When I first walked in, Koriya had a line. It was 12:00 though and the wait was quick. I ordered the japchae, a rice noodle dish with veggies, egg and bulgogi beef. It took less than 10 minutes to get my order once I sat down. It is a very large plate of food, but for $9.50 it should be. I was surprised there was kale in the dish, since that doesn't seem like a traditional Korean veggie. But it's good! The ladies next to me ordered the bibimbap hot stone bowl and it smelled delightful. I wish I would've ordered that! I did find a hair in the bulgogi which was pretty off putting but the food is good. Next time I come, I will be ordering the bibimbap. read more

Lukewarm, bland lunch. My mom couldn't even take a third bite. The chicken was room temp and tough. The bulgogi tasted as good as a frozen Korean dinner. Gyōza was also a bit cold. Will make a great vegan option for you! I called ahead and asked if they had any vegan options. They indicated the bibimbap could be veganized by omitting the meat and egg. I asked if they could substitute with tofu instead of the meat and egg and they did. I got the cold option from the lunch menu but there is a hot bowl option that is more expensive. One got the Jabchae from the appetizer menu but it is already vegan and was also a nice large portion ($12) and had a good flavor of sauce. The bibimbap vegetable quality was good. The tofu was cooked well with a nice, crispy outside. Staff was friendly & helpful. Sauce on side was spicy which I like. The portions were nice sized and the prices were in line for Korean restaurants. The surroundings were pleasant enough/not fancy and clean with ample seating. Service-4 stars, value 3.5 stars, taste 4 stars, speed 4 stars. Easy to veganize, I will return when in town again!!! read more

I have been going to Koriya for awhile! Used to love it thinking that it was the only restaurant in town that served seafood Raman.... then I went to several other restaurants in town and noticed that they were all literally 100% better. I visited Koriya on a Wednesday evening, with my better half, for my birthday. Upon arrival, I wasn't sure if the place was open because they keep it fairly intimate regarding the entrance and lighting. Once entering the establishment, we were pleasantly surprised. The aroma was divine, the staff was professional and courteous. I had the Spicy Peanut Chicken, as recommended by the lady at the order counter. The Mrs. had the Tempura Shrimp. Both were outstanding. The flavor was amazing, the portions sizable but not gluttonous. Quality of the food was very high. The facility was clean and modern. As mentioned staff was great! My friend and I came in a little after 1pm. You can tell they were busy because there were only a few tables available. This was our first time here and it will not be our last. You ordered up at the cash register and they will give you a number and they will bring you your food. We ordered a rice bowl, jap chae and a bento box. Everything was delicious. We love Koriya and have been regular customers (usually around twice a month). We'd love to see it thrive, but have been disappointed recently. Most recently we wiped grime off the table. The booth seats were ripped. Food crumbs fell out of the obviously neglected high chairs as we picked one up (which we also wiped down). We made a couple orders of gyozas as usual (among other things), but this time they ranged between undercooked and charred burnt black. The server (Emily) said this was "normal" as if it was expected, though she did offer to bring us more (which weren't very good either). Overall we were uncomfortable with the uncleanliness, disappointmented in the food, and didn't enjoy the experience. It certainly wasn't worth the $50 for two meals and apps (including the tip they're now pushing for). We'll really have to be craving those hot stones to be back. read more

Came here to have ramen today. It was my first time to order "Shoyu Ramen" not hot stone bibimbob. I have ate hot stone bibimbob with black(it seems like purple)rice many times and was wonderful flavor, I can recommend ramen strongly as well. it's a kind of japanese style soy sauce. If you are not a great Spicy Chaser, you better to choose this ramen not spicy shrimp ramen. If you prefer your ramen to be not spicy or for young children,you can enjoy this ramen. read more

