    Mixed appetizer
    Sally A.

The restaurant is large and spacious, mildly decorated.. the servers are good. The food is disappointing. We ordered the mixed appetizer, it included 2 of each of the following: 2 crab Rangoons- they were wontons with just cream cheese inside, nothing special, the chicken puffs, were also wonton wrappers with just some shredded chris chicken that was dry; chicken satay- a generous portion of chicken, but very dry and deep fried, not seasoned; the veggie spring rolls barely had anything in them, and the little in them lacked any flavor, the shrimp rolls were very also very bland; the dumplings were also in wonton wrappers and fried, the filling was good though.. the pad wooden was the most disappointing... it was glass noodles soaked in soy sauce and a bit of sugar... nothing like pad woonsen. The green curry sauce was good, but the beef in it tasted like nothing, and it only had green beans and green peppers, the rice came shaped like a heart, which was cute. The sushi is what you'd expect from thai restaurant, not fresh.. but came in a cute boat. Oh, the Tom yum soup was the best thing there, but it tasted like it came out of a can.

Food is great, service is very slow. Always expect to pick up your food 30 minutes after the time they give you.

We are so happy we stopped! This place is awesome! They have a big selection of wine and beer as well as pizza, wraps, ice cream, and baked goods! We had a blast grabbing drinks and taking pictures. They have a ton of picnic tables made from reclaimed wood for seating. They also have small fire pits and more intimate seating areas. We played corn hole, swang on the adult swing, and walked around the spacious grounds. They had a really cute moose antler photo opp! We are all from out of town so this was a real treat and we took a bunch of pictures. I could imagine having a very beautiful wedding here! I'm sure they host events. There's a big stage too where it would be so fun to see live music! 5 stars for everything here!

Upon arrival we checked in and we were taken down to the property in a pickup truck- about a 20 minute drive from the beer garden. We were very excited to pet the cows when we arrived. There were about 20 cows and we got to learn about them and then we got to go into the pasture with them. The website states that you get to pet, groom and feed the cows. Additionally, it also says that you'll be able to interact with the calves. Unfortunately, during our trip, none of these things happened. We got to pet one friendly cow and feed them through the fence - hotdog buns. It was pretty disappointing as we drove over an hour to come. The website states you will go back to the barn and interact with the calves, but that did not happen ....After we got back to the beer garden, we did have lunch that was included with the tour and the food was decent. We ordered pizzas, beer and pulled pork sandwiches. Overall I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place as the price we paid did not reflect the experience. But I will mention the owner was extremely friendly and our tour guide was knowledgeable.

Today, we hit the nail on the head. Just opened for the day we parked in front. Walked up the stairs and read the sandwich board with specials. Walked in to a cozy environment with wood accents, musical instruments on the wall, local artists work on the walls (also for sale), tiny flower vases on each table was very inviting. We chose to sit at the bar. Bartender was happy to see us and gave us specials information and told us to just holler when ready. Menu had a good variety of food I chose the chili and hubby their smash burger. Kitchen is located directly behind the bar. It is sparkling clean! The stainless steel was glowing it was so clean, I LOVE that having worked in F&B. While waiting bartender made small talk which we like, not overly sharing but enough to feel seen. Chili came with homemade cornbread that was toasted and out of this world DELICIOUS!! Chili was really good too. Not too spicy, thick with diced tomatoes, tinier peppers, and nice pieces of meat. Wowza was that good. Smash burger did not disappoint either, hubby said it's one of the best burgers he has had. They have a full display case with their homemade desserts so you can see before you buy. I was stuffed so did not take up on the offer. We did get a glance at the chef when we came in and asked the bartender to please give our compliments to the chef! Make sure to check for their hours, they open later than other places on Saturdays. They have a food truck outside, maybe they cater? Lots of outdoor seating for the nicer weather. If you are in the Western Mountains of Maine, don't drive by, stop and grab some amazing food!

