Everything both me and my wife ordered was delicious, but not over done. You could taste the ingredients. The Mai Thai wasn't too sweet. I know that perfection is subjective, but I'd be happy to eat the meal I just had every night. Portions were generous, so I wanted to save some for lunch tomorrow, but I couldn't stop eating. I'm excited to have a restaurant to be excited about in Newport again. If I could give 6 stars I would. Highly recommend, I'll absolutely be a rigging forward.

We stopped in on our way to Rockwood, Maine because we passed this place all the time. I have to…read moreagree with everyone who's written a review that the interior of this restaurant meets a whole Lotta help. I hate when the store becomes the front of the restaurant it just annoys me. Also had looked at the menus online and none of them had the prices that we paid so I took a picture of the new prices as of July 2024. Most assuredly much higher than what was shown online. I would also agree that the people who run this place seems irritated that we actually stopped to order food, but I think it might just be his personality. With all the external negatives about this place, I have to say the food was good. They were very busy with lots of people coming in and getting pick up orders. I probably wouldn't sit here and eat because I feel like I'm eating in their store room, but I do have to say the food is good , I'm giving them 3 stars because they need to clean the place up

Plus on our last trip they forgot to send the sweet and sour sauce with the sweet and sour chicken, or the rice that was supposed to come with it. It is a pain because now I will have to check each order when we pick it up. I mean, it is unlikely to happen again, but who wants to drive back to fetch stuff? Well, it is our hometown Chinese option so we will keep trying, but I daresay if we are driving to or through Newport before we order, we may well use one of their options instead.

We were sort of deflected to this restaurant by two other places being closed on this day, our…read moreanniversary as it happened. It reopened a year ago with a new menu, we were told. In fact, the next day the restaurant would celebrate its one-year anniversary under its new structure. Considering all of our experience with Chinese restaurants, it was a rare treat to try a Japanese place. It has a pleasant and quiet ambience, with mood lighting and varied decor, including colorful parasols in a section of the ceiling over our heads. I don't know if they had had a lunch "rush" that day, but we usually do lunches around 2:00 at restaurants and avoid busier times. There were a handful of tables in use, served by two young men who were rather amusing. A few times we heard an exclamation from another part of the restaurant, apparently the employees watching Denmark win a World Cup soccer match. My wife and our friend ordered variations of Pad Thai, chicken and shrimp, and the former had a side hot and sour soup, and the latter an egg drop soup. The Bento Box I ordered came with a small bowl of onion soup. That wasn't impressive, to be frank. It was a small bowl with a clear broth and two tiny mushroom slices floating in it. But our friend didn't want her egg drop soup so she and I traded. She liked it. The hot and sour soup was also fine, and as for the rest of my Bento box, it was all okay. The rice and chicken were fine. I am not a sushi person, so the California rolls were surprisingly good, and the pork gyoza was tasty like a crispy sort of crab Rangoon. I didn't like the Bento Box enough to order it again, but I can see getting the Pad Thai like they had, or trying something else on the menu. Our server gave us one final smile when we asked for takeout containers when he brought a large plastic kitchen container and asked "is this big enough?" Then he pulled the normal styrofoam containers out of it.

How does this happen? You visit a local restaurant periodically and suddenly realize it has been…read moreover three years since you last updated your review. Yet indeed, I have no revelations or big reveals after revisiting this popular local haunt. The ice cream is still very good and the window service polite and capable. We also recently decided on a rare sit down meal here. We fancied some seafood for a change of pace and rather than driving a dozen or more miles away to frequent our favorite seafood restaurant, we opted to eat locally. And besides, we had tried Lakeshore's clams and scallops when we first moved here and liked them. So one of us ordered the scallop platter and the other clams (full-bellied of course). The servings were slightly smaller than at our favorite place, but also a bit less expensive, so it is a choice whether you would rather take some home for a second meal or save a few dollars in the short term. As we remembered, the food was good, so no complaints. If I push the issue, I have to say the meal didn't quite live up to the other restaurant, but that is why we have fave places, isn't it? It is only logical to occasionally test to see if others are ready to take over top spot! But there have a varied menu. And as a side note, the town of Dexter has implemented a remarkable renewal and improvement project of the neighboring beach and facilities, including building a new covered dining and activity area, which can be reserved or used more spur of the moment as available. There is a fair bit of parking , though very busy with locals and nearby camp visitors, and there are public restrooms just behind the restaurant.
