First time at any Krystal's. So can't tell you how this one is compared to others but this was not the cleanest looking place to eat. Nor was it the cheapest. I spent $10 on breakfast for not a lot of food. Also if you eat with your eyes you will be grossed out because this is NOT a pretty breakfast. One of the lesser great debates of our age has been the Krystal vs. White Castle question. After decades of occasionally reading some puff piece or other on the topic, I am finally in a position to weigh in. While I was unable to view the prep process, the differences between the two chains are immediately obvious. At Krystal, the grind of beef used is more coarse, giving their sandwich a chewy bite that is utterly absent from a White Castle slider. The bun, perhaps different in some otherwise barely quantifiable way, is not steamed (or at least that was the case here), so it retains more heft and breadiness like you might associate with a traditional hamburger. This is diametrically opposed to the mushier, soggier output from their so-called competitor, although I don't think the two so much compete as face off across a border. Because of this, and the similarly small scale of the patty, the cheese - if selected - does not melt. It just sits there looking and tasting like it was purchased and issued by the government in 1978. Krystal tops their burgers with yellow mustard, a pickle slice, and small slivers of raw onion. White Castle, of course, uses ketchup and grilled onions. The result, I think, is best summarized this way: though they share a similar calorie count, with Krystal's being microscopically higher, I can eat six White Castle cheeseburgers in a sitting. I may regret doing so, but I can and usually do. I was only able to eat four Krystals with cheese in one shot, and that was the foundation of the ultimate revelation - which I will share in a moment. The first and perhaps even the eighth bite of a Krystal tasted better to me, with a hint of flame grilled aspect somehow imparted that is surely the product of artifice. The remainder were somewhat forced; I was full, and I was bored, wishing I had ordered tots or some chicken thing. White Castles are consumed like *someone who isn't me* might liken to cocaine: a little makes you want a lot more, and trust me - nobody ever wished they had those tragic, wilted, undercooked fries. So here's my revelation. Because the Krystal bun is not steamed, after it sits for a bit, it becomes stale. If they are not fresh, they are terrible. Repugnant. Worthy of discarding, because they are not worth the effort to swallow. Any White Castle connoisseur knows the joys of grabbing a burger from a room temperature Crave Case after it has been sitting on a counter for five hours, and that is the very real difference between these two second-tier titans. The first Krystal claims the battle; the sixth White Castle wins the war. So, if you're not a disgusting fatbody POS glutton like me, Krystal takes the crown. It feels healthier, and probably is because less of this sort of food is more. More energy, more... actual lifespan, in all likelihood. On the other hand, if you drink alcohol, smoke weed, simply cannot control your appetites, eat slowly, or buy food in advance of its immediate need, White Castle is the one true way. Did this help? One thing I can say is that forming an opinion is better than accepting someone else's, even if you have to fly elsewhere to do so. Again something that I love to do is give a fast food place a good shout out. Krystal is a place with cheap and small products. The food can be great at times especially at this location where they are friendly a help you put your order together right and affordable. So many specials and mail box coupons come from Krystal that you can't pass up the deals when on a budget.I grew up in The Bronx and we had White Castle instead,for those who know of it, if not google it bro! This krystal location is clean all the time and the staff appearance is on point,meaning clean and neat looking. A self serve fountain is here and drive thru is pretty smooth and mostly fast when i'm in it. Stop by for some fresh and hot food and some friendly smiles. read more

Staff seems distracted or short staffed. I'm not one to complain considering I've worked in food and beverage for 8 years. However, I waited in the drive thru for 15+ minutes and then I got told my order was $51 dollars for a 12 burger with cheese mean and 6 mini chicken sandwiches with cheese. I didn't even get fries with either meal.. I really like Krystal's but I don't know if I would come back to this location. read more

Don't eat here if you have food allergies. They treat it like it's a joke. The employees are not educated on what products on their menu contain the allergens or if it's safe to eat certain things. They will basically laugh at you if you ask. read more

I am so glad I read that travel blog about the battle of White Castle vs. Krystal. I had no clue there was anything close to my beloved "What You Crave" sliders from back home. I would frequent a 24 hour location not too far from the highway on my way home far too many times...gave me my fat stage in my 20's. And having lived so far from home for so many years, there was a definite empty spot in my heart/stomach that was slider shaped and missing a pickle. If I wasn't allergic to a major ingredient in burgers, I'd be here every friggin' day trying to best the prior days record. I love the variety of the little burgers. I can have as many different types of little burgers without feeling too guilty AND a side of chili fries without getting overwhelmed or bored. The little sliders remind me of a heartier White Castle slider but with mustard. It just saves me a step and the bun here holds the fries I wedge underneath the top bun better. Brilliant! I'm so happy there's a place in the South that helps me feel more at home. If they'd just add grape Nehi, we'd be all good. read more

It's no White Castle (not talking about the frozen store ones) but it's a solid second. A few of us got a box full with cheese to split two different times last week on a few late nights. Both times they were hot, fresh, perfectly dressed, and correctly sleeved which is a vast improvement over some of my Krystal experiences at other locations like mustard oozing out and smushed sideways burgers in their sleeves. All these were perfect both times with warm, soft, fresh buns. There were ample napkins as well that she handed us so they wouldn't get soggy in the box. lol you would think that "just meat, cheese, ketchup and bun" would be easy to follow. Instead, my dogs (who just got their shots and deserved a treat) got onions, pickles, mustard, cheese, meat, and buns. Onions are toxic to dogs. I didn't realize these people were so inept that they couldn't make an order right (I'm a vegetarian, I have no reason to taste and see) and I didn't realize that there were onions on these until the last one. If my dogs get sick, you'll be paying the vet bills. Learn to do the order right. I won't be back. You're lucky I'm not doing a charge back. read more
