I got the Korean buffalo wings and the kamikaze fries! The Kamikaze fries have a bulgogi like meat, special sauce, kimchi, and green onions on waffle fries. It's so good! But both dishes were super flavorful and umami. I think the only critique I had is that the wings could probably be a little bit crispier. I've been here a few times but haven't had time to write a review for this place. I really like their beer bowls. It's a lot of food! Comes with rice, mixed greens, been and kimchi. They also put on too their special sauce that's a little spicy kick. So if you don't like that make sure to ask for it on the side. You can also substitute for brown rice at no extra cost! I've tried this and the vegetarian bowl too. I'm not too big of a fan for the vegetarian bowl. But the beef bowl is pretty tasty. I don't feel so bad when there's greens in my meal. I would give the food a 4, used to be a 5 before Covid but seems their ingredients have gone way downhill and the meat is now gristly. However, service is like 1 star. The people working the register are usually friendly, but the order taking process is painfully slow as it seems to take them a million button presses for each order even tho it's just a combo off the menu, and they seem to make a lot of errors and have to do a lot of reorders. Then it takes them like 20 minutes to make the food even tho they're not busy. Deciding on lunch at Valley Fair is always such a struggle. First you entertain the idea of Ramen Nagi, until you see the line. Then you see the excitement of the bouge food court, but there are too many options. And you also remember all the dessert and boba options, and you wonder if you should just get a snack. I've been trying to be healthy lately so I wandered towards Loving Hut vegan Chinese food, but I noticed Koja right next door was cheaper. Koja's menu is nice and simple, consisting mainly of their signature Koja (a burger, except with "buns" made of garlicky fried rice in a bun shape), bowls (rice and mixed greens), and sides (most well known for the Kamikaze fries, which is essentially kBBQ with lots of sauces over waffle fries). They also have other items which in my opinion are a bit random and only remotely fit the Korean-Japanese (hence the name Koja!) fusion theme: spam musubi, wings, a fried chicken sandwich, taco ahi tuna salad... but hey why not. I like the bowl because it has a little bit of everything, including fresh crisp mixed greens. The kBBQ is a notch below Gen and other kBBQ restaurants, but it makes a satisfying lunch. You get a side of kimchi too, along with furikake seasoned rice, and the flavors come together nicely. The portion size was just right; no big risk of food coma but no being hungry either. I've had the Koja before too which is unique and delicious, but I think it's somewhat small (and if you add fries, it's too much food... one of those times when a significant other comes in handy for getting your food order right!) The total was ~$10, the food was efficiently prepared, and the seating area is beautiful. My only comment is that I noticed one of the employees preparing food wasn't wearing a mask--which I know isn't necessarily a requirement nowadays, and I'm vaccinated, but it still feels odd to me. The verdict? Koja is a solid option for a lunch at the mall, although I think I should make an effort to switch it up every time I come to the mall. read more

The name "KOJA" is actually a fusion of Korean and Japanese cuisine which the two first letters are derived from. They offer a delicious Asian twist to traditional foods like burger, bowls, wings, and fries. What's so unique about this place is the bun that they use on their burgers, which is made from garlic fried rice and shaped to look like a burger bun. Everything on the menu looked good, but my curiosity got the best of me and I had to try their koja burgers. I went with chicken ($7.50) and originial beef koja ($8.95). Both meats were cooked Korean bbq style and sandwiched between two rice buns. The burgers were good and sauce was well integrated into the beef and super flavorful. I enjoyed light crisp texture of the rice on the outside and softness inside, marries nicely with all the ingredients. I do agree that it does get messy when you bite into them. Half way into my burger, the rice started to fall apart and I was in fork mode. The rice burger aren't that big and if you have a big appetite, it will cost you $18 for two rice burgers which I paid for. The food itself is not disappointing at all. I had beef rice bowl, with salad and kimchi on the side. However I feel that they need to give more kimchi portion, I feel the kimchi was too little. We used to go to the location on Brokaw and were bummed when they closed it down. This location is in the Westfield Valley Fair food court which has fewer options now that they remodeled. I also noticed this location has higher prices. One of my faves is the Kamikazi fries but the challenge is that they are currently doing take out only. The fries are topped so they should be eaten quickly to avoid sogginess. The original Koja is my husbands fave because it is a burger with an Asian twist. I love that the food doesn't taste greasy. The koja burgers were good and even thought they look small, they're super filling! My friend and I agreed and were like "lol we didnt even need the fries". I really enjoyed this place! Been here three times in the past two weeks as I work nearby part time! The Koja Ahi tuna bowl is the staple and preferred dish in addition to the Kobe sandwich. You get a generous amount of fresh spring salad mixed with your ahi and eda beans. The music is really for young folk!! Lol . I also read on another review that there's the option to substitute brown for white rice...wish we were told about that option when we ordered!
