I'm honestly very disappointed. We ordered delivery from what used to be one of our favorite local restaurants. Three years ago, we dined here and had an amazing experience, which is why we were excited to order again. Unfortunately, this meal was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. I ordered the pork ribs and fried shrimp. The ribs were extremely dry--so dry that they tasted like they had been cooked days earlier and reheated multiple times. They were nothing like the ribs I remembered from previous visits. After just a few bites, I started feeling uncomfortable. The fried shrimp was equally disappointing. It had almost no flavor at all and tasted bland and uninspired. My husband ordered the burger, which was advertised as a blend of Wagyu and regular beef. We were expecting something special, but the patty lacked flavor and the quality was disappointing. What surprised us even more was that we live only five minutes away, yet the burger bun arrived completely soggy. The packaging was also poor. The food came in cheap plastic containers without any ventilation holes. For fried foods especially, proper packaging is important to prevent steam from ruining the texture. It felt like very little care was put into preparing the order for delivery. To make matters worse, both my husband and I experienced stomach discomfort and excessive gas afterward, and we were still feeling it the next day. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that this was my husband's birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant because of the wonderful memories we had here years ago, but the food quality was nowhere near what we remembered. I genuinely cannot understand how food of this quality was considered acceptable to send out to customers. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes a closer look at its food quality and delivery standards.
Solid spot, great drinks and atmosphere, we sat at the bar. The burger was disappointing though. The cheese tasted really fake and the fries were alright.
We came here for a BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION and he made reservations for 8 people at 7pm on Saturday. There's a SECRET password to actually get into the restaurant. We were taken to our seat which was a NICE private seating with its on TV screen. It has a nice wall which made it sound a bit quieter but, then the waiter came and said OOPS sorry we gave you the wrong seats and so we were taken to the SEATS near the restroom and it was so LOUD... 2 orders TOMAHAWK: 10/10 The food was EXCELLENT!!! OMG the CORN TORTILLAS was the best I've ever had!!! I would just be so happy to have the CORN TORTILLAS but, their meats are all really flavorful and tender too!!!... CAULIFLOWER: 10/10 The flavor and texture of the cauliflower was so good!!! BRUSSELS SPROUTS: 10/10 I loved the sauce so much and the Brussels sprouts were so adorably cute and small. It's usually bitter but, it doesn't taste as bitter here and the sauce was just AMAZING!!!! SERVICE: 8/10 Good but, could be better! We waited 30-40 minutes after finishing dinner for the cake to be served. And with no knife to cut the cake and utensils provided!!! Come here for the FOOD PEOPLE!!!! Let's ROCK ON LA BODEGA BREWING!!!!!!

This place is an absolute amazing hidden gem. I would strongly recommend making reservations as they are normally fully booked on the weekends. They have some of the best tasting dishes, unique drinks and great decor.
Such a fun and unexpected spot with a speak easy feel. We stopped by for bites and drinks and were pleasantly pleased with the vibe, drinks, food and friendly staff. You must make a reservation but are able to get seated as a walk-in if its not busy. We had a reservation and were seated within minutes. The front entrance display looks like a butcher shop which is actually functional and not just for display, in other words you can order a nice cut of beef to take home. Once you pass the freezer door entrance inside, you'll be seated in a small dining area with a full-size bar and a wall display of locked Steins which actually belong to club members (which on its own is a whole other can of surprisingly cool worms to delve into). Overall, we had a fun time and enjoyed everything we ordered so we'll def be back. Another plus, there's a free easily accessible parking structure across the street.
Absolutely LOVED the ambiance! Such a beautiful vibe & extremely chill. Not what I expected at all when we walked back, but soooo worth it. The food was delicious! The cocktails were okay, they looked great though. The Caesar salad chicken sandwich was SO GOOD! Chicharrones w guacamole was delicious! The wings, carne asada fries & chips/ salsa were delicious. Our waitress was extremely attentive & on top of our order. Always keeping an eye on us without hovering. Love that. Will definitely come back. Great spot in Whittier!