Love the food! Nice twist on Korean! They're known for their bimibap and you can make it to order! Surprising to find kale but hey, it's healthy. Today I had the spicy seafood ramen. Creamy broth, REAL seafood (octopus, tempura shrimp, mussels!) mmmmmm mmm good. The soft boiled egg was a little overdone but runny eggs in soup?? The dumplings/Gyoza was cooked to perfection (although it could be a little more crispy)! Goes well with cold Sammy summer brew! The eatery has a bar that serves beer n wine. My husband, who has not been to Korea and who has lived in Springfield his whole life, and who does not get overly excited about trying new things, has declared bibimbap to be his favorite meal. We took his brother there, who is normally a fast food and pizza kind of guy, and he loved it. We only eat hot stone bibimbap here since that is the specialty (and I like to order sujeongwa to drink, or "sweet cinnamon cold drink" as it says on the menu). The portion size is generous; we always leave with a small to-go box. I have not tried the other menu items so cannot comment. The ambiance is perfect: comfortable enough for lunch with a friend, and classy enough for a casual date. Plenty of seating, including a nice patio in the back." Update: I still really like the food at Koriya, but it seems like the bibimbap has changed a little bit...I think because they started using lettuce in place of cabbage? It's not bad necessarily, but it's kind of different for me because I love bibimbap so much and am used to it having cabbage. Their hot stone bowl with black rice, tofu and sesame sauce is my go to. The ambiance is nice, the decor is very updated, and it's in a decent location. On top of that the prices are VERY reasonable. I was so disappointed by this place. My friends have been raving about how good it was so I was so excited to try it. First, this is not Korean food. This is an Asian chipotle. I got their Spicy Bulgogi pork. Can't go wrong with Bulgogi right? Wrong. They served it in a hot stone bowl. By the time it cooled off to where I could eat it. It was stuck to the bowl and the rice was so burnt and hard I couldn't eat it. The bottom of the bowl was charred burnt food from being to hot. My son got miso soup and chicken teriyaki noodles. Again the chicken burnt, the noodles were dry and tasteless. He said the soup was good. $18 for me and my son to eat. I wish I would have went to Chickfila like he asked. read more

I have frequented Koriya for a while, and I always find myself craving their rice bowls. They have decent selection of different proteins, sauces and sides. The wait time for the food is a bit longer than a fast food chain, but I chalk that up to impatience while being surrounded by such great smelling food. They are elegantly decorated with a very chill atmosphere. Great for lunch, dinner... And... Well... Pretty much whenever you want to eat great food. The best thing I love is that they successfully fused together American style with Korean tastes. Maybe it's not 100% "authentic"... So what? If it tastes great, it all goes down the same. While the shoyu ramen was good, not the best I've had. A little watery for my taste and only one piece of meat in the entire bowl! I've only ever been in for lunch. The chicken teriyaki bowl is a must. My co-workers all get it and ask for the ginger sauce to accompany it. I think Koriya is very good. One thing I wish they had that other Korean restaurants have is the traditional banchan that is served with the meal. I thought it was weird that I didn't have kimchi and daikon radish with my meal. I also wish they served pickled daikon with the meal as opposed to the pickled onion that they provide as a side. On my first visit, I told the staff to surprise me with a dish. I was given bibimbap dolsot (which they list as bibimbap in a stone bowl), with black rice, bulgogi, and their spicy sauce (which tasted a lot like gochujang). I enjoyed it a lot. I wish they would have added an egg though. I thought the pricing was very reasonable as my girlfriend and I got out for around $25. I will definitely go back. read more

This is my husband's new favorite place to eat. We've been a few times and always enjoyed the food. The staff is very friendly as well. At first glance their menu seems a bit limited, but you can pretty much build your own dish with whatever you want. We brought the kids for the first time, and realized that they don't really have a kids menu. The gal that was taking our order was very helpful in suggesting things that would be kid-friendly, and because they custom make a lot of their orders, they were totally comfortable with putting something together for our kids. When we ordered tempura shrimp for them, the gal even asked how many pieces of shrimp each of the kids would like to have. The indoor eating spaces are a limited - some seating in the front and a little more room at the back of the building, but there is an outdoor patio area that would work if you were eating with more than 5 or 6 people. read more

Apparently when this restaurant changed its name from Bibiya to Koriya, my other 5 star review was lost in the Yelp shuffle. I have no idea what I said at that time...but then and now, Koriya is perhaps my favorite of all restaurants everywhere. Seriously. I LOVE this place! I have since tried many other fancier and/or "more traditional" Korean restaurants, and enjoyed them all, but Koriya stands up very well to the others! I think it would be the perfect place for someone who is unsure about trying out Korean style food, but it's also a great place for anyone who already enjoys bibimbap and similar dishes. I usually opt for the salad rice with chicken and kochi, but have mixed and matched almost every bibimbap possible and loved them all! The hot stone bowl is great in cold weather especially. If you haven't tried this place, you need to pencil it into your schedule for SOON. read more
