My first time here for brunch celebrating a couple of family milestones. We had a large group and our server kept hustling to be with us and was kind enough to split all of our checks which was quite an undertaking. I had the crab cake Benedict which was delicious and flavorful. It came with a side of potatoes and the fruit. The weather was beautiful so we are outside. Maybe it was an off time at night. Not sure -- but for a pricey NYE meal, this place wasn't it. Here's why: - The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from a box. - The fish tasted like it had been cooked and reheated multiple times - We sat for nearly 12 (maybe even closer to 15) minutes before someone came back to provide us with water and take our drink order after being sat. - The wine that was brought out was NOT what I ordered but the server told me it was because he switched it by his own doing. THIS PLACE IS A VIBE OKAY?? The bartender Sam, was such a sweet guy! He gave great wine recommendations to my friend and was so polite and friendly (with a sense of humor too!). The FOOD? *chef's kiss* I can't even pronounce what we ordered, but it was like a basil pasta with mozzarella balls + tomatoes (my friend added salmon to her order). I also got the mushroom flatbread appetizer which was DELICIOUS and we finished the night with the chocolate mousse cake (ALSO delicious) They still had Christmas decor on the ceiling which I found incredibly endearing for some reason. Went back to Basil after a very long time. When I lived close by I used to dine there often. We had a pleasant experience overall but I was not impressed about the food this time and it might have been because we chose the wrong items. We ordered the fries and blue cheese thinking it must had been something out of the ordinary. Instead it was literally a bowl of not so special fries with some blue cheese sauce to dip them (10$). We also tried the kibbeh croquettes. We got 2 very dry small croquettes with some yogurt sauce ($14). Hoping in something that would turn the experience around we ordered the lamb shawarma platter to share which was good. Dessert (creme brûlé cheesecake) was delicious. Got a glass of Pessimist and I was pleased about its temperature, just perfect for a red full body wine. Will need to go back to be able to try more appetizers and change my mind about the quality. The manager lady is very kind and professional! She loves her job you can tell. Kudos! Service was on point and ambience too. I really enjoyed the small intimate feel of the restaurant and not feeling rushed to get through our meal so they could turn tables over for incoming customers. I ate here on Saturday night for a birthday dinner right as they opened for dinner and the staff was very attentive to our party of 7. A number of us had drinks at the bar before being seated, I had the Amalfi Mule which was refreshing and delicious. One of the specials for the evening was a soy ginger glazed (I think) ahi tuna with mushroom mashed potatoes, and arugula. It was absolutely delicious, all of the flavors were a perfect party in my mouth and I would most definitely order it again. I definitely plan on dining here again. read more

Basil's was such a hidden gem! I came here with a group of 9 girls for Sunday brunch and there was no rush when we got there. Parking was easy to find on the street. There was also onsite valet for free (except for tips). It was quiet when we got there at 11:30, but was loud and lively by 2pm when we left. Service was friendly, but the waiter was a bit too friendly with some girls in the group (hands on girls shoulders, bending down super close to talk). I had the salmon bagel platter. It was $14 I believe. For that price, I was expecting a nice homemade bagel, but this one seemed store bought. Put together, the bagel was quite tasty, though. The sauce they drizzled over the salmon was a nice touch. I had a drink very similar to a Moscow mule - it was nice and strong. I'd recommend this spot! It's been YEARS since I've had the pleasure of dining on the sweet little patio at Basil's - a true hidden gem in Buckhead. This is a really popular locale for those in the know, tucked away on Grandview in an increasingly less residential area. (Buckhead is just evolving like crazy these days.) After my meal today, I've decided I've gotta get this one back in the regular rotation. Basil's offers a complimentary valet - always a nice touch! - but there's also tons of street parking around if you prefer. Reservations are available via OpenTable, but not too sure you need them (at least right now) as so few people know about how great this place is. The restaurant was about halfway / three-quarters full on the patio and only one table was seated in the (precious) dining room at lunchtime. I imagine the brunch crowd is significantly bigger. Decor is upscale and vaguely European. This would be a lovely spot for a ladies' brunch, a date night, or even a work meal. We started with the Crab Cake Fritters ($12). Three come per order. They were almost reminiscent of goat cheese fritters in shape and size, with that same great crispy breading, but my-oh-my the inside! Perfection! Definitely think these are worth ordering. The waitress also dropped off a small flatbread on the house that was topped with a tomato jam kind of spread and cheese. It was just OK, but I never say no to free bread. For my entrée, I had the North Georgia Trout ($17; comes in a lemon-garlic-cilantro oil with jasmine rice and veggies - broccoli, snap peas). The portion was great for lunchtime, and after the apps I even wound up taking half of it home for later. The lightness of the fish and veggies were definitely offset by the creamy sauce so even though it sounds light, it was a very filling meal. So glad I found this neighborhood gem! Basil's is an Italian restaurant located near the shops of Buckhead. It has a neighborhood feel with a lovely patio and lounge like sitting as well as a proper sit down restaurants. The owners and staff are all very familiar and knowledgeable and not intrusive. I stopped by on a weeknight and was pleasantly surprised to learn they also wine specials! Their already decently priced bottles are further discounted! I enjoyed the chicken tagliatelli which was a large portion and only $15! I could barely make it through 1/3 of the meal. I also enjoyed a bottle of rose for ~$17 after the discount. My friend enjoyed the scallops which were cooked perfectly. Live music was a nice touch as well! read more

Basil's is located in the Buckhead community of Atlanta, Georgia. It's near lots of great shops within walking distance. Upon my arrival to the restaurant the hostess found my reservation I'd made through Open Table. She then offered me seating in their large outdoor patio dining area. They are offering only outdoor dining at this time. After being seated a server brought me courtesy flatbread, and it was topped with a mix of tomato, basil, mozzarella cheese, and tasted perhaps to have some garlic or onion seasoning. It was nice. As an appetizer I ordered their assorted empanadas, and they too were prepared nicely, but it wasn't an assortment. They only served two, and both were the same. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon with rosemary, potatoes purée, and basil-curry sauce. The filet mignon was the most tender, and most excellent I've ever had! This is a must order upon your visit to Basil's. The entire service staff was noted to be working together as a team, and was cleaning a lot during my entire visit. They all also wore face mask. I like the effort they put into maintaining the restaurant's cleanliness. You've now have one more dining option to consider the next time you're in the Atlanta area. It's Basil's.
