Nothing fancy but when you want a variety of fast food Cookout might be a good option. While it's located on a road with probably 10 other fast food places I generally opt for cookout because of the mix and match trays....you can sometimes get 2 meals out of it. My go to tray is the spicy chicken sandwich with chicken nuggies (3 pieces) and honey mistard chicken wrap (half a wrap) and I'll add on the side of onion rings. Onion rings are fried to perfection. I love that you can add a milkshake to sub for your drink for a little extra on the days you want dessert or you can get a float. The milkshakes are thick and they have some many flavors including seasonal ones. My order has never been wrong at this location and service is usually pretty fast. read more

Based on my dietary restrictions there isn't much that I can eat at Cook Out but what do you do when you're in Augusta after 10pm on a friday night and you haven't eaten dinner??? You go to one of the 3 Cook Outs that's open until 4:30 am. This location looks fairly new and they have two drive through lanes which helps with the wait time on a busy night, they also have a walk up window where you can place a to go order. I ordered a milk shake and fries. I have to say there milkshakes are pretty good and they have a huge flavor selection; i ordered a strawberry cheesecake. My large frie looked more like a small or medium so that was a little disappointing. The cajun seasoning was a nice addition so if you like flavor don't forget to request it. This restaurant location has really slid down hill. Last month I went there, and they messed up the order. Today I went there, they messed it up even more. While we were ordering the employee had difficulty hearing our order. He repeated it several times incorrectly. When we arrived at the pick up window and it opened, we could hear loud sounds of laughter and joviality inside. No wonder the person could not hear our order properly. Our chocolate shakes were not properly blended. They were vanilla shakes with chocolate syrup partially mixed. They also did not put in enough chocolate syrup as we are adding some extra here at home. They did not put the onion rings in our bag. This same mistake was made last month. Not my favorite location to go to in Augusta. Quality of food and service could be much better. I typically get chicken quesadillas and the other locations in the area get it right - at this location however, the cheese is never melted enough and the bottled water is never cold. Recently, my girlfriend went there to order an unsweet tea and was given a sweet tea - but even more upsetting, the lid was dirty! I am giving this restaurant 2 stars because,at least 3times I order the barbecue with 2 sides.The food was great.But my sides onion rings 3 about the size of a silver dollar,and the cheddar bits 4 pieces over cooked.At one time this place was my go to at least once a week .Now I don't have the patience or time to check my meal.Instead or calling it the barbecue with 2sides,it should be called barbecue with 2 tastes.Each time I have to go back through the line and order an additional side.The cost increased and portion decreased.I will continue to purchase from this restaurant,but not as often,food is good,but small sides. read more

I'm a fan of new businesses and this one is a fairly new business to the Augusta area. It recently opened about 2 weeks ago and business has been booming!!! I pass by here often and they are normally swamped with drive-thru and walk up customers. I have eaten here about 3 times in the last week or so and I see why they are always busy. The food is pretty darn good and the prices are some that you can't beat for a good hamburger.I like the Out West style hamburger. It has bacon, pickles, onions, barbecue sauce, and cheese on it. Their burgers taste like they came from off of a grill. I guess that's where they get their name from. Their fries are really good to me. They have the right amount of crispiness on the outside and the right amount of softness in the inside. I also like their milkshake menu as well. They call them their Fancy milkshakes. They have at least 40 selections to choose from. My favorite right now is the Peach Cobbler milkshake. It has peaches and peach cobbler crust in it. It is so delicious, and it's a really thick consistency so be aware that you can't quite suck it through a straw right off hand. You may want to let it sit for a bit and melt before you can devour it. They have hotdogs, corndogs, chicken sandwiches, wraps, and many other items. I plan on trying more of the items on the menu to see if they are as good as the items I have tried already. I am already a fan of theirs and I love that they don't close until 4:10am each night. Worst customer service I've experienced in Augusta. I ordered two cookout trays through the drive thru and only received one. I asked the young lady working if she rang up the other tray and she responded "get back in line" rather than let me re-order and pay on the spot. Me and my husband went there at about 12 ish for his lunch break. I ask for slaw Texas Pete bbq sandwich with bbq sauce on side. They forgot the bbq sauce which luckily I checked for Bc this location is known to miss up an order. Sure enough no bbq sauce. I didn't think to check the sandwiches. When I did no slaw, go figure. The cost is unbeatable unless you are really at a cookout and the food is free. The name is cute... Cook Out so they give you a lot of food and a variety. You can choose a menu item for the entree or you can do a box combo- where you can pick from several entrees, two sides and a drink ALL FOR $4.69. I did the box... of course--- I had a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, fries and a milkshake... Now the milkshake increases the prices SLIGHTLY. They have 30 varieties of milkshakes... I wanted to try Watermelon because I heard it was excellent BUT it is seasonal to the summer and it is winter... darn. Anwyho, what is interesting-- for the two sides... they have other entrees available... such as quesadila, wrap, chicken nuggets, corn dog etc-- and of course real sides like fries, cole slaw etc. The milkshake was pretty good. I had the banana split-- tasted just like a banana split... had walnuts, real pineapple chunks etc. Very similar to Sonic's choices but in my opinion-- was better quality as they had several pieces of the fruit in their shakes. You can't eat in. You can either drive up or walk up to the window. Staff was very nice. I was intrigued with this place- as my aunt stated that she use to go to the original location in Greensboro, NC. And from there this place has taken off. I got the feeling that this place was privately owned and not franchised... I did a little researching and found this to be true! Wow. This location is drive-through only. There is a location on Washington and I-20 that is dine-in. Since Cook Out's in Georgia only popped up after I had moved to NYC, I never got to try it until this past week. I've been curious about the insane amount of flavors of milkshakes they have and decided to get one instead of my regular Chickfila strawberry shake. It's $2.79 + tax for a fairly large, sharable milkshake. They give you a spoon and a straw.... and you mostly need the spoon because this thing is basically like a Dairy Queen Blizzard. I even turned it upside-down and it didn't budge. While my sister swears by the Hi-C flavored milkshake (how interesting...) I got the Mint Oreo milkshake. Plenty of Oreos, great base vanilla flavor - just not enough mint. I'll have to try the cheap food and other milkshake flavors when I'm back in town. read more

