Some things I like about LIDL... They almost always have pretty good produce. The prices are comparable if not competitive. They offer their own branding as well as some major brands. They have a decent cheese selection. They offer a very similar experience to Aldi. However, the produce at Aldi is very often not very good. My absolute favorite thing about LIDL is the bakery. Every day, they freshly bake a very large amount of different pastries, and breads. In my experience, their pastries of bread are far superior to Kroger, Walmart, and yes... even Publix. If you are skipping the bakery, you are sleeping on the best part of Lidl. My absolute favorite item is the hazelnut croissant. However, all the offerings are really good. I like to take the hazelnut croissant, put a couple of squares of butter inside, and heat it up in the oven for about 3 to 4 minutes. That hazelnut filling just creams up fantastically... It's an awesome treat as a dessert or as a breakfast pastry. Every time I am passing by, I make sure to stop in just for the bakery, even if I don't need anything else. Today, I tried their chocolate covered doughnut, and it was phenomenal. You know those Entenmann's chocolate covered donuts? The little ones with tons of chocolate? Well, Lidl does the same thing except on a regular size doughnut... And instead of stale donut on the inside, it's fluffy and squishy and so good! The chocolate is creamy and still hardened on the outside, but melts almost to the touch I should have gotten more of them. I also grabbed one of their jelly donuts, and I am excited to try them because if the regular chocolate doughnut was that good then the jelly doughnut should be amazing as well. The people are always really friendly and they have a self service check out. The music is always fresh every time I go in too. They even have an aisle similar to Walmart's "as seen on TV" section where the manager sometimes stocks "Viral Snacks" such as the freeze dried skittles or the Peelerz gummies. Pretty cool. If you have not been to Lidl's, then you should definitely give them a shot and stop in the next time you're swinging by. I promise it will not be a waste of your time. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT because I have been overcharged many times when an associate rings me up. I do not want to assume the worst, but the gent was not friendly. I had to ask him to be careful with the hollow chocolate Santas that I purchased, based on the way he was pushing my groceries down the belt. On this occasion , the associate rang me up for 5 cake mixes which I only had 2. I will return tomorrow for my refund. This has happened to me several times. This was the first time I'd been to a Lidl, and I saw the comparison to Aldi. This store was really messy and there was stuff strewn about all over. A lot of shelves were almost empty. No one was really stocking or working. There was one cashier who looked like he was about to either quit or fall over dead. I mean, the energy there was horrific. If you shop carefully and look around, you will see the prices in here are not near as great as they tout... Plus their sale prices are tied to your use of their app and you have to read the fine print because if you go by the text on signs you can think you're getting a sale price "but" only if you "buy 2" or (sometimes) 10. (Kroger runs a similar scam.) The only good prices are on things that are going to be proprietary items with the LidL name. They do tend to carry some name brands, but those are generally equal to the prices at Publix (and some Publix prices are to equal the prices at Whole Foods, yes I've checked.) I've tried several of these private label LidL items and while it's difficult to mess up things like fresh milk, blueberries or salad... I have found some of their other items to be severely lacking in quality. They do offer a quality guarantee so you can return the item that you don't like. That is a huge hassle to return things at this place and they probably make it so just so you won't return it. Another hassle is a recent wrinkle that I really don't care for. After patronizing the store for months, signs went up saying "remodeling to serve you better" ... sure, they "remodeled" but it's not to serve us customers any better. They removed two of their checkout lanes and expanded some shelving, but everything on all the other shelves is still just as crowded as they always were so "whatever" about that. The biggest hassle is the brand new self service checkouts. I was unlucky enough to be there on the first day that these were unveiled... they had one lone employee walking between the stations to help every customer that was pushing the button to alert them for help. That amount to every person at the stations. Every person. LidL tries to addict you to using their "app" ...that's the only way to get the sale prices. You have to sign up and enter your phone number ... that was previously accomplished at the end of the sale when the cashier prompts that screen to come up. Then the whole order is re-totaled after it recognized you as a app user. In this new self checkout system, I expected the same screen to appear prior to the total like previous. But nope. I don't know where that went or why it was changed but LidL could take a page from Target's handbook and put the frequent customer entry prominently in the first screen before you start scanning anything at all. But they won't ... I mentioned my displeasure to a female manager before leaving, and all she could do was shrug and say "oh, it's a work in progress" Yup. She cared a lot. Really? Why put out a system that's not ready for prime time for customers to use and not have enough staff on hand to Guide them through the process??? Lastly, as part of their remodel, they have removed the counter behind the checkouts where you could bag your groceries. This used to be helpful when it wasn't covered with their ridiculous monthly publication but now it's been removed completely so thanks for nothing on that. Grocery shopping was becoming a hassle even before the pandemic and stuff like this has made it even worse. What's the use of having customers check out themselves? How much money is LidL saving on staff? (They never really staffed the checkout lines very well in the first place.) And are they really passing it on to the customers? My guess is no. read more

