I am not a connoisseur of Indian food in any way - I've eaten at Bombay House in Provo once and ate a catered meal by an another Indian restaurant, so my experience with the food is obviously limited. That being said, I know when food is good. My only complaint is that the service was very slow because there was only one server. Granted there were only a few tables seated, but it was dinner time, and I'd have expected at least one more server helping. I might have been hyperaware of this, as well, because my best friend and I were in a bit of a time crunch. We shared the Kohinoor Snacks (vegetable samosa, onion bhaji, chicken pakora, and vegetable pakora), and he was kind enough to let me take a few sips of his mango lassi, which was INCREDIBLE. For our entrees, he ordered the Novratan Kurma and naan, and I ordered the Chicken Briyani and garlic naan. The appetizer was really delicious and rather plentiful - there were two of everything except for the samosa, and they were all so well seasoned and delicious. Their tamarind sauce was very good as well (I'm not a mint sauce fan personally). The Novratan Kurma was really excellent - in my opinion a must-have when dining here. It's extremely full of flavor and a little bit sweet. My Briyani was very good (I asked for it to be mild to medium, and it was just spicy enough to be enjoyable for me), but I'd probably only order it again if I were out with a non-vegetarian friend who would share dishes family style. The prices were a little on the high side, but for the quantity and quality, they're worth it. We each had a LOT of leftovers afterward and had to skip the Peshawari Naan for dessert (sad face). read more

Wish there was the option to give a 4.5 or even a 4.9. Excellent service. Food was excellent. Nothing but small nitpicks to complain about. Music not my taste, and I wish I could had just a few more seconds to peruse all of the delicacies on the menu. But small complaints all around. Hope they continue to grow and succeed. I went here once for a work lunch. It was nice because the lunch special allows you to have small portions of multiple entrees. The service was a bit slow at times and yet we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food itself was pretty yummy. I'd say the quality of this food is less than other Indian restaurants in the area, but it's also not as expensive. But it was still delicious. It's nice that this restaurant is in a convenient situation. Another plus is that it's open during lunch, unlike other Indian restaurants around here. I'd recommend it, but maybe a little timidly to an Indian food snob. read more

If you like good Indian food you want to eat here. This placed far surpassed my expectations. They had a killer lunch option for $10. I got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb karahi. The entire lunch special comes with a couple sides and a sweet coconut dish. It was just the right amount and was super scrumptious. I loved every bite and will be back for more! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Kohinoor yet. I've been coming here since 2016 and good grief if it isn't one of my favorite places to eat. The food is incredible quality. Their lunch specials are generous, and their main entrees are incredible. In this area it gets compared often to Bombay House, and I would consider both of these places to be on par. Both have phenomenal food, great service, and great ambience. You cannot go wrong ordering the Chicken Tikka Masala. That's the best dish for anyone unsure of whether they like Indian food. My 5 year old absolutely loves it, and it's hard to find food he loves beyond mac and cheese, so that's saying something. There are other delicious dishes as well, although I have a hard time picking anything other than the Chicken Tikka Masala. Usually my wife gets something different and I steal some of hers. Kohinoor comes VERY highly recommended by me. If you've never tried Indian food, this is the place to try it. An absolute must-go location for lunch or dinner or takeout. read more

New Year's Eve. My wife and I arrived early (5:40) to beat the rush - only two other tables occupied when we got there. Placed our order in a few minutes, and then waited and waited. More tables filled in; no food arrived. After 30 minutes, the lone waiter came and brought plates and utensils, and said the kitchen had been bogged down with call-in orders. (Shouldn't customers in the restaurant have priority??) After 50 minutes, a second waiter finally came and said there had been some confusion with our order. What was it we wanted? We had noticed that not a single other seated customer had been given food either, in the time we were there. He said he could get it to us in 5 or 10 minutes. We got up and walked out, telling a few other "diners" on the way how long we had waited and wishing them luck. I've never been so annoyed in a restaurant. Grrrrr read more

This is one our favorite places. The food is amazing, service is always ultra fast, and it's cheaper than Bombay. Just recently we came and my wife ordered her for a little spicier than she normally does and it turned out to be too spicy for her. Please don't come here...my boyfriend and I ate here for dinner last night and both felt so incredibly sick afterwards all night. In addition to us feeling miserable afterwards... Taste of food: subpar given the price you're paying. The Indian food tastes as something you'd buy at some fast food restaurant. The basmati rice consistency was sticky resembling Asian Jasmine rice. The curries in the chicken tikka masala and lamb saag were not great. And the chicken itself was dry. I cannot explain how much I love this Indian restaurant! From the moment you walk in the door there will be staff waiting to assist you the whole way until you walk out the door. I strongly suggest ordering the malai kofta, it is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy with perfectly fried veggie balls! Ordered to go and picked up food last night. We tried the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb kebab korma and some garlic naan. We did the spice level medium and the butter chicken was noticeably hotter than the lamb. Flavors were excellent and they gave us plenty of delicious rice too. I read a review that there was a cockroach on someone's table... and I believe it. I went there to eat last night with my fiancé. First of all rude service, our food was cold and done way too quickly. Almost like it was preheated quickly. Once we got the food it was bland, no flavor, watery. We were disappointed. AND THEN we got home and a few hours later that night. I was puking 4-5 times. & then my fiancé started puking. It's 11am the next morning & we still have food poisoning. NEVER GO HERE. I ate the same dish (chicken saag) at all 3 of the indian restaurants near provo. This one was not bad, but in my opinion the least good. The flavors seemed less subtle, which made the dish seem a lot more heavy. Plus im not 100% sure my chicken was cooked completely through. The service was just ok. Not because of any shortcomings by my server, he was fine, the problem was that he was the only server working... during dinner service. As a result things were a little slow. To top it off, of the three indian restaurants in the area, kohinoor had the highest prices. not by much, but higher. read more

We go fairly often to Kohinnor and have never been disappointed. The saag shorba soup was the newest that we tried and was very good. Their tandoori options are good, the briyani is very good and they have the best naan. Their service is sometimes iffy but we've found it's usually just one of their servers (who isn't rude, just kind of abrupt about ordering). Their prices are very reasonable and they have a lot of vegetarian options that are just as good as the meat versions. read more

We had a group of 6 for some of them it was the first time. My wife and I are Indian Food lovers and we tried every where we go. The ambience the music the service and the food was amazing. We where so comfortable there talking that they had to come to us and tell us that they where about to close. We spend a good 2.5 hours. We order a little bit of everything. From the Mix Kabob made in the tandoori to the different chicken dishes ( butter chicken, tikka Massala) and the lamb coconut Karma. The rice and the naan where also great. We will be back for sure. In a word - fantastic. The food was delicious and made to order which means you can customize the level of spiciness, a huge plus in a group with picky eaters and there was more than enough to share. The service was prompt, polite & not overly friendly or intrusive; that being said, we went on a Wednesday night and the place was practically empty so I can't speak as to how fast the service is on busy nights.