Came here for beer and food and was not disappointed. Did not have a reservation for a Tuesday night but after 20 mins we were able to sit down. The food is a bit pricey but high quality. Loved the steak fried rice, was enough for me even though it's listed as a side.
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 First time here and it was definitely a good find. A speakeasy close to uptown Whittier that looks like a meat market from the outside. Recommend making a reservation for this place before you go. You walk through the "freezer door" to get into the inside of the speakeasy where it is spacious and has cute, dimly lit ambiance with a bar. Started with chips and salsa, not complimentary or bottomless, unfortunately. Chips were good and salsa was HOT, but delish. Then had the guava summer salad - light and refreshing with guava, figs and avocado on it. Ordered a guava seltzer - not great and barely has guava flavor and would not order again. Then for dinner we got the El Comal (chicken, tristar angus skirt steak and pork adobada that comes with salsa and homemade corn and flour tortillas). This dish can be shared and serves 2-3 ppl. This dish was AMAZING. Each meat was cooked perfectly - buttery, moist, flavorful, melt in your mouth pieces of meat. I was actually throroughly surprised at how good it was and was very full and still had leftovers. Will DEFINITELY be back.
We came here for date night and thankfully we had reservations, because the wait time was 45 minutes long. It was my first time here, you walk into what looks like a meat market store front, you then wait and are let in through a freezer door, kind of like a speakeasy. We ordered their sizzling hot plate with beef, pork, and chicken, it comes with tortillas and a bit of grilled veggie and two pieces of cheese. We had beer and wine . They don't have mixed drinks, as they don't have a liquor license. Cool little date night spot.
We tried the chicken schnitzel at the Booktoberfest. It was fantastic. The chilled red wine cabbage complimented the dish perfectly. Id love to actually go and dine at this place and enjoy dinner and drinks. The staff was very friendly.
This place is such a vibe for date night! Brian our server recommended the guava seltzer. It totally hit, it was strong and had a great flavor. The queso fundido with mushrooms and homemade tortillas was the perfect start! El comal is what we had for the main dish, 10/10. The meat was tender with delicious flavor. Of course had leftovers it was a big platter. Definitely going to be coming back!

Came in for brunch and was not disappointed! Their cafe de olla is exceptional and definitely goes well paired with their freshly made conchas! The breakfast burrito was delicious and was more than enough food. Tried a flight of beers and my favorites were the El Rey beer and the Hazlitt, both great light beers. The strawberry seltzer is my personal favorite from Bodega, and if you're looking to make it even better, ask to mix it with their Guava seltzer, game changer! Shout out to my server Anthony, very helpful in helping me decide what to eat and drink. He was quite attentive and quite frankly made my experience at Bodega a great one! Absolutely loved this place!!! And will definitely be back to try more items on the menu! Parking: There is street parking and a small parking lot to the right of the building! Entrance and wait-time: When entering it looks like a small butcher/ brewery shop but the restaurant is through the huge fridge door! Loved the speakeasy vibe. There is someone at the register to help you with seating just let them know you are there for the restaurant! Seating : They have table and bar seating. We came twice, once on a Saturday evening and got bar sitting, which was about a five minute wait. The second time we decided to come Saturday morning which was a bit more crowded and we waited about 30 min for a table. It does look like it gets packed during the weekend so I would suggest you go to their website and RSVP or RSVP on Yelp! Service: The host was very welcoming! And waiters were friendly and informative! Our meals came out with in 10 min and were attentive with our waters and seeing if we wanted anything else. Food: We ordered from the brunch menu and got THE BUTCHER'S SMASH BURGER and the SHORT RIB CHILE COLORADO CHILAQUILES!! Which is now one of my favorite spots to get them at!!! They have a variety of Cervezas/Beer and they all sounded delicious so we had to get the flight!!! We ordered the Hazlitt, Azteca, Westcoast IPA, March Madness! Our favorite was the HAZLITT!! Great ambiance, the food came out one dish at a time, literally one at a time with extended gaps of time in between! We couldn't eat together at the same time causing our food to get cold as we waited! Very bad expediting of service! Not to mention being very pricy for average tasting food! I brought out-of-town guests for an evening of what i hoped would be fine dining and we were left with not wanting to return. Thanks anyhow read more

