5 stars for an outstanding Greek spot in Buckhead. My wife and I are always on the lookout for good Greek food after going on a 10 day your of Greece a couple years ago, so when we saw that Kyma, located on Piedmont Road near spots like Bones, was an Atlanta Top 75 spot, we knew we would have to check it out. We arrived at the venue (note: required $3 valet parking after a certain time...I think 5pm) and found a kind of interesting set up. The front entrance is rather grand with a nice revolving door leading to a nice server stand with full fishes behind it and nice dining areas to the left and right and a patio off farther to the right. We checked in and had clicked the "bar" option, which actually involves little tables near the bar. A little cramped for my style (fortunately my wife and I had been vaccinated by this point) but it actually worked out fine compared to the super crowded bar. The waitress came.over to get our drink orders and start things out. She came off as if she was a little new because she didn't have as much knowledge (aka salesmanship) about the food and drink, but she was also not too chatty (plus in my book) and prompt about everything from start to finish. Sometimes you want razzle dazzle, but other times you just want solid competent service and she provided that. We decided to go with the tasting menu approach (there are actually 3 different ones) along with 5 or 6 glasses a various Greek wine to share and pair with our food. The spread that comes with the tasting menu came out relatively quick and all 4 spreads (eggplant with yogurt and walnuts, chickpea with lemon, red roasted pepper, and kalamata olive) were delicious and fun to mix together with our pita bread (the venue actually gave enough pita to go with the dish! Sounds simple but so many places mess this up). Once we were done with our spread, our 3 selected appetizers started coming out. First was the lobster bites which were absolutely delicious and awesome. Next was the seafood special, that was just ok but included lots of good fresh pieces of fish. The final appetizer was the famous spicy lamb pie that was not too spicy (thank God) and was a really solid meat pastry dish. All of the appetizers were a respectable size and just great. Soon after finishing the appetizers, we moved on to the main dish. I was getting a little full by then, but boy did the Australian skewer (I think it was lamb) deliver. The meat was wonderfully cooked and the lemon couscous and sour cream-type of sauce made for quite a delight. We were pretty full by then, but decided to try the dessert taster. For $12, you get a bite size sample of 3 different desserts. We did the Greek yogurt, donut, and olive oil ice cream. None of the 3 blew us away, but each was good and fun to try as a small bite. Overall, Kyma delivered us an excellent Greek dining experience. The nice venue, solid service, and excellent food (for a relatively fair price) makes this a spot I would definitely recommend trying. read more

Five stars for an exceptional Mediterranean-style restaurant in an attractive setting. First off, this restaurant has one of the best Greek wine lists I've ever seen. My husband and I love Greek wines but they are often underrepresented, even at Greek restaurants. Another plus, the wines were very reasonably priced. We created our own "flight" of wines. We tried the Kir Yianni 'Akakies', Rose - Naoussa, Greece (sparkling rose), Moschofilero Boutari (sweeter white), Malagousia Gerovassiliou (similar to a fruity chardonnay), Agiorgitiko Papantonis "Medenagan" (dry red) and Xinomavro Kir Yianni "Ramnista" (another dry red). The sparkling rose was fantastic and I loved both of the reds. It was a great list. As far as food, we opted for the tasting menu. We selected the option that came with three appetizers and one shared entrée. It also came with the assortment of spreads which included kalamata olive puree, roasted red pepper and feta cheese puree, hummus and grilled eggplant puree with yogurt and walnuts. They were all great except the humus, which was mediocre. For the three appetizers, we selected the lightly fried lobster morsels with Greek honey mustard, the lamb pie and the seafood saganaki. The lobster was excellent and tender, though a bit salty. The lamb pie was very good and had a spicy kick. The seafood saganaki was a special and all of the fish was very tender. For our main, we had the lamb loin over couscous. It was very tender and beautiful cooked. Finally, we did the mini tasting, which gives you a single bite of three desserts. We tried the thyme honey yogurt, the loukoumades and the olive oil ice cream. The yogurt was great and the other two were fine. However, it was fun to try the three different desserts. I've lived in ATL all my life and drive by Kyma on a regular basis yet, I had never tried it until this weekend. I'll be honest, if it wasn't for our friends suggesting Kyma I prob still would've not tried Kyma. I'll say that it was a pleasant surprise. Kyma gets absolutely no attention in the ATL food scene but I'm surprised bc the food was quite good. There's no other high end Mediterranean restaurant in town that you could even compare it to so it's def a unique presence in ATL. We ordered the following dishes: assortment of all four spreads, octopus, spanakopita, saganaki "cheese", Greek salad, Dover sole, lavraki, blueberry pie, and baklava. The server insisted we order the octopus and he was right, it was amazing. The spreads are also a must as they're served with warm pita (which I hope is made in house). The spanakopita and saganaki were both good however, the Greek salad was excellent. For the mains we ordered two diff fish dishes. Lavraki, which is apparently the house favorite, was very mild and tender however, if you want something more rich go with the Dover sole. Service wise, our server was a French gentleman who was excellent. I was pretty peeved with Kyma tho bc we had made reservations for the week prior only to be told the day of that they couldn't honor our request to be seated outdoors due to another party. It seems like the problems lie with the hostesses. Nonetheless don't be surprised if they cancel your reservations last minute. We actually made back up reservations in case Kyma decided they couldn't accommodate us again. It was a pretty terrible first impression. read more

