The server/hostess was very abrupt in manner and seemed almost annoyed with us for being there. Everything was sticky: the menus with crumpled pages, the tables, the bathroom floor. It had kind of a crummy cafeteria vibe with drop ceilings and crappy laminate tables and 80s middle school tile floors and stacking chairs. I'm normally all for a hidden strip mall gem but this was not it. My partner ordered a spicy roll combo and asked the server if they were spicy/crunchy and she said they all had the panko crunch in the mix. What he got had zero spicy and zero crunchy. The rolls were minuscule, sloppy with a tiny chunk of fish in the middle and nothing else. The yellowtail was super fishy and tough. He didn't even finish his meal. I ordered two special maki and they were both sloppily presented. The server never cleared a single plate from underwhelming appetizer through the meal. She came through regularly with her noisy Rubbermaid cart with peoples' meals on it, even if it was a single plate one-handed carry and the lower shelves of the cart were empty and could have housed dirty dishes. And the pièce de résistance was it was wildly overpriced - perhaps some of the most expensive sushi I have ever had and I have had grocery store sushi that was better. Then I came home and was in the bathroom for literal hours after my stomach started feeling dodgy after eating. 1/5 food 0/5 service -20/5 ambiance Just absolutely not it.

After craving sushi for months, Ichiban did not disappoint!…read more The seaweed salad and miso soup were delicious, the nigiri fish cuts were beyond generous and all melted delightfully in the mouth. The spicy tuna maki roll was unlike any spicy tuna I've had before simply because they added what seemed to be a bit of tempura inside the roll, delicious! Will definitely be returning!

The nabeyaki looked like it had been made several days prior. The chicken which overwhelmed it was the texture of rubber; come to think of it, nearly everything in the soup was the same hopeless texture, absolutely inedible. Mushrooms were spit-out-awful and there were very few veggies. I knew better than to bother with the egg floating on top. The katzu chicken was clearly fried in ancient oil, echoing the complaint of an earlier reviewer, with a bitter nasty aftertaste. Noodles were absolutely tasteless. We asked for a container...to take the scraps home to our chickens. Because the server was efficient and pleasant, I decided not to ask for my money back. I would have been well within my rights to do so, without a peep, I'm guessing, from the kitchen. They know when they've screwed up and they did. All of which brings to mind Woody Allen's quote about life: such a large amount of misery and such small portions.

I just had to try and had some friends to visit and thought what the heck let's give it a shot! Place was busy with a party on arrival and able to get a seat quickly. Very limited seating so if you have a larger party and recommend contacting prior to ensure there is space. Service is quick and friendly for this tiny ninja haven. Nearly endless variety on the menu to choose from and ordered a handful of items between few apps, the boat appetizer and then the sushi boat. It is a ton of food!! Ended up bring quite a bit home after. Anything for two could feed a family of four with the amount received. Had Thai milk tea bobba to quench the thirst and was very delicious. I rated this five stars for the experience with the passion and energy Jackie and his family bring for your dining pleasure. I would rate the food as a four star, heavier on the deep fry for many items and a small portion of the sushi was not quite thawed. The flavors and mix of items are great and highly recommend trying for a great experience with a family passionate about their business! Thank you Jackie!!

In fact, the next day the restaurant would celebrate its one-year anniversary under its new structure. Considering all of our experience with Chinese restaurants, it was a rare treat to try a Japanese place. It has a pleasant and quiet ambience, with mood lighting and varied decor, including colorful parasols in a section of the ceiling over our heads. I don't know if they had had a lunch "rush" that day, but we usually do lunches around 2:00 at restaurants and avoid busier times. There were a handful of tables in use, served by two young men who were rather amusing. A few times we heard an exclamation from another part of the restaurant, apparently the employees watching Denmark win a World Cup soccer match. My wife and our friend ordered variations of Pad Thai, chicken and shrimp, and the former had a side hot and sour soup, and the latter an egg drop soup. The Bento Box I ordered came with a small bowl of onion soup. That wasn't impressive, to be frank. It was a small bowl with a clear broth and two tiny mushroom slices floating in it. But our friend didn't want her egg drop soup so she and I traded. She liked it. The hot and sour soup was also fine, and as for the rest of my Bento box, it was all okay. The rice and chicken were fine. I am not a sushi person, so the California rolls were surprisingly good, and the pork gyoza was tasty like a crispy sort of crab Rangoon. I didn't like the Bento Box enough to order it again, but I can see getting the Pad Thai like they had, or trying something else on the menu. Our server gave us one final smile when we asked for takeout containers when he brought a large plastic kitchen container and asked "is this big enough?" Then he pulled the normal styrofoam containers out of it.