La Bodega is by far my favorite place to dine and drink at in all of Los Angeles County and the city of Whittier. This place is a Latino owned Art Deco themed establishment. The place specifically is a speakeasy and it presents itself as a butchers shop with the bar being buried inside. It has a rather ambient and comfortable atmosphere while you walk in and throughout the whole experience you are treated with great customer service. I personally appreciate the Art Deco theme as it not only calls back to the speakeasies of the 1920s but the cultural heritage of Los Angeles itself. Normally I love to sit at the bar as it's convenient to order drinks on the spot. The drinks there are amazing and also the sizes are in very generous portions. I do visit La Bodega every so often and they do seem to rotate new drinks frequently on the menu. Not only are the drinks unique but also very tasty and refreshing. I always try to drink something new and they never seem to disappoint. As for food specifically every single food item I've tried here has definitely left me craving for more. There hasn't been a single item where I was left disappointed. From the Bodega burger to the appetizers each item is carefully prepared and made by someone who cares about your experience dining. The Bodega burger specifically is a rich assortments of flavors, I personally do suggest adding the bacon and avocado to the burger as it blends in so well. The food at La Bodega is so good it's as if I stumbled upon a 5 star Michelin restaurant. All of the portions for the main meals are generous and you'll be left feeling satisfied and full. With regard to customer service, they are quick to attend to your table. Food comes out rather fast and as with drinks they happily provide samples before you decide to commit. Every employee there is friendly and never once did I feel uncomfortable or irritated. The experience at La Bodega has always been one of joy. I always look forward to the next opportunity of dining here. I've always been a supporter of local businesses and I urge the people of Whittier and those within the county of Los Angeles to eat and drink at this speakeasy. It was a Tuesday night in the heart of Whittier Village. My partner Gunga & I got a tip the best Steaks in town are served here. So, we investigated Walking into the small Foyer of the La Bodega Brewing Company, we observed a display of Tomahawk, Waygu and Tri-Tips behind a sheet of glass displaying their wears. In the far corner, sat a young woman in black. Who is she? Is she here to meet someone? She broke the silence "Can I help you"? Gunga said "We're here to see the Butcher". The mystery girl replied; "One moment". Soon, a large steel door, two inches thick, opened by a well dressed gentleman said "The Butcher is ready". We entered the hidden Dining Room, transporting us into an upscale area reminiscent of the Private Clubs of the Old World. You might expect to see Clark Gable and Greta Garbo in a booth, in the back, in a corner, in the dark. Or, perhaps The Rat Pack at the Bar choosing from the multitude of IPAs, Lagers and Stouts. We were seated in a comfortable booth / table, and began perusing the virtual QR menu from our department provided mobile phones. Gunga ordered Wings & a Steak Burger. I decided on the Drunken Japanese Waygu 6oz. Steak shown here as evidence. It arrived Medium-Rare as ordered. The well marbled Steak melted in my mouth. Presented over stones lying among course sea salt. This is in fact, one of the best Steaks I've had since Obama served his first term. The service, ambiance and total experience Was certainly memorable. We finished our drinks and left without any witnesses. When in Whittier I hope you get a chance to search for the La Bodega Brewing Company and discover for yourself a diamond in the rough within the Whittier Village. Had a wonderful weekend and it was highlighted by a first time visit to La Bodega Brewing . People!!! This is a hidden gem. It has a great vibe. Relaxed and chill but very classy in a really great way. Establishment was impeccable. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. I recently stopped by to eat at the Bodega Brewing Company, "sneak easy" type restaurant. The vibe was relaxed, with a cool atmosphere that made it perfect for a casual meal on a Friday night. Recently celebrated my birthday with Good friends and Ryan our server was outstanding. The guava salad., the chicken, the chili Verde, and all of the appetizers were absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef for the delicious meal. The only dish that needs improvement was the shrimp sadly, it was overcooked. read more
