We had an absolutely horrendous experience. Waitress was fine although my husband ordered sweet tea which is on menu and got fruit juice. However our server was brand new and it was obvious he could not understand us or the waitress's notes for our order. When he came out he had a cereal sized bowl of noodles for serving 4 adults noodles, he did not know how to divide food to ensure everyone got same portion the ones who ordered rice had a lot of rice. He missed giving some rice/noodles and without asking just gave extra portions to others including 3 year old, while 2 adults ended up with a 1/4 cup each. The language barrier was absolutely horrid because he had no comprehension of the English language. So even after girls told him to stop when he was cooking rice and veggies with same tools he used for shrimp he stopped momentarily and than continued using contaminated tools on noodles. It was very upsetting because I have severe shellfish allergies and my daughter ask waitress at beginning if it was going to be a problem and waitress oh no it fine he will cook away from other foods. So I could not eat my food as he put contaminated noodles on top of the meat and vegetables he had already put on my plate. After everyone else enjoyed their dinner and were finished I ask to speak to the manager they sent 2 other people to me likely because they were the only ones who could understand and speak although struggled as well limited english. I said again I want to talk to manager they said he wasn't there we insisted they call him well this tall thin man came out said he nodded yes when ask if he was manager and listened to us but didn't speak he just laughed at us and smiled. We found it extremely rude and it angered my daughter and I realized he had no clue what we were saying I ask him to please repeat to us what we had told him two times and he just laughed and smiled. What little he did speak was just I only one no one else. We said obviously you cannot take this seriously we want to talk to owner he then got a call from a man my daughter saw name on phone and verified online he was owner but we did not get to talk to him. A young waitress came over and had taken 15% off our bill. The entire experience from time this new young man began cooking our food was frustrating and horrifying! The manager was absolutely horrid he clearly unable to understand or speak English as only the 2 female waitresses seem to have some understanding. My son in law saw how he was smiling and laughing at us and went up to him and said directly in his face that is no way to treat women and as he turned the manager grabbed his shoulder one of waitresses grabbed manager literAlly jumping on to his back to stop him and he followed us out flipping us off. All I wanted was for them to understand the seriousness of my allergies. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!! We will never go there again. We should have called cops for assaulting son in law. Unbelievably worst situation ever!! They should be required to know English to work in restaurant it was completely worst possible scenario. My lips were puffy like I had Botox my throat itchy and they had total disregard thankfully my daughter had Benadryl with her ! MY OPINION AVOID!! They are a chain restaurant I learned in our search to talk with owner directly. read more

***Manager Assaults Customer!*** Owner Kevin Chi anything you'd like to say about this?? Party of 10 went to dinner here to celebrate 3 family birthdays. Service was horrendous to say the least, with the manager physically assaulting. Including, but certainly not all of what we experienced is: -Chef did not get a single order right and refused to attempt to understand any of our basic requests or needs. -Portions were absurdly small due to chef not bringing enough food. -Member has severe anaphylactic shellfish allergy which the server and chef were informed of. Chef proceeded to cross contaminate and refused to correct. -Food was mediocre at best -Chef squirted alcohol from bottle into mouths or at people without permission or stating what the bottle contained. People who were underage and those who should not have / did not want to consume alcohol were all forced to do so. He refused to stop squirting it causing several people to choke. No employees of Kume cared to hear our concerns other than the server who was the only one who spoke any English. The server stated the meals would be comped, so our party began to leave, but were stopped. Instead of comping the meals as stated, the server wanted to give 3 free cake portions to us along with the check of several hundred dollars. The manager then came over and laughed throughout us telling him our experience and concerns. Members of our family were in tears at this point. He was extremely unprofessional. He made us pay for all meals. He refused to give any contact information for the owner. We payed the bill in full. As we were waking out, the manager physically grabs one of our family members and began to assault him. He was also verbally abusive to all members of our party. He followed us, taking pictures of us with his phone and flipping us off as we drove away. None of what we experienced tonight is okay in any establishment- to any person. read more

The service at this restaurant was impressively quick, ensuring a smooth dining experience. The restaurant itself was quite spacious, providing ample seating for guests. The sushi I ordered was exceptionally fresh, and I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll. Additionally, I tried the Chicken Yaki Udon, and it was a delightful choice as well. WOW! This place is a great modern addition to the Augusta area. In addition, it is the BEST hibachi I have been to in Maine. The food, entertainment, and huge bar beat any hibachi I have been to in Portland. Prices are reasonable. Their sushi lunch is one that can't be missed for the best deals on sushi around.
