Great time at Amici's Cucina tonight for dinner with our son & his girlfriend. Fantastic service & truly liked the atmosphere of the restaurant except they need more Italian music.... Frank Sinatra. Food was good... not great for me but everyone else loved their meals. My wife and Makayla ordered a Brie Cheese appetizer and Harrison & I ordered the mozzarella in meatball appetizer. The girls enjoyed their appetizer but for me our meatball appetizer was just ok. Ceaser salad was fantastic. In terms of dinner, liked I said my Veal Parm was good... not great. Chicken Parm and Pasta Caprese were great. What I would suggest is what Harrsion had... 5 Cheese Lasagna. It literally is bigger than a brick... see photo. Harrison loved it. Burned, under seasoned... pre fab pasta. Worst Italian food ive ever eaten in my life. Not just in maine but anywhere, ever. Major red flags on the menu... the gnocchi was straight out of the freezer section. Burned butter and about an inch of oil on top of split bland sauces with no garlic or salt.. just bland. We got the stuffed focaccia and it was pesto wet mush, id be ashamed to serve that. You can tell the cook (not chef) has zero knowledge of or passion for cooking food. It's one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to in my entire life. I seriously hope you never have the misfortune of eating here. I've walked by this restaurant for years and it never looked open. We went there 5/6/25 with our neighbors. Walked right in and got a table. I immediately notice how hot it was in there. No air conditioning? Our table was in a corner. Felt crowed and uncomfortable. Our waited was amazing. Wish the food was. The bread, apps and wine were good. My dish was a "special?" It was the chicken caprese pasta dish. The chicken was cut up into small pieces. Looked like less than 1ounce of chicken. Hint of tomatoes and mozzarella. Not really much sauce. Looked like wine with a hint of tomatoes. Seemed like boxed ziti. Not much flavor and the chicken seemed microwaved. We won't be going back. My recommendations: - don't black out your windows. - let people see inside. Have some Planters and nice lights to tell them you're open. -play some nice soft music for some atmosphere. - fix your air conditioner, if you have one. - make the seating areas inviting and comfortable. - hire a new cook. This is a good spot to gather with a group of friends. The food always taste great and they treat you good.

My wife and I stopped by Amici's for some heavy apps and drinks. Even though we sat at the bar were immediately attended by one of the floor staff. I didn't catch her name but she was incredibly attentive and mixed a perfect martini. The apps were delicious and a I particularly recommend the shrimp and lobster scampi over focaccia. This place is amazing with a nice vibe. I'll be back for dinner at my next visit. read more

Pretty good "Italian" American spot. Although no homemade pasta :( when I asked the server she said the owners grandmother always made homemade pasta, but the owner said it was time consuming.... perhaps there would have been a wait on a Saturday night if the extra effort was put in? So yes I enjoyed the ciabatta bread and the soup but the pasta was overcooked the carbonara is Americanized (I mean peas in it) it literally was Alfredo so I'd say it was a step above Olive Garden. My husband had chicken Marsala flavor on point, texture however nope, pasta overcooked yet again (shocker) my daughter had chicken piccata, again pasta overcooked. I mean it's central Maine so no one knows what their missing for the most part, I however do and its called PASSION Side note we took home tiramisu delicious!!! The food was delicious. Had a seafood dish that was very well prepared with plenty of lobster and shrimp so you got a bite of seafood in every bite. Service was prompt and attentive. I had the 'Taste of Cucino' special which consisted of sample sizes of chicken parm, stuffed shells, and fetuccini allfredo. This food was definitely not made fresh in house. IIt tasted like it came from the Italian frozen food section of my local supermarket. Also, it had the texture of being microwaved. Price: way too high. The Italian Margarita was refreshingly fruity and pleasantly strong; bruschetta was literally bursting with flavor, and the fried avocado w/bang-bang sauce was fire! A must if you are in the Waterville Maine area. We were all in Waterville attending a basketball tournament at Colby. I made a reservation for 20 for Saturday 11/18 at 6:00pm. I know there can always be a little fluctuation in our total number. They checked in with me right up until a couple hours before dinner and I gave them the definitive number of 21. I don't know where to begin. This place was great. The restaurant was completely full including another large party of 23. (Our daughters team which was to our surprise because we didn't realize the college had made a reservation for them there). This restaurant nailed it! Apps, drinks and dinners. The food was all outstanding and the service was incredible. 21 of of us all got our meals within a couple of minutes of each other and every meal was hot and delicious. That is amazing work from Owner Angelo and his staff in the kitchen. Remember, the dining room was full. After dinner I saw Owner Mary and she briefly sat down with us and I conveyed our appreciation for a great dinner. A special thanks also to Kim who was our lead waitress and the others who served us. A delightful dinner the other evening. A party of four with veal the choice of all four. In every case the meal was delicious. The veal was prepared just the way it should. I think my evening started off better than it ended. Our appetizer was wonderful and our drinks, very delicious. I photographed our meals and that's when the awesomeness ended. My mahi mahi was completely overcooked. My husband could not cut his chicken. It was like rubber. My daughter in law said her meal tasted like nothing. My son... loved his lasagna. What a great atmosphere and terrific selection of Italian cuisine. The wait staff is top notch and very accommodating. We had a party of 19 with a mix of young and not so young. Honestly didn't even get a chance to eat here. I was told they were booked with reservations in which I said ok no problem. The hostess the. Proceeds to sag " you're more than welcome to sit on our couches and eat food there: just couches no tables. I found her to be rude and honestly it was insulting. We had dinner here the other night. We had a great table in a back corner so it was quiet and the four of us could catch up and not have to raise our voices to hear each other. The waitstaff was friendly and prompt and helpful with our requests. Some of us have dietary restrictions so needed some tweaks to our dinners. Hubby got the baked haddock and it came with baby carrots and roasted potatoes. He said the fish was cooked perfectly. I am currently the party pooper in the crowd, having some severe dietary restrictions, hopefully temporary and my meal consisted of a dinner size house salad and four cold scallops on top. There were only greens, a few crispy cherry tomatoes and a few slices of cucumber. Although it was arranged artfully, it just didn't seem like a dinner salad and I was pretty bummed out. The other couple enjoyed their entrees. I had looked at the menu online ahead of time to see what I would be able to have but looking over the menu at the restaurant they did not have what I was going to order. Amici's is a a pleasant surprise in downtown Waterville. it's situated in a generic looking storefront. The space is unremarkable. The waitstaff were very nice. They were patient and unflustered despite it being a busy weekend at Colby College. We were served good bread and olive oil upon being seated. The wine list was reasonably priced and good. We shared a bunch of above average appetizers, including grilled sausages, bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms. I had a special dinner entree, which was essentially fettucine alfredo topped with an assortment of seafood. The pasta was a little bit overcooked, but otherwise OK. The veal saltimbocca was very good, as was the chicken Mona Lisa. We were a big group and stayed longer than we were supposed to and therefore didn't get a chance to try dessert. Overall a good restaurant with cheerful service and moderate prices that is a real asset to Waterville. read more

