This place is right next to my work and honestly, its a hit or miss with this restaurant. I always get their kamikaze fries with extra meat and mayo-SOMETIMES they do it, and sometimes they don't. And I don't usually mind paying extra for the "protein" but they usually put very little of the meat and sauce in it. Also, a few times, I have had orders where the fries were either overly done or stale so beware and always check your order. The Soy garlic wings are really good! A bit pricey for like 5 pieces of wings but the sauce makes up for it. read more

Was looking for a fast bite to eat and found this order and seat yourself style restaurant. Was told to get the Original KoJa sandwich by the cashier because it is their specialty. Also got a beef taco for variety. It took a very long time to get food which is the main reason for the deduction of a star. It was worth the wait! Been wanting to try this place for awhile now, as I have heard nothing but good reviews from their truck and Alameda brick and mortar. Was happy that they opened up another b&m in Dublin. Was running errands on a Friday morning and on my way back home, I decided to stop by KJK to grab some lunch. It was around 11:30, so I thought I was going to beat the lunch crowd. Got to the place only to find that everyone else had the same idea, as there was no parking to be found. Lots of mixed stores around, anchored by Nordstrom Rack and Whole Foods across the street. Was about to give up, but fortunately i found one after about a ten minute drive back and forth. Made my way into the restaurant and it was not crowded at all. There were people eating and just another person in front. So don't be scared off by the crowded parking lot, the people are probably elsewhere in the mall... Ordered a ahi tuna bowl and kamikaze fries to go, but for some reason the gentleman taking my order thought I said "Chicken bowl". I caught it when I saw the price on the iPad. I mentioned that I wanted an "Ahi tuna bowl", and he repeated, "Chicken Bowl"? Anyhoo, after that brief Abbot and Costello routine, I was able to correctly order and pay...The wait was less than 10 minutes and I was good to go. Got home, opened up the Ahi Bowl and saw a good helping of rice, imitation crab, salad, seaweed and tuna....Uh, but there was something missing...The salmon sashimi..... :( Big boo on this....I wasn't going to go back hunt for a space for a few pieces of salmon sashimi....Opened up the wasabi sauce and poured it over the greens and tuna and put a little bit of the soy sauce over the rice and crab. The wonton crisps were crispy and once mixed up with the salad, it was very good and kept its' crunch. Everything was very good, the imitation crab was not too creamy the seaweed and salad were tasty and the tuna was fresh. Was disappointed that there was no salmon, but next time I go, I'll double check before I leave or just eat there.....The kamikaze fries were pretty good, not too soggy from the ride home. Didn't taste the kimchi, but it did have plenty of beef and green onions. Overall pretty decent, would've given it at least a half star more if it wasn't for the missing major ingredient in my bowl. Greeted when I walked in the door and was walked through the menu when I stated that it was my first visit, which was great. Upon the cashier's recommendation of the most popular items, I ordered "The Original" Koja and Kamikaze Fries. Service was fast... had my food in a few minutes. Koja Burger - fun gimmick that falls flat at the end. The meat had good flavor. A bit on the sweet side in line with what you would expect out of Korean BBQ, but that is it. That is where the flavor train stopped. The menu has the ingredients as Korean BBQ short ribs, sesame vinaigrette lettuce, katsu aoli and sesame seeds. The vinaigrette needed more vinegar to give that pop of freshness the dish needed and it just didn't have it. The result was just wet lettuce. Never found the aoli sauce so either not there or unremarkable. I found myself wishing for a slaw for some crunch and burst of flavor. A note on delivery, the Koja burger is served with rice patties as the bun. Fun concept, but the idea falls apart (literally) once it comes time to unwrap the paper to get past the first couple bites. I would like to see this served with an edible wrapper (seaweed, soy paper, etc...) so I can just eat through it and maintain the experience. By the end of my Koja Burger experience I wanted a mulligan and order the bowl instead. Kamikaze Fries - Delicious. I will have to try their other fry options. These fries came with mince Korean BBQ meat, kimchi, Japanese mayo, red sauce and green onions. The only thing that was off to me was the kimchi was minced so it seemed more like spicy tuna I would get on a poke bowl. Regardless the flavor showed up and there was multiple layers. I brought ketchup to the table and didn't use it... very good sign. I was worried I would run out of topping before I got through the fries but that fear never materialized into reality. Not only that, their online ordering experience is hidden under locations so it's not that clear. Also, the ordering experience is not that great. I'm always excited to try places that have evolved from successful food trucks! Glad KoJa expanded to Dublin. I love the creativity and novelty of their dishes (especially the hamburger patties made from rice)! Overall, this place is popular, has very friendly (counter-order) service with great execution. However, the flavors are not my fave. Perhaps I am not ordering the right dishes, so I will come back and try other things from their menu. The short rib bowl was good, as was the original KoJa chicken burger and kamikaze fries. However, the flavors were ALL sticky-sweet-spicy. I would have appreciated more diversity in flavors (maybe not make EVERYTHING so sweet and spicy?) Maybe I'll try their fish salad next time to see if that's more up my alley. I've had several friends drag me to Korean restaurants over the last few years, and I have to admit I just didn't like Korean food. That all changed with my recent trip to KoJa Kitchen. My wife and I DoorDashed it, she got the tacos, I got the Original and we shared kamikaze fries. Each of