Kyma - 1.5lb of lavraki - Greek Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

About once a month I order delivery for lunch or dinner through uber eats and doordash with Kyma and Lamb Shack. It's hit or miss. Lamb shack is very hit or miss. Kyma is better. Today I got an octopus wrap. The advertised roma tomatoes were not, they were three large cumbersome chunks of regular tomatoes, the fries I ordered in the wrap were totally missing. The arugula was not very fresh. The octopus was excellent though. Two weeks ago I ordered two chicken wraps from Lamb Shack. The chicken was EXTREMELY dry way overcooked (tasted like they were days old) and clumped together. Most of the chicken was inedible. The lamb chops are fantastic when done right. But about 1/3 of the time from both Kyma and Lamb shack they are over done dry and chewy. An order of two or three chops can be different for each chop. When you order delivery there is nothing to do to fix the food so it is very frustrating that they are not careful with their delivery orders. read more

My sister and I Dined in on 8/12. Bill was 138.12. She tipped in cash ($26) but the server, Charitee, took it upon herself to overcharge her by $65. We spoke with the manager Sunday (8/14) who stated corporate would need to process the refund when they opened on Tuesday. She said we would hear from her with an update but have heard nothing. We have the receipt showing the amount of the meal and what was charged to her card. The manager's number is 470-363-1075. We left a message for her asking for an update. It's disgusting to know that our server is a thief and now we have to provide evidence of it and play this waiting game. Kyma, we would like our money back now! Not in 7 days, not in 5 days.... Came here for dinner with a friend and so glad we came. We tried the lobster morsels which were so flavorful and an unique way to have lobsters fried. Also got the spinach pies and scallops. All the dishes were very tasty. The dessert was probably the highlight as it was not on the regular menu but a special for that night. Last week to celebrate the anniversary of my marriage to @safaduffa we went to one of my absolute favorite restaurants in ATL @kymaatlanta an upscale Greek restaurant by @buckheadlife restaurant group. A fun fact before we deep dive on why this is one of my favorite restaurants is that the chef here @chefpano went on @foodnetwork and BEAT @bobbyflay so just let that give you a bit of perspective on the quality of the food here. Let's break down my fav dish here the octopus: 1. Consistency: before I came to kyma I had no idea how well cooked octopus could be, this one is not even chewy, it's perfectly tender and the skin / tentacles are slightly crispy. Chef Pano idk how you do it. 2. Flavors: this octopus is savory and a bit lemony, pair that with the consistency and it's just delicious 3. Accompaniments: the octopus is served on top of olive oil, olives and capers. The sharpness of the capers pairs excellently with the lemony flavor of the octopus To be totally honest I could say more but Safa and I ate this octopus on less than 60 seconds so deeper analysis will come next time . Arrived on a Saturday night as a party of one. Travelling for work and saw this restaurant while searching for Greek food. The restaurant is finely appointed with modern Greek decor. The lobby has a chrome octopus to welcome you and a beautiful display of whole fish to choose. The lighting was dark and menu print was small making it difficult to read, even with glasses. Service was attentive, food was outstanding. While the restaurant serves sharing plates and is geared towards couples, I specifically asked the server if there was an option for the bone-in ribeye for one person. The menu seemed to indicate there would be 2 ribeyes and specified the price, per person. The server said there was an option. What he didn't tell me was that the option was to order the ribeye and pay the 2-person price. When I questioned the server he backtracked and said since it is a sharing restaurant, they price things per person. As I left, I wanted to see a menu and discuss with management, but the 2 managers and 3 hostesses that had been buzzing around throughout my visit had suddenly vanished. read more

