I live fairly close to this Kroger but this was my first visit. The parking lot is pretty small but I have never noticed a lot of cars here. This Kroger seems older and outdated. The lights are dimmer, the store is smaller, and the aisles narrower. I was still able to find a few good food selections. No complaints. They did not have any cashiers working. This Kroger is set to close October 18, 2025. I'm pretty sad about this, because it is sort of like the "baby Kroger" that used to live in Decatur that I lived near when I first moved to Atlanta. This is definitely and older store, positioned oddly where Clairmont and Buford Hwy cross at a strange accident waiting to happen angle. They have security here most of the time, but I haven't ever experienced any awkward requests for food or money in the store or in the parking lot. It's the one Kroger where the employees are really friendly and nice. It attracts a real diversity of customers which is fun. I'll miss this location as part of the community. read more

I used to live just down the street from this Kroger, and I walked a few times from my apartment to this store. I moved away from this area about three and a half years ago, but I came back to shop at the beginning of October. Parking is always available. However, people need to be alert because many of the drivers drive way too fast through the parking lot This Kroger is older, smaller and busy. Because it's busy, it has a high turnover of inventory. I found out years ago that this store has the freshest produce and breads. There are a lot of Hispanics that shop here, and the Hispanic aisles near the back middle of the store are stocks with a lot of Hispanic-related items. This store is not the best maintained, and the floors are dirty at times. I tended not to buy meats here, because they're generally more expensive. This was a plus, though, because once a week meats nearing the end of their "buy by" date were marked down. Of course, the customer would have to cook the meat within a couple of days after purchasing it. Employees are not very customer friendly, and the employees watching over the self-check out area act like customers going through that area are stealing items on their way out. read more

This Kroger is officially known as the Clairmont Kroger. It sits on both Clairmont Road and Buford Highway in the Skye Hill shopping plaza. This is an old Kroger. Grocery shopping here was like taking a step back in time. The inside of the store needs some updating. However, part of me was really into the old signage, paneling, trim, and flooring. It made our shopping experience fun because of the "retroness" of it all. Just take a look at my pictures. It wouldn't surprise me if this Kroger renovates soon or is renovated by the time you read this. Kroger stores in Atlanta proper have been renovating in recent years such as my neighborhood Kroger on Howell Mill Road: https://www.yelp.com/biz/kroger-atlanta-6. Kroger stores have always been fine to me. While not great, they're usually decently stocked with most everything you need/the essentials at good or reasonable prices. Generally, the produce sections could be better in terms of both selection and quality, but still, they're not bad. This Clairmont-BuHi location is no exception. Be sure to sign up for a free Kroger Plus Card to get discounts. I stopped carrying a physical card years ago and now just scan the bar code on my Kroger app at checkout. We picked up a bunch of groceries and personal care products here. Angel hair pasta, baguettes, mangoes, sweet potato, yogurt, tomato paste, paprika, mushrooms, blueberries, avocadoes, tomatoes, chickpeas, salad dressing, handsoap, body soap, and lotion. They had some of my favorite brands like Dial, Lever 2000, and Lubriderm. The former two were on sale. A small bottle of Dial handsoap was only a buck and a bottle of Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair lotion was $7.99. They carried some of our favorite food brands too like BRIANNAS dressing and Liberte yogurt (so good). A bottle of dressing was $3.39 and yogurt was $1.79 each. This Kroger is located at the intersection of Clairmont and Buford Highway. This is an older Kroger store that has the footprint to prove it! With that being said, it is certainly a dated store that is in need of a refresh to bring it up to the caliber of Kroger's that surround it around Atlanta! It is a smaller location, but it stays well stocked for the most part. Even with the size, I am still able to find all the staples I hit Kroger for. I have been to this location over the years for full grocery shops and one-off's and I always leave with what I need. Service is decent. I have never experienced exceptional service here, but have also never had a terrible experience. I find that they engage with you as much as needed and they keep it moving, which is fine for me. Parking is plentiful as this Kroger is essentially a stand alone location with the parking lot fully dedicated to them. There are two small businesses on the side of the plaza, but they aren't busy enough to complicate parking. I will say that the lot is in need of repair as well. Entry and exit into the parking lot is located on both Clairmont and Buford Highway in multiple locations. Be careful with both sides, as when the flow of traffic is moving it can be tough to make it out safely...my recommendation is always use the light on the Clairmont side. Overall, I am big Kroger fan and will visit this location when I am in the area and in need. I do hope for a major overhaul of this location as they are in a great spot! read more

