the interactions with other customers were handled. At one point, my dad started coughing because of the fried shrimp we ate and immediately apologized. Another customer gave him a dirty look and some of the remarks and interactions that followed came across as insensitive and felt racially charged. The bar feels quite cliquey, and are not welcoming to those who are not regulars, or POC. Overall, the combination of inattentive service and an uncomfortable atmosphere made this a place we won't be returning to or recommend. read more

My family and I are regulars here, which is why it's disappointing that I feel the need to leave this review. We've had Carol as our server before and unfortunately haven't had the best experiences, but this was by far the worst one for me personally. The beginning of our visit was fine she took our food and drink orders and everything seemed okay. However, after that, the service became extremely frustrating. It wasn't busy at all for a Monday, yet we ended up having to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks. I also asked multiple times for water and eventually had to have my brother go up and ask for it. What bothered me even more was that Carol had my brother return our cups to the bar and get water in those same cups. As someone who has worked in the food industry, I found that extremely unprofessional and, frankly, unsanitary. When the restaurant isn't busy, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a server to take care of something as basic as bringing water to the table. Then, when she dropped off the check, she said, "Have a good rest of your day," and then, completely unprompted, added, "You look tired." I genuinely don't understand the purpose of making a comment like that to a customer. Whether she meant it as a joke or not, it came across as rude and unnecessary. There are plenty of ways to interact with customers professionally without making unsolicited comments about their appearance. I'm not someone who normally leaves negative reviews, especially for a place my family and I regularly visit. We genuinely enjoy coming here, which is why it's frustrating that one particular server has repeatedly made our experiences uncomfortable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because I would hate for regular customers to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome because of the service they receive. read more

Just got IDed by the rude bartender where she proceeded to look at my ID three times and then told my friend who has never had any issues since turning 21 that his ID "dosent look like him" and proceeded to walk away without any acknowledgment and started flirting with the old dudes behind us very rude and unprofessional won't be returning. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch after recommendations from our neighbors. Our waitress Carol was rude and not attentive at all. She never greeted us and just took our order. We asked for ranch dressing and finally got it after asking her three times! She never checked on us or asked us if we needed anything else and just brought us the check. Her rude attitude made for a very unpleasant experience and we couldn't enjoy our food. Needless to say, we will not be returning and definitely will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is one of the oldest licensed bar in LA county. It's your typical neighborhood bar UN that it's got a sit down bar, booths and pool tables a some arcades and a juke box. The food here is very very good. They serve all your typical bar menu and also a nice steak. The cheeseburgers are pretty good. The do have TVs for sports and is usually packed on the weekends. Just came here between my Uber shift and chose the fish and chips with help of staff recommendations. It was amazing. I sat there. Sober. I ate. I played pool. And I even listened to a man's harrowing tale of being lost at sea (really I did). The fish was crisp, fresh, and meaty. Very satisfying bite. The fries were crispy, tender, and not over salted. Came with tartar, lemon, and malt vinegar. I asked for cocktail and it had a strong horseradish flavor. For years now every time I get fish and chips it disappoints. This brought an end to my longtime hankering for some GOOD fash and chaps, and I will return here when I want to order that. read more

Stopped in a couple weeks ago for happy hour, and boy was it a great spot to try! The bar was packed at 4pm on a Friday evening, and remained that way up until we left around 6:30! They're got darts, a juke box, and two pool tables. (Which accept dollars or quarters) I really appreciated that there was a wide range of age groups there. Saw people in their mid twenties, all the up to mid eighties! Quite nice actually. Not only were the drinks strong, esp. for the price. The food was absolutely wonderful, and service wasn't too shabby for as busy as they were! I opted for a grilled cheese with tomato, and fries. While my bestie got the fish & chips. I love my local bar! TUBBY's has done a phenomenal job during this Covid craziness. They have set up this beautiful patio so that we can still eat and drink and enjoy some normality in our lives. Sanitizer is available for everyone, seating follows the social distancing required now, and masks are worn by all employees. Mark has done a lot to keep this place going and I'm proud to continue to support this small business. I want it to still be around after all this passes! Great breakfasts! Taco Tuesdays! I used to shoot pool here years ago. Recently, People were telling me how good the food is. My wife and I decided to try for ourselves. The food was really good especially for the price. I got a Rib Eye steak, awesome onion rings, freshly steamed veggies , a green salad with the BEST cheese toast I have ever had all for $22. I probably won't ever come here in the evening for dinner because of the bar and I usually always have my kids so it's most likely I won't but as for breakfast and lunch YES!!!!! I walked in on a Friday afternoon to have lunch and see how this place was from the inside. Nothing to be impressed about... Bar to the left, pool tables in the center and tables to the right, the place is super dimly lit as expected. The lady at the bar greeted us and told us to sit wherever we'd like. There's televisions all around so any seat is pretty good if you want to watch a game or what not. She brought us the menu and took our drink order and told us about the dishes they have. The hubby and I decided to split a Prime Rib plate and just ordered an extra salad, I really enjoyed it and I'm not really much of a carnivore. They add a little horseradish (I think) on the side that gives it little kick in flavor. I will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu, as I've heard from "regulars" of Tubby's that I can't go wrong! As for the prices... so inexpensive! I also really enjoyed the environment, super laid back and as for our server Jackie... she is the best! She made us feel very welcome there, I know she was just doing her job but she never came across as being fake or forced. Dont go here whatever you do! Went to eat some breakfast Sunday morning, I have never been there for breakfast before... but the dirty blond kinda heavy lady was so rude from the moment we walked in. We made eye contact and not even a smile the whole time it was like she hated to be there, and it showed. Whatever you do when going in there, don't ask questions about the drinks or food. I lobe the local dive bar feel at Tubby's. It's everything I like, pool Tables, strong drinks, neighborhood people and food! Met a other couple here and sat in a booth(not my preference). Ordered many drinks and dinner for all. Our server (bartender?) took for ever to do anything. The entire night we waited for more drinks, dinner toppings and a smile. The smile never came. The drinks were great, food not so much. New York steak was over cooked a d thin like a breakfast steak. No prob, it was only like $12.99. Ambiance - was great and the place was popping, after we got our food. I like the place and will be back. No dinner in a corner booth though. What a nice surprise for me at Tubby's Tavern! I did not expect the food to be so delicious, but it really was! Jackie served us and she is very nice and made awesome recommendations, made me feel at home, particularly since she and I bonded over our football teams. I had the pastrami sandwich that I am still raving about two hours later and their sweet potato fries. The pastrami was grilled and had just the right amount of meat with no fat and the bread was toasted perfectly. I asked for extra pickles, but it already came with a huge pickle spear. The fries were pretty good. They have numerous televisions, a jukebox, playing my 70s and 80s jam, arcade games, and a warm ambience. Will definitely return. read more