Kyma is our favorite restaurant in the Buckhead Life group. We have been going to these restaurants for over two decades, however a part of me loves the ambiance at this Greek restaurant. We sat outside on the patio which was a tranquil blue that reminded me of Santorini, Greece. My husband, 12 y.o. Son, and I tried the grilled octopus which son really enjoyed and had a side Greek fried potatoes. We also had the lamb pie which my husband and I enjoyed. My son loves salmon, so he picked Arctic char for one which comes with kale salad on the side. He liked his dish. My husband chose the prawns which was not too filling but gave him room to enjoy dessert. I had the bean soup which was chunkier than I expected, but was tasty. We highly recommend the Greek donuts which are served hot and smothered with walnuts and honey and love. Before leaving, we made reservations for next month so that we can try the blueberry dessert. Went here for our 22nd anniversary and I will be back! This place has valet parking ($3.00 fee). Restrooms are very clean, which I very much appreciate seeing as I am a clean freak ;). We ordered the $52 per person tasting that is worth every penny. Also order the salted Sea Bass that was served with kale. The grilled octopus was so good that we had to have a second order. The drinks were delicious (Dirty Greek and Old Fashion). The ambience is relaxin, dark, and sexy. When you enter you are greeted and seated immediately. They have fish on display as well. Didn't ask if we'd ever been there before. Seemed to be in a rush to take our order. She only offered us restrictions, telling us that we had to order everything at once and we had to finish all of our apps before we received our entrees. We wanted some of our apps with our entrees and she was super stressed about it. Then she told us we were the last ones in the restaurant (she was ready for us to leave even though we'd already paid our check and people were still sitting at the bar). We weren't the last diners there. Appetizers were good (lobster minis and cheese), but my chicken entree was undercooked. 3 stars means I wouldn't return unless someone else really was dying to go. One of my top 5 Atlanta restaurants. I love everything Chef Pano prepares. The spicy lamb pie that melts in your mouth, the delectable grilled octopus, the salad with mizithra cheese- so refreshing. The Greek spreads, tough call... They're all so good. Everything is very fresh. I have Chef Pano's cookbook Modern Greek Cooking. To see how passionate he is about what he is creating is so evident when you're dining at Kyma. Your surroundings, your enjoyment, your evening. I have dined here many times and I rave about it each and every time. The last dinner I had was right before quarantine and I indulged in a Dirty Greek Martini. So different and delicious! Definitely try one (or two) if you love dirty martini's and castelveltrano olives. Also, when you go you must try the lobster morsels. It wouldn't be right if you didn't. Don't skip dessert either. Their manager had the audacity to call us "a liar" when denying us our reservation. The manager claimed to have called us on multiple occasions...we received ZERO calls. Really disappointed with our experience at Kyma. I would really recommend you go elsewhere for a nice seafood dinner in Atlanta. To begin, our cocktails--though they sounded interesting--took over 20 minutes to arrive, and we felt they were all fairly derivative and simple. Then the server didn't take our order for quite some time, and we waited a further 45 minutes for the food. The appetizers only came with the entrees, and only after we inquired after them. The waitress was extremely nice and did her best, so I wouldn't want to blame her. Not sure what the problem was. The food itself was just okay. It was all cold, and ridiculously salty. The lobster pasta was just a few cold chunks of lobster on top of a very simple tomato spaghetti, which was so salty it was inedible. The lamp chops were pretty good, and the lamb pasta as well, but the large fish dish and the salmon were very bony and overcooked. The only good parts of the meal were the calamari and the dip sampler. The kale was very lumpy. The pita wasn't even grilled; it felt like it was bought at Kroger the night before. The cherry on top was that the food was about $30-$40 per entree. Much better food to be had at this price point in Atlanta. The restaurant smelled heavily of fish and had odd lounge music playing very loudly. Not super pleasant atmosphere and not great service. read more

My son has voted Kyma best kids menu! He got the kids lamb chops. It made me wish I had gotten that entree. The trout was great though. Fresh and I loved the crispy skin. I also got the beet salad. It was good not great. The beet purée needed a bit more flavor but the beets were so fresh I still enjoyed the dish. From the hostess to our server the service was great. read more