Service at Checkout was horrible today. The cashier was GREAT and called for grocery bagging help since she was not physically able to do it (no one came). I was NOT at the self serve area. Another customer had to help me bag my groceries since I am a senior citizen with a bad shoulder. I was very disappointed. The food. Yes - let's talk about that. Be careful. I went in for several items. I didn't look closely at the fresh beets because I didn't think I needed to. When I got home. They had so much mold, I couldn't use them. I called the store and asked for a store manager...She was probably the rudest manager I had ever spoke with. She said, 'that happens'. Not an apology or anything at all. I had never been here before. I usually shop at Publix but was passing by because my son, who was juicing asked me to pick up a few things. Needless to say, I have and never will be back to this location. Crazy. They don't care about customers or quality of food at. They know many people in the surrounding areas DO NOT have a choice. Always has been gross! Produce is old. Meat and ground meat is always brown. I use it for convenience; otherwise, it is wor going to another store. This place is a Disgusting store! Then mens room is always in shambles. This time; all or the dispensers were knocked of the wall and I couldn't even get water to wash my hands, because the faucet was knocked off and wasn't working. This store is very close to home so I drop by for my sweet fix every so often. Two weeks ago I picked up Tillamok ice cream, got home and it was awful, clearly thawed and refrozen...very crunchy/icy. I called to report that they should check the rest of the stock. the manager was very reluctant to give her name until she understood I was not looking for compensation. She said she would take care of the issue and thanked me for reporting. Today I head to the same Kroger for another container of Tillamok and it's also crunchy/icy. I again called, was disconnected, called back and no answer for 14 minutes (just curious how long they'd let the phone ring). I've reported to Tillamok and Kroger HQ - I am not sure I want to shop at this store going forward as they clearly do not care about the condition of product they sell. read more

