    Lobster roll

Food was excellent. One day I ordered the lobster roll with fries. Delicious and generous portion of lobster, the bun was average, fries were average. The second time I ordered whole bellied clam basket with onion rings and that was delicious. On both occasions, my friend had issues though. She found two human hairs in her sweet potato fries and the second time she specifically told the person taking her order that she had to avoid dairy, so no butter on the bun and no cheese and she mentioned this two or three times. When we got the food and got seated, there was cheese on her fish. I have two suggestions. (1)People in the customer food service business need to really really listen to their customers and pass it on to anyone else who needs to know. (2)Perhaps they should wear hairnets. We won't be back again.

We ordered two lobster rolls for takeout. They were delicious, particularly when eaten on the outside bench overlooking the nearby lake. The fries were interesting, wedge-shaped but sliced thinly lengthwise, so you get the flavor of the wedge with the crispiness of a thinner fry. The coating was slightly bitter though. However, the star of the show was the caramel milkshake. I would not have expected one of my most memorable milkshake experiences to be in a tucked-away part of Maine, but it was excellent.

We have been wanting to try the pizza here because we had some elsewhere in town that was okay but…read morewe thought the crust could have been better. Being fairly new to this part of Maine it is good to develop go-to places for different things. So we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and onion rings. The onion rings were good and the pizza was terrific. The crust was just right. There was an odd thing where it seemed like they hadn't finished slicing the pizza. My mouth is large but not that big! But it was a simple matter to finish slicing it myself. The people were friendly on the phone and in person. I read in a review that the parking could be challenging, so I was prepared to park next door if need be, but it was no problem. They had chicken salad sandwiches that were in small round buns (hamburger rolls?) and turkey sandwiches in small sub rolls. They looked intriguing and they were quite inexpensive so I will keep it in mind if I need to eat a meal on a shoestring sometime or if I want something a little different than the norm. Anyway, the pizza was so good I figure I have to try a cheeseburger there with fries sometime. There is no fast food place in town, so having a place to grab quick meals from would be great. Oil course it is also a convenience store with coffee, drinks and other items available. I didn't see any fresh pastries but there was a Nearly empty display there so they may have been sold out. All in all a place I want to try again, and in walking distance too.

For $14.95 lunch included several pizza choices, a choice of soup, salad, choice of dessert, and a drink. The pizza choices were all so delicious looking it was hard to choose. Unusual combos and all had fresh toppings! I tried the barbecue chicken, potato, and a combo of broccoli and mushrooms. All were super delicious and had a thin but chewy crust. My friend tried a very unusual pizza with walnuts, feta, Craisins, and apple and she proclaimed it the best pizza she's ever had. We also fell in love with the carrot ginger soup, the light as air chocolate cake with cocoa frosting, and most of all the maple vinaigrette for the salad. It was so good we each bought a bottle to take home. The lunch is an unbelievable bargain for the amount of food and everything is made with such care. I wish I lived nearby because I would go all the time! The service, the food made with love, and just the pure deliciousness! Also they sell fresh vegetables and prepared food to go. The food was so good that we abandoned our dinner plan and purchased salads and very delicious chicken salad sandwiches on their homemade bread for dinner. Also you get a lovely view of the farm while you eat!

There isn't a lot of seating available, but I guess they do a lot of takeout business and we certainly had no trouble getting seating on this visit. They are open two days a week, so you might want to confirm they are open before you go. The atmosphere and the service were terrific, as were the hot tender (bare) chicken wings we ordered. My wife wanted to try a special pizza they were offering that day, and I can't say I liked it as much as she (and others) did, but I suspect I would have liked a classic tomato sauce-based pizza much more, so it is just a matter of taste rather than quality. I imagine we will going out there again sometime, but I hope the roads are bare next time!
