Assorted Summer rolls

Catered delivery! Friendly service. Delicious food. The presentation of the summer rolls were pretty and included labels for the variety.

Too Good To Go
Jack L.

I got a Too Good To Go meal at Koja Kitchen on Friday night , March 28, 2025. Total cost including tax was a little over $6 which would make this a great deal. Keep reading. In it, there was fried rice, French fries, some spring mix salad, some chicken pieces, and if you look at my photos, there's HALF a shredded Egg Roll. It's not a clean cut half egg roll. It's shredded in half! I took photos of both sides of the half shredded eggroll. The other half was NOT in this container box. I'm like... what??? I don't know why the eggroll wasn't CUT in half. Because seeing a half shredded egg roll to me, looks like someone took a bite of the egg roll, and didn't want the other half. Nasty. This may not be the case, it just looks like that. I rather get the eggroll that's a full eggroll or I rather they didn't include this half eggroll that looks like someone took a bite from it. I'm a germaphobe and I decided to not eat the box because of that half shredded egg roll. I really home that wasn't someone's discarded eggroll and Koja Kitchen decided to place it in my Too Good To Go order. I rather not have that eggroll at all to begin with.

Short Rib KoJa (w/ pineapple)

I found out of Koja kitchen through their excellent food trucks. I'm a huge fan of the unique rice buns and how it can create a "burger" and yet be its own thing. My short rib with pineapple was juicy but wasn't overly saucy. I've been enjoying this yummy place for quite sometime and I highly recommend both the short rib AND the teriyaki zen.

Perfect place for a delicious lunch, quick take out etc. Small space with limited seating in and out but the food makes it all worthwhile. Japanese/ Korean Asian fusion with super fresh ingredients, friendly staff and prompt service. We had Ahi tuna bowls that were delicious, fresh ingredients, nicely sauced, including seaweed salad and a crazy good imitation crab salad. Nice that they offer both brown and white rice.

First time since they moved to this location. I went with the Ahi Tuna Salad - mixed greens topped with crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, and spicy ahi. Everything tasted pretty fresh and it was quite filling.

Signage of KoJa Kitchen & the Yellow awning of Little Vietnam Cafe!
Russell H.

While strolling through the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco on Clement Street...tucked away on 6th Avenue I came upon an awning in Bright Yellow that had "Little Vietnam Cafe" scripted on it...and then if you look up you too will see a sign for "Kojo Kitchen"...with a little bit of searching I discovered that both of these establishments are swished together in one kitchen...(talk about smart business practices). Anyhow I was thinking about ordering some Vietnamese cuisine but I was diverted to the KoJa Kitchen menu...I asked the friendly guy behind the cash register what he liked and he asked me which menu...I replied with KoJa Kitchen...I then asked what dish he would recommend for my first order and he replied try the "Beef Bowl"...I said lets go for it and along with that I ordered their Strawberry Mango Mint Lemonade. When my order arrived (quick I might add) I was pleased with their Beef Bowl which I ordered with Brown Rice but along with that it came with just the right amount of Kim Chee, the Beef was marinated with a sprinkling of Sesame Seed, and finally Salad greens...I would call this dish a well balanced meal!!! The Lemonade was a bit sweet but it went well with my meal. So to sum up my experience with KoJa Kitchen they deserve a 5 Star Rating. I sat inside and ate my meal on their counter facing 6th Avenue. There is seating outside but it was a bit chilly..."Karl decided to show up but he is a huge welcome because of the HOT Spell weather we just experienced"!!!

Umami Fries, Short Rib Koja, Ahi Tuna Bowl, Short Rib Bowl, Beef Koja
Sarah L.

Delicious fusion food! My favorite was the Umami Fries; probably the best fries I've ever had. The Koja was dry and not my cup of tea; the garlic rice was hard to eat. I still think the Kojas are worth a try though! The bowls were very delicious. I would totally come here again just for the Umami Fries; the pork on it was to die for. The ordering process was a little confusing as I didn't know we had to go the cashier to order, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. Solid restaurant!

The coconut braised pork koja. Like the filling.

Recently had lunch here. We dined in. Special note: As of right now, 9/7/2021, you will need to show your vax card to eat inside all restaurants in San Francisco, including the semi-outdoor areas. If it's outside dining, no need to show proof of vax. Back to regular review: We had the short rib bowl and Kamikaze (bbq beef) bowl. Both tasted too sweet. My Hb thought his special menu order of the Kamikaze bowl was overrated. It's too sweet, too much sauce, nothing really special about it according to him. I didn't eat his bowl, but I feel the same about my bowl--way too sweet. Like they used too much sugar to compensate for flavor. I used to really like Koja, so this is really disappointing.

Umami Fries
Cheri L.

Koja Kitchen is a great stop for some asian fusion snacks! They have things on their menu like rice burgers, bowls, and tacos. My order was the Umami Fries which includes Crisscut waffle fries, miso-coconut braised pork, red sauce, garlic aioli, green onions, masago, fried onions. The flavors were perfect enough to satisfy my comfort food needs. The pork was soft, but did have a couple of fatty piecesin there (not for me, but good if you like that). Ordering is walk up, and they have cups of water available. Napkins and ketchup and a bit in the back near the soda machine. It didn't seem like there was indoor dining but their outdoor seating is nice, more of like a patio situation. Overall, a good place to stop by for a bite if you're craving for some unique food in the area.

Ahi tuna bowl w/white rice
Marie R.