I ask the clark at the deli in Krogers 3855 Buford hwy NE Atlanta for a 8 piece of baked chicken. She explained she couldn't sell the freshly cooked chicken. I could only by the chicken that was setting out for 3 hours. She could only sell the freshly cooked chicken in a meal. I looked at the real dried out potatoes and equally totally dried out mac and cheese. I could believe she was serious. I bought the meal to get the freshly cooked chicken. I paid $5.50 I realized I didn't get fork, spoon or a napkin. I went back and asked she said they only had a fork and nothing else. The services was horrible without out question horrible. I can't recall another Kroger I've been to that had reggaeton pumping out of the soundsystem. This Kroger on Buford Highway is handy if you're enjoying a meal in the area and need to pick up grocery stuff after. As an added bonus: it closes at 1 AM. However, the layout is odd*, and it feels pretty dated in there. *I needed to buy a tub of yogurt. I had a specific brand in mind and headed to the back corner since dairy's there. I was dismayed to discover how scanty the yogurt section was. I picked up a highly-regarded substitute and headed out, still puzzled as to how Kroger could not carry my first very common choice. As luck would have it, I spied the natural foods section in the front and bounded over there. No rhyme or reason why this brand would be in the natural foods section and the substitute brand would be in the regular dairy section. This Kroger, one of the "named" Krogers in the Atlanta area (people call it "Mexi-Kroger" due to its location within an overwhelmingly Mexican-populated part of Brookhaven/Doraville/Chamblee), and while it has that renown it's not the greatest of them... whatever the greatest of the Metro-Atlanta Krogers might be, mind. It's been an ancillary Kroger for me, my often going there if I need to pick up something after dropping one of my friends home who doesn't have a car, but not often enough to more-or-less know exactly where everything is besides the/my essentials (bread, which is just up the way from the off-and-on okay produce; the milk, on the perpendicular opposite side of the store; eggs, just around the corner from the milk; and peanuts, about two aisles before you get to the milk). This Kroger actually gives me some of the feelings I'd had of my neighborhood Winn-Dixie back in my hometown of Lauderhill, Florida. It feels gritty, the floors have a little dirt on them, but not enough to make one feel disgusting. I have left it after shopping, sometimes, and felt like I'd needed to wash my hands, but I feel like that at the gas station (always have hand sanitizer in the car just for that) and after putting away groceries in general anyway. It's very grab-what-you-need-and-go. It's always been a Sunday afternoon I've gone, and I can't say I've ever really noticed too many people coming in with their kids shopping. I'm fine with that, but it's just a different feel from other Krogers. Well, I can't say when "Disco Kroger" (that is, the basically Downtown Buckhead Kroger on Peachtree Road and Piedmont Road) used to be my primary Kroger when I'd lived over that way I'd noticed too many kids either... But that's for a different reason in the same way that "Kro-gay" (the Ansley Park Kroger, the few times I've been there) has its differences that don't line up usually with seeing kids there: demographics. I've found it a little charming because of the Central American staple products one can find there, such as a giant pot for making tamales and "Mexican" (as I've eternally heard people call it throughout my life) versions of Coca-Cola products, and readily seeing social adult beverages like the fruity alcoholic Seagrams drinks. These I haven't seen quite as readily (though they're there) in my regular (not-so-special-enough-to-have-a-nickname Kroger in Embry Hills). The charm wears off when you see banks of the coin-counting machines and people queuing up to use them. Just a little... For those who would go there looking, they do not serve sushi (that I *do* notice), and I couldn't tell you what their meat is like because that's definitely not in my field of notice. They do have a nook past the bakery that has the healthier and organic items. It was there I'd discovered Horizon Organic milk comes in six-packs, which works out to be cheaper (like $1.75 sometimes cheaper) than the 10-for-$10 specials Embry Hills' Kroger sells them in the bins by the Bank of America convenience branch. That made me feel like they'd cheated me a little. So, I wouldn't call this Kroger utilitarian (but it can suit your needs in a pinch or for convenience sake), and neither would I recommend it to someone if they have another option (like the Aldi just up the road, but even that one is just mildly a step up from Mexi-Kroger), but it's just marginally okay. Y'all this kroger is RAGGEDY! RAG-GE-DY! And the part that confuses me is that I don't know why. Like it's in a nice spot, ample parking, even has a bank next to it, but when you walk in you get this immediate less than feeling. Like I go here for emergencies and even then I regret going. Like this kroger is in need of some serious renovations. The layout is slightly weird and the produce doesn't look all that appealing most days. It just feels really forgotten and uncared for and it's disappointing. I don't know who owns this branch but they clearly do not care about this kroger. And it's not like the workers or the actual staff isn't nice, it's the building and attention to it that's the issue. With its location at the corner of Clairmont and Buford, walking around this Kroger is like riding the It's a Small World ride, but without the annoying song. In fact, the last time I was there, Kool and the Gang's Hollywood Swinging' was playing, which is fine by me. Speaking of Kool and the Gang, I've actually visited this Kroger (which is many miles from my home) more times than I've been to Disco Kroger. This probably tells you more about the amount of time I spend of off Buford Highway as opposed to the, um, more "refined" areas of town. I usually stop by here after shopping some bizarre Asian mart to buy a an obscure ingredient like gillyweed or mandrake root and then realized I was out of something like Tide or Diet Coke. This Kroger used to have a pretty impressive selection of obscure Asian and Latin ingredients itself, but on my last visit, it appeared to have been significantly whitewashed. Sigh. I guess they realized they couldn't compete with the Asiamart, so they don't even bother. But even the many immigrants on Buford need stuff like Tide and Diet Coke, and you'll always find plenty of them here (immigrants, not Diet Coke. Well, Diet Coke too.) Today, I went to use Kroger's money services/customer service center. The line was extremely long as usual, but that's to be expected during the beginning of any month. Any who, the manager (Arron) noticed the ridiculously long line and addressed everyone by apologizing for the wait. He also decided to decrease the amount of people by personally handling returns and other non-money services related task. Though the issue had NOTHING to do with his leadership, Arron still attempted to resolve it. The money services center was fully staffed and the employees were working as fast as they could. Honestly, the issue was with the people who stood in line for 20mins and decided to fill out all of their paper work when they got up to the window, (Insert MAJOR eye roll). I respect him for stepping up and exemplifying great leadership tactics. Side note: The parking lots design is horrible! This might seem like a minor issue. Just wait until you spend 20 mins playing parking lot wars with the other shoppers, you will understand my pain read more