Really cool spot to grab some good inexpensive lunch! My teen is trying to work at one! The menu can be a little confusing at first glance, but it gives great directions at the top, what I like is that before you move up to the order window, there is window that allows you to look at what you want and then move forward. There are two drive thru lines that keeps the lines going! I love the milkshakes, make sure you get a spoon, the straw is a joke! The burgers and onion rings are my favorite, and I can't forget you can get it all under $5 (milkshake is extra). It is open 24 hours and it is good when you are out late and you don't have time to wait at the Waffle House! They do have a walk up window(don't know if that is open 24 hrs), a lot of people used it during the lunch hour when I was there! The staff at this cook out is always fast and friendly. The food is always hot and tastes great! I seriously do not know of any other establishment that is this quick AND produces delicious HOT food consistently. Not to mention, the tea is delicious as well. Cook Out is Here! One merely has to check out the empty parking lots of every other fast food restaurant on Walton Way to know this place has taken Augusta by storm. The NC originated chain has lots of things right...Free toppings (as long as you are not selecting Cheese, tomato, lettuce or bacon...) and the value priced box meal for under $5. Styrofoam phobics probably should stay away! There is no chance of not having styrofoam around your meal. But in their defense, the box is smaller than most. So lets talk food. There are some slam dunks for this little burger joint and I would like to list a few of our family favorites. The buns are warm, fresh and almost stand up to the impressive double burger with all toppings. Burgers. Thick and fresh tasting. Good Ice. I repeat... Cook Out has good Ice. Chicken Wrap- ranch. yum. Shakes- Chocolate Malt. Be sure they add the malt. Fries or Onion Rings. hot. Fresh and just the right amount of firmness and salt. So here is how a couple (without adding cheese, lettuce and tomato cause we have that in the fridge at home) can get out of Cook out for around $11. We order 2 boxed meals (reg. 4.79) and had them pile on freebies to our double burger. (YES, they will give you raw and grilled onions- but you may have to repeat that request 3 times) On one tray we order Double burger, onion rings or fries and a chicken wrap. Beverage is included. On second order- another double burger- two chicken wraps -ranch and a enhanced beverage (shake) adding $1 to our meal. My advice before you go to the Augusta location, pull up the menu and study it for a few minutes. (you will have less stress in the bizarre drive-thru). Be Patient.It looks like there are 20 employees standing in the front of the restaurant and it still takes the 3 guys in the back 5-10 to get your grub together. Check your bag before you head home. No inside seating at this location, so you won't have the chance to make sure they got your order right until you are too far to care. (probably saving sit down location for future Evans store- creepy but most likely true). FYI, if you dont want heart disease, this should be an every other month excursion. For fast food, this is it. There aren't many of these in Georgia yet but if they are all like this I will be returning. Quality food and quality service. I had 2 hot dogs cook out style with fries and a drink. All of the toppings on the dogs were exceptional. I've had other fast food dogs and burgers that had close to rotten onions but these were crisp and full of flavor. I could even taste the charring on the dogs which I really love. Fries were delicious but didn't quite have enough seasoning, but that is something you experience with any fast food place. Disappointing. My burger was not cooked all the way through. The place is huge... but there is no seating. I was asked three times while standing in line 'where is the entrance' and of course there is none. It is a walk up or drive through restaurant. They also have drive thru. While waiting for our food I watched a bumblebee hovering next to us. Amazingly it remained hovering in front of the window for probably 30 minutes. A guy next to me tried to swat it. I quickly asked him not to do that. A bumblebee will not sting you, UNLESS you swat at him. Well, the bee must have liked the smells wafting out of the window. This is the second time I have come away from the Cook Out on Walton Way in Augusta, Ga with a bad enough experience to cause me to want to let someone know that there is a problem there. The first time was several months ago when there was a stench of rotting food at the pick up window. Well, today as I waited in the drive through and had my window down with my arm resting on my car door, I noticed some strange brown substance on my arm. I wiped it off wondering what it might be, as I wiped it off. It took longer than usual to get my order after which I returned to my work place to eat my meal. As I drove away from CO I noticed strange brown spots on my windshield. When I arrived at my work place I was able to rinse down my car which was covered with brown greasy spots. This grease came from the the exhaust on the store, I assume, because it was on my arm which was only exposed to the outdoors while I waited in line at the store. To top this off, I wanted to try a different side dish with my meal. So, I tried the chili. THAT IS THE MOST AWFUL excuse for chili I have ever tasted.