My BFF took me here for a belated birthday dinner on a Thursday night. Reservations had been made for 8:30pm and its a good thing because the restaurant was filled to capacity. The restaurant sits in a tiny parking lot but Valet is only $2 so there's no need to try to find parking. When we walked in we were greeted by two gracious host and the first thing I noticed was a fish tank with a few fish swimming not sure if that is where our dinner came from but atleast it gives you the impression that you will be eating fresh fish. Upon arrival we were seated immediately in the main dining area. Our table was in a cozy booth which would be perfect for a date. Although the restaurant was packed the patrons spoke with their inside voices so it wasn't loud. The ambiance was classy and romantic. It felt like we were in Greece. They have a bar area that is super sexy and their outside patio is quaint but very nice. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I had a watermelon mint martini which was tasty, yet strong and refreshing. I ordered the Halibut Specialty and my friend ordered the Skate Steak. The presentation of everything was immaculate. My Halibut dish was fresh fish with fresh vegetables the flavors were ok but not what I expected I probably won't order it again. My friend had the Skate Steak Fish and he said it was tasty. Since it was a birthday dinner our waiter brought out a dessert, Baklava with pastatio ice cream and writing on the plate that read Happy Birthday. To top off the amazing service the dessert was very nice and delicious. Kyma is a great date night spot and I also saw a few tables with large parties that looked like they were celebrating an occasion. I will definitely be back. read more

I only been twice but the experience has been consistently exceptional . It is an expensive restaurant so don't come here on a budget. The restaurant has spacious seating with relaxing lighting . There is also the most professional staff from hostess to waiter valet staff. This dishes i had were full of flavor, definitely resembling delicacies that you eat while vacation overseas. Just don't make the mistake i did and order the SweetBread expecting pastries and later told i digested Veal Thymus Gland but it did tasted good ‍ read more

(Even better here than at their sister restaurant Chops) I had the Greek sea bass. Excellent piece of fish, and for first time tasted the neck in the head of the fish. (Read it was supposed to best). Reason I am being picky, is that rest was drenched in lemon sauce. I should have sent back but tried instead to eat the dryer pieces. Sorry but a $40 fish was not prepared properly. We also had the lobster morsal meze (tapas). It was great previous time. Wife loved the greek honey mustard for dipping, and the lobster was tender. My picky comment is that it wasnt crispy this time. The breading was flavorful but was a drop undercooked. Dessert was disappointing. Last time we had three excellent desserts on dessert tasting . We erred this time by getting the chocolate lava cake . Nothing special and ice cream was hardened by something, so half not edible. Will come back , as it is still the best greek restaurant. I took my girlfriend here for date night. I already did the research so I knew what to expect. Since she just got back from Greece earlier this year she's constantly talked about Greece. I figured this was a little way to get her back to Greece. With the colors, the food, all of it. Upon arriving your only option is to valet. It is free, so be sure to tip your valet. There is parking else where, but you'll have to walk. Spend the couple bucks and valet, it's worth it. Our table was not ready at the time so we grabbed a drink from the bar. They transferred our drinks to the table as our table became available. The colors of the restaurant are blue/turquoise and white. As you are walked to your table you see an ice chest that has fish and octopus there for your viewing and photo pleasure. Our server greeted us and quickly learned she was new. She never told us, but because we both had been in the service industry we could tell. We took it easy on her, but some questions were asked such as 'what's your favorite?' 'have you had this and what did you think?' 'What comes w/ this?' Nothing to difficult, but she struggled w/ answers to all. We started off w/ the Grilled Octopus - pickled red onion salad, red wine vinaigrette (BOMB!) If a place has octopus, I'm ordering it. Hands down this is in the top 3 places that serves it right! Brussel sprouts - lightly caramelized, extra virgin olive oil, lemon. For dinner we got Arctic Char - "unilateral", wild mushrooms, pickled pearl onions, garlic confit, sherry mushroom broth". This came off a bit fishy to both of us. Now I had this in Iceland earlier this year and it didn't taste quite the same. Lamb Shank - sour pasta pearls "trahana", tomato compote, mizithra cheese. Very tasty and full of flavor. This is place is a great date night spot. Even you wanted to come here just for apps and drinks. Highly recommend this spot.
