Pollo enyucado
Samantha L.

Azara is a new physician-owned restaurant on the beltline that aims to combine more wholesome, healthy eating with a nice atmosphere. There were a lot of pros and cons so it's easier to break it down by category: Food: 5/10 Drinks: 8/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 10/10 The food is some mix of Spanish and Mediterranean-style tapas. We tried 10 items on the menu and the only thing we really loved was the pollo ancho, although it was inconsistent. We ordered a second pollo ancho and it had so much less flavor compared to the first. Overall, the food severely lacked seasoning which was disappointing. Some things tasted overcooked, like the salmon cakes and cauliflower steak, on top of needing more flavor. The Earth Rolls, Goat Cheese Puffs, and Saffron Pilaf were decent. The Mac and cheese lacked flavor, cheese, and any sort of salt. I would not recommend. The pollo enyucado is pretty much an empanada but it needs more filling inside. It was mostly just the dough part. Overall, I would not come back here to eat. You're paying premium prices for food that lacks flavor and isn't very filling. However, the atmosphere is great. It's very modern and has a classy vibe to it. In addition to the main dining area, they have an enclosed rooftop with a bar that is really nice. I would come back for drinks. I warn that the margarita is very sweet, though. We did not try other cocktails. We instead had wine and beers, but it was disappointing that for a brand new place, they were actually out of a bunch of the beers and wines on the menu.

I had a great experience at Azara. We went on a Friday night and sat on the main level, which was a perfect choice. There was a live guitarist whose music added a really nice touch, and the ambiance overall was warm, stylish, and inviting. I had the Blue Jasmine cocktail which was delicious. We tried 4 dishes that were 10/10. We wanted to try more but were too full so will definitely be back. Service was very attentive and fantastic

So it's my birthday weekend and I decided to have an engagement at Azara. I reached out online a week ago to make a reservation. No one ever got back to me. I called on Wednesday to make a reservation and was able to make one for a party of 10 on the rooftop. I got a call on Friday around 5 PM confirming my reservation for 8 PM. I get to the restaurant and I'm told that there is no reservation for me but they figure out how to make it happen anyway. I'm instructed to walk up the stairs and meet the hostess at the top of the stairs I get there. She takes us to what is supposed to be our table and she has us wait in the middle of the floor between the seats and the bar to find a table for us. She comes back, takes us to our table and it's dirty. There are glasses that are there that have been used from cocktails. We sit we have a server that comes in greet us about 10 minutes after us sitting and he tells us that he will get water I asked for no ice. He brings back five glasses of water to which only one has ice. I'm a little confused at this point. It takes about 20 minutes for us to get a menu. We had to ask our Server for the menu because he was nowhere to be found. We get the menus we wait about another 15 minutes before we can order cocktails and I noticed that our Server is attentive to everyone's table but ours he seemed a little overwhelmed. We order our cocktails they come we then about 10 minutes later order our food and it comes to us by a runner. Our waiter never came back to see how the food was he finally comes and asked if we want anything else at this point I'm so disappointed in the service from the time I walked through the door to the time I leave. I had a friend that had to leave because her parking had run out and we can't find our server once again. I have to literally get up go to the bar. Ask someone if they can find our server about 10 minutes later he finally comes. My friend ended up with a ticket because she went over the time that she was supposed to be in her parking space. The food was amazing. I was happy to have some options that were vegetarian/vegan because I am a vegan, but I'm a little taken back by the horrible service that I had. I forgot to mention that I am a professional chef and good service is so important to me, especially when I'm in an establishment that is absolutely gorgeous. Has beautiful views from the rooftop and it's packed with people. Don't know that I'll be back because the ambience, good views, and good food just isn't enough that is not the full package.

Tried this place on their grand opening night. I enjoyed the complimentary cava and the dip trio. I wasnt a huge fan of the other items I ordered (macaroni & Cheese and Salmon cakes). They lacked flavor. I might come back and try other items or go to the rooftop (it was closed for a private event).

She knew the menu inside and out and gave great recommendations that we ended up loving. Ajiah checked in on us at all the right times without ever being overbearing, and her positive energy really elevated the entire dining experience. It's rare to come across service that feels both professional and personal, but she nailed it. If you're going to Hawkers, definitely ask for Ajiah--you won't be disappointed!

I want to thank Dave for reaching out and taking the time to understand my concerns about my previous experience. That effort mattered. I recently had the chance to visit again on a Friday evening. It wasn't overly busy, I was seated promptly, and my server was attentive throughout. I tried a few new items along with some of my favorites, including the Korean BBQ Sticky Ribs (hopefully I got that right). This time, I left satisfied with the overall experience, and I felt it was only right to come back and share that update. One thing I will say, Friday evenings seem to be a better fit for me than a midday Saturday visit, especially with how busy the BeltLine can get.

The only available slot was from 6:30-8:00, and as long as we arrived on time, they'd seat us. We got there around 6:45 and had already looked over the menu on the way, so as soon as we sat down, we placed our entire order. The ambiance and decor were very nice and chill. It was a little loud, but we could still hear each other comfortably. We started with the sangria flight -- fruity and delicious. Our first appetizer was the papas bravas, crispy with just the right amount of spice. We also had the beef empanadas with chimichurri sauce, which were excellent. Next were the steak skewers, seasoned to perfection (though I do wish they offered a choice of cooking temperature). The octopus was my favorite -- char-grilled, tender, and full of flavor. We also tried the mac and cheese. It came out a little loose at first, but after sitting for a bit, it had a nice bite, especially with the chorizo. We finished with the shrimp in garlic butter and crostinis -- flavorful, garlicky, and one of our favorites of the night. Overall, this is one of the best tapas spots we've had in or around Atlanta. It's definitely our new favorite -- even over some of the local favorites in Decatur.

HAD A BLAST!!! What a great way to kick-off the Holidays! Tapa Tapa is now an ongoing pop-up…read morerestaurant, so they have different themed venues throughout the year. The Christmas pop-up just began and we were there right soon after they opened their doors ob Tuesday night. If going here doesn't get you in the Christmas festivities mood I don't know what will. The place is over-decorated and that is the point. It is all things Christmas and is warm, comfortable, and an overload for the senses. Lights, decorations, artwork, Christmas movies on their big screen, Christmas music on their speakers all contribute to a fun, lively environment. And, of course, there is also a Christmas-themed drink and tapas menu. Drinks are served in various Christmas glasses and mugs, all of which you can buy to take home if you'd like. They also have a seasonal line-up of craft beer. My wife had a Christmapolitan and I had the Yippie Ki Yay, both were delicious and packed a punch. For food we ordered: Donner & Blitzen (charcuterie board) - simple, yet great tasting meats & veggies Frosty Fries (fries w/warm beer cheese) - even though this was a good amount of fries, we had wished that we ordered two of these because they were that incredibly tasty. The beer cheese is killer with these hand-cut parmesan fries! Felix Navidad (brisket tacos) - these were flavorful, but they were only two small tacos for $11; for the money, I would definitely get something else next time. Gingerbread & Friends (cookies) - we got these for dessert, but would suggest a pass on them as they are just store-bought little cookies that you can ice and add sprinkles. This was a fun, memorable experience and anyone who enjoys the magic of Christmas should find their way to Tapa Tapa before the Christmas pop-up ends after the holidays.
