A quick ride to a nearby lavender farm turned into a lunch to be remembered. Where do I begin?…read moreThe restaurant is a breakfast and lunch place early in the week, and is open later on weekends. It is in an old building with the most wonderful wood floors. There is a ramp outside for handicapped access. I got a great Reuben on swirled rye. It was so good. The star was a 4 piece fried chicken. It was hot and juicy with a light crust. Oh boy, was the chicken on point. I could wax poetic. The server was cute and rattled off ten different desserts like she was naming her kids--no hesitation! I thought that was impressive as I sure couldn't do that! The food was great as was the service. We will go again as it is only 45 minutes away from home.

The people are the sweetest ever but the food up here in these small towns suffer -- and the food isn't really that good - but where do people go? It's pretty tough up here - there are a few places but again - either the price isn't indicative of food they serve like The Mill Cafe - not good variety of reason and just the usual chain places which all are terrible choices of food to put in your body. I guess if you don't care and want it bland -- it's fine for a quick stop in. I love food that smells great - looks great and tastes great. I'll be cooking more at home moving forward.

Anglers is one of our favorite restaurants and I am surprised to see that it has been over three…read moreyears since I have written about it, so here I am. Turns out it is even better than I thought, because I really tested it this time. Anglers describes itself as a seafood place, and indeed they make the best fried scallops I have tried anywhere around here. I usually pair them with clams or oysters for a seafood combo for that reason. But I went in a different direction this time. Partly, I admit, due to the current market pricing, as the current cost is breathtaking, but also because it occurred to me that a kitchen that can provide the very best of a particular dish probably does well at other choices. So I went with the linguine veggie scampi. Then it came down to what type of potato I wanted for my one side dish, so I up-charged my way to sweet potato fries, which were good as always. My wife went with the dependable fish and chips and made sure she included their garlic-smashed potatoes as a side. And what can I say, my veggie scampi was delicious! It came with a pointy French baguette sort of thing and was quite a healthy-sized portion. I must confess that I don't remember exactly what our dinner companion had, but it involved scallops and lemon and she really liked it. Rosie was our server so we received efficient and fun service. Normally you pay on the way out, but this was just before the dinner rush, so she offered to handle the transaction at the table. So, to sum up, a great meal, slightly less expensive than usual, and we all defrayed the cost of the evening by bringing home a second meal.

I ordered the caprese sandwich with spinach instead of tomato and added tempeh. I was disappointed that the tempeh was smoked. A different flavor would have been better (pesto, plain). We all enjoyed the sandwiches. The ambiance was casual with music themed artwork on the walls. Tables were available inside and out. There was one high chair for our baby. Very convenient. The bathroom was clean and had everything we needed.

I'm from northern Maine, and my husband and I were recently traveling up there to spend Christmas…read moreand we had a friend with us. On our way, we were hoping for an excellent lunch, and Harvest Moon deli had good reviews, so we figured it was worth a try. The menu is a cute idea - themed around music (and presumably the name of the deli itself is after Neil Young, but not positive). There are a lot of options to choose from, but I landed on the chicken salad sandwich just because it's a classic and I was really in the mood for some. My sandwich was a disappointment. The bread was somewhat dry (especially the crust), the chicken salad itself was also dry as well. It was not flavorful, either. My husband's club sandwich had too much mayonnaise on it, so he ended up donating some of his mayo to my dry sandwich cause. (I didn't try his sandwich, but since his was toasted, he didn't experience the same dry bread issues). The deli seating area and bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly and the service was fast. I probably would give this another try someday if we needed to have lunch on the way up again, and I'd get something entirely different to compare.

There isn't a lot of seating available, but I guess they do a lot of takeout business and we certainly had no trouble getting seating on this visit. They are open two days a week, so you might want to confirm they are open before you go. The atmosphere and the service were terrific, as were the hot tender (bare) chicken wings we ordered. My wife wanted to try a special pizza they were offering that day, and I can't say I liked it as much as she (and others) did, but I suspect I would have liked a classic tomato sauce-based pizza much more, so it is just a matter of taste rather than quality. I imagine we will going out there again sometime, but I hope the roads are bare next time!
