Stopping by the Carlsbad Premium Outlets is a fun outing for anyone looking to shop a nice set of outlet stores in Carlsbad where the weather is typically lovely outside. There are plenty of stores along with some food options. There are some name brand stores and some stores not tied to name brands. There are deals regularly, especially around times like Black Friday and before and after any holiday. I often take a book and read it outside in a comfortable chair (hopefully out of the sun) while waiting for her to shop. When we went with her parents once, I sat with my father-in-law outside and we eventually stopped by Starbucks for a beverage. There are more than 85 stores and restaurants at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. My wife's favorite is the Ann Taylor Factory Store. There is also a Coach Outlet, Gap Factory, Michael Kors Outlet, and so much more. Some of the restaurant options include a Blaze Pizza, Starbucks (of course!), Jersey Mike's, Ruby's Diner, Rubio's Coastal Grill, Wetzel's Pretzels, Tea Monks, Panda Express, Oasis Tacos, Mot'to Japanese Grill, and Haagen Dazs. There are other restaurants a short drive from the Outlets if more sit-down restaurants are desired. There are plenty of sales, discounts, and deals. Each day, different sales are listed on their website at https://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/carlsbad/deals. There are also military, teacher, and student discounts (all published on their website). Be prepared to share IDs accordingly when taking advantage of the discounts. There is also a free Elite Rewards membership, which you can find out more about at https://plus.simon.com. Each store has its own hours though the general hours at 10 AM to 7 PM from Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 8 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday. I feel like the stores offer somewhat of a reduced price and deals like BOGO 50% off but it really depends on the store. As long as I find the good stuff at a good price, I'm a happy shopper. I definitely get my steps in since it's spacious. By the way, they always have fun events to go to; for example, Cars and Coffee, Summer Soundtrack Series, IMAX Movies at Metrolux, Comedy Nights just to name some and not to forget holiday related events. I had a disappointing experience at the Nike Outlet. There was a promotion advertising the Nike…read moreAlpha shoes for $189, but I noticed that around 10 shoe boxes on the shelf were individually marked with a price of $129. I picked up my size (8), which didn't have a price sticker, along with another box clearly marked $129, and asked an employee to clarify the pricing. She scanned the shoes, and they came up as $189. She then asked the manager if they could honor the $129 price since multiple boxes were clearly labeled that way. The manager refused, saying that because my size 8 box didn't have a $129 sticker, it had to be sold at the promotional price of $189. Instead of honoring the marked price or taking responsibility for the mistake, the manager instructed the employee to remove all of the $129-labeled boxes from the shelf. I've worked in retail before, and I've also been a customer at many other stores. When an item is mistakenly marked or advertised at the wrong price, good customer service is to honor the displayed price for the customer and then correct the mistake afterward. Pricing errors happen, but how management handles them is what matters. To make matters worse, during my visits, there was multiple times I watched people walk out of the store carrying what appeared to be multiple pairs of shoes without anyone stopping them, yet management refused to honor their own pricing mistake for an honest customer. That contrast made the situation even more frustrating. Instead of taking responsibility, management chose to remove the incorrectly marked boxes after I pointed out the mistake. That's poor customer service and reflects poorly on Nike's management. This experience left me disappointed and feeling like customer satisfaction wasn't a priority.
