Atmosphere and staff were nice. Ordered the hot chicken sandwich and was flat out offended by what I was served. The chicken was literally thinner than a patty on a McDonalds hamburger. The breading was thicker than the chicken and looked preposterous on the gigantic Brioche Bun. I can only imagine they were running low on chicken and cut portions into quarters. Actually came on Yelp to see if this was normal portions- pictures confirm it's not. No excuse for this- either very inconsistent or a conscious choice to risk disappointing customers. Really tried to like this restaurant, mainly because of the support of small businesses and because it's a BYOB. This was our second time to visit, first time to the new location. Their menu is limited to 5 entrees and then sandwiches/burgers - food quality/flavor is average, priced accordingly. However the biggest complaint I have is the service - the two times we've been we regularly have to waive someone down for help and worst of all, both times we were rushed out due to a 9pm closing; this last time they literally turned off the music and turned the lights to bright - in other words, 'your time is up and we're ready for you to leave.' Really disappointing and unfortunately likely our last time to visit. Wish the place the best, but hard to compete with Jonathan's and Federal Grill with this experience. read more

The manager is a real jerk. It was our first time here. We were seated at a table that was not desirable so I asked to be moved. Nope! The manager would not move us. First strike. I brought my own wine. NO WHERE IS THERE A MENTION OF A CORK FEE. I was telling my companion that I was surprised there was no cork fee. Low and behold, when we got the bill, there was a cork fee. Strike Two.Also, a charge that was not suppose to be on the bill was there. I asked the manager about it. He removed the charge but said I should have asked about the cork fee. I SHOULD HAVE ASKED?!!! I said it was customary for the establishment to state the cork fee. The manager shrugged his shoulders. It was not on the website, menu, or told to us by the waiter. So I guess KP's Kitchen can charge whatever the mood hits it. When finishing my bill, it asked if I wanted a receipt. I touched YES. Then it prompted me to all these other things. It then stated that there was a problem. I asked the manager and he said (as he was passing by, not stopping) that he was sure it was all okay and finished. I didn't get a receipt. Stike three! I know my total so if my credit card is charged something different, I will be contacting the owner of said establishment. The food was good, but the manager was not. What a gem to find! We were driving through the parking lot, heading to the main area in town and country, looking for a place to eat lunch. I looked over and saw KP's kitchen. My wife agreed we should try it, so in we went. Immediately we were greeted and seated. The place is immaculate! Cleanest place I've eaten at! The server came a bunch of times to check on us and attempted to take our order, my wife and I took a while to decide what great food to have. Service was amazing!! We ordered and got the ribs and the hot chicken sandwich. The hot chicken was so good! So juicy and spiced perfectly with a soft bun and fresh, tasty coleslaw on it. My wife's ribs were very tasty also. Forgot to mention the homemade chips. Wow!! Crispy warm and crunchy. Right out of the fryer. Thin and great fresh potato flavor. Highly recommend this place. My wife and I stopped in for the restaurants weeks menu and were not disappointed. The restaurant interior is pleasant and uncluttered. We were there at an odd hour so it was also very quiet. Another plus is their BYOB policy. We brought in one of our favorite wines from the house and were charged a very reasonable $5.00 cork fee. We selected the restaurant weeks menu, but the regular menu has a wide selection of items so there should be something for every taste. We had the Shishito Peppers, Brussels Sprouts, Bistro Filet, Crabcake and Key Lime tart. The peppers were good but not great. My wife liked the sprouts, although they are not really my thing. The filet and crabcake were spot on with some creative seasoning the really worked. The tart was tasty and tart - very nice. Looking forward to future visits. read more

I am a big burger fanatic and as much as I appreciate a good juicy burger with toppings and what not, sometimes I just want a good classic simple burger without the toppings and fancy touch! I got KPs Burger and man! That burger did not disappoint! My husband and I were both impressed by how juicy and flavorful it was! The patty was cooked medium well and the bun was soft and crisp! The bacon adds the perfect crunch and is cooked to perfection tbh. The fries were crisp and not greasy at all; which we appreciate! I also got the Brussel sprouts and Crispy Cauliflower sides. Brussel sprouts were okay, I think it should've been roasted more for a crispier finish. We got our order to go, so maybe it became soggy over time. However I can look past that. The crispy cauliflower was good, the sauce adds the perfect flavor to the crunch. Overall, I'm glad I gave this place another chance! The cheeseburger is my new fav! read more

Met a friend for lunch; she had a burger that she claimed "melted in her mouth" and I had the HRW menu; Brussels sprouts and crab cake salad. Incendiary, really. Would rate the sprouts up there with Perry's, which I also love, but totally different from theirs. The crab cake was fresh and unique, and the dressing was good enough to have me quizzing the owner on its composition when he came around to check on us one final time. The staff is attentive and warm. Will be back. Probably for that burger. Update 9/13: On a subsequent visit I did try the burger, and it is outstanding. Enough to halve between two people. The service was excellent. I love being greeted as I walk in the door. I was joining a group of ladies and we all had good food and a great time. The fresh beautiful simple flowers on a couple tables added a nice ambiance as you walk in as well. When we asked about a previous healthy menu that we were looking for, the owner went to his office and printed some up for us. Very classy. We were allowed to bring in our own wine (nice) which they promptly opened and put in an ice bucket. Overall the service was great and the food was excellent. Dined in for lunch ~ 1130 on Thursday 06/10. Having read the Yelp reviews beforehand, I entered expecting a good meal and service, which was not what we received. Instead, we were treated to incredibly friendly, yet unobtrusive service and fresh, flavorful, quality food. Both the ahi tuna salad, and chicken caesar salad proved to be light and flavorful choices, perfect for the sweltering day outside. Although in a strip mall, the restaurant has ample natural light, and feels open and inviting. Even as the restaurant filled, I was still able to enjoy a one-on-one conversation without any issue hearing the other party which, for a business lunch, is rather important. I am excited to return and enjoy some of the more tempting menu options, including the wonderful desserts. read more

I had lunch with an old friend here a few days ago, and as others have said, I was completely blown away. I started this review a couple of months ago, and have been back at least six times to introduce KP's to more old friends. Still one of the best burgers in Houston, if not the best, at least for burger "purists" (i.e., no "salad" on the burger). Double meat, bacon, light sauce- and the bun holds up throughout, which is something you'll see a pattern in me saying in my reviews. No one likes a soggy, disintegrating bun on their burger! KP and his staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is exquisite. I've had the burger at least four times, and during my last visit was told "shocking that you ordered the burger" so they're paying attention to even us irregulars- great marks for customer service! Highly recommend the burger (duh), the ribs, and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. Just not if you have to work after lunch- defos nap-inducing, but you can power through! Fabulous! read more
