We were rally impressed by the soft opening of Kukje Bakery. The cases were stocked and the staff was kind. They didn't have coffee working yet but they sold delicious Korean coffees in the refrigerator. We got a huge but dry kouign amman. Not great. We got a crème brûlée cream bun that was good. We got a delicious garlic cream cheese bun. We loved it. The texture of the bread was amazing but the garlic cream cheese was sweet and we wished it wasn't. We loved the sausage bread. However so good! We would definitely go again.

Came here around 2:45 PM and about 85% of the pastries were already sold out, which probably says a lot about how popular this bakery is. The sweet potato croissant immediately caught my eye, so I had to try it. The flavor combination was definitely interesting. The croissant itself was light, puffy, and crispy with a subtle salty balance instead of a heavy buttery flavor. The sweet potato whipped cream was light and mildly sweet, which I liked. The first couple bites were honestly the best, but after that it started to feel a little heavy for me because there was a bit too much cream inside. Otherwise, it would've been close to perfect. Customer service was great, and the bakery itself is spacious with a nice, comfortable setting. I'd definitely come back to try more items, just make sure to come early if you want the full selection. :)

Hubby and I dropped in Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm. There were a few items sold out but still plenty to select from. I asked the person behind the counter what were some good selling items and bought some based on her input - * got the last bread cream bread - shaped like a hot dog bun and stuffed with white cream. Sweet and a little savory. Hubby & I thought somewhat weird. Maybe it grows on you. * twice baked almond croissant - lots of almond paste. * cinnamon apple scone - great with a cup of coffee. My first bite included apple piece. * red bean bun - plenty of red bean. The pastries were all good size. Plenty of inventory yesterday. Soft opening. Lot parking and street metered parking alongside.

The parking lot is small and busy, but I'm so glad I stopped by this bakery after dropping off clothes at the dry cleaners! They have a fantastic selection of baked goods--the crème brûlée donut, strawberry cream croissant, and matcha scones were all absolutely delicious. They also have coffee, cakes, and plenty of other options. Even though it was a preview, the staff was incredibly fast and efficient. The noise level inside was moderate and it felt very homey. I can't wait for their official grand opening!

The cashier at the Kukje supermarket suggested I come by. Especially since it was the soft opening. I strolled on over and popped in. The outside is nice and upon walk in you can tell they were newly opened. It was a bit of unorganization but it is to be expected for a soft launch. They were stocking the tables and display cases with tasty treats. Plenty of customers inside. It was very clean. They are hiring from all the signage. I grabbed a couple of treats and got a latte. The treats were amazing but the latte not so much. I'll definitely comeback to see the progress and get more tasty treats. Oh and the pricing is a little up there.

The popular Beef Croquette's potato stood out (then onion, carrot, cabbage, egg) and the beef filling is not overwhelming, so worth a try. The Red Bean Bun is good with plenty of filling. The Cream Cheese Puff is also good. The Kouign-amann tastes like elsewhere but is bigger in size. The Anko Donut is like a sugar dusted beignet, better than the average sugar donut. The Strawberry Jam Donut is a crusty twist and surprisingly not very sweet. The Matcha Drink is unsweetened and they will ask if you want sugar. New and still in soft opening mode. Go around 10am for many available items; earlier is sparse or sold out from the opening rush. The prices are on the higher end for pastries but are on par with similar bakeries. Unsure if worth going out of the way for but definitely stop by if in the area. Plenty of parking in the plaza's private lot. Not immediately off 280 but it is on Junipero Serra Blvd (i.e., exit John Daly Blvd if southbound; exit Eastmoor Ave if northbound).