My first visit to a Lidl - how lucky are Peachtree Corners residents to have Lidl, Trader Joe's AND Sprouts located practically next to each other! I wish we had such options in the Doraville/Chamblee area! Lidl's feels kind of like Aldi's but a step above - they have the same mix of mostly generic brands but had a few more name-brands (compared to Aldi's). The other stand-out and differentiator is their bakery with the freshly baked breads and pastries. I bought a rustic baguette for just $1.49 and enjoyed it with their $3.99 smoked salmon. Al M. raved about their rosemary bread and tangerine juice - I will get that next time! Produce looked fresh and prices are great too. Great meat selection too. Bring your own bag(s)! I'm not a huge Aldi fan but when Clarke Howard talked about Lidl, I didn't rush. However, I love going to Trader Joe's and Lidl is down the street so I'm like why not? My mind was blown away with Lidl!! It is a lot bigger than I thought. They have a bakery section, like for real! Plus I saw lots of veggies and fruits. Add in organic products too. This was my first time shopping in this location and it will be my last because it was not pleasant. My friend and I decided to shop here around lunch yesterday but were met with the worst customer service I'd ever experienced. As I'm ringing up pastries to grab something quick on our lunch break, the pastries weren't ringing up properly. We called for help in self checkout, once the associate arrived I asked a question but he answered me with "What?" in a smart tone. He proceeds to throw my pastries to the side and walks to the next customer all while ignoring me as I say thank you for coming to help. read more

This Lidl requires self check out. On Wednesday, I had had a long day at work and been at a two hour doctors appointment. I needed to buy groceries for our family of five. I selected $145 worth of groceries. I asked the cashier if he could check me out as I was tired. He said that they only check out EBT cards and cash. So I had to check out myself. It took me at least 10 more minutes to check out myself. It's not worth it to me to buy our family groceries here. I will be returning to Aldi and Publix. read more

If you are looking for a place with reasonably priced groceries, this is the place to go. Plenty of options just about every item I would typically get from the grocery store. You need to bring your own bags or you can pay for them at the register. Not sure the days when they restock the shelves but depending on when you go, some items may not be available. But if you shop for sale item, mix and Match with other grocery store items, you can save a lot of money. read more