There was plenty of parking, and the atmosphere was enjoyable--spacious, comfortable, and featuring an outdoor bar with live entertainment. Our waitress was attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I ordered the burger with onion rings, while my wife had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The burger was cooked perfectly, though the roll--similar to a ciabatta--was a bit too firm for a burger. The onion rings were fairly standard, likely the frozen battered kind. My wife enjoyed the flavor of her pulled pork sandwich but found the bun too soft. It almost seemed as though the rolls for our meals may have been switched. Her fries were unfortunately soggy, as if they had been sitting under a warmer. Overall, Bear Belly's offers a pleasant dining atmosphere and friendly service, though there's some room for improvement in the consistency of the food preparation.

They don't take reservations, and they don't have a waitlist you can join before arriving -- which almost deterred us since we'd been driving all day and the hangry monsters were in full effect. But we risked it and actually got seated right away. Service was great -- friendly and attentive, there just enough and exactly when you needed it. The cocktails were pretty good. I had the Proper Manhattan (Woodford Reserve whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Woodford Reserve chocolate bitters, garnished with a Luxardo maraschino cherry and orange wedge) and the Proper Pig (Crown Maple bourbon and amaretto, garnished with an orange slice and bacon). My dinner was great -- I opted for the Veggie Wedgie (house-made veggie black bean burger with fontina cheese, avocado, shredded lettuce, red onion, tomato, and a citrus chipotle aioli, served on a brioche bun), and I swapped the fries for a side salad. I also added on some mac and cheese, because you gotta be bad sometimes ;) I'd order all of it again! The others got the fried fish and fried shrimp plates and weren't as enthusiastic as I was -- they said the breading was a bit too thick. Overall, it was good, and I'd hit it up again if I'm ever back in town.

Location - Great thing about their location is there are plenty of places to kill time while waiting for your table - local shops or Waterville Creates. We were there on a Saturday and we arrived around 2:30 for an late lunch/early dinner. To our surprise, there was a 25 minute wait! It's a popular family restaurant as well. It's a lot bigger inside than it seems from the outside. When you walk in, there are mostly high tables and a long bar with seating. Walk past the bar and on the right is a dining area with a lot more tables. We had 2 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room at a center table. There were booths along the wall. Our server was so great. So patient, and kind. She was great. She checked in regularly, our drinks never went dry. The food was excellent. We had the food for take out during the pandemic and thought it was ok. Having it in the restaurant - HUGE difference. I got the cheese curd burger without the top bun. My nephew loved his chicken wings, my niece loved her mac and cheese. We all loved our burgers and my bro-in-law liked his reuben. I loved the fries, they seemed more the "chips" from the UK - which I loved. Parking - street or on the concourse below Main Street. We will definitely be back.

I'm not even sure how to describe how much flavor there was in each dish, and those truffle fries! Yum! The service was also top notch. It started with the host who apologized for the "long" wait. Haha! It was 2 minutes, if that. Our server was so kind and knowledgeable, she made dinner a pleasure, but beyond that, everyone on the floor was quick to jump if we needed anything. If there is one not-so-positive thing to say, it was the seating. Those flat board chairs are so uncomfortable, and the high-tops even more so. We accepted a high-top because that's what was available inside, (The weather was looking a bit iffy so we didn't want to eat outside) but me being on the shorter side, if the foot bar is too low, it's very uncomfortable. Luckily a small low-top became available about 10 minutes after we arrived, and thanks again to the stellar service, we were allowed to switch. It was really a minor inconvenience and next time we visit we'll know to ask for a low-top or sit at the bar with the nice padded seats. Overall it was absolutely a positive experience and we look forward to visiting again soon!

We were cold, hungry, and ready to eat. Nest more than met our expectations. We had an assortment of cocktails, cocoas, chilis, and sandwiches. I personally loved the Cubano sandwich. It is huge! I recommend sharing with a friend. It's not like a typical Cubano, but it's a fun twist. The bread was a perfect texture and the dijon mustard added great flavor. I was impressed by how well plated the food was for being on a ski mountain. Cocktails were good, but pricey. Hot cocoas were cheaper and more delicious!