The wait is finally over ! Kukje bakery finally opened this spring. This is located at the old Jade Dragon restaurant. The bakery is actually smaller than what I've imagined but they made it work. When you first walk in the seating will be in your left hand side and the bakery on the right. You have the option of picking up what's already made and packaged or getting in line to have someone served the larger pastries for you. When I arrived most of their prepacked items were already sold out. So I decided to stand and line to get the larger and more expensive pastries. Nh neighbor actually got us tsoek pastries in their first opening weekend. They got us the Anko donut donut(red bean) and the almond pastry. I actually liked both of them. The Anko donut was jammed backed with red bean paste and surprisingly it wasn't too sweet. The almond croissant was also packed with almond paste, and it was very flaky. When I got there, I didn't feel like anything sweet so I ended up getting the cinnamon scone, which was more sweet then I wanted and the salt bread. The salt bread was my favorite as it reminded me of a bread I had as a child. It looks plain and simple but I couldn't stop eating it. There was something about this bread that was addicting. I hope that that will have ore savory options or maybe I went a time whee some items were sold out. I also hope the next time I'm here I can try their coffee. They had some cakes available for about $34.00. I would won't the try it first before buying a whole cake. In the future, I hope we can buy it by the slice.

I'll grade easier since they're still in their soft opening phase. Their bread lineup needs to be packed by their employees so there'll be a wait for that. The bread tastes a bit sweeter than my liking and the line moved a bit slower than expected. Employees weren't particularly friendly and didn't recommend anything considering this is a new bakery. I'd return if in the area.

Excited to see the Kukje bakery finally opened up where Jade Dragon use to be. Located across from Kukje supermarket. Cakes and pastries looked delicious and nicely presented behind a partition on the right side. We ordered the following: Kouign Aman $6.50 (3/5) - Tasted like bread and lacked the buttery flaky caramelized crunchy exterior expected from this pastry. Mocha bun $3.50 (4/5) - This dome shaped bread had a slightly sweet mocha center. Ham & Cheese $7.50 (3/5) - Had 3 layers of ham but not cheesy enough. Beef croquet $6.50 (3/5) - Had a thick exterior and underwhelming beef center. Overall, I expected gourmet pastries for the price point but it was not the case. However, It's a nice coffee and pastry shop to meet up with friends. Friendly staff and with plenty of parking outside.

Korean Salt Bread ($4.50) - Dry, hollow with no crispy bottom.

**** Salt Bread Review ***** If Kukje's salt bread was the first one I've ever tried, I'll wonder WTF are people smokin' - Because how is this "viral"?! Sadly, Kukje's salt bread is the least fav one I've tried - it's just a dry, hollow crescent roll with sea salt sprinkled on top. Not rich and buttery....just dry. While golden, the bottom is not crispy as it should be and the interior is not fluffy. Air-frying it didn't improve it. Stick with microbakeries for salt bread. I know it's the soft opening but $4.50 is kinda ridic for the quality when 85 degrees' rendition is half the price (does the job for the price). Unfortunately around 1:30 pm, Kukje Bakery's shelves and items behind the glass were sparse/near empty. No other savory options left. There were some tarts, lots of cookies, bread loaves, and several whole cakes. Based on what was left and some labels, most items leaned more traditional like red bean buns, cream buns, and castella cakes. Most items had no labels or prices so the poor staff had to keep repeating themselves over and over again to inquiring customers. Ordered several sweet items which I gave away. I was told their strawberry jam donut ($4.50) had no jam filling...just a plain donut twist with strawberry glaze and crumbles. Not sure about the other buns because there was no feedback. Three stars for now - will give them several months to settle down and try again! P.S. - There's a handful of tables for seating.

Given the bakery's close proximity to my home, I have been back multiple times. I usually try one or two products at a time. I like that there is always something new to try whenever I visit; however, if I'm being honest, I have yet to find a product I would call a favorite. The products are not bad--they are average in terms of flavor, but above average when it comes to aesthetics.

Was super excited to check out Kukje Bakery, only to find that there was barely anything left by the time I arrived around 10:30 in the morning. There were only a few options remaining, so I ended up trying the cream custard bun, which was pretty mediocre honestly. The ambience was cute though, and the location is pretty convenient.