I really don't understand this place. Having driven by it many times, from construction to opening, I decided to try it. I heard it was European, so I figured it can't possibly be worse than Kroger, Target or Walmart. IDK what I expected, better service, better value, better quality? Lidl is like some quasi-Aldi/Trader Joes/Whole Foods bastard child. The layout reminded me of Aldi's, some of the fresh stuff and unique things seemed to differentiate it from the typical stores. Better service? HA, the service was terrible. Better prices? Other than two items, everything was at price, or more, than any other grocery store. The worst part was at checkout. I had no idea how their system works. I did not know I needed to bring my own bags, I did not know the advertised sales required downloading another gd app to my phone. I'm finding all of this out as I'm checking out, again terrible service, the cashier was very rude, of course only two lanes were open, and accordingly I was in line for a while. The staff there seemed even more lost and apathetic than you would find at Walmart or Kroger. First I notice I'm getting charged different prices on everything, then find out I need the app, I kindly tell her to f-off. She tells me to go to the website, so I'm messing with this as everything is finished ringing up, of course that doesn't work. I just pay full price, far more expensive than a trip at any other store would have been. Then I find out they do not have bags, so I'm putting everything back into my cart, the cashier tells me I could get back in line and buy a reuseable bag. Now I feel like an idiot, and the line is building, and having had to wait in line, I didn't want to cause any more problems for the fellow shoppers, so I just threw everything in the cart. Top it all off, I even bought a few of their store brand products, which turned out to be crap, worse than dollar store quality. Needless to say, this place is lousy. I have been waiting for a Lidl store to open near my area of town. I ventured out with my fellow masked marvels to attend Lidl's grand opening. The bakery section is strategically placed near the front door, and it is the first multi-sensory impression customers encounter as they enter. I was intrigued by several of the items in Lidl's bakery section but I was disappointed that some of the baked goods lacked ingredient labels. Two of the items I purchased at Lidl were standout winners. The first was Lidl's 100% tangerine juice. From the first sip, the fresh taste of tangerines is startling. The juice is the perfect "wake up" beverage at breakfast or as a superior mixer for cocktails. I was somewhat reluctant to purchase the other item, Lidl's fresh baked rosemary bread, because it did not have an ingredient label on it. However, I'm glad I took the chance and bought a loaf. Lidl's rosemary bread is absolutely divine. I had to rely upon all the willpower I could muster just to avoid eating the entire loaf at one sitting. I also appreciated the quality and value of Lidl's rBST free cheeses. On the room for improvement side, there are far too many national brand items in the store that can easily be purchased elsewhere, quite likely, at a better price. Lidl should make a serious effort to replace as many of these national brand products with more unique items, including Lidl brand name foods and beverages. I was mildly intrigued by the display of Lidl's Czech Beer but on closer inspection, the beverage had exceeded its "Best By" date by a few months. I decided to hold off until a fresher shipment arrives. Words of advise for all Lidl employees and patrons: If you're going to put on a medical mask, you might as well make the effort to wear it properly. The mask's effectiveness is severely negated when worn as a chinstrap. My overall first impression of Lidl is that it has many more food and beverage items of interest than Aldi but it's not quite as extraordinary as Trader Joe's. I enjoyed the clean, easy to explore aisles, along with the brightness and openness of the Lidl store. It was a notably pleasant shopping experience. The checkout employee was very amiable and professional. Lidl's rosemary bread alone is reason enough for a return trip. read more

The store is a cool idea, but it seems like an overly crowded Aldi, I also had issues with an employee on the sales floor. They were trying to stock the dairy shelves, and pushed past my boyfriend and I with a very large cart. I told her that I just needed to grab something off the shelf really quick, to which she responded "well, that's where I'm goin" and continued. This left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I haven't been back. I understand that employees need to have space to do their job, and that restocking shelves, especially at the grocery store is very important during the pandemic. However, making customers feel that they are in the way is disrespectful. read more

When my kids started to eat the muffins we bought right after I got home, I stopped her before my 9 years old girl put the muffin into her mouth because I found GREY MOLD on her muffin. Later I found all 4 muffins have mold. We purchased the muffins on 7/11, and on the packaging the expiration date is 7/28. read more

Lidl is an awesome addition to our grocery options! Their prices on staples like milk and eggs are far lower than other stores. They also have a nice baked goods section, meat, dairy and produce all with good deals. They usually have a few items marked way down (like last week I got a 10 lb bag of potatoes for $1.99). Their chocolate section will really make you happy with the selection and prices if you like sweets. They have a variety of cheesecakes that are really good for grocery store cake. There's also an aisle that feels a little bit like Costco, just a random selection of non food items at low prices. Since they're not a huge store, you won't find some items there (like jello for example) but you can definitely do the bulk of your shopping there. I recommend downloading their app, they frequently have deals and discounts on there and you get coupons based on how often you shop. read more

I went there yesterday for the first time and I must say I am very impressed. Great selections for now. They are only open for 5 days now and selections was great. Price is amazing and love how similar they are trying to be like in Germany. I am few of the lucky ones to have experienced Lidl in Germany. I love this supermarket! The have the best prices on great veggies, with lots of organic options to choose from. They have a bakery with fresh bread! They have inexpensive flowers for a vase. Awful customer service. Just left there. Line was 8 carts deep with only one register open. I got out of line and politely approached a manager and an employee who had been talking to each other for several minutes -- you could tell by the way they were talking they were deep into a conversation complaining to each other. I interrupted with an "excuse me" and asked if they could open up another register. The manager pointed to the register where the long line was and rudely said "There's a register open right there." The employee he was talking to gave me the same look -- like they were mad I even said anything to them. I went back in line and after a few more minutes another employee opened another register. After I checked out I approached the manager and employee -- who were still in the middle of their gripe fest -- and I said "Looks like you could've opened up another register". They both about bit my head off and said that employee had just gotten off break. Those two must've sat there -/ not working -- just talking for about 5-10 minutes, only about 20 feet away from where the line was, never did either one of them leave their conversation to open another register. Not the first time I've experienced that kind of service there. read more