We took my mother here for her birthday brunch a few years ago and to commence this year's birthday, she was eager to try the dinner menu. Was not disappointed. Everything ordered from the appetizers: shrimp ceviche with its freshness to the entrees of the Bodega Burger that was juicy and flavorful to the presentable El Comal with its variety of tasty proteins was enjoyed. For my vegan sister, the Roasted Cauliflower with soy glaze packed a huge flavor that was satisfying. I've been here two times and they are very gracious for providing us the private room for our party of six. It is very nice. The food was delicious. We had the Toma Hawk steak and the Chilean Seabass was crispy and cooked to perfection. The Paloma Negras were so delicious. I couldn't stop drinking them.! read more

This is truly one of the best speakeasies out there. The food is out of this world good, and the drinks are fire! I highly recommend going for their happy hour, every Friday at 12PM-4PM. They serve one of the best gourmet burgers for happy hour called the Bodega burger with fries. Every bite of the burger you can taste, which can be hard to get right for most gourmet burgers. Service was exceptional from our server, Anthony, going above and beyond in probably one of the best food/drink service experiences I've ever had. Ambiance is just like you would expect from a speakeasy, secluded but feeling like you have exclusive VIP vibes inside. It's a great place to bring family/friends or even a romantic date. Definitely need to go back, especially since I was told from our server that the brunch menu is great too! read more

Cool little speak easy, brewery. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. We sat at the bar. Walk ins. No reservations. It was a Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Only a handful of people when we arrived, sitting at some tables. Eclectic. Different. We had the Carne Asada fries and they were FIRE!!! We almost ordered a second, but decided to try a different dish, so we ordered the burger with the Chile con carne Mac and Cheese. OMG! Drool city! Let's just say, we were NOT disappointed! Food is really good here. Especially when you are taking back some cold ones, it fits the bill. The beer was ok. Not the best I've had, but decent. We had a flight and a strawberry margarita. Came in for brunch with my 3 kids. We all loved it. The atmosphere is very cool, the girls loved that they had to walk through a fridge door into a "fancy" room. Loved their brunch options. Got the huevos divorciados. Not too spicy but just enough kick for most to enjoy and the portion was perfect. The eggs in the kids meal were so fluffy! Even reheated they were great since we had leftovers. And the cafe de olla was perfectly sweetened. Our server was amazing and so nice. We'll be back! read more

What an experience! This bar & restaurant is like no other. Located behind the door of a meat market, it can be easy to miss! Once you pass through the large vaulted door you enter into a speakeasy lounge with beautiful decor and ambiance. Seating is available in a private room, open seating, and bar seating. Their margaritas were freshly made and their food was unbelievable. The quality of the meat was undeniably good, I can't say enough positive things about our experience here. Although it's not local for us, I would return in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique date night or night out with friends. Must try!! read more
The food, service, and vibes of this place are the best. You walk in to what looks like a store selling beer and some beef from cooler doors like a market/deli and then they open what looks like a big freeer door to a restaurant and bar. The service was amazing they are very attentive. The rib eye was delicious the sea bass was light and fresh. The mashed potatoes were garlicky and delicious.. the cilantro lime rice was kind of plain it kind of tasted like plain sticky rice I will definitely get the esquite next time and skip the rice.. we ordered the bread pudding it comes with ice cream on top omg!! Sooo good make sure you leave room for dessert. I have nothing but great things to say about this place it's small but such a cool place to go have a nice dinner.. read more
