Food took longer than expected to arrive but not terribly long. Food: I had the Rodeo Burger. Just a BBQ Bacon Burger wasn't bad, wasn't marvelous. My wife had the fish n chips and didn't like the breading, one daughter had the Fiesta Chicken which was amazing, the other had simple chicken fingers but it was a generous portion. We waited 40 minutes for our food and when it came a chicken sandwich and fish were overdone and the fries were undercooked. We all ate because we were starved and it was getting cold outside. It has been a couple of years since we came to Old Mill Pub, but a couple we were meeting for lunch wanted to go there. This time we sat outside, which was great on this warm day. We were served by Kristin, who was friendly and efficient. We waited a few minutes to order drinks, but only a few. I went with a flight of four draft beers, and only really liked the Guinness, so I also ordered one of those. Last time there I had ordered a burger and fries, but it didn't dazzle, so this time I went with the Reuben sandwich and up-charged onion rings. it was tasty, no complaint here. Great food! Was not expecting to show up at the small bar and have such delicious fish dinner and dessert! Staff was very friendly! I asked them to surprise me with whatever they wanted to serve me for dinner, and it was probably the best decision, because my food was delicious! Was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Skowheagan. Visited it coming back from Canada. No wait to get in sat right down. Not much of a crowd. Waited almost 20 minutes no waitress, asked another worker who our waitress was. She went to get someone but she came back and went to a table right by us where two people just sat down, took their drink order, come back just a couple minutes later with drinks and took their order. She walked right by us without even looking at us. Ten minutes later came back with the other tables meals. That's when we decided to leave. Will never go back again! read more

Ambiance great, some of the food was good. Outside dining by the water would had been nice but we were seated upstairs. After our party was seated they seated a 3rd party and gave them "the best seats on the floor." We waited an hour for our food to arrive, drinks were not kept refilled and when the food arrived 1/2 of it was Luke warm at best. After waiting so long we decided not to send our food back, who knows when we'd get it back! The service timing was well off from being seated to being served and we had to ask for our check from another server. Our server was chit chatting with staff making plans for a double date downstairs with food ready to go to a customer on her tray as we walked out the door after paying our tab with the other server. Avoid this place at all costs as the owner, (Eric D) is an absolute jerk and utterly rude to customers. My family and I showed up for 11:30 reservations and the owner promptly and rudely told us to shut the door and to social distance even though we had masks on and are a family. He also snapped at another couple behind us to shut the door to which I spoke up and said "lighten up please". The owner told me to step outside and I gladly did and told him he's losing customers. We could immediately tell that our server was far less friendly to us than she was to the other tables. Maybe we looked too 'different', maybe we looked poor and she thought we wouldn't tip well. (We did, and regret it in hindsight). Also, I saw a server eating forkfuls off the plates on the line. I got a bad and adversarial vibe off everyone working there. We went tonight for dinner. I am visiting from Virginia and we found it on yelp to try. We ordered too much food for 2 people. We got the Mexican corn dip with chips. So good. We also got the pretzel and cheese app. Really good soft pretzels and the cheese was perfect. Onion rings are crunchy and perfect. Cole slaw was creamy and tasty. Green beans were crunch with a buttery sauce. Different but good. And the haddock bites. I didn't eat them but my friend said they were good. We sat upstairs overlooking the river. Really beautiful building. Our waitress was attentive but didn't hover. A great place for dinner. read more

We were sat quickly, upstairs, cute place, however, we ordered appetizers first then drinks. 30 minutes later and still no food or drinks. We addressed the manager, he brushed us off. This small restaurant in the center of town has been a stopping point of mine every time I am in Skowhegan. The draft beer selection is mostly local and varied. The sandwiches and pininis are very good, avoid the chips and pay the extra for the onion rings. The parking area is hard to find but this restaurant is located right on the river and has great views. This is the only restaurant in Skowhegan that I have found to be worth a return trip. read more