these items on their own would've been enough to keep me coming back, but to have three amazing items is something really special. The original was really flavorful, and not too spicy; the kamikaze fries were pretty darn spicy but painfully addictive; and the tacos were equally great. Some may complain about the price, however, it's just as expensive as going to someplace like the Cheesecake Factory. But at KoJa, your food and flavors are far superior to the typical national or regional chain primarily offered in the tri-Valley. Quality costs money, so prepare to pay if that's what you want. This was my 2nd time trying koja kitchen 1st at the San Jose location and now the Dublin one. I fell in love with it all over. There are a few more locations in the bay area and their trucks are at some of the big food festival. They offer a great spin of Asian fusion food with solid taste. We got a bit of everything. The original koja, short rib bowl, Zen taco and umami fries. The Zen options are vegetarian and still taste amazing. Everything is reasonably priced and you get a good amount of food. It was plenty for our party of 2. We will come back when we're in the bay. read more

FUSION to go. It Was my first experience at KoJa. The meats were tender and flavorful. And the Crispy Rice Buns on the KoJa were very delicious. I ordered the kamikaze fries thanks to the YELP reviews. So glad I did. They were pretty Good. But I was over them about halfway through. I did love the settle spiciness. It was well needed. I also order 3 different tacos. All the ingredients in each taco went well together. Definitely unique. I did feel like the double corn tortillas over powered the flavors and dried out the tacos. My least favorite was the braised pork. Delivery was faster than expected. My opinion is that this food is probably better if eaten at the establishment. Koja is one of my favorites. Fast service and the food is amazing as always. I love their tacos and fries. My boyfriend loved the new crispy chicken sandwich. I got the miso chicken taco and the Korean bbq beef taco. We ordered umami fries and kamikaze fries. Honestly way too much food but we got to try different variations of food. This place has pretty good food. It's a little pricey and the portions are small, but the flavors more than make up for it. Plus, the food is really rich so you'll be full and satisfied after you're done. I have tried both the Teriyaki Zen Koja and the Zen bowl. I personally prefer the bowls, because the Kojas fall apart easily. However, the flavors are almost identical between and the bowls and Kojas. It's nice that they include both on their menu so you can choose based on how you prefer to eat your food. The staff, for the most part, does there job well. There is one particular employee who served me during my last visit that I wanted to shout out. He was a tall Asian man who was super friendly when dealing with an issue I had with my order. Overall, I think KoJa serves good food. It's pretty fresh and delivers on being creative in its asian fusion. Personally, anything with the rice buns are awesome (frankly, if they'd just sell me the rice buns themselves I'd eat those all day). My reason for the three stars is for a few reasons: 1. Parking is NOT great for the area. It can be really a nuisance around lunch time and early dinner, but fortunately they're open long enough during hours where it's less of a nuisance. 2. Their meat is particularly sweet. All of them. I have tried a few of the dishes at this point and while some of the sauces are supposed to be like that, I'm thrown off when I get it off the marinade of a meat. It's not too bad for most, but when I'm trying to look for alternatives, there are none. 3. Food does not keep well. I've ordered takeout twice and felt like I did not get the same "effect" of what I was expecting than if I'd eaten it on the spot. Not sure if that's because of the packaging, but I'm mostly sure it was because I didn't expect the dishes at the time to already alter by the time I got home from my 5 minute drive home. I highly recommend eating there in person. 4. Wait times for food are a bit longer. Granted, at least it's fresh, but I'm not sure I've waited that long for similar dishes other than this restaurant before. I'll be honest with y'all, this place blows my mind. Let me break this down into 2 separate reviews. One being for the food, the other for the service So firstly, the food is amazing. I don't think they have a single menu item I wouldn't get into an entanglement with. The braised pork Koja is my favorite, however the original does come in a close second. The kamikaze fries are no joke either, they're phenomenal. Sometimes I think about them when I space out. All in all, food is unbelievably great. Now did the service. I don't know how a place can have such mouth watering food but such McDonald's level service. Actually I take that back, McDonald's has better service. Don't get me wrong if the owner (or what I'm assuming is the owner) is there, then your meal will be perfect and you'll have a delightful experience on all ends. However if he isn't there, expect longer waits than expected, food that isn't what you ordered, or just plain rude treatment. I get it, with COVID people are short staffed and things can get crazy if there's a rush. The first time my order was messed up there was a rush, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The next time I went, there was not a single soul there, I still waited an extra 15 minutes than when they said it would be ready and my food was once again wrong. I called and they gave me a refund. I decided, hey I still like looks and didn't want to give a bad review in these times so didn't say anything. However, after this second time we go once more and this time was the final straw. I ordered my food and 20 minute later showed up. I told the last working what the name was and she disappeared. No one reappeared for another 15-20 minutes when another customer showed up. When that customer appeared and she told them her name, they immediately went to the back and got her food and only then proceeded to ask me the name on my order again and then finally get me my food, cold.