I've been to this Koja Kitchen as well as their other locations and food truck for awhile now, so this review is long overdue. We always get the kamikaze fries no matter the location. It's the right amount of spice, meat, sauce, and fries. They're always consistent no matter the location so that's a huge plus. This time around, my husband and I both got the ahi tuna bowl along with our fries. We both found the bowl to be delicious and very filling. Since there are not many poké places around the Richmond district, it's nice to have this dish to fulfill that craving. In the past, we've had their kojas and tacos as well. All were really good. This location and its staff are usually really chill. If you get it to -go at an off hour, expect your food to be ready in 5-10 minutes. During high peak times, they usually take an average of 15 minutes.

The satay was super good, but again, left us wanting more. Only 1 small skewer of beef and chicken. The garlic noodles were good, but a tad bit dryer than I'd like. The Bo Kho dumplings were beautifully presented and tasted like Bo Kho. Probably my favorite thing I ate during the night! However, both Bo Kho and dumplings individually are not expensive items. So to put a $25 price tag for only 4 dumplings, it definitely feels a bit hard to justify getting it again for the price. That theme felt pretty much the same throughout the night. All of the dishes were decent and were presented nicely, but nothing I tasted made me go "wow, I need more of this". Crab was fresh, but nothing amazing was done to it that a fresh crab from another restaurant could not emulate. Service was attentive for the most part, and the ambiance of the restaurant is top notch. Don't think I'd come back again for a while personally. Nonetheless, if you're just here for the vibes and maybe a drink with a date/colleague, then this is a solid spot!

Came here with a group of friends for a New Year's Eve dinner!…read more The service was great, as the servers were attentive and checked up on us fairly often. The restaurant closes at 9:30pm, and they were kind enough to let us stay until then! I also enjoyed the ambiance - the interior was quite beautiful, and had many floral decorations, which I enjoyed. For food, I got the hot stone pot, which comes with minced pork and prawns. The dish was not only delicious but also was a large portion size. The rice was crispy on the bottom, and it was nice that the server mixed the dish for me on the table. I would definitely come back to try other dishes! One of my friends got the Pad Kee Mow, and she also very much enjoyed her dish, agreeing that it was delicious and that the noodles were perfectly chewy! I got the French 75 as a drink, and it was very good as well! Overall, I would definitely come back, especially to try the brunch, which I've heard many good things about! Truly a 10/10 experience!

I would describe the ambiance as "modern cherry blossom" with it's tall ceilings and pop music to boot. I had the popcorn chicken appetizer - very crispy and tasty with the five spice outer coating. It would have been nice to have had a few more vegetables thrown in, especially the broccoli as I counted just a couple of pieces. I did like the tofu although I felt there could have been more and a bit more tender. They could totally redo the front patio dining area as I think it would draw more customers in. If it had not been for my friend recommending this spot, I would have walked by. Overall the customer service was good and I would come back to try other dishes - I'd say the popcorn chicken was my favorite.

Hard review to write. Probably more of a 3.5 review rounded up…read more Jump to service if you want to get into the main reason why. Quality/Quantity - We had a large group, thank you for accommodating. I believe we made reservations, where we would not be seated until everyone showed up. Good thing the group all showed up on time (for once, lol). Ordered the following for our table, our other table had our larger half of the group. But due to the door mishap, I did not want to walk over to take pictures of their food/order. Okonomiyaki Fries - Was too soggy for me, but everyone else on our table enjoyed it. Popcorn Salmon - I did not enjoy this, but everyone else on both tables loved it, so it was "a me problem." Boneless Fried Chicken - I enjoyed it, but no one else did?!?! I guess I have very different tastes from this group...? Tonkatsu Ramen - Good. But very basic. Beef Short Rib Plate - Three orders, both people enjoyed it. Actually, our young eater ate 1.5 of this plate, 1/2 from his mom's order. This order also came with a side salad and steamed rice. Bulgogi Plate - I can't remember if I got my rice?!?! Well, the beef was of decent quantity, I actually brought a little back home for leftovers, with the boneless fried chicken. At home, it was a little too salty, too much soy sauce. Sizzling Bibimbap - My daughter's dish which was also good. I believe she had leftovers. Our other table got the regular bibimbap, they said next time they will try the sizzling as they felt that was better. Lastly, our guest on the other table ordered one of each dessert for both tables. Mango Panna Cotta & Chocolate Tartufo - I am not a chocolate person, but enjoyed the Tartufo better. Our guest wanted Soju! The first time, so we ended up ordering two hot larges. Smooth and went down too easily. I then finished my meal with a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. Boy I miss this beer, I have not had in a while. Too busy supporting local breweries. Overall, the food was just okay for me and my daughter. Ambiance - Outside looks good, and new. Love the menus and the happy hour information. Might come back for HH. Small local restaurant. A few tables and bar seating. Clean restrooms, two unisex. Street metered parking, free after 6pm. Plenty of street parking. Service - Okay, the front door has issues... It stays open, then does NOT close. It is slanted, so you have to "force" it to close. When we ALL got here, I guess we left the front door open by accident. Well, the waitress did NOT appreciate that (I stayed outside taking my Yelp pictures while everyone else walked in). She gave me a LOOK... While I was still outside, more people came in and I tried to close the door for them and because the door is slanted, it did not close and had to be "forced" resulting in a slam, sorry. Got another look... After that, I went straight to my seat. Menus on the table. Price - Expensive, or did we order too much? I think our bill with tax and tip came out to almost $800. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2017; look forward to trying your happy hour.

The quail came in a hot plate where they then proceed to flambee it with some lemon and pepper. The chicken lollipops were piping hot and worth a try. All were about a 4/5. We also ordered the Garlic Roasted crab and it was huge. It came on top of a plate of buttery and garlicky noodles. Cooked perfectly and plenty to go around. Green bean and spinach in an egg drop slurry round out our meal with some vegetables. The highlight of the night was the Lao Mei Rice. The pork tenderloin in there was 6/5. Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.
