However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

Around 3:50, while we were actively eating and drinking, a woman arrived with two companions and asked us to move our seats so they could sit together. There were plenty of available tables elsewhere in the restaurant. I politely declined with a simple, "No, thank you." The woman became indignant, called me a "rude little shit," moved an empty barstool into the walkway, and proceeded to glare at us. She then involved the hostess, Mimi, who came over and asked us to move ourselves, our food, and our drinks to accommodate this woman's preferred seating arrangement. I politely declined again. A restaurant cannot control every rude patron, but it absolutely controls how its staff responds. Instead of allowing established guests to finish their meals undisturbed, the hostess chose to intervene on behalf of someone whose conduct had already made the experience deeply uncomfortable. My partner became so uncomfortable that even finishing our meal was unpleasant. After years of supporting Tommy Bahama restaurants and purchasing its merchandise, this was an exceptionally disappointing experience. Hospitality should not mean inconveniencing respectful, paying customers to appease someone making unreasonable demands. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this location and have no intention of returning.

We left the island for a few months and were disappointed they replaced the cauliflower burger with an eggplant burger. Tonight we gave it a chance. When it came to our table I cut it in half to find a grey patty, not appealing to the eye. The texture was not pleasant either. We have a large family ready and willing to try vegan options at any restaurants on Maui. The things that will bring us back is Happy Hour, drinks, the Brussel Sprouts that are the best I've ever tasted and they brought back a salad we can enjoy, as well. I do wish they'd offer a plant based burger without black beans. There are many options available to restaurants now that you could throw into the freezer to offer to us non meat eaters and keep us coming back. We're ready to support this great place. Service - Good, the lady bartender was the best!!! We watched a little of the game together and had some small talk. The male bartender was no nonsense. Price - $48 + tip. I got another beer only because my wife wanted us to hit the $50 mark so we can get $10 off at their upcountry location. Let's see if they will honor this receipt. A couple dishes really stood out; the poke tacos was excellent, the kalua pork & pineapple was amazing and by far my favorite dish (which is half-off during happy hour, resulting in subsequent happy hour trips), and the strawberry cream pie which was delicious. The dishes I had which could have been better included both the organic macadamia nut crusted fresh fish and the fresh caught fish tacos; they served mahi mahi the night we went, and both were "okay," but I've had ample better of both dishes at other establishments in Maui, and especially at these really high prices -- I'd recommend going to a better spot for these dishes instead. I found the monkeypod mai tai to also just be "okay"; can definitely find better mai tai's on the island. So at the end of the day, I concluded that the main dishes and cocktails weren't really worth it, but discovered that they service 50% off of appetizers and pizza during happy hours, so I would definitely recommend visiting during happy hours.

My wife and I and opted for the Dry-Aged New York Strip from the WesholmeRanch AUS. Let me tell you, it was cooked to absolute perfection. The New York Strip was cooked precisely to my requested medium-rare, boasting a beautiful sear on the outside and a juicy, tender interior that practically melted on the tongue. The New York Strip was equally impressive, its intense flavor and buttery texture a testament to the quality of the Wagyu beef. But Koast servers more than just exceptional steak. The sides were equally impressive. The Ravioli pasta itself was silky smooth and perfectly al dente, with a subtle egg flavor. It held its shape well, a testament to its freshness. The star of the show, was the filling was the braised Wagyu beef cheek, was melt-in-your-mouth tender and incredibly rich. The flavor was deeply savory and well-seasoned. The braising process had clearly broken down the collagen beautifully, resulting in a truly luxurious texture. The wagyu beef had a distinct richness that normal beef does not. The ravioli were generously sized and beautifully formed, suggesting attention to detail. The service was impeccable. Our server, Alicia, was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food. She expertly guided us through the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and ensured our glasses were never empty. While Koast might be a bit of a splurge, it's worth every penny. My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the new Koast Restaurant in Wailea during our honeymoon last week, and I can't say enough good things about this place. Koast is nothing short of extraordinary. Situated on the second level of a shopping center in beautiful Wailea, Koast offers a stunning open-air setting with breathtaking views. The décor is stylish and sophisticated, creating an inviting and upscale atmosphere that made for a perfect evening. We were fortunate to be welcomed by Amy, one of the owners, who graciously seated our entire party. Both she and her husband were incredibly kind, going out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Their hospitality made us feel like VIPs. In fact, they even congratulated us on our marriage with complimentary champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed some fantastic drinks -- an ube horchata for me, which was a unique and delicious twist, and a perfectly crafted old-fashioned. Our appetizers included crispy calamari and pig's ear, both of which were outstanding. For my entrée, I chose the pork -- freshly butchered in-house. I believe it was the shoulder portion, and it was everything you would want from a dish like this: tender, flavorful, and reminiscent of classic Kahlua pork. From the exceptional service and the warm hospitality of Amy and her husband to the unforgettable flavors of the food and the breathtaking setting, Koast Restaurant gave us a truly memorable dining experience. If you are craving actual local fish, then look no further...you found it. Everything we ate was absolutely incredible. They had whole fish that had just come in on display as you enter so you know you aren't getting frozen mahi from the Philippines, or black cod from Alaska etc. Our server was super helpful in describing the differences between the different options. Wound up getting opah and a NY strip that was dry aged to perfection. When we were leaving we saw a fisherman walk through the front door late at night bringing them stuff he had just caught. Oh and when the server says the desserts are shareable he's not kidding, but they're so good so just go for it! read more

