The drinks were great, the Nang's Tasting Tree appetizer was a fantastic assortment, and the Siam Ocean and Sea Bass Panang special were both flavorful and well-seasoned. The food came out quickly, and overall it was a really nice evening. Now the bad news. When my girlfriend got home and opened her to-go box, there was a bottle cap inside the container. I'm not sure how it got in there, but it clearly ended up packed in with the food. While the food and service were excellent, finding a bottle cap in your to-go box is simply unacceptable. Because of that, I have to lower my rating to be fair. When you pay over $369.00 for two people you'd expect better. If you want true fine dining experience that also serves 10/10 food. This is the spot for you. Came here few times for business meetings and one for an anniversary dinner. First, there is plenty of parking! You can choose to do Valet or self park $7 Make sure you make a reservation because it does get packed. If you are celebrating a special occasion, the hostess and staff make sure they recognize it! ex: for our anniversary dindin, they had a little card on our table to show it was what we were celebrating so the servers and staff could congratulate us. When you stand up to use the restroom, the come around folding your napkin and they even make sure to ask if you want a white or black napkin in case you're wearing darker/lighter clothes. Food is always 10/10 and portions are plenty! One thing I will say, the specials are always a hit! So make sure you ask for their daily special. My friend's included the most succulent lamb chops with crispy lobster tail. My friend and I both enjoyed our food tremendously. Of course we couldn't help but share so we could each try everything. From the appetizers: dumplings and rolls to the drinks and our entrees, everything was tastefully plated and styled. The server was very helpful in giving us her opinions on dishes and all of her recommendations were spot on. She was friendly and service was timely. Valentines evening: I placed a dinner reservation for 2 about a week in advance for Valentine's night. I was given the option of prix fixe or full menu, because I'd never dined here before and absolutely LOVE Thai food, I chose the full menu option. I set the reservation for 5:45pm but arrived about 30 mins late because of horrendous traffic. Valet is available as well as self parking. $25 for premium valet. Upon arrival we were placed on the wait-list and escorted to the lounge to comfortably wait for our table. There's a full bar and plenty of seating in the lounge. After about a 20 min wait our table was available. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holiday with soft dim lighting, beautiful festive flowers, candles, balloons, and an overall romantic vibe that was perfect for a date night. Our waiter arrived shortly after with our menus but we were slightly disappointed to find out that only the prix fixe menu was available. The waiter explained that they'd made the mistake of offering the whole menu on another recent holiday and the kitchen was overwhelmed so they decided to scale back for Valentine's...understandable. The menu consisted of quite a few starters, soups, salads, 6 main dishes, and 2 desserts ($125/pp minimum, automatic gratuity added). We decided upon 2 orders of the Poh Pia Thod (vegetable spring rolls $14) as our starter, the Thai chili Sea bass special ($70) and the lobster fried rice ($63) as our mains, as well as the Bangkok rose and Grey lady $18/each for cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately the portion size of everything, from the apps to the entrees, were on the small side and my husband's lobster fried rice hardly contained any lobster meat, it was mostly just empty shell. What a lovely restaurant! Our team met here for a much needed respite from a long week of work and the atmosphere, service, and cuisine was balanced and flavorful. The appetizers were beautifully displayed and delicious. The variety satisfied the vegetarian and carnivores at the table, but hands down the soup was the most surprising delight of the night. The entrees were delicious and the chocolate cake divine, however the tea brûlée was not what we expected, not bad, just not the sweet creamy flavor you expect from a brûlée. I can't believe we are just discovering this place! We were looking for a quick lunch and found this through Yelp -- and I'm so glad we did. The ambience truly transports you straight to Thailand. It feels elevated, almost like a modern Bangkok dining room. Their sign at the entrance notes business casual attire. Parking is valet only for $5 or self-park for $7 (they do accept card). Our server was very respectful, attentive, and helped guide us so we could choose exactly what we wanted. Definitely do the Nan Tasting for the appetizer -- the presentation was beautiful and the flavors were even better. TLDR: *For the buckhead location. Small portions, very slow service, expensive, salty food, staff mixed up who ordered what leading to folks not getting their drinks and food. Went there on Saturday night with a big group, about 20 people and were seated promptly. I noticed that our group appeared to be the only folks in the restaurant which I thought strange for a Saturday evening. The server was nice and friendly. Unfortunately, that's where the positive things end. The first issue, it took the staff over an hour to bring out the drinks from the time we ordered them. It's not like they waited until all the drinks were done either, they brought them out one by one, some came out fast and some people were on their 2nd-3rd drink before others even had their first brought to them. In addition to taking a long time, when they brought my my drink it wasn't what I ordered. On the topic of them bringing out our orders, every time staff came to the table they never went right to who ordered it, they'd shout a name or the drink type etc and expect you to claim it. Instead of being able to talk to friends and have servers bring you what your ordered in timely fashion it's like you're on edge waiting to hear what item the staff is bringing out so you can finally get your drink only to double check it as being the wrong one. This restaurant has no idea how to operate properly and no care towards providing guests with a smooth, pleasurable dining experience. Next issue, the food portions were small, didn't taste good, weren't presented well, but high in cost. You'd think for expensive food with small portions, they'd