Have I had worse service than this? Probably but not in the last several years. I have eaten here many times. I ate here yesterday. And the service was great yesterday. Today I have the worlds worst waitress. It took an hour to get the appetizer. The app was great, hot bar pretzels with a spicy queso sauce. Wonder why it took an hour. So far an hour and 49 minutes to get dinner. So far. The waitress told us the kitchen can't keep up. Of course, from our table I have been watching diners come in, get fed, and leave. And having been here many, many times I am reasonably sure she is lying to us. Too bad. If I get her name I will be sure to let all know so you can avoid her. In my experience I can identify a waitress that is overwhelmed. You can't hide that from the patrons. It was very busy tonight. Now, most of her tables are gone and we are getting attention. Surprise. Her name is Christen D. She did remove the appetizer from the bill and the first round of drinks and apologized. That was nice. Old Mill Pub is almost always a great place to go. My boyfriend and I went to the Old Mill Pub around 3pm on a Monday, and it seemed like a pretty slow time. Our waitress was friendly and prompt through out the visit. I got their Blueberry Basil Martini on their "speciality drink" list, which was decent. Would definitely recommend this pub to people passing through Skowhegan. Great service! Kate really took care of us. She was very knowledge about the local breweries and helped us figure out what to get for our flight of beers to get and all were perfect!! I had the sirloin with onions and mushrooms which was great with mashed potatoes and green beans. My mom had the mussels that were delicious as well the sauce had bell peppers in it that gave them a lot of flavor. Would definitely recommend both of those options. I also loved the Tropical White Sangria very sweet and fruity but not over the top. The restaurant is located right by a Dam which was so beautiful to look at on a nice spring day! When we arrived our party of 6 for lunch were told there is a 15 min wait to be seated. Cool, we sat at the bar and had cocktails. We noticed that upstairs was virtually empty with plenty of tables even for our group. However, 30mjn later we were seated .... guess where? Yup upstairs. So we waited another 15 mins for the server to take our order and another at least 40 mins for the food to arrive. One good thing, the food was fine but again, the wait time was excessive. I would give this zero stars if I could. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had in my life and that includes getting food poisoning at least three times. We had a waitress that disappeared after she took our order for an hour and 45 minutes only to come back with our dried out over cooked food. We asked to speak to the manager and the manager was very unprofessional and threatened to call the cops after we complained. After my wife paid the bill we were driving home and realized that we were overcharged and had to turn around and go back. The server was very pleasant and showed us to a good seat out on the deck with a great view of the Kennebec River. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the meal. We both ordered turkey club sandwiches on rye, although my companion got the standard "chips" and I got the onion rings. My companion asked for verification that the potato chips were made fresh in the kitchen and the server honestly revealed someone else, somewhere else, made the chips and they fried them. I should have asked the same about the onion rings which came with a $1.50 upcharge to replace the chips. The sandwiches were very mediocre with a couple of slices of turkey loaf, a scant slice of tomato and some thin lettuce. The bacon was undercooked and very fatty. The rye bread was good. The chips were over fried and tasted like they had been previously frozen. But they shone compared to the onion rings. The rings were obviously factory made frozen rings like you can find at any low class fried food emporium. For this culinary catastrophe, I had to pay extra? Very disappointing. The pickle that came with each sandwich was good. I won't return no matter how nice the view is. read more

Happened to run into this place while on vacation at North Country Rivers, and I'm glad we did. Talk about service! The lady that served us, I wish I could remember her name was extremely good at her job. She was so attentive, that she could sense when we didn't like something (was my fault) and without us having to say anything she would make sure to right the situation. It's rare that people pay enough attention to notice, take the time to do something about it, and do so without you having to take the first step. That folks, is what customer service is all about. Very friendly establishment, and the food was plentiful and tasty. The place was packed - seemed to be the only restaurant serving food in the immediate area but we were seated right as we walked in which was a nice surprise. I took the time to tell the manager about our experience because our waitress was that good, and he was genuinely happy to hear how well his staff was treating their customers. Nothing worse when you can tell a manager doesn't care. It starts from the top! I'll definitely be coming back when we visit North Country Rivers again, based on service alone.