It's not a shopping "experience" by any means but you can get most everything you need in this store without fighting for parking or waiting longer than 5 minutes to check out. As many times as I have rode past this location I would never know that it was totally not like other Kroger locations. Upon entering after 8am I was greeted by a very nice lady. That's where the good stuff ends. This location is ass backwards for lack of a better description. Everything is placed totally different. You can't just walk in here and expect something to be where it is in another store. This store is also in need of a desperate makeover. It is kind of outdated. They didn't have what I wanted but I did have one thing in my buggy to purchase. I was immediately turned off because there were no checkout people. The same lady that greeted me is the same person that was working self check out. You are forced to do self checkout which I do not like using at all. There were no customer service people either. They had people waiting in line and the customer service window was completely closed and dark. Where do they do that at when the store is actually open? Nowhere. I recently moved close to this area and I try to avoid this Kroger. It is good for the necessities I would say and thats it. This is a smaller Kroger location that needs an updated layout plan. There is plenty of parking although the parking lot is designed oddly. If your looking for a cleaner Kroger with more selection or even the salad and sushi bars this is not the place to come too. 1 star because it's a Kroger and I prefer Kroger 1 star because its proximity to my home. This is a smaller Kroger store with just barely the basic amenities one would expect. You will not find sushi here. The bakery is limited. A few very disorganized aisles/shelves. The other night the cashier did not greet me, did not make eye contact, and instead continued to carry a conversation with another staff member in Ethiopian throughout the entire transaction. I've interacted with the same individual in the past and she's less than enthusiastic when it comes to customer service. I come here when I absolutely need to. otherwise, I would recommend going elsewhere. As others have mentioned, the parking lot is a mess. Overall, it is clean. So I haven't really been a fan of the Kroger. Even back home, Kroger has always been second rate in my book. This store always has that usual smell of "Kroger-funk" in the air. Those who frequent Kroger will know what I mean. The produce sucks, and is not fresh at all as they deem in their ads. There is always seems to have a layer of dirt and grime on the floor, carts, and hand carrying baskets. If you are looking for authentic Mexican ingredients for your Mexican dishes, you can definitely find it here, as a good chunk of the store is dedicated to Mexican cuisine. This Kroger is extremely close to my apartment and I could probably walk to it, yet I get in the car and drive past it to the other Kroger on peachtree rd. I go out of my way not to shop here. It's all ethnic food and I've picked up items that are outdated by accident, didn't know I should have to watch if it expires tomorrow. If this Kroger was a step up like the other I'd shop everyday but I'll drive to any other publix, whole foods, or the other Kroger to avoid this one near my house. Dirty conditions, bad food, and I was even worried about leaving my car while I saw other's walking around checking windows not to mention every time I get hassled for some kind of money at the door. All Krogers have nicknames: There's the famous Disco Kroger on Piedmont that was called that because of the Limelight, the one on Ponce is COPS Kroger because it's been on the tv show lots of times, Ansley's is Gay Kroger, Toco's is Kosher Kroger. My kids call this one Hooker Kroger. In fairness, it has had a major upgrade in recent years and is not so skanky. If I wear a backpack, sometimes they make me check it. It makes me feel like I'm shopping at Junkman's Daughter. I mostly try to shop at the Brookhaven Kroger on Peachtree Road. But this one is a little closer. read more

This is probably the most multi-cultural Kroger that I have ever been in and that's what I like the most about this particular store. Due to our family background we eat a lot of food from South America and they have a good selection of it here as does all of the Buford Highway area if you have never been exploring down that way. We also use the Western Union service here quite often and the person that is usually back there always does a good job. You wouldn't believe how many Kroger's, Publix's, etc, that I have been in where the counter-person didn't know how to send money to another country,LOL. As I alluded to earlier they have a large selection of Latino foods here and we especially like the Colombian sausage that they have here. If you want to taste something good, go buy this. It's hard to miss; the package has a little Colombian flag on it. This particular Kroger is a little on the small side but it is well organized and easy to find your way around. The customer service here is very good here too so props to the management team for that. On more than one occasion I have had someone from the store come up to me and offer to help me find something (without them being asked) and the folks that work at the check-outs are always pleasant and greet you as soon as you walk up. I'm giving this Kroger four stars and most of that was earned because of how friendly the staff is in this store:) read more

This place is terrible! On my first visit I had to pick up some sour cream for a recipe I was making. Get all the way back home only to realize that the sour cream had expired days before. It happens, right? Should have checked the date before purchasing, I get that. So on another visit, I just need to pick up a few canned food items and decide to pick up some other things since I am already there and don't want to have to venture out to my regular grocery store. So i pick up my usual yogurt and actually check the date; expired! So i think, well I can just grab a different flavor; nope! Also expired! Really? How is this possible that they have so much stock that is expired on their shelves? This Was my first and last visit to a Kroger store. I regret buying anything. Most of the produce was not fresh and the peppers had mold all over them. I bought bread only to realize once I got home that it was moldy. The store is dirty and some patrons were staring me down in s strange manner prompting us to leave quickly. Looking at the reviews here by date shows one inescapable fact: this Kroger, which has been my primary shopping location for eight years, has continued to decline. But I could still find basics there--until the last few months. The problem isn't even that they rearranged everything to make it impossible to find (i.e., candy is on the baby products aisle, feminine hygiene products are in the Hispanic food section). It's that the selection, never good, has narrowed even more. I was shocked when I went there this week. Yes, I know I won't find most brands except for Kroger and Kraft, which seem to be corporately related, and there won't be many varieties of an item, maybe two if six or more exist. But now they have removed common cheeses such as Laughing Cow and Alouette among others, removed all hair care products such as hairpins, combs, etc., and only carry (if you will excuse my mentioning such a delicate subject, but it's environmentally important) brand name tampons with plastic applicators--apparently they don't make the inexpensive, reliable Kroger brand any more. Really, literally, *all* plastic applicators! That's just environmentally ignorant. There have been so many nice people working there--much nicer than any other Kroger of the six or more I've tried in the Atlanta area--but many of them are gone now and most of the rest are too dispirited and depressed to make eye contact now. There appears to be a new manager, whom I saw a woman upbraiding the last time I was there, but he doesn't seem to care about the negative feedback. Kroger, you have forced me to Wal-Mart. Not sure why this store gets such bad reviews. Parking lot is huge, easy to get in and out. Upon walking in there were two employees who immediately greeted us with warm smiles and we're ready to help. Walked around the store to check it out and ended up looking for a specific item. Ran into Mickey and he did not hesitate one bit to stop what he was doing to find the item. When we didn't see the variety on the self he offered to go to the back to look for more. He also walked around the store to see if it was placed elsewhere. Outstanding service. It's unfortunate that others did not have the same experience. read more