learn to use more than a heavy dose of salt as seasoning. You don't get anything for your money here. I genuinely think you'd get better Thai food at almost any other entry level restaurant around the metro and in terms of fine dining, there isn't anything "fine" about this experience. Checked out Nan Thai on a business trip with co-workers and overall had a great experience! The lycheetini was really good and they seemed to have some really interesting other cocktail options. I ordered my own spring rolls which I think were the only vegetarian app option with the dipping sauce. They had some vegetarian entrée options that were not listed on the menu. I ended up ordering the basil fried rice with tofu off menu which was not very basil forward and honestly, it wasn't great. I think it would be nice if they could actually list all of these options on the menus to be a bit more inclusive to people with more dietary restrictions. Finally, the chocolate cake is what would probably have me coming back. It was so delicious but the thing that put it over the top was the thai tea ice cream. This is the best Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at and it isn't even close. I didn't find this place to be particularly expensive so I was surprised at how nice the interior was when I walked in. The wine selection is outstanding and I was able to enjoy one of my all time favorites, a Cabernet from the Cakebread cellars. The service is on par with a Michelin star restaurant and I have been to several. Make sure to get an appetizer here. I'm sure they are all good. For dinner I ended up with the Kai Yang Massaman. The cashews complimented the spice of the curry outstandingly and in a unique way that I have never experienced before. So disappointing! I've been celebrating Christmas dinner at Nan for the last 10 years and never been disappointed until tonight. For the first time, Nan offered only a Prix Fixe menu for Christmas and it did not go well. There was a trio of appetizers, which should have been served hot, but they weren't. There was a choice of soup or salad and I chose the paypaya salad but the shredded paypaya was under ripe and chewy. 30 minutes later, entrees were delivered and the ribeye with panang sauce was tough and gristly. It was one of the worst pieces of beef I've ever been served. I told the harried server that it was "not good" and she asked if I wanted to take it home. There were not enough servers, the prix fixe menu was lackluster and the only item served at an appropriate temperature was the bottled water. I won't go back to celebrate anything at Nan. Why did they change what obviously worked for a decade? Upon leaving, the lobby was crowded with diners who were waiting over an hour for their reserved table. My dinner took almost 3 hours. I had to eat it with the dipping sauce. Kai Yang Massaman did have flavor but I've had better for half the price. The chicken was not as moist for what I believed to be dark meat because I had a thigh bone in my dish, which was ok. I'm glad they had the automatic 20% gratuity posted for parties over 2. While I could have done without the drink and the price of it, I highly recommend the tasting tree. The pineapple fried rice dish was beautiful and tasty as well. The food quality and presentation were top notch. The food and service were good. For us, the location and availability was convenient and we were treated well. My sister and I decided to try Nan Thai Fine Dining for the first time because we wanted to experience something new. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated quickly, which was a great start. Unfortunately, our server, Samantha, completely ruined what could have been a wonderful evening. Samantha never greeted us with a smile and even rolled her eyes when we sat down. Despite that, my sister and I remained polite and friendly. We mentioned it was our first time dining there, but she ignored us and just took our drink order. It took about ten minutes for our drinks to arrive. When I asked if the chef had any special entrees for the evening, she rolled her eyes again and rushed through her response. Throughout the meal, Samantha made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I've eaten at both fine dining and casual restaurants and have never experienced such poor service. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious--five stars for the kitchen staff--but the service was unacceptable. It was hard not to notice that Samantha treated other tables with kindness and enthusiasm, while giving us nothing but cold, dismissive energy. As two young Black women, it truly felt like we were being treated differently because of how we look. She never checked to see if we needed refills or if our food was okay, and when it was time to pay, she simply dropped the check on the table and walked away. She was very attentive, friendly and made some great recommendations. They had four dinner specials, two appetizer specials and a drink special. I opted for my normal dish; however, my friend ordered the surf and turf special which was a fried lobster tail and lamb chops served with coconut sticky rice and papaya salad. Both dishes were tasty and beautifully plated. If you haven't ever tried Nan's, it's that perfect place for a celebratory dinner or for a night on the town with your friends. The first time I tried to dine at Nan, I missed my reservation and had to find other dining options. However, I was still determined to try the restaurant so, I choose it to celebrate my new job offer. This time, I arrived on time and was able to be seated. On to the food, this was my first time here and I already had low expectations. We all just ordered a bunch dishes and shared. The menu was very limited as I was not expecting it to be that small. However, the food was not the greatest but it was still good. I'm Laotian so the food to me was not as savory as real authentic Thai food. In my opinion the food was more Americanize, but I must say the best thing that I like was probably the calamari. One thing that stood out to me was the owner came into the private room a few times to check out on us and I really loved how all the servers work great together. I'm all for teamwork. The food here is great! This larb is the most authentic larb I've ever had in the United States. The servers are so helpful. This restaurant is a little upscale so be sure to dress up a little. I believe they had a sign at the door saying no hoodies. Will be coming back for sure. read more