Got lucky enough to have this spot recommended by a server at morimoto and man did we hit the jackpot. This has to be the best deal on Maui for a killer meal. The raw of the day dish was blue marlin with Vietnamese flavors and it was awesome. They've got a rotating local pork entree that was fun and the dry aged steaks were amazing. They also do a whole roasted local fish that feeds 4 and is EPIC! Go try this spot asap before it becomes impossible to get a reso, it's that good and they're 2 weeks in! read more

Our 2nd time to Koast was just as delicious as the first. Friendly and knowledge staff that seems to really love what they do. Fish tartare was packed full of flavor, octopus toast was spicy and delicious and the whole roasted kanpachi is probably the dish I'm gonna crave most on this island. Also had a delicious bottle of wine for under $80 which we thought was impossible in Wailea. Keep up the good work Koast! read more

An absolute gem…read more First of all, everyone was ordering prime rib and we didn't, so keep that in mind - seems very popular. However, my wife and I were in the mood for seafood. We ordered the lettuce wraps as an appetizer and just wow - there are not words to describe the best lettuce wraps I've ever had. The chicken wasn't diced, it was a sliced chicken thigh. The hoison marinade was great, all the parts of the wraps were so fresh and tasty, the peanut sauce was perfect, and the portion size was enormous. The Marry Me Mahi was great - every part of it was perfect. The poke nachos were fantastic and ENORMOUS. Their kids catch of the day (Ono) was tasty but probably the only thing that came across as overpriced. We went on a quiet Wednesday, the restaurant looked about 1/3 full and there were 2 wait staff and a hostess working and they were so attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is cute and a nice blend of classic and modern. They don't have a liquor license to BYOB. We would definitely come back.

We decided to order family style and share a few things since we weren't that hungry. We got the Furikake Garlic Fries, which are tossed in butter, garlic, and a nori-sesame mix. So good! We also ordered the Shoyu Poke; Fried Noodles with egg, kamaboko, and Spam (asked them to hold the bean sprouts); and the Teriyaki Beef. The beef plate comes with mac salad and two scoops of rice, so you get a good amount of food. Everything was great for a casual lunch! The restaurant was clean, and parking was easy with plenty of stalls right out front. Always appreciate that when you're out exploring and making stops around the island. Good food, friendly service, and an amazing ocean view. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Lahaina!

Disappointing Experience - Overpriced for the Quality…read more I haven't been to Aloha Mixed Plate in years, and I was really looking forward to coming back. My family and I visit their sister restaurant, Star Noodle, quite often, so I was expecting the same level of quality. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. We visited today at 1:15 PM, and I have to say I left pretty disappointed. The shoyu chicken was dry, and the overall food quality just didn't match the price. For a family of five, our bill came out to $178, including soft drinks. That's a lot of money for a casual plate lunch experience. What was also disappointing was being told by our server that they do not offer a kamaʻāina discount. As a local, it's always nice when businesses recognize and support the community that supports them. I understand we live in a tourist destination, but the prices should still reflect the quality of the food and overall experience. Unfortunately, Aloha Mixed Plate felt more like an overpriced tourist spot than the local favorite I remembered. At these prices, I honestly wouldn't even recommend it to visitors. My recommendation? Save your money and head to Star Noodle instead. We go there often, and the quality and experience have been much more consistent. I really wanted to enjoy coming back, but sadly, this visit was a letdown. 3 stars.

The location is amazing, right on the water, and the establishment is rather small. We were sat at the bar, and I really enjoyed having the ocean view all around. Bar service was fine. However the food and drinks are "meh" at best. We went during "happy hour," and the menu is limited. The only item I found unique and interested was the ube hot bread -- definitely worth trying; I haven't seen ube at many other places. I found the seared ahi bruschetta to be a bit meager and found the coconut shrimp to completely miss the mark (tommy's is definitely the place to get this item). I also wasn't impressed with the makai tai (mai tai). So while I'm glad business are returning to Lahaina and I loved the views -- sadly the food and drinks didn't do it for me. Perhaps worth trying for dinner, but something tells me not. Furthermore there are definitely many better places to go to for happy hour (such as Monkeypod).

The fish is always fresh, and you can taste it. Only heads up: they don't have sriracha. If you're a sriracha person like me, bring your own. I typically do, and it's worth it. If you're in Kihei, don't overthink it. Go to Paia Fish Market, get the blackened mahi mahi, and enjoy it. Appreciate this place.

We made reservations for a birthday and requested an ocean front seat for this occasion. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation knowing how busy they can be and we were promptly seated when we arrived. We had oyster shooters and the Spanish octopus to start and both were phenomenal. The Octopus was grilled to perfection and so tender you could easily cut it with a butter knife. The octopus is a must!! For the main course my wife ordered the scallops and I ordered the special which was grilled Opah with two grilled shrimp served over risotto. Both dishes were the best things that we have eaten all year. At the end of dinner they provided a complimentary dessert and some of the best views and service on the island. The restaurant Manager also checked in with us to make sure that we enjoyed everything. She was very nice, professional and engaging. Our waiter and supporting staff were all amazing as well anticipating our needs and exceeding expectations. If you are looking for great views, great service and exceptional food look no further than Honu! No its not cheap but it is a great experience!