Sorry, but the food is not very good. One dish,chicken parmigiana, was pounded way to thin and almost burned. Very little chicken flavor. I brought it to the waitresses attention she apologized and took the plate away. My dish was ok not great.We had desert got the check, which included the chicken parm and left. Having grown up Italian-American very few italian restaurants can deliver, this one was OK, but.. I ordered shrimp fra d'avlo the shrimp were tuff (overcooked) and a bit old tasting the sauce was really good though. Service was good, not great. read more

The ambiance in Amici's is very nice. The marinara sauce is very good here. If you don't believe me, you can ask for a sample of it before eating. Delicious warm bread along with oil and an assortment of seasonings. The highlight of my party's meal was the house salad. Their blue cheese dressing was to die for. Amici's Cucina is fantastic! The food is delicious, but their customer service is what gets them the 5 star status. I've been to Amici's quite a few times during my 18 months living in Waterville, each time the owner, Mary is there working her tail off. She and each member of her staff share the same work ethic- and it really shows. I took my notoriously difficult grandmother there to eat while she was visiting and our waitress went above and beyond for her. (My grandmother is the type to grill the server with inane questions, send stuff back and then complain about the bill -BIG EYE ROLL-) I've used Amici's for a client's rehearsal dinner, again, Mary and her staff went above and beyond. The atmosphere was very nice. My Wife and I were seated in the bar as we didn't want to wait for the other section. The reason for the dinner was it was my wife's birthday and I wanted to take her somewhere we haven't been before and I know she likes Italian so it was a win-win. Overall the food was slightly okay at best and the wait was pretty bad, however I really just wanted to enjoy the conversation with my date for the evening so I was okay with it during the moment. The food was hot and wasn't warmed over and late to be served to us. The only bad thing I will say is that for the price it was pretty simple of an entree. I ordered the veal Simbitacco I believe. Pretty much veal in a sweet sauce with prosciutto smothered in cheese. I also ordered it with penne pasta and a house salad. The salad was very tasty, however I was very disappointed in the penne pasta, I was sort of expecting a homemade pasta for the price, not some store bought pasta that was lightly covered in the sauce from the rest of my meal. Overall it was a simple meal. Not to say it wasn't a tasty meal, just not what I was expecting for the price. During our experience the drinks were more than strong enough to keep us talking through the night as each of our drinks were STRONG! I really appreciate the strength of the drinks as for the price I felt I was getting my money's worth per sip. Lastly the dessert was very decadent. They came out to show what they had to offer instead of showing you a description and hoping you'll like it. My wife and shared the raspberry cheesecake (my ultimate weakness!!) from the first bite I was everything but disappointed with my dessert. Full of richness and big enough for me to share and enjoy still. The bill was about what I expected for the evening. I can't complain one bit about the atmosphere and if you are bringing a special someone out for a date or just want to enjoy a nice Italian meal then please stop in, I'm sure they will get faster as they get more business. Shout out to the owner and staff at a locally owned restaurant. My daughter recently got married and we had booked rehearsal dinner for 30 people. I woke up Friday morning experiencing heavier than normal allergy symptoms. After waiting two years to let covid calm down, this Mother of the Bride tested positive. Fortunately, I had very mild symptoms, and being an outside wedding, with a few tweaks (my own personal 10 x 10 tent) we could make adjustments for the wedding itself. But, I was so sad I would not be able to attend rehearsal dinner inside at Amici's. My daughters suggested I call Mary the owner to see if they could do take-out. With an eight hour notice, Amici's happily and expertly prepared dinner for 30 people to go. Every item was absolutely delicious as we all spread out on the lawn of our wedding venue. Amazing Italian food! From the calamari to the parmisian. Watch the picatta unless your a huge fan of lemon but just wonderful. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and was there when we needed.