I have a love / hate relationship with this Kroger. I dislike the size of the parking lot and how there is only one door to use to go in & out of the store. I like that it is a smaller and simple version of Kroger, when so many of them are huge now a days. I normally do not have a problem finding what I need in this store. I am one of the BESTEST Yelp reviewers because I try really, really hard to be objective- even when I don't want to be. Fair is fair. All that having been said, here's the deal with this Kroger. I DO NOT LIKE THIS LOCATION AT ALL, but... It gets FIVE STARS because it is the ONLY store (so far) besides Publix that I've been able to find RED ROCK GINGER ALE!!! They have the BIG BOTTLES!! They even have other FLAVORS of RED ROCK SODAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That fact ALONE, the carrying of RED ROCK products earns them FIVE STARS!! Publix only has the baby bottles, and they only carry the ginger ale. Now, about why this store would get two stars if RED ROCK hadn't saved it- they look at me like I'm going to steal when I walk in, it feels unclean, it's not pretty, it's frumpy, I haven't been able to find any staff member that understood English well on the floor (they did try, though), and there seems to be only one nice staff member- the self check out lady, I think her name may be Lolly, and she's not there all the time, of course. I don't know why I ever expect this location to ever step up their customer service game. There's a gentleman I've interacted w/ in the dairy section numerous times and he earns employee of the month every time! I'll get you his name. Very nice. Even when he's frantic busy helping 5 other people he will ask me if I had a few to wait he would come back and address me. Never has he passed the buck or said I don't know to my questions. He will run inside to find something for me if the shelf is out. That's right. Run! Not mosey. Unfortunately he's the only reason why this location even gets one star. The rest will tell me I don't know, or pretend they don't understand my questions. It's like no one cares in there. I never see management. The work environment is only as good as management is and it's quite apparent management doesn't care. The general attitude of workers is negative. I might get basic how are you's but god forbid I put someone out with my questions! When they were remodeling I was excited the store would get a face-lift like other locations. But no. Just a few new cases in produce and dairy. That's it. The same dingy place. I get in line with the cashiers instead of self service and the attitude is usually unresponsive and I'm made to feel like I'm inconveniencing them. I don't understand why upper management won't address these issues. I don't have these problems at the Chamblee Tucker location. read more

Not the best Kroger, but certainly not the worst. There are nicer and newer Krogers not too far away, but none of them have the character that this Kroger does. This location has a nice hispanic section. However, this location lacks a full meat and seafood counter that most other Krogers have. They still offer plenty of meat and seafood, there just isn't the bright, shiny glass case that you might be used to seeing. As mentioned in other reviews, the organic and all-natural food section is a little smaller than most, but it still has a lot of really great items. Also, since it is tucked away in the front, a lot of items go overlooked and you can get some great deals on manager specials! read more

The people who work at Kroger I don't know how to bag the food and the people at Kroger is at nine I do not like Kroger

I live within walking distance to this Kroger, but I choose to drive to the Town Brookhaven Publix to shop for my groceries. I will say that I have a pleasant experience at the pharmacy, which is why I will continue to have my prescriptions filled here. However, I have repeatedly bought food here that just wasn't fresh. The customer service is terrible. They MIGHT have one or two checkout lines open. Most of the time I'm forced to use the self-checkout, which is not ideal when you have an infant in tow. I do not recommend doing the bulk of your shopping here. I even hate running in here for a couple of items! The whole experience is just frustrating. read more
