I went there for a chili cheese dog and they did not disappoint. It was a delicious dog with zero complaints from me; hot where it was supposed to be and not soggy. The fries were awesome too. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a good amount of seasoning. The staff were so friendly and accommodating I was simply impressed almost speechless. These two things together were worth a 6 in my book if only the restaurant was clean. And it was, but unfortunately I can't do 6 stars on this platform. Been wanting to try this place out for a minute, the rest of my family tried this place out multiple times while I was overseas for work and heard nothing but great things about it. I had the opportunity stop by and test it out while I was in the area with my daughter and this place has a great small town diner feel that I haven't witnessed in a long time. Roller skates on the wait staff are a cool addition, but I completely understand if they decide against it (as someone who cannot roller skate at all!). And so here in the Augusta area, we have Sno-Cap. Famous for 1) being around for 60 years and 2) being visited by the one and only Taylor Swift early in her career. The quality food and ambience attract me on a regular basis, but a big draw is also the monthly burger and shake special. And this last time, it was a big one! Bacon pimento cheese is exactly what it sounds like, delicious. I ordered that with a large fry (warning: that was a lot of fries). I realized I had neglected their sweet tea so that accompanied my usual water. And of course I finished it all off with the monthly shake, peach (you don't have to ask, large with whipped cream and a cherry on top). There are few times I have walked away from a meal acknowledging that I was completely full AND it was a perfect overall pairing. This was one of those times. I always heard great things about this place so I decided to stop by since I was downtown. I ordering was pretty quick and the attendant was nice. I ordered the bacon cheesy with onion rings. This was one of the best burgers I have had in a longtime. It was seasoned well, the cheese was melted, and the toppings were fresh. The only thing I was disappointed in were the onion rings. They were greasy, with no flavor, and some of them weren't cooked all the way through (when I broke it apart there was uncooked powdery breading that fell out). I've been curious about this place after living in Augusta for 5 years, but I have never gone. It's probably because I saw it as a more vintage version of a Sonic Drive-In, and it did not have many Yelp reviews at the time. But a couple of days ago, one of my friends invited me to go with her to lunch, and I took her up on the offer. It was actually a fantastic place, and definitely one of the best local burger joints I have been to in the area. The service was attentive, even if it was a little slow due to the place's popularity. We were also a party of 5, so we had a lot of orders to make, so it made sense that it would take time to fulfill our orders. But man, when the food came out, it was so worth it. I ordered the Smokehouse burger with a beef patty, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup, pickles, and jalapeños. The bun's bread was fluffy, flavorful, and buttery, but not too buttery. The beef quality is locally sourced, but I can't attest to its quality because the toppings overpowered its flavor. The vegetables were so crisp and fresh. The only complaint I have is that the slaw made the burger leak liquid a little bit, but that's fine. Next time, I'll just ask for no slaw. The burger was also huge. I have a small mouth, but I can normally bite fine on burgers from fast food chains like the Big Mac and the Whopper. But I had to smush this burger down and cut it to properly fit bites into my mouth. Definitely a good value for the money. The fries were great, super crunchy on the outside but steaming and fluffy on the inside. Well seasoned too, I didn't need ketchup to enjoy them! This is the definition of a perfect fry to me. They reminded me of fries from Laziza Mediterranean Kitchen. I thought that was the only place I could find fries like this, and I am overjoyed to find another place that made fries this delicious. And the root beer float was amazing as well. The root beer itself was refreshing, and the ice cream was dense and creamy. It reminded me more of frozen custard than your regular everyday ice cream. I think the ratio of ice cream to root beer is a little high, but that's just up to preference. I might order it again if I felt like I wanted a dense dessert-type drink, but that is not very often. But if that's your style, this is one of the best floats I have ever had. Definitely better than coke floats from Cook Out. Best part? I only paid 15 dollars for the meal, plus a 2-3 dollar tip. They were courteous to ask if we wanted to switch from the bar to the booth which we happily accepted. The server also knocked off our root beer floats off the bill because of the wait time for our food. So why the 3... maybe like a 2.5/5? Really, it just comes down to the food. I had a bacon cheeseburger which was dry and no flavor. The onion rings were okay, but I wanted them crispier. I also feel like I've gotten a better value elsewhere for what I paid. Oh Sno-Cap is so much fun!! The restaurant is an old time drive in diner. Like Sonic, except this place opened in 1964 and still feels like the real deal. We ordered two burgers and an order of onion rings. The food was good! Much better than I expected! The beef is sourced locally!! The other burger was a veggie burger! They toasted the buns. Everything came out hot!!! We were very pleased. It's not just fast food. Also, given COVID-19 restrictions, this was a great (and safe) night out. We stayed in our cars, our server came to the window wearing a mask (all staff was wearing masks) and we enjoyed our meal in the open air with our windows rolled down. Super cute mom and pop retro diner. The service here definitely embodies southern hospitality. I didn't use the drive on portion of the diner, which seems kind of like the point. However, calling in an order made me feel like an ass, so I just went into the sit in area. The interior of the diner has a very all-American feel. The food is pretty good. I just got the standard burger and fries but they have other sandwiches and wraps. I definitely want to come back and try a shake. It has a very homey small town vibe to It and kind of reminds me of the chocolate shoppe that's the main hang out spot in the show Riverdale. Such an adorable vintage spot that just got a fresh makeover from a big time food family. We went on a Friday night around 6:30, and since the weather was perfect chose to sit outside. There were several servers milling around and I think all three spoke to us and let us know they would be right with us. We got drinks quickly, and then took a few minutes to peruse the menu. I settled on the Bacon Cheesy and my husband had the loaded chili dog. Everything was really good. I got a lot of bacon on my burger and all the parts making up the burger were spot on! Locally sourced bread, meat, etc. I LOVE THAT. Husband said the chili dog was also excellent and the fries were right too- not over or under cooked. Had a belated Mother's Day lunch here today and it was not just a good time spent with momma it was a solid dining experience. I had the Pizza Burger Special with onion rings and a root beer float. The burger was unique and I'm sure it will become a Special again but it's not a amazing enough to be a regular menu item. The onion rings unfortunately were frozen inventory but they were good enough. The root beer float was delicious as always in that frosted mug and that refill was a perfect finish to the meal.
