Mac n Cheese w/ blackened chicken
    Joey S.

Ordered Brussels Sprouts and Mac n Cheese w/ blackened chicken. Brussels sprouts were great. But it went downhill from there. Mac n Cheese has almost no cheese. Chicken is not blackened at all. Not to mention, there is less than 1.5oz of chicken. And you charged an extra $6 dollars for chicken that's not blackened and not even a full serving of chicken (4-6oz would be reasonable) May try again, but I've seen lots of other poor reviews also around quality of food. If I try again, I'll add another review.

The food here definitely did not disappoint. The scotch eggs were perfectly cooked, which is not easy to do. The fish and chips were wonderful as well. The fry on the fish was perfect, nicely seasoned. The service was incredible. Everybody was super nice and had good knowledge of the menu. The patio is the place for lunch on a pretty day.

One of the best places in town to get a high quality meal with a down-to-earth feel! The restaurant supports local farms, local and seasonal ingredients, and has a seasonal menu. So every 3-4 months the menu changes (with a few solid staples remaining the same). Always a great time and good food! After traveling abroad to Scotland in 2019, this is the go-to for the best British/Scottish food in Springfield. Anytime I'm craving, this is where I go! This last time I went to Farmers Gastropub, I ordered a scotch egg, cream of mushroom soup, and fish & chips with peas. The Scotch Egg is perfect every time. Crispy sausage outside, perfectly cooked egg on the inside, and the mustard and relish is always divine. 5/5 stars. This was the first time I tried the cream of mushroom soup. Very savory, but also slightly tangy. The mushrooms were very well blended and not noticeable at all with texture (a bummer for me, but for others I'm sure that's welcome news). 4/5 stars. As always, the Fish and Chips never fails. Crispy battered fish, freshly cut fries, and perfectly cooked peas. The fries automatically come with ketchup - a big no-no across the pond, but here it's standard. You are given the choice of vinegar or tartar sauce. All things considered it is the fish that shines. 5/5 stars. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. And the vibe is casual, homey, and friendly. Everything you want out of a pub. Overall 5/5 stars and I'll for sure be back.

The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!

Sat in a comfy table with a padded pew close to the bar with our backs to the wall, which instantly put my hyper vigilant husband at ease (IYKUK). Chatted a bit with our kind server who was also a millennial, how do I know this? The eye contact and lovely snarky conversation. My husband ordered his med rare, which probably came out more med and not enough pink for his liking. Correction on my part, I got the mahi mahi with parmesan grits and green beans and I didn't even need to look at my pictures to recall, it was that memorable of a meal. Being early January a parking spot nearby was an easy find, I imagine though finding one come spring will feel like a miracle. I'd love to stay at the attached hotel but found it's already booked a year out. Doesn't surprise me, the old English charm with its stone and dark wood is straight up story book.

LOUD AF on a Tuesday night with incredibly slow service…read more I like to eat in local places while we're on the road. Read about this place being historic with a beautiful bar and lovely tin ceiling. And that is all true. Walked in and could not believe how loud the single singer with an acoustic guitar was. There was a sound engineer, working a board, so he must've thought that level was OK. But you could not have a conversation at all. I was wishing for earplugs. When we first stepped in, I considered just looking at the carved mahogany bar and going somewhere else. But, we figured it should be fast and we could endure the cacophony for a short time. We were so wrong about it being fast. There was only one wait staff working that night, and she was also behind the bar. When she finally moseys over to us, she admitted she had forgotten all about us. She then took our drink order, and the drinks came quickly. But then she literally never came back to take a food order. Watched her go to all the other tables, watched her clean off the bar, watched her answer a phone call for a takeout order, and then I finally went up to the bar and asked her if we could put in a food order. Once the food was ordered it came out quickly. My husband's smashburger and candied pecan salad were both really delicious. I am a sucker for a local food item whenever I see it on the menu, and I made the mistake of ordering the cashew chicken poutine. The cashew sauce had zero flavor and was just overly salty. The chicken was fried very tough. At least the cheese curds were good. But I barely ate any of it. Nothing but regret about this choice.