Just checked out the new bakery across the street from the store and it's so cute inside. It gives a cozy neighborhood vibe, almost reminds me of an Asian-style 85 degree bakery with its variety of pastries, cakes, and dessert. The seating area was nice, everything looked fresh, and the staff were all welcoming. I loved seeing some unique pastries and flavors you don't always find elsewhere. A few items did feel a little on the pricier side. Some pastries were around $7.50 for a croissant but the presentation and specialty feel definitely stood out. Excited to see what else they add as they continue opening and expanding their menu.

I am so in love with the tea here, it tastes exactly the way I like it. I love how they use the teapresso machine to brew the tea leaves which makes the flavor stronger. Their ordering system is entirely via two kiosks, which can be annoying if the customers ahead are slow, ordering a bunch of drinks, or both. They really should have a policy for cashiers handling smaller orders (2-3 drinks or less) and forcing kiosks only for larger groups. The estimated wait times vary pretty wildly, so take their posted estimates with a grain of salt. It stated 15-20 minutes when I was there, but it took about 25 (and we were just the 2nd group in line, though there were clearly tons of queued orders already with people standing around or sitting waiting). When we finally got our drinks, the Classic Ding Dong Oolong Milk Tea and the Milk Tea with Taro Balls and Taro Paste, I was expecting really prominent tea flavor like you get from the best milk teas in Taiwan and HK, especially given their hand-brewing process for each cup (which partly explains why wait times balloon). Sadly, I got very little tea flavor from either drink. That said, the fresh taro paste and taro balls were very tasty, with the balls having fantastic QQ chewiness. Prices are a bit much though, at almost $10 for that drink alone. I honestly think they could cut costs on gimmicks like the rope carriers (cute for influencers, but pretty useless and likely jacks up the price for regular customers). One silver lining from the long wait is that we spilled over into a free tea tasting slot. Miranda was fantastic as our guide as she was super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. She walked us through how their Lishan Oolong Tea (sold separately, not used for in-store drinks) is harvested and sun-baked into 5 different varietals, each with unique colors, aromas, and tastes (and following the sun both literally and figuratively in terms of names and descriptors). Overall, it's a fun experience if you enjoy that sort of thing (and your wait happens aligns with a tasting slot or you can always a reserve ahead of time as well), so 5 stars for Miranda and the tasting, but the actual milk teas were lacking and a disappointment given the hype, cost and wait.

The drink took about 25-30 minutes to be prepared so don't come in a hurry!! I inserted the straw into the bottom of my cup and sucked. Nothing came out. I had to suck with more strength, due to the thick consistency of the drink. Finally, a gelatinous, slimy and sort of sweet substance came out of the tip of the straw. You do have to work for it due to the thickness of the drink, it's not liquidy. The actual matcha had a strong and smooth taste but to be honest was a little too concentrated which made it a bit astringent. This drink was truly a journey for the mouth. Usually a drink is about taste but this one was much more about tactility, or at least that's how it felt. Unfortunately the substance seemed to leave a strange metallic, unpleasant aftertaste that lasted for quite a while after finishing the drink. Texture: interesting taste:2.5 , it was new to me but i wouldn't have it again aftertaste : gross The next drink ordered was some sort of blue mango coconut concoction. The real problem was the radio of (balls + substance) : drink... way too high! i barley had any sips that had more drink then texture additives. They cleaned up pretty quickly as well when a table was finished. I wanted something a bit light so I opted for: 1) American Omelette(6.5/10)(~$12) - A decent and light breakfast plate. The omelette was a thin egg omelette a bit of a departure from your usual diner fare. The ham wasn't diced either, it was just 1-2 deli sliced ham placed in between with your choice of cheese(provolone, cheddar or swiss). For sides, you can either get a salad or potatoes. It was an okay pupusa; I ordered the chorizo one....but couldn't really find it in the pupusa when I got home. Just refried beans. It was freshly made though since it took awhile to get it. The pupusas aren't on the menu in the cafe, but it is written on the board outside. It came with a bag of mild salsa and a bag veggies on the side. Overall, I've had better pupusas on the Mission and would skip this. A decent neighborhood spot to grab a quick bite if in the area